You wanna hear a joke?

Sure.

Knock knock.

Who's there?

Amos.

Amos who?

A mosquito just bit me!

Ha ha ha ha!

Heh heh heh.

[Groaning]

Usually everyone laughs when

I tell them that one.

The joke's funny but this

toothache isn't.

Toothache?

I'll tell my mom as soon as I

get home.

You're gonna tell your mom?

Sure, why not?

Because she'll make you go to

the dentist.

So?

I've been to the dentist lots of

times.

It's no big deal.

It is a big deal if you've

got a toothache.

What do you mean?

Last year I had a little

toothache and I ended up getting

See?

[Lisa gasping]

And he froze my mouth with a

needle this long.

[Gulping]

And my cousin went to the

dentist with a toothache and the

dentist pulled his tooth right

out.

I thought the dentist would

just make it feel better.

Make what feel better?

My-- oh, nothing.

[Neighing]

Giddy up!

[Laughing]

Corduroy, what are you doing?

I'm riding on Buckaroo!

How many times have I told

you not to rock so fast?

I've tried telling him.

You're going to have to be

more careful or else you're

going to-- ow-- hurt yourself.

What's wrong?

I have a toothache.

Can't you get it fixed.

I think I'll wait for it to

get better on its own.

Oh, I left some books in the

living room.

Be right back, Cordy.

Mom's taking us to the library.

[Whistling]

Okay, giddy up, Buckaroo!

But Lisa said--

Oh, all right.

Faster!

You can do it.

[Neighing]

Whoa!

Ow!

Are you all right?

I think I scratched my elbow.

You aren't gonna tell Lisa are

you?

My goodness, you certainly

borrowed a lot of books this

time.

Six for me and six for Cordy.

Phew, it certainly is warm

out.

Perhaps we could stop for a

little treat somewhere.

I'm thinking something cold.

Mm, that's delicious and cold.

[Groaning]

How's your ice cream, Lisa?

Um--

I can't finish this.

Pass up ice cream?

Is everything okay?

I guess I'm just not very

hungry.

Well, this is a first.

[Lisa sighing]

[Lisa groaning]

It's just a toothache.

It's just a toothache.

Oh, hm, I see.

I was right to tell you about

my toothache wasn't I?

Oh yes, nothing to worry

about.

Now then, all ready for your

needle?

N-n-needle?

[Screaming]

What's the matter?

Oh, I guess I just had a bad

dream.

Sorry to wake you, Cordy.

Go back to sleep.

Okay.

Ouch!

[Groaning]

[Mom humming]

MOM: Lisa?

[Lisa sighing]

Lisa, you look a little tired,

hon.

I didn't sleep very well last

night.

Maybe this bowl of hot

oatmeal will wake you up.

Oh, ow!

What's wrong?

[Groaning]

My tooth!

Let's wait until your oatmeal

is cool enough to eat, okay?

Lisa?

Cordy, what happened?

I hurt it yesterday when I

fell off Buckaroo.

I was riding him to fast.

You should have told me right

away.

Come on, I'll fix it up for you.

There.

How does that feel?

Much better.

Ow!

Sorry, I must have squeezed

too hard.

It's not your fault.

It's my tooth.

Didn't it get better on its

own?

I was hoping it would but

it's getting worse.

It hurts when I eat something

hot and it hurts when I eat

something cold.

It hurts when I laugh and it

hurts when I sleep.

And now it even hurts when you

hug me.

What are you gonna do?

Something I should have done

a long time ago.

Why didn't you tell me

sooner?

I would have but I was afraid

of the giant needle.

The giant needle?

It's this long!

Mm, and where did you hear

about this?

Moppy.

I'm pretty sure Moppy's

exaggerating.

Why would he do that?

I know he didn't mean any

harm.

Sometimes when you're worried

about something your mind

exaggerates things like the size

of a needle.

You mean it's not this big?

More like this small.

The needle is just meant to keep

you from being uncomfortable.

You can hardly feel it.

And I'm not going to get my

teeth pulled out either?

Your teeth pulled out?

Goodness, no.

Who ever told you--

Let me guess.

[Laughing]

BOTH: Moppy.

[Laughing]

Ow!

Hello, Lisa.

Now, what seems to be the

problem?

I have a toothache.

Well, let's have a look shall

we?

But first--

Maybe having your bear near by

will make you feel more

comfortable.

Thanks.

[Laughing]

There's no need to be

nervous.

I'm just going to take a picture

of your teeth.

I like getting my picture

taken.

CORDUROY, THINKING: Me too.

Not like that, Cordy.

[Laughing]

Like this!

Aaahhh.

That looks like mom's best

silverware.

Or the fancy stuff you find

in a restaurant.

Now, if you could open wide--

LISA: It looks delicious.

And for you, sir.

Enjoy.

Mm!

[Slurping]

[Laughing]

There.

We're all finished.

We are?

But it didn't even hurt!

Hey, my toothache's gone!

And my teeth: they're all here!

[Laughing]

It's a long story.

I sure am glad I told you

about my toothache.

Getting help when you need it

is a very grownup thing to do.

Did you hear that Cordy?

You did a grownup thing too.

[Laughing]

So now that my toothache's all

gone can we go for some

ice-cream?

Oh, Lisa.

[Mom humming]

Oh, thank you, Lisa.

I'll take those.

Everything looks great.

This is going to be a great

surprise party.

Well, I hope so.

I think I've blown up every

balloon in the city.

Phew.

[Mom laughing]

Not every one, dear.

[Groaning]

[Mom and Lisa laughing]

I'll bet that Moppy's still

hanging around outside the

building when he knows full well

it's almost time for his

haircut.

MOPPY: Yay, yahoo, whoa,

wahoo!

Uh, pardon me, but just who

do you think you are down there?

