I'm Julie Chen.

Welcome to "Big Brother ."

It's day and it has been an expl*sive week

inside the "Big Brother" house.

Tonight, we will officially confirm to the house guests

what they have been suspecting--

that every one of them started playing this game

with a secret partner.

It's a summer of secrets.

Only five pairs remain in the house.

And for the first time, the house guests

will find out that if one of these duos

makes it to the end of the game as the last two standing,

the runner up will win $,, while the winner

will go home with the largest prize in "Big Brother"

history--

$ million.

Right now, let's take a live look inside.

With the "Big Brother" house divided, it's a whole new game.

After winning Head of Household last week,

Kaysar, the graphic designer from Irvine, California,

nominated two housemates for eviction--

James, the loss prevention manager

from Atlanta, Georgia, and Maggie,

the emergency room nurse from Las Vegas, Nevada.

But James won the golden power of veto

and removed himself from the chopping block.

In his place, Kaysar nominated Eric, the firefighter

originally from Boston, Massachusetts.

Now, for the first time, secret partners have been

pitted against one another.

Good friends, Eric and Maggie, find

themselves nominated together.

Which partners stay in the Big Brother house is almost over.

And how is this pair handling the inevitable--

being split apart?

Obviously, I am choosing to use

the veto nomination on myself.

I knew that was going to flip this whole thing upside down

and that this was going to cause a revolution in

this "Big Brother " household.

I'm going to have to nominate Eric.

It didn't surprise me in the least

that James took himself off.

And it didn't surprise me in the least that Kaysar put me up.

And I didn't look at either one of them,

because they're not even worth my eyesight.

Don't sweat it, brother.

Don't sweat it.

Seriously, don't sweat it, guys, at all.

No. I'm not.

- I'm just asking. - I won't say anything.

I appreciate it.

I was just trying to be nice and let

them know, no hard feelings.

And they pretty much wanted absolutely

nothing to do with me.

From the beginning, Eric has said,

you know, it's not personal, it's a game.

But he's just not living by his words.

And unfortunately, they're acting very immature about it.

That doesn't mean you have to like them, as a person.

Exactly. Exactly.

And that's OK.

I hope you can live with that decision.

I know that Eric's leaving or I'm leaving.

Either way, we are leaving each other.

And, you know, that's sad.

From the moment I walked into this house,

my heart completely belonged to Cappy.

And my heart will stay there.

I'm not going to switch sides just for the sake

that one team might win.

It's funny how three people can just take over--

A group of nine.

Yeah.

I tell you.

They played the game good.

I got to give them that.

Just relax, Ivette.

That could be the sweetest revenge of all.

I don't know you, but I was totally blindsided.

If they think that I'm smarter and more strategic

and I know I'm like down to, probably, , at this point.

I'd have to say Ivette.

Very stylish, she has it going, and I think she could give me

Maggie is a strong player in this game.

She's a very, very, very strong woman--

very strong willed, very confident.

She's one of my closest friends in the house,

probably even more so than April.

I don't really like her.

She doesn't really have her own opinions.

I love Eric to death, too.

He's a strong player.

And so he would help me out-- me being a part of his group.

Eric was always crying and crying about his family,

and his wife giving birth, and stuff.

And I felt like he was using those stories

to kind of get to the girls.

Eric-- he is a wonderful man.

For someone to sit there and put their life

on the line, every single day, that says something about Eric.

You know what?

Right now, I'm just so disappointed in Eric.

I vote to evict Eric.

I vote to evict Maggie.

As much as I hate to do this, I vote to evict Maggie.

Kaysar, the son of Iraqi immigrants,

Janelle, a girl born and raised in the Midwest.

Now they've teamed up inside the house.

How do their families feel about this odd couple

working together?

By Kaysar being in the "Big Brother" house, having

the house guests drink or the girls

be outside in their bikinis, it's

totally different from what we were brought up to.

We moved to the United States years ago-- me, and my wife,

and my son, Kaysar.

We came here for freedom.

It was not save in my country, in Iraq.

Kaysar-- he is in a different culture.

They know he's different.

Every day, every minute, every second I pray for him.

You're from--

Minnesota.

Minnesota.

Minnesota.

Ja, ja.

You bet ya.

Oh my god.

Janelle, growing up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota,

she has never cared to live in northern Minnesota.

It has never had enough pizazz.

She always stood out as something

that doesn't naturally grow here, in Grand Rapids.

When Janelle was in high school, she was very athletic.

She was a very determined child.

She always had to have her way.

She was a very strong willed child.

I am not ready to give up.

I will fight.

I'm a fighter.

I don't care.

That's why I know, as a competitor,

she'll do well in the game.

I believe Janelle has been pegged

as the outcast in the game because she

doesn't let a whole lot of people

ever get too close to her.

She never really has.

She's not one to just go up and make friends.

I also think she went in there playing kind of the ditsy-- oh,

you know, I'm just all into my looks,

and I don't have a brain cell in my head type.

You know, she really is very well read and very intelligent.

There's plenty of beautiful girls,

not that many beautiful girls that have

more of a complete package.

You're so nice to me.

I'm glad, too.

Janelle would probably not be the typical person Kaysar

will associate himself with.

I think you're smarter than a lot of these people here.

I honestly think you're smarter.

I try.

Janelle, she's a very intelligent girl.

We really like the way that she acts.

And I think that's why Kaysar has picked up on her.

Well, let's hope that if someone's going to win,

it's going to be either Kaysar, or Janelle, or Howie.

They thought they were going to get rid of the outsider--

Kaysar and Janelle-- but they thought wrong, so--

I think one of the reasons that Janelle and Kaysar teamed

up is because she's always liked people

that have been very different.

