03x04 - Ice Creamed/Pitch Perfect

Post by bunniefuu »

How, what, where, why?

What, where, why?

How, what, where, why?

What, where, why?

Ada Twist, scientist

She's gonna find out what the answer is

Under here, over there

Science is everywhere you look

With Iggy Peck, architect

And Rosie Revere, engineer

So much to do

And you can help too

A mystery, a riddle, a puzzle, or a quest

There are wonders to discover
And hypotheses to test

Science is the best

Ada Twist, scientist

She's gonna find out what thе answer is

Everywherе science is

She's forming a hypothesis
Connecting polka dots

‘Cause this is scientist Ada Twist!

"Ice Creamed."

I can't wait
for the ice cream truck to get here.

This is the best day of the year.

I love Free Ice Cream Day.

Love.
Me too.

London, Miguel, Simon.

-What is up?
-Heya.

-Howdy.
-Hey.

Think they'll have
vegan mint chocolate chip?

Scoop Dog has all the flavors.
That makes it the best ice cream truck.

Rosie, okay, you, me, scoop-eating contest
without getting any brain freeze.

-You in?
-Yeah. Bring it on.

Sixty-four, sixty-five.
Hey kids! Sixty-seven…

What's your brother doing?

Trying for the world record
bouncing a ball on a racket.

I wonder who holds the most world records.
That's for the "Why Files."

What flavor are you getting?
My favorite's the Cookie-saurus Rex.

Definitely Chocolate Thunder.

Oh man!

Now I'm gonna have to start over.

Stay here kids. Be right back.

There it is.

Sweet.

Wait, come back! I'm stuck.

Ada!

-Arthur.
-Your brother's stuck on Hidden Hill.

-Oh no!
-I'll get a grownup.

No way. If my parents find out
I got stranded while watching you kids,

they won't let me come out to the park
without them until I'm 15.

That's forever years away.

-Can't he just walk across the creek?
-Walk across Critter Creek?

It's packed with Creek Critters.

My brother's friend's cousin
said they nibble on kids' toes.

Yikes.

We need to help Arthur
before the ice cream truck gets here.

The ice cream truck's here.

Got it. I could ask a mermaid
to give me a ride across the creek.

-Mermaids only live in oceans.
-Huh?

What? I read.
My dad does own a fantasy bookstore.

We could zip across on a zip line,
like in a spy movie.

I guesstimate we could
build it in about 10,800 seconds,

so three hours.

But by then it'll be dark
and the ice cream truck'll be gone.

True. What do you guys think?

Super springy dance shoes.

-A catapult.
-Giant eagles.

Iggy, do you have any ideas?

Yeah, Iggy,
I kinda need my toes to play tennis.

It might not work but my idea is a bridge?

-Perfect.
-Winner!

So why didn't you wanna tell us?

Well, I've tried to design bridges before,
but they always fall apart.

We'll help you.
Engineers build bridges all the time.

You gotta share the load
with your friends, right guys?

Yeah, I guess so.

Let me guess,
you three wanna get your ice cream?

-What?
-No.

Go. You came for Free Ice Cream Day.
We'll help Iggy.

-Okay bye.
-See ya.

Before we get a brain freeze,
we need a brainstorm.

What kind of bridge should it be?

A rainbow bridge. Lots of unicorns
walk across them every day.

But rainbows are made of light.

And since I'm not actually a unicorn,
I'd fall right through. Whoa!

Right. Excellent point.

What about an ice bridge?
We can get ice from the ice cream truck.

That would be cool, but it's hot out,
so the ice would probably melt.

That ice would not be nice.

We could make a bridge
like the Golden Gate Bridge, my favorite.

I love the design,

but what if it falls apart
like my other bridges?

We're here to help this time.
Let's look at the bridge.

It's one of the longest,
tallest suspension bridges ever made.

And it's one
of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

It has a deck, which is hung below cables,
which are connected to towers,

and the deck's weighed down on both sides,
so it's not all loosey-goosey.

Sweet. But you're gonna
test the bridge first, right?

I don't want my toes Creek Critter snacks.

Yes.

First, we need to make a model.

We're gonna need popsicle sticks,
lots of 'em.

Maybe Scoop Dog has some extras.

-Awesome-possum.
-Perfect.

Loading the lab.

Okay, show us how you usually test it
so we can see what happens.

I do load tests to see how much
weight it can hold. Ada, can you get a--

Weight?

Perfect. The bridge is holding.
Now load test two, the bucket test.

To see if it stays steady
if something heavy pulls down on it.

Hey, still holding.

And finally, the Iggy test.

I'm nervous.
This is where it usually falls apart.

My bridge got Iggy'd.

Again.

Creek Critters
are gonna snack on Arthur's toes for sure.

Don't worry.

Like my mom
and Great Aunt Rose always say,

we just have to work the problem.

Whoa!

Whoa!

This is what I was afraid of.

I should just never
try to design a bridge ever again.

