[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

You know this map indicates
the old Bull Frog mine...

is about 30 miles northeast of here.

Do you know the place?

That there's all government land
out there, government owns it.

Government owns pretty near
everything these days, if y'ask me.

Uh-huh.

I understand they haven't worked
the mine in quite a long time.

Worked!

Why, that old Bull Frog ain't even been
remembered about for the last 20 years.

How much further do
go
before the turn-off?

Well, it's about ten miles
down that road...

then you take the little
dirt road on the right.

Thank you very much.

POP: You betcha.

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

Hello, Mack?

Thought you might just wanna
spruce things up a little over there.

You got a man named Goldman coming.

He's on his way right now.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Hello, Oscar.

Hello, MacGregor.

That guard down there.

You could've made this look a little more
like a legitimate government project.

We brought this bunch of
hoodlum d*adbeats here...

to get gold out of this mountain
quickly and quietly, period.

We're not paying them
to try to look legitimate.

How much so far?

Well, how's 25 million sound?

Mined and processed?

And ready to go.

Say, that's not bad, MacGregor.

FLIGHT COM:
It looks good at NASA One.

B- 52 ]PILOT:
Roger.

BCS Arm switch is on.

FLIGHT COM:
Okay, Victor.

B-52 PILOT:
Landing Rocket Arm switch is on.
Here comes the throttle.

Circuit breakers in.

STEVE:
We have separation.

B-52 PILOT:
Inboard and outboards are on.

I'm comin' forward with the side stick.

FLIGHT COM:
Looks good.

PILOT:
Ah, Roger.

STEVE:
I've got a blowout in damper three.

SR-71 PILOT:
Get your pitch to zero.

STEVE:
Pitch is out. I can't hold altitude!

B-52 PILOT: Correction. Alpha Hold is all“.
Threat selector is emergency.

STEVE: Flight Com. I can't hold it!
She's breaking up! She's breaking--

ANNOUNCER:
Steve Austin. Astronaut.

A man barely alive.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him.

We have the technology.

We have the capability
to make the world's first bionic man.

Steve Austin will be that man.

Better than he was before.

Better, stronger, faster.

[MAIN TITLE THEME]

[METAL CREAKING]

[PHONE RINGING]

Oh, naturally...

[METAL CREAKING]

Hello.

Colonel Austin?

Colonel, this is Miss Farrell.

I found a message that you'd
called Mr. Goldman earlier.

Oh, hi there, pretty lady.

Yeah, I just wanted to confirm
this afternoon, is he in?

This afternoon?

Hey, what's up with your ever-efficient
calendar there, Farrell?

This is Monday morning.

Oscar and I've got a meeting
with the Joint Chiefs at 4:00.

Well, yes, yes of course,
I have it marked down here...

but Mr. Goldman isn't with you.

What is it, Farrell?
What's the matter?

Well, nothing... I...

Hey, come on.

You two've got a communications set-up
the telephone company would envy.

You're telling me
you don't know where he is?

Miss Farrell... ?

I don't know where he is.
Not since Friday morning.

Friday? But you two follow that check-in
procedure as much on weekends as--

Not this weekend.

Not once.

His last check-in was from
the airport in Las Vegas.

He used the right code words,
nothing seemed to be wrong...

Well, wait a minute.
Las Vegas?

Now what was Oscar doing--

Look, never mind,
I'll be right over.

Are you sure that when he did make
that one check-in from Vegas...

he used your code word for vacation?

Positive.

Come to think of it,
it didn't sound right, even then.

There was no specific address.

All the paperwork he wanted
to review for your meeting today...

it's still here on his desk.

He had a lot phone calls to return.

Now wait a minute!
I'm not even allowed in that drawer.

Code L-611.

Well, it's empty.

Nobody carries that kind of stuff
around with him without the envelope.

Lithanium.

What?

That Code L-611,
the L is for Lithanium.

Well, that's that new by-product
of gold smelting, isn't it?

I think so. Prospective source
of energy, or something.

