WGBY better play ball for single spell

the word spring hey boomers welcome to

today's show I thought you thought that

we're playing baseball but actually it's

a spelling bee a spelling bee that you

play like baseball this game was sent in

by Jordan acts of Acton Iowa here's how

to play I'm batting for the blue team

and I'm pitching football teams I took

the word for Rachel I've this hat

whether I get a single double triple a

homerun depends on how hard the word is

to spell

so spring is an easy where to spell so

if I get it right it's a single and I go

to first base if it's a hardware like

inpatient then it's a home run if Rachel

gets the word wrong she's out and the

other team gets a chance up about that

you can play as many innings as you like

the team with the most runs at the end

with that what's up what's up here's a

great summer tree that you can drink any

time is yes it's homemade lemonade and

natty out of Salt Lake City Utah emailed

us the recipe here's what you need to do

first

Lola lemon this helps soften up the

juice inside and it makes it easier to

squeeze so I'll roll it okay now cut

your lemon in half and then squeeze it

into a bowl I'm gonna use a measuring

cup instead if you use a knife make sure

you ask an adult to help you and it's a

good idea to use a strainer so that you

don't get any seeds in your lemonade got

a lot of juice out of that one this

recipe calls for four lemons that I

already squeezed through so I'm only

gonna squeeze one into the bowl

perfect okay now this half there we go

this is how much juice you'll get out of

four lemons now pour your lemon juice

into a picture okay that's good

add one cup of sugar yummy I love sugar

they feel good okay and six cups of

water

and then now they're all of your

ingredients together you want to stir it

really well so the sugar doesn't stay at

the bottom so you don't have tons of

sugar now pour your lemonade into a

glass with some ice in it and enjoy my

I've known this nursery rhyme since I

was little but I've never known what

curds and whey worth well today Jodie

asked of Halifax Nova Scotia in Canada

sent us away we can find out okay add

four teaspoons of white vinegar to 1 and

1/2 cups of skim milk microwave your

mixture for about a minute if you're not

allowed to change the microwave make

sure to ask an adult to help you your

milk and vinegar should look like this

this one's already cool here's what

happened to the milk by adding the

vinegar

I created a chemical reaction which made

the milk separated into two parts the

curds are the solid in the liquid is the

way now when I stir the mixture if you

call this one blob then gross oh the

Gloam you look at when I strain the

mixture the blog becomes a lump oh cool

it feels like rubber yeah no squishy -

yeah let's see if it bounces okay

squeeze out the yeah yeah okay Oh little

bit see kind of goes up a little and not

really at all

the protein in the curds make it act

like rubber

if you leave it out it will harden and

look like this

there's a ball did 100 years ago people

took milk and use their like this to

make plastic later in the show we'll

show you another way in the water in the

cow

directions to turn crane into two parts

a solid butter and a liquid

funnel milk all you need is to put some

cream into a jar and screw the lid on

make sure you screw the lid on very

tightly because you don't want the cream

to fly all over the place and then start

shaking the cream has little globs of

fat and protein when you shake the jar

the fat and protein move around in the

cream and they stick together

keep shaking until you see that the

cream thickens in about ten minutes

you'll have butter

since it's pretty boring to watch us to

shake the star back and forth we're

gonna speed up the action for you

oh there's all the buttermilk looks

really good I know it does yeah

they made a lot identical okay George

grab a cr*cker looks like real butter

bunnies exactly the same when we shook

the jar the fat and protein blobs hit

larger glob

now we have one large glob bonus the

extra liquid left over is buttermilk so

we know that we could separate cream

into two parts

earlier you saw that by adding vinegar

to milk the milk separated into two

parts to make a plastic glove so we know

that we can separate cream and milk but

can we turn the back together so how do

you think we should turn the plastic

blobs in the milk and to turn the butter

back in the cream since vinegar is an

acid and we put that in there or if we

try it like maybe putting a base a

baking soda sprinkler on okay so what do

you think the baking soda is gonna do to

the I think my prediction is that it's

gonna turn all like goopy again yeah so

then after we put the baking soda and

you can do that sprinkle it on then

shall we we should pour in except for

you boy all right

okay let's try and then maybe it will

start to like melt in there a little bit

later joined of like stir it around okay

what's the big deal that's gonna do it

yeah what's doing living it a little

more or do you think that's good I think

why don't you wanna let it likes it

maybe flew in a while and then go to the

butter and then okay so how do you think

we should turn this butter back in the

cream hmm there's we melt it and put it

bathroom to the bottom look so here's a

melted cooled butter we cool try to pour

it into the buttermilk crack see if this

works

whoa dog Holly it looks like oil so just

stir it around yeah okay so like your

buttery doesn't it look like crazy

things are yo let's try it see if it

tastes like cream it already

nope definitely not Hey tastes exactly

like butter

you wanna try it on our chassis Oh glob

wow it's really hard to change them back

I know we don't know if we can change

the plastic logs back in the milk or the

butter back in the cream what do you