I give up

I can't do it, gonna quit

Can't get through it, hit a wall

It's so impossible
When all I see are obstacles

Afraid I'm gonna fail and so I quit

There's no use in trying

There's no way that we can win

Don't give up, don't give in

Gotta get right back up and try again

Mistakes can be lucky breaks

A happy accident along the way

Don't give up, don't give in

Maybe you'll make failure your best friend

And try, try, try

Gotta get up and try again

Yeah. If we could get
a closer look at the Golden Gate Bridge,

we could figure it out.

Wait, we can.

Let's see that picture
of the bridge in your book.

We can supersize this picture.

Let's go to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Wow! This is incredible.

-This bridge has a stiffening truss.
-What now?

A backup deck
that gives the bridge a boost.

I've never used a stiffening truss
on any of the bridges I designed.

That must be
why our test bridges fell apart.

I think I just connected the polka dots.

Something important was missing.

Extra parts to help hold up the weight.

Yep, the bridge
is reinforced with materials

that make it super-duper-trooper strong.

If one part fails,
extra parts hold it up until it's fixed.

I get it, each part shares the load,

just like I needed
to share the load with my friends.

-Exactly.
-Yep.

-Whoa!
-Hang on.

So, did you test the bridge?

-Yep. All our tests failed.
-What? I'm stuck forever?

But we figured out why
and we're gonna make one that works.

Hear that, toes? We're gonna be okay.

New bridge, with Rosie Revere,
engineer's reinforcements.

Let's make a bridge and test it.

And done.

And now the moment of truth.

It didn't break.

Now we have to build it for real.
We're gonna need help.

Ta-da! We're back.
The line was too long, and we wanna help.

-You're gonna need a team.
-We've got your backs.

-Thank you.
-Thanks.

-Sorry you're missing free ice cream.
-It's okay.

Saving you is more important
than sweet gooey Cookie-saurus.

I mean, no problem.

Okay everybody, here's what we're making.

Whoa.

We made a bridge.

Hey, can I walk across it now?

Oh, yes.

Cross your fingers and toes.

My brother's friend's cousin
said you gotta if you cross Critter Creek.

Easy does it.

No toe left behind.

Almost there.

-Oh no.
-Please make it.

Come on.

I made it. Thanks kids.

-Huh?
-Where's he going?

I had to get these
for you guys before Scoop Dog left.

Iggy gets first dibs
for keeping my toes in one piece.

Here's your Cookie-saurus Rex.

Oh, thanks Arthur.

Thanks for believing in me guys.

That's what friends are for.

So gooey, so sweet and chocolatey.
It's perfect.

But finally designing a bridge
that doesn't fall apart

and saving Arthur is the cherry on top.

Plus, now everybody
gets to have fun on Hidden Hill.

Without worrying about Creek Critters.

And now for Miguel and Rosie's contest.

Ready, set,

ice cream!

Brain freeze.

"Pitch Perfect."

Tents, check.

Fishing rods?

-Check.
-Air beds, check.

Thanks Dad.
Give it to the Octo-Packer, please.

Wow.

I'm impressed.
Your Octo-Packer found the perfect spot.

I programmed it
to find the scientifically perfect spot.

-We're here.
-Hi Iggy.

-Hi.
-Iggy, Rosie.

Everybody excited for our camping trip?

Oh, I so am.
I can't wait to see the constellations,

like Orion,
the Big and Little Dippers, Scorpius.

I'm going to make huge s'mores
so Bigfoot'll camp with us.

And I brought binoculars
specially enhanced to spot him.

Bigfoot?

The scary, really tall creature
that growls, stomps,

and maybe, we don't know, eats you?

Bigfoot gets a bad rap.
He's probably just a big ol' teddy bear.

If you say so, but I'm not so sure.

How do the Bigfoot binoculars work?

They detect hairiness and big feet.

It's Bigfoot.

I'm ready to go.

It's only Arthur.

Still working out the kinks.

Let's get this show on the road.
I'll take first shift.

Here we are.

-So what do we do first? Fish?
-Find a place to see the stars?

Start making s'mores?

Well, the first thing we're gonna do
is pretty action-packed.

We're gonna--

What?

Unpack the car.

-Really?
-Oh man.

Okay, we're all unpacked. Now we--

-Fish?
-Watch the stars?

-Make s'mores?
-Now we--

Get the campsite ready!

-Okay.
-Really?

I'll chop wood for the fire.

-I'll hang the bear bag.
-Bear bag?

You put your stuff in a bag and hang it
so bears can't get to it.

We only saw one once.

Let's pitch some tents
and get our minds off bears.

Bigfoot'll save us from bears.

Who will save us from Bigfoot?

Pitching a tent is like life, kids.

You get the pieces,
but you have to put it all together.

Now for something really exciting,
Twisty's ABCs of tent pitching.

A, anchor, B, build, C, chill.

Let's start with A, anchor.

