Eight weeks ago, the Superbowl ended
and the phenomenon began...

...as "The Voice" became the
number one show of the season.

That's what I'm talking about!

It all started with the blind auditions.

When four of the biggest
superstars in music began their

search for the greatest voice in America.

I want you on my team badly.

Each coach picked 12 artists
for their team and paired them

up in vocal battle duets...

Leaving the coaches
with agonizing decisions over who to

represent their team in the live shows.

But tonight, everything changes.

Live shows are a whole different ballgame.

You make a mistake, that's it.

It's all on the line when two of
the coaches' teams make mistakes.

I love being part of the creative process.

Now we get to the nitty-gritty of
production, using dancers and showcasing.

While Blake will showcase
unique-sounding vocalists.

It's like Adam is going to freak out.

a performance of a life time.

tonight, what should they be watching for?

I definitely always want
them to be admirers.

tonight's performances.

I figured, Adam couldn't do
nothing so I grow mine out.

You know, I think that this is
a really good time, first of

as the process goes through.

This is important and really

diagnosed with cancer last year.

I tried to shrink my voice down to fit.

Christina is a very emotional singer.

She brought that out in me.

Winning this battle meant a lot to my mom.

Christina and I have been
e-mailing and calling each other

to throw around song ideas.

Chris has this magical voice and
that's why it shows "bridge"

over troubled water."

many different textures to it.

I'm very, very excited to showcase
the next level of Lindsey.

We want to make it a hip-hop
beat and make it step sounding.

She inspires me in a creative way, as well.

You have more of an airy,

When my father passed away, it really

Even going to the live rounds
is an example that you can

totally beat the odds
and overcome anything.

Charlotte's going to be performing a song
by paramour called "misery business."

I watched him wildest dreams come true.

I would keep the energy all
the way up through that.

I think Charlotte has a
shot at winning this thing.

She uses her voice as an instrument.

I want to make it a little
more haunting because the song

is so sassy, and I think we've
had enough sass coming from me.

flatness, there was some pitch stuff.

That's hypercritical and
nothing you have to listen to.

I thought it was great.

I thought that was the one issue I heard.

I actually have to disagree for a second.

I know it didn't last long.

I think as Adam was really
surprised at Ashley and what she

could do and the depth of her range,
I was surprised in this performance.

I wasn't expecting that.

It was dramatic and quiet
where it needed to be quiet.

It was big where it needed to be big.

You're good at extending those long,
high notes and it takes power.

You're subtle at the right spots.
