called ship Shore deck it was sent in by

Justin B of East Lancing

Michigan okay Sailors I am the captain

of the ship so you have to listen to all

my orders there are four commands when I

say ship you have to run over here

okay when I say deck you have to run to

the

middle when I say sure you have to run

over here and when I say hit the deck

you have to run in the middle and lay

down on your

stomach if you make if you make a

mistake when I give the command you're

out the person left at the end of the

game is the winner

M hi welcome to Cafe Zoom today we're

going to make banana Munchies smun don't

you just love that word Rachel B of

wishik North Dakota Jazz she sent us the

recipe here's what you'll need to make

your spongies one R

banana 1/3 cup of peanut

butter some gr

crackers and plast to grb here's what

you do to make about six

smudgies

first Mash your

bananas in a bowl it's good if it's cut

off first cuz that makes it a lot

easier and if you try to smush it

against the wall of the container it

makes it a lot

easier okay I think that's good

we'll keep that in then add your 1/3 cup

of peanut

butter I love peanut

butter

okay and mush that

around and this is a really messy Cafe

but it's what makes it

fun and that looks

good

then take a spoonful of your peanut

butter and banana mixture and put it on

a half of a gam

cr*cker okay and I'm going to make

another

one that's

good then put the other half of the gram

cr*cker on top of it so that it looks

kind of like a

sandwich don't squeeze too hard or else

the gam cr*cker could break but that's

okay SMH my other one

then wrap your smudgies in plastic wrap

this is kind of like wrapping a presents

I love wrapping

presents then put it in the freezer for

about 3

hours and and here's

some

oh they're already Frozen and ready to

eat

I got it you call the

check out our garden do you know how we

grew it by planting a sock weird huh

well it's not just an ordinary sock it's

a sock that was worn out in the fields

outside in the country Joshua T of Venus

Texas told us how to use socks to grow

plants it's a great way to find out what

kind of plants grow in different biomes

Joshua says the best time to do this is

on a sunny day in late summer or early

fall first find an old fuzzy worn out

sock that can fit over your shoe then go

wandering around outside you can do this

in the city or in the country and you

can go walking around in the woods or in

a lot that has some weeds then walk back

and forth in an area that's growing some

plants take off your sock and examine

the kinds of seeds they're stuck onto it

oh cool I know this looks like a wheat

seed and over there there's an orange

seed and those ones are like dark brown

and green they have they're different

kinds of colors that's really cool now

to plant your sock you're going to take

a shoe box and line it with a garbage

bag or a plastic wrap like

this and then you're going to put some

potting soil into your shoe box so that

covers the

bottom okay now cut a slit down the side

of your sock I have one that's already

cut and now I'm going to unroll it so I

can cut the part that doesn't have any

seeds on

go all right almost done there

cool now take your sock and flatten it

out so that it goes into the bottom of

your box like that and make sure the

seeds are facing

upwards then put a thin layer of potting

soil on the top of your sock so I'm just

going to cover

it it's cool mhm just sort of make sure

it spreads out yeah spread it out need

some

more just want to make sure I get all

yeah okay that's good mm F water your

sock cool and

okay that looks good there we go in a

week or so your seeds should begin to

sprout and look like this oh that's

awesome this is really fun to do with

your fence in different environments

because you get different results every

time I will a sock that's in this shoe

box outside of my lawn that's in the

city the sock that was planted in this

box was worn in a field of wild flowers

in the suburbs isn't it pretty a I know

so C soft I know it's sort of fuzzy

too imagine putting on socks walking

through the Everglades in Florida and

then planting them what kind of plants

would grow well later in the show

anyone in the past the person I would

like to talk to is Jackie Robinson cuz I

would like to see what he would feel

like being the first black page player

review of the book Bud Not Buddy by

Christopher Paul Curtis here's what she

had to say my teacher read it as a class

book and I loved it it's about a young

boy who leaves his foster home to find

his real father he meets a lot of funny

people on the way and there are plenty

of jokes but it also has a serious side

this book is special to me because the

boy is my age and he has some of the

same troubles as Me Do you have a

favorite book that you want to tell us

above hi I'm Tommy Owen I'm 14 I live in

Copeland Florida on the edge of the

Everglades it probably looks a lot

different from the area in which you

live the the Everglades is a wetland

biome made up mostly of

swamps and Marshy

grasslands w*r it's a subtropical

environment usually 70° in the winter

and the low 90s in the

summer most of the land is covered with

water it's one of the wetest places on

Earth we receed about 50 to 60 in of

rain

here stop

water stays on the surface because the

bottom of the aogl has been covered over

by thousands of years of decomposing

plants this stuff keeps the water from

being absorbed from the ground it acts

like a sponge there's between 3 to 6 ft

of this dead plant life below the

water the everlight has incredible

biodiversity which means it's home for

thousands of living

things this is a green tree frog

oh this is a Florida water snake I'm

going to try to catch the

snake no no look here's a swamp it

usually booms after a heavy

ring here is a golden ore weaver spider

they call him a golden or weaver spider

because they have a golden to their

web this alligator is about 5 to 6

made these junk aliens for you they are

made out of clay and scraps from my

mom's desk drawer try and figure out

what the metal scraps are here well

the house and made little things out of

there's one look at him it looks like he

they are right this one looks kind of

like a tack right like in the there's

little arms oh yeah has some cool

designs on the top and it actually looks

like it's holding like a little umbrella

see on I have I think these I think it's

supposed to be a mouse cuz I think uh

out we volunteered by helping to clean

up the river in our city there are also

lots of canals in our neighborhood so we

helped clean those too first we

collected all the materials we need like

plastic bags toes and gloves by asking

for donations from local businesses then

we went to work it was hard but we also

had lots of fun and by working together

we were able to collect 30 bags of

garbage and pull seven tires and three

bicycles out of the water now our

community is more beautiful and we like

to walk on the river again we're going

to do this every year want to be a

member of the Zoom team too visit