Pick the right spot,
then lay the ground work.

Nope, not here.

This is gonna take forever.

-When do we get to pitch the tents?
-Not here.

We can make a machine to pitch the tents.

If we use science, it'll be faster.

And we can do
the stuff we wanna do sooner.

-Oh, I'm in.
-Good thinking.

-Dad.
-Huh?

Your eyeball.

We're gonna figure out
how to pitch a tent fast with science.

This is science.

Okay, stay where I can see you.

So, where do we start?

Where all of our best ideas do,
with a brainstorm.

Brainstorm, brainstorm

Throw in every thought you've had
No idea's ever bad

Brainstorm, brainstorm

Gather up your friends and try
To find the how, the what, the why

Brainstorm, brainstorm

Let our imaginations

Become great new creations when we

Brainstorm, brainstorm

Brainstorm, brainstorm, hey!

I got it. We can make a tiny tent from
a material that grows when put in water.

But what if it rains
and the tent keeps growing?

That's scarier than a bear
and Bigfoot combined.

Here's an idea, no tents.

We could sleep in giant inflatable ba*ls.

They're inflatable,
big enough to climb inside, and fun.

But what happens
if they roll away with us inside them?

Yeah, we wouldn't sleep very well,
and we'd be cranky.

But that gives me an idea.

What about a machine
to pitch an inflatable tent?

Tent-tastic idea.

It'll speed things up for sure.
I'll start designing.

Let's get supplies.

-We're ready to build.
-Loading the lab.

Let's get building.

Tent pitching
engineering masterpiece done.

Press this button,
the tube fills with air,

which activates the tent poles
made from balloons.

Rosie rule number 32 comes through.

Amazing.

Let's pitch it. Hit it, Iggy.

The tent's being sucked into the tube.
Shut it down.

Iggy, you're the closest.

What if it sucks me in?

-You can do it.
-You got it.

Okay, for science!

I did it?

I did it!

-You did it!
-Yay Iggy!

Everything alright?

Working out some kinks.

Okay.

Let's investigate what happened.

I see the problem.

The pump has an inflate and deflate mode.

It's on deflate.

Let's try again after we patch the holes.

I know exactly what we need.

Rosie rule number 45,

always carry more stickers
than you'd ever need.

Nice. I'll reset the machine
to inflate this time.

It's working.

Yes!

Too well. Turn it off!

Flyaway tent!

Oh no!

This isn't an engineering masterpiece,
it's an engineering disaster-piece.

-Arthur.
-Watch out!

Huh?

Backhand.

Mom, Dad, watch out!

What in the--

Grab the pots, I'll get the tent.

Got it.

Got 'em. Whoa!

Got 'em.

-Balloons?
-What happened?

Sorry. We wanted to help Dad
pitch the tents faster with science,

but things got outta control.

Sweets, just because
I don't have a high-tech machine

doesn't mean my old-school way
to pitch tents isn't scientific.

Let me show you.

Anybody know why this is a good place
to lay the ground sheet?

I know. 'Cause it's flat.

There are no twigs
or pebbles and stuff on the ground.

That's why you were searching the ground.

You were looking for the best spot,
like the Octo-Packer did with our stuff.

Very scientific, Dad.

Right. Next, we anchor it with stakes
to make sure it stays in the ground.

Oh right.
Mister Twist's ABCs of tent pitching.

A, anchor.

Yep. Now give it a strong stomp.
Make sure it's really in there.

We didn't do this with our tent.
Probably why it flew away.

Exactly. Now pass me the poles
so we can move on to B, build.

Okay.

Poles have to be
the right length and material, like these.

These poles won't pop
'cause they're not made with balloons.

Right. Now I'll pull it up
to make a dome shape.

Awesome.

That dome design is fierce.

The dome is fierce,
but it's also functional.

The rain rolls off,
and the wind flows around the curves.

Fantastic engineering.

Pitching a tent your way
really is scientific.

And architectural. Mind blown.

And "engineerical."

I mean, it uses engineering.

It's all of that.

Now you know the science of tent-pitching,
let's finish up before dark.

Okay, tents are pitched,
bear bag's hung, wood's chopped.

Now we move on
to the last part of Twisty's ABCs, chill.

-Fish?
-S'mores?

Stars?

-You know it.
-Yes.

-Yay.
-Let's camp!

-I got a fish on the line.
-Huh?

-Come on, Lil' A.
-Reel it in, baby.

It's a polka dot fish. Fascinating.

Wow.

Fabulous fish.

Back you go little fishy.

Come on, Bigfoot.
I know you're around here somewhere.

There's Orion's Belt, and the Big--

-Bigfoot!
-No, the Big Dipper.

No, I mean, I reprogrammed my binocs

to detect growls
and hairiness and big feet

and I heard a growl.

It's not Bigfoot.

It's only my dad.

I'll be Bigfoot if it means
I'll get some of that giant s'more.

Give me s'more.
