I have a problem I've been working on

this puzzle for over 3 hours and I can't

get any of the pieces together calm down

over okay so where's this puzzle it's

right here see it's supposed to be a

tiger uh Jim what this is a box of corn

flakes

M there's nothing like my mom's homemade

apple pie apple pie is my favorite this

is my mom's recipe it was sent in by my

mom thanks Mom start by taking a pie

crust and laying it on a pie plate just

like

that now go over to your oven make sure

you put on some oven mitts

Now open up your oven and make sure that

the rack is in the

center preheat your oven to

425° if you can't it's okay if you ask

me

don't now come back over you're going to

peel and slice eight apples take your

peeler and peel the

apples peel peel

peel all

right there that should be good get all

your peels into a

bowl let's slice your

Apple make sure you get them kind of

thin you don't want them too thick in

your apple

pie kland apples are my mom's favorite

but if you can't find those any

mediumsized Apple will be just SP put I

can toss these in all right now take a

cup of

sugar pour it in the mixture and half a

teaspoon of cinnamon then you mix it up

with your

hands

yeah make sure you wash your hands

before you do

this oh it smells really

good once your apples are mixed going to

add some flour so mix them up and just

kind of

add some in this makes it thicker then

pour your mixture into your

pip wo that's a lot of apples push it

all into the

middle and take your other pie

crust and put it on top and lay it on

top and you're going to fold bottom pie

crust over the top and pinch

it so f it up and over and

pinch and up and over and

pinch there you

go kind of sloppy but it's okay then cut

three sets of two be in the

top so you make little slits little

leaves this is so that it can steam when

it gets really hot in the

oven very there we go now take three

thin strips of aluminum and wrap it

around the edge of your P this is so

that it doesn't Brown too quickly just

going to wrap it like that fold it

around the

edge want to get it over the side of the

crust a little

bit mix it go down and put on your Min

and open the oven get it all ready

pick up your pth and put it

in you're going to bake for 25 minutes

and after 25 minutes you're going to

take it out with your MX still on take

off the oen foil and dig it for another

15 and then once your pie is cooled you

know what to

looking straight ahead at the TV now but

you can still probably see if someone

sitting beside you on the couch this is

called peripheral vision H are from

bigger steel California emailed us to

say that you notice things look

different when you look at them with

your peripheral vision we're going to

try to experiment to try this out we

want to find out how good we are seeing

something moving shape color and detail

like this letter with our peripheral

vision okay Franchesco I've cut out tons

of different shapes on different pieces

colored to paper so on each of them I've

written different letter so can you

stand

on let me just draw an X somewhere can

you stand on the X sure and look

straight ahead now um I'm going to draw

a semicircle and it should be about in

arms like the way so can you stick out

your arms y

one of these letters and slowly walk

around you you have to tell me when you

first see something moving what color

you see what shape you see and what

got moving the first but we all pretty

right here's the side shebe on how this

works the back of your eye is called the

retina the retina has special cells

called rods and cones that catch

light you can find rods all over your

eye but cones are only found in the

center while both rods and cones help

you see only cones help you see color

when the shape was here we were looking

straight ahead so we can only use the

corner of our eye our peripheral Vision

to see it that's why Courtney and

Franchesco could see movement here but

couldn't see color I could see movement

and color when the shape was here closer

to the center of our vision we saw what

part of our ey that has more Combs so we

were able to see color we could also see

shape except for me I didn't see shape

until we're all the way down here when

the shape was here we're using the

center of our eye to see it which is

packed with cones which made it easier

to see the letter that was on the shape

how good is your peripheral vision is it

better in a bright room or in a dark

room try it out and send your results to

zoom in the meantime keep watching cuz

dear Zoom there's a spot in your eye

where scientists believe everyone is

blind here's the experiment to prove it

from Alissa B of Rochester New York

Alissa says that you can find out where

your blind spot is only using a marker a

ruler and a piece of paper okay here's

what you do take a piece of paper and

draw a small LS on the right

side now take your ruler

and measure about 5 in and draw a DOT

the size of a penny on the

left size of a p that's really

good okay now hold the paper in front of

you and shut your right eye look at the

x of your left side even though you're

looking at the X you should still be

able to see the dot out of the corner of

your eye yep I can so now try moving the

paper slowly towards you

and FW away you to the left and to the

right remember keep on looking at the X

at one point the do will seem to

disappear I got it mine disappeared

right here mine's like right here oh my

gosh it's

awesome mine's

here wow that's cool that really scary

what happens here to the dot Mine just

turns like disappears and turns orange

yep wo two like there's nothing there

and it's still

cool here's the side on why this works

on the back of your eye your retina you

have a lot of rods and cones that send

messages through your brain along your

nerves which are like

wires but instead of going right through

the retina the nerves first all come

together and then go through the retina

in just one spot in this spot there

aren't any rods and cones since there

aren't any rods and cones to catch light

you can't see that part of your eye the

reason you don't notice your blind spot

is because your brain feels in that part

of your vision with what it thinks

should be there when the black dot went

into my blind spot my brain filled into

spaceous orange because that's what

surrounded it how big is your blind spot

do the dot still disappear if it were

the size of a quarter How about if it

were different shape like a square or a

star come up with some ideas and send

them into

Zoom game to play this game all you need

is the ball and some handkerchiefs the

game is called steal the bacon and it

was emailed to us by Holly Z of Vista

California the object of the game is to

steal the ball in the middle of the

rug not yet Kyle I still need to explain

the

game all right so there's two teams of

three both teams line up in two rows and

then they each get a handkerchief and

they have to stick it in their back

pocket okay deep in your pocket not all

the way though have it like hanging out

and then I'll assign numbers to

everybody so Mike and Cara could be one

I have a

tail Courtney Kyle two Shing and Maya

three so now I'll put the ball in the

middle and call out numbers say I call

out two all right run and try to get it

the two yeah they run and try to get the

ball first now whoever gets it first

takes it back to the thing yeah but then

what you want to do is if the other

person gets it first you want to take

their

handkerchief and you get a point if you

do that so so so if they take it back

and I don't get the handkerchief they

get a point they take it back and I get

the handkerchief and then I get a point

you get a point then your team get cool

does everybody get it first team to Five

action hi we're Junior zookeepers right

here at Forest Park Zoo in the

action we volunteer at the zoo in Forest

Park even though we love being with

animals as Junior zookeepers we have

lots of responsibilities too one of the

first things we do is help keep the

animal enclosures clean so we do a lot

of wheelbarrowing we also help with

feeding one thing that all Junior

zookeepers do at Forest Park is keep a

journal at the end of each day we write

about our activities the observations

we've made and all the things that we

learned you volunteer in your Community

if you do you're already a member of the