The fact that he's from the Middle East, the fact

that he is opposite of her, I think that's what

draws her to him as an ally.

Do you ever feel like there's like a lot

of negative people around you.

Mm, hm.

Just people around here-- they're so negative and, like,

always trying to tear me down.

People characterize my brother and Janelle as an outsider.

By them joining forces, I think we'll bring down the house.

What can you tell us about this alliance?

Um-- this alliance, sort of, was sprung from circumstance.

And that was just because she lost her partner first

and then I had lost mine.

So naturally, I think, we just sort of just

came together because of what was left over.

I began to trust her, I began to understand her,

and to see that she could be trusted,

because she listens to me.

And, at the same time, I could gain a lot from her.

And that's why.

Well, Eric put your partner, Michael, on the chopping block.

Right.

Then you nominated Eric and his partner, Maggie.

Right.

Are your nominations, in a way,

payback for Michael's eviction?

Um--

In a way, they are.

There was many things I wanted to do this week.

I wanted to send a ripple, you know, through this household.

And I think I did that.

I wanted to-- it was sort of retribution

for what happened to Michael.

And -, sort of.

It was payback.

I feel like he was wronged.

Yeah.

Well, your nominations have definitely created

a big stir in the house.

Do you think this will make you a target?

I think-- if they know what's best for them,

I think it will definitely make me a target next week.

How is everyone reacting now that the truth

is starting to come out?

Secrets are being revealed, pairs are stepping forward,

and house guests are opening up.

But what is all this new information

doing to everyone's strategy?

From day one, when Rachel and I moved into this house,

we knew that we were the only pair,

but I just had this sense that something was out of place

in the house, and that people knew each other,

and I had suspicions.

But we didn't know for sure.

After the veto competition, Eric came into the house,

you know, like a bat out of hell.

Sarah, don't think I don't know you're with James either.

We needed to change the subject.

It calmed down and settled down a little bit.

We started sharing some secrets.

I can't even look at anybody the same anymore.

Oh, we're all liars!

I don't even have a college degree.

I still want to be a professor.

That's all true.

And out of everyone, James has lied the most.

I'm James, I'm .

I'm a-- I was a high school teacher.

He has lied about Sarah, of course--

which I know we all lied about coming in,

you know, with a pair.

If Eric and I spill the beans, will

everyone who has admitted that they're paired up

spill the beans, too.

Yes.

You should have known who the couples were weeks ago.

You know, people really wanted to hear

it from the horse's mouth.

Maggie and I have known each other for a number of years.

And Maggie is like an aunt to my children.

I was absolutely shocked to find out that everybody in the house

had a pair.

Ashley and I met last summer.

We have mutual friends.

And we became friends because we were in Europe together.

I moved in with her when I moved to Miami from LA.

We met at a coffee shop.

He tried to show off, and like talk to me in Arabic,

because he knows Arabic, too.

He's a good guy.

I know he is.

When I found out that Rachel and Howie

knew each other for years, I was really shocked.

My first reaction was to deny everything.

I have no idea who Beau is.

Me and Rachel, we know each other.

Eric and Maggie, they know each other.

It was kind of weird.

April and Jen didn't know each other,

Well, it was a quick ride from first to worst.

There were some deals made that were broken.

And I realize that that's part of the game.

What deals?

And did you break any of those deals?

Well, as soon as-- the biggest change for me

was as soon as Maggie went up.

We had discussed that, obviously,

prior to coming in here.

And when she went up on the block for nomination,

I knew I had to play my cards.

Basically, they put me all in and I had to call them on that.

So with her being up, I had to help lobby to get James out

because she was my first loyalty.

Because of that, along with the fact

that Kaysar, basically, ahead of time, which I--

without my knowledge-- had broken his deal that he had

with me, when he swore that I was safe because I had kept him

safe the week before-- so with those two variables

falling into place, I was pretty much done.

So-- - Yeah.

Kaysar is the one who nominated you.

Correct.

Did you underestimate him as a player?

I think at first I did.

I think he kind of played the--

almost like the shy, quiet, religious guy.

And-- - You don't buy it?

You don't think that's him?

No, not for a minute.

If you watched him this week, and you watched

his body language, and you watched the things that he did,

he's, uh--

he's been coined in the house King Kaysar

because that's the way he's walking around.

But that's part of the game.

Part of the game is being able to hide yourself and not--

but for me, I just--

for anybody that knows me knows I just can't do that.

So I had to go with what brought me.

And-- and it got me this far, so--

Eric, what will you tell your kids about the whole "Big

Brother" experience?

I will tell them that, uh--

that their father is still a man of his word.

Always has been, always will be.

And that money is not everything.

The best thing that I got out of this whole process

was the friendships that I've gained that I never expected.

And those will probably last me a lot

longer than the money would.

And that's the most important thing.

The HOH is safe for a week, but must nominate

two people for eviction.

Yesterday, the house guests had a chance to practice

for this evening's competition.

With the house divided down the middle,

winning HOH is more important than ever.

Who has what it takes to be the new Head of Household?

We're about to find out.

House guests, the power is up for grabs.

Kaysar, as outgoing Head of Household,

you cannot participate in this competition.

Tonight, we're going to get things rolling with a game

we call Power Roller.

Each of you will step up to one of the lanes.

You'll be given one roll of the ball.

The goal is to come as close as possible to the hole

at the end of the lane without your ball falling in.

Whoever comes closest to that hole

will be the new Head of Household.

But be careful, there are other holes scattered

throughout the playing field.

Remember, if your ball falls in any of the holes,

you're out of the game.
