have you ever had a really embarrassing

moment one day i was wearing shorts that

were too big for me and me and my

friends were going to the store and i

ran in the store my shorts

last summer i was going on this camping

trip and i brought this like tart in

this like um gap bag

and one night when i wanted to eat it i

took it out and there was like bread

crumbs all over it so i started to eat

it and i noticed the bread crumbs were

moving and they turned out to be ants

and i was really disgusted and that

ruined my whole summer and that was

really embarrassing

have you ever had a really embarrassing

moment well if you have right

this is les miserables it takes place in

the 19th century in france

it's a very interesting show because you

learn a lot about the history of france

i'm the stage manager and it involves a

whole lot of stuff to do

i tell the actors when to get ready

half an hour

i make sure all the props are set

i make sure everybody has what they need

where's your washi

where is it supposed to be though

right next to the shelf once the show

starts it's out of the director's hands

and it now

relies on the stage manager 15 minutes

15 minutes people

15 minutes

during the show i'm up in the lighting

booth

my primary job is basically to run the

show

and making sure that the lights get on

at the right time the spotlight gets put

on the right time and the sound gets put

on at the right time

i might not be in the spotlight but i'm

in charge of the spotlight

the whole show kind of depends on me

remember when we tried the structural

challenge of trying to break the egg by

squeezing it and we couldn't well

david kirk of omaha nebraska sent us

another structural challenge

and you take two cups and put them

upside down about 10 inches apart

now take a piece of paper and use it to

make a bridge between the two cups

that will support a bar of soap

it can be done

and if david can do it we can let's go

we had to design a balloon car out of

orange juice boxes the wheels are made

of spools

and we're using balloons

and you inflate the balloon and the

force of the air coming out of the

balloon was to make the car go so what

we really had to do is design a good car

that would go far for the longest time

and faster

you have to have the right size opening

at the end because if you let the air

out too fast it'll just go fast for a

second and then it will stop

but if you let the art too slowly you

won't get enough force

i tried with this long skinny balloon

and what i realized is that the moon was

starting to flop over and get in the way

of the wheel

so i had to design this to keep the

balloon straight

put the wheels farther apart so it would

um wouldn't like be able to turn like

this more go

there's always a trade-off for how fast

it can go and how far it can go

although i had no idea that i was about

one of my toughest cases yet

bobby discovered a dog who was chained

up in a house that was locked and empty

at first the police said that there was

nothing they could do but bobby would

not give up he contacted a local animal

rights organization and finally the dog

was released and is now happy with her

new owner

was voted the children's first place

national grand champion

i tried going on a date

with a couple other kids to to see if i

liked it and so i went on a date and

we went to a movie

and i i mean it was okay but it wasn't

it wasn't really fun for me i was sort

of nervous afterwards i started thinking

about like whether i thought i was ready

for that yeah

remember last week when we asked you to

call zoom voicemail and tell us what

kind of pets you have well we actually

got 2

400 calls and here are the results the

top five pets were birds 215 hamsters

and gerbils 320.

lobster

so if the sample of kids who called in

is a good representation of everyone

watching and there are about four

million viewers

and there is the same ratio of two dogs

to every three people as there was for

our callers there are over two and a

half million dogs watching us right now

today what's up rebecca warner from

cleveland ohio

had talked to us about her experience

with dating

so we asked rebecca to join us on a zoom

rep rebecca are you there yeah hi

hi so when people say the word dating

what's the first meaning that comes to

your mind well i think um what i think

about is when a boy and a girl go out

together

and

i think that they have something between

them like

they have to like know each other and

they're going out to sort of have a fun

time in my school like when they say

they're dating they brag a lot and say

it's really cool yeah yeah but they

don't do it awesome sometimes it's like

a matter of peer pressure and they go

out just because

um

some people who are quote-unquote cool

are going out some people

might not be comfortable going on dates

and i think it

has something to do with peer pressure

sometimes for some people yeah it's

definitely a lot peer pressure because

like

a lot of times people you know they're

like oh this person really likes you you

should go out with them and what it

means it doesn't mean like go out to a

movie it doesn't mean that you're in

love or anything like that

it just like means

dating to me doesn't mean anything i

think that i don't know i think there's

some kind of feeling that some people

have but if you're like too young then

you might not feel it and then if you go

out and date um it might turn out that

you're like why did we do this why can't

you just be friends with the person like

really good friends i don't get that

because like i mean if you really like

somebody then you know

going up and asking them out

when you break up a lot of times it can

be hard and you know you'll break a

really good friendship a lot of times at

least this is the way at my school

the thing is just more of like a problem

for like most people i find because like

you say you can't like talk to any of

your other friends who are like girls or

guys because it's like okay no you

shouldn't be doing that you're going out

with so-and-so and it's just so stupid

because i mean why do that if everyone's

going to get all uptight no you're going

out then you can't do that yeah that's

just like what happened

that happened one time at my school um

these two people were supposedly going

out for a really long time

and um you know the girl

she wouldn't let the boy do anything if

he i mean when he went to just talk to a

girl or ask a girl for homework she'd

get all mad at him and everything and so

it's like kind of like it's really i

think it's personally stupid when you're

so young and you're not mature enough

yeah yeah you might not agree with me

but some people might not be ready for a

relationship so

some people can't really get

disappointed if they say somebody says

no to him yeah i think that if you say

no to someone you should say well i

still want to be your friend

but

i just don't feel like i'm ready to go

out with you and and maybe some other

time like when i'm older and like

especially if you're going um out for

the first time if you're going on like a

first date or something i think it's

more comfortable when you're with other

people yeah because when you're with

friends you're more you're more loose

you're more yourself you're more you're

more relaxed

i think going on like a double date or

something like that it's better like for

your first time like if you want to try

out any kind of dating it's better to go

with a group it just depends on

what you feel as a person

making fruit leather this fruit filled

delight was sent in by lauren carroll of

atlanta georgia all you need is a

blender some fruit and some honey or

some corn syrup preheat the oven to 140

degrees or low if you can't use another

one alone ask the gromp to help you

but in this case i don't have an oven so

i don't need them

then you get a cookie sheet with an edge

on it and you put in the plastic wrap

smoothing it out so it won't be wrinkled

and then you ask your parents if you can

use a blender

and put in one cup of chopped

strawberries

and then you get two tablespoons

of honey

or

corn syrup

[Music]

make sure you put the top one if you

don't you have to be really messy

you put it on for 10 seconds or until

it's liquidy

and then you get a wooden spoon

and pour it onto the sheet

[Music]

and you're smoothing it out

[Music]

and then you put in you put in the oven

for three hours

don't try to cheat the heat because

you'll burn it

and as soon as it's done you take it out

and put it aside to cool so you can roll

it up later

and i happen to have some

cool and ready to eat