Tarzan?

Nah, not Tarzan, Mom.

I'm an astronaut.

Well then can you rocket over

to the barbershop before this

afternoon for a haircut?

You're long overdue.

But mom, I like my hair just

fine.

Why do I have to change it?

Sometimes change is a good

thing, especially when it helps

you see better.

I can see.

Mr. Barberoli will be ready

for you at 4 o'clock sharp so no

dilly dallying.

Oh, all right, I'll go!

Oh, and don't forget to put

your helmet on if you're gonna

take your bike.

Got it, Mom.

[Struggling]

Oh well, guess I'll have to

walk.

What's the hurry?

Don't need a haircut anyway.

Corduroy?

Cordy, where are you?

Here I am!

I have a surprise for you.

What is it?

Is it a present?

Mm hm.

Pick a hand.

Hm.

You're right!

Ta da!

Ooh, it's soft.

What is it?

It's a new blanket.

A new blanket?

But I already have a blanket.

But this new blanket is--

[Knocking]

MOPPY'S MOM: Lisa, where are

you?

[Knocking]

Lisa, could you please do me a

favour?

I need you to keep Moppy busy

and away from here.

And could you please make sure

he makes it to the barbershop?

Sure thing.

Oh, and then make sure he

comes home right after for his

you know what.

[Laughing]

Don't worry, I'll stick to

him like glue.

Be back soon, Cordy.

Why don't you give your new

blanket a try?

But my old one is my

favourite.

I don't need to change.

I'm keeping it.

Oh, fresh sponge toffee

today.

Come on Lise, let's buy some

treats.

[Dog barking]

Hey, little guy.

You're pretty silly looking with

all that fur.

Now he needs a haircut, Lisa,

not me.

Well, would you look at that.

You two look like twin mop tops.

Time to get a haircut, huh

fellas?

Hmph.

[Laughing]

Come on, you won't feel a

thing.

I promise.

Look out below!

Twigs are fallin'!

See Lisa, that tree needs a

clippin', not me.

Oh, I think you could use a

few clips.

Ugh, I can't believe this.

Climb on up and I'll give you

a trim.

Everyone's against me!

No one's against you, Moppy.

We just don't understand why you

don't want to get your hair cut.

I guess I'm afraid I won't be

me anymore.

If my hair isn't as long no one

will call me Moppy.

They might not even recognize

me.

Of course we will.

We'll just be able to see more

of your face.

Okay, here we are.

And in you go!

Ah, yeah, you are gonna look

like a whole-a new-a woman when

we finish.

Bella!

Bella!

I'm outta here!

I don't wanna be a whole-a new-a

person!

Wait up, Moppy!

Oh, what's this?

So soft!

That's my new blanket.

Why the long face?

Because I like my old

blanket.

I've had it ever since Lisa

brought me home.

[Laughing]

This must be what home is like.

I've always wanted a home.

And this is your very own

blanket.

Nighty night, Corduroy.

This blanket helped me feel

safe when I felt scared.

[Thunder crashing]

Lisa, the storm is spooky!

I can't sleep with all the

flashes.

That's the lightning.

Here you go, Corduroy.

Try this.

It always helped keep me safe

and warm when it was stormy

outside.

I could play with this

blanket.

And sometimes it would take me

for magic carpet rides.

Oooh!

Weee!

[Dove cooing]

This blanket isn't new anymore

but it's perfect for a bear like

me.

But a new blue blanket will

look so nice on your bed.

[Gasping]

Then what will happen to my

old blanket?

Why would Lisa want to throw

away something I love?

Wave goodbye to your blanket

forever.

You have a brand new blanket

now.

No, not my blanket!

Lisa, no!

I have to find a place to hide

it.

Under here?

Nope, Lisa would find it

here.

I know!

There's a good spot in here!

[Mom humming]

[Gasping]

[Mom humming]

This spot isn't gonna work

either.

That's okay.

I know a place where no one will

ever look.

Moppy!

Moppy, wait up!

Moppy, is that you already?

Let's get a good look at that

new do.

I've gotta get out of here!

MOPPY'S MOM: Yoo hoo, Lisa!

Oh!

Pandro, I spilled some pop in

the hallway.

Can I use one of your mops to

clean it up?

Sure, Lisa.

I've got one in the tool shed.

Follow me.

I think I'll need a really

shaggy one.

I spilled a lot of pop.

How about that red one, Pandro.

It'll do perfectly.

Ow, I'm not a mop!

Agh!

Moppy!

[Laughing]

Sorry about tugging your hair

like that.

You sure had me fooled with that

do of yours.

Now do you believe me?

That's it!

Gotta go; I'm gonna be late.

For what?

My haircut.

[Laughing]

[Lisa gasping]

It's Corduroy's old blanket.

Now how did that get here?

Corduroy, can I talk to you?

I found this in the shed

downstairs.

Did you put it in there?

I didn't want you to throw my

blanket away.

Corduroy, I wasn't going to

throw your blanket away.

But you bought me a new one?

Your old one has lots of

holes and it's almost worn right

through.

I thought a new one might keep

you warmer on cold winter

nights.

So I can keep them both?

Sure you can.

And since I know how important

your blanket is to you I have a

special place for us to put it.

This is where I keep all my old

favourite things.

This must be a treasure

chest.

I've always wanted a treasure

chest.

You can put your blanket in

here and come visit it whenever

you want.

Thanks, Lisa.

[Moppy humming]

Lookin' good, buddy.

[Humming]

Wow, you look great.

And you still look like Moppy.

Hey, let's go show your parents.

ALL: Surprise!

Happy Birthday Moppy!

Wow, thanks!

I'm a whole year older now Lisa.

Don't I look it?

Yep!

You see, change isn't so bad.

Not so bad at all.
