What are those little ones up to?

Look at all the feathers.

They're not mine. No, siree.

No missing feathers
from this little black duck.

They must be Tweety's.

Hey, I'm too young
to molt and lose my feathers.

Oh. Tsk. We'll have to re-stuff
those pillows in the morning.

Right now, you have to go to sleep

because the sandman will be here
any minute to put the sand in your eyes.

What's this?

You know the sand
you find in your eyes in the morning?

-Well, the sandman puts it there

during the night to help you sleep.

What kind of goofball goes around
throwing sand in little kids' eyes?

[yawns]

Go to sleep, Daffy. Now I am tired.

I like this sandy man either.

Maybe I'll sleep under the bed
where he can't get me.

You think he won't find you under there?

Well, maybe it is kind of lonely
under here anyway.

Ha. "Go to sleep," he says.

Sure, that's what the sandman wants.

I bet he's out there waiting right now.

Ahh! It's him.

Taz thirsty.

That's it. Everyone back to their own beds
and go to sleep.

I'll go back to my own bed,
but I'm not going to sleep.

No dusty old sandman is gonna dust me.

[rooster crows]

[Daffy laughing]

I made it. Ha, ha.

That silly sandman didn't get in here.

That's what you think, Daffy.

There's sand in my eyes.

How could the sandman have gotten in?

I was watching the whole night
and I didn't see anyone.

This sandy man is one tricky guy.

Where do you suppose
the sandman goes during the day?

Ha, ha. I can play my music if I want to.

I hate it when she does that.

I'm telling you, my fellow babies,

the sandman
is gonna rise out of that sandbox

and throw sand in our faces.

If he lives in that sandbox,

how come we've never seen him
rise out of it before?

Oh, he's a tricky one.

He got in and out of the bedroom
without us seeing him, didn't he?

Well, that's good enough for me.

Yeah, it's not so bad
having him put the sandies in at night,

but I don't want him doing it
when I'm awake.

This should be far enough away.

I don't know why,
but I love watching the little fishies.

right in our own sandbox.

[grunts]

[yells]

[gasps]

Look!

It's him, the sandman.

I told you. I told you.

[all scream]

Oh, my goodness gracious. It's true.

[all screaming]

Taz save.

[both laugh]

Hey. Lola, what happens to our sandcastles
when they get wet?

-Mush.
-Right.

We'll melt that old sandman.

I'm covering my eyes,
so you might as well leave me alone.

You can't get me.

-Sylvester?
-Sylvester?

You can open your eyes now, Daffy.

It's all over.

Sylvester? You're the sandman?

I'm no sandy man.

I was wet and I fell in the sandbox.

Now I'm just wet again.

Here now, why are you throwing water
on poor Sylvester?

We thought he was the sandman.

And he was gonna throw sand in our eyes.

Daffy stayed up all night waiting for him
and then never saw him.

But we all still had sand in our eyes
in the morning.

Oh, dear.

The sandman isn't real, Daffy.
He's just made up.

Then why did you tell us about him?

You're right. I probably shouldn't have.

I thought
the sandman was just a fun little story.

But I made a mistake.

Sometimes grown-ups make mistakes too.

I'm sorry the sandman story scared you.

I'm just glad he's not real.
