I was trying to meditate. I told you.

the different types of music

in each state.

I don't consider myself to be
just one genre.

I like it all.

A coach could really help me discover

who I am even more as a singer.

All I need is one chair turn.

I grew up listening to, like,

I was for a while, I got kicked out.

You know, I love it all.

As you can see, with a four-chair turn,

like, you had an amazing performance.

You were poised, you were ready for it.

You were just so connected
through the whole performance.

I heard in your voice
the crackle, the tone, the rasp.

Whenever we first started out,

I had a lot of R & B influence, as well.

your own interests, as well.

Our mom gave us color coordination.

I was the green twin,
and Justin was the blue twin.

With my glasses on,

you literally cannot tell us apart.

And so, I take them off for that reason.

Growing up, Justin and I were really shy.

Music was definitely the thing
that brought us out of our shell.

My parents loved to record
videos of us dancing and singing.

We just made sure to encourage them.
And sometimes chocolate is a treat.

[all laugh]

[Justin] Giving us chocolate
definitely made us want to dance.

[Jeremy] It definitely made me hyper, too.

Just to work with any of the

From the first time when I heard
you guys harmonizing,

and I found out it was two people,

I was like, "We got to turn around.
That sounds amazing."

that worked in harmonics.

When you guys first started,
it was super tight.

There were some parts where
one of you guys got pitchy,

and you guys regained control
by the end of it.

I think as long as you guys are focused

on how you interact with each other,

you guys will have great performances
and keep having success like this.

You know, I'm dealing
with four men over here

that are talking and talking.

I have to use strategy.

If we can't get a duo,

-I was going to be pretty bummed out.

My name is Tae Lewis.

I'm 31 and I'm from
Goldsboro, North Carolina,

and currently I live
in Nashville, Tennessee.

I got my start in New York.

You wouldn't think that
country music is a big thing

in upstate New York, but it really is.

I was trying to play at this bar.

It was the biggest things
because everybody was playing

at this bar and they said,
"Are you doing R & B, pop?"

And I said, "No, I do country music."

And they were like, "I'm sorry.

We've never seen
a Black country artist before.

So I don't know how this is
going to kind of work out."

Being denied because of me being Black,

that was a hard time in my life
right there.

Ooh.

[sniffs]

But I couldn't give up on myself.

I started talking to
a lot of the country artists

that were already playing,
became friends with them,

sitting in on their band rehearsals,

posting videos,
until the director of Black Opry,

she reached out to me and she said,

"I want to know if you want
to be a part of a team."

The Black Opry is the collective
of Black country artists.

I've been able to go across America,

play in New York and Ohio,
playing at the Troubadour,

got my music video on CMT,
which is crazy to me.

Just amazing to be able to be around

other Black country artists like me.

For my blind audition, I will be singing

"Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban.

The song is basically about loving oneself

before you can love somebody else.

I definitely relate to this song

because I didn't love myself at one point.

I'm trying not to break down
and cry, y'all.

For a long time, I felt like

I didn't have a certain place
in country music

because of what I look like
or where I came from.

A chair turn
would be so validating for me.

I was sitting at my customer-service job,
and I got a call from someone in Sweden

needing a voluptuous,

It was a background gig
for a prominent artist there.

He got to go to Eurovision.

So that means I got to go to Eurovision.

It's probably the biggest
song contest in the world,

bigger than the Super Bowl. [chuckles]

After Eurovision, the other
background singers and I

formed a group called The Mamas.

And, whoa, my life completely changed.

We got a huge following,

but I was in this whole other country,

missing my family terribly.

I felt like, "I need to go home."

To finally be here as a solo artist,

but being able to sing