But that file belongs with Bert Carrington
over at Mining And Research Division.

It certainly shouldn't be here.

Oscar probably borrowed it.

No one just borrows
a 611 file, Colonel.

Not even Oscar Goldman.

No, this is terribly wrong
this file being here.

Well, the file isn't here.
It's just the envelope.

Mr. Carrington's whole career...

I mean to let a 611 file out
of his hands, it could ruin him.

Bert Carrington.

Sure that's Oscar's old college buddy.

Yes.
You better get him on the phone.

CARRINGTON: Oscar sent us the
Lithanium project for a feasibility series.

After a couple of months...

I began to realize that someone
was siphoning over data...

copying the maps detailing
our available gold resources.

I went to Oscar about it.

He told me not to do a thing,
to let him investigate.

Well, I waited...

And then Oscar began
sending me equipment orders...

to pay vouchers to sign for mining
operations somewhere in Nevada.

I filled the orders,
signed things.

I trusted Oscar,
he's my oldest friend.

I just assumed he was giving
whoever it was enough rope.

What are you getting at,
Mr. Carrington?

Steve, there's a government mine
being worked somewhere...

and at Oscar's request, my name
is on every piece of paper...

that enables it to be worked,
illegally.

Not for the Lithanium by-product.

Not for the government.

But for the gold.

What about Oscar?

He made me promise not
to do anything until today.

He said he'd explain everything then.

I've held out longer
then I should.

If I don't hear from him by 5:30,
l have got to go to my superiors.

Look, anything you sent to Oscar Goldman's
office had to be recorded, filed.

He never let me send
any of it to his regular office.

Everything went by bonded messenger
to his office on Parker Street.

Parker Street?

But Oscar doesn't have any--

Mr. Carrington, what are you saying?

That Oscar Goldman is a crook?

That he's secretly operating
a government gold mine...

and keeping the gold for himself?

I'm telling you the facts.

You say he has no office
on Parker Street.

Here, a bonded messenger's
receipt of delivery.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Colonel!

I'll pay for the door.

Well, there's nothing.

Absolutely empty.

Yeah, too empty.

Unless it's only used
as a delivery address.

[BIONIC EYE SOUND EFFECT]

This isn't the most ethical
feeling I've ever had.

Miss Farrell, do you happen to know
how Oscar and I became friends?

Well, no, I never even
thought about it.

Your top secret security clearance...

How high are you, a six?

A six! Oh, no.

They only raised me to a four
because I work with Mr. Goldman.

Well, unless you close your eyes, your
security clearance is about to be raised.

[CREAKING]

It's a numbered Swiss bank account.

This is the stuff that belongs
in that 611 envelope.

Geological maps...

Southwestern Nevada.

These are gold mine
locations all marked with X's.

FARRELL:
Look at this one.

The Bull Frog.

It looks Oscar's handwriting...

Top secret files that don't belong
out of their own sealed envelopes.

What are they doing here?

You don't suppose that
Mr. Goldman--

Don't jump to conclusions.

Well, there are memos and vouchers...

and priority requisitions
all signed by him.

What are we supposed to believe?

You can believe in Oscar Goldman.

Look, call Carrington.

Tell him we got back his 611.

Tell him I'm on my way to Nevada.

Are you with me?

Yes, yes, of course I am.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Bull Frog mine, y'say?

Why, there's nothin' out
there but a stupid old fence.

Government paid a heap of money
to build right in the middle of nowhere.

That Bull Frog Mine's been
shut down for 20 years or more.

This is the right road here,
isn't it?

Well, it could be.

You know, you go
ten miles straight down...

then there's a little dirt road
coming in on the right.

But I tell you, Mister,
I can't remember, its been--

Well, Emma died right
after that weird snowfall, and
--

I'll tell you what,
I'll give it a try.

That's seven dollars, you say?

Oh, yeah, seven dollars even.

Ten full gallons.

Here you go, sir.
Thank you.

Look, you be careful scamperin'
around that desert out there.

Get yourself lost, son...

and you're not gonna be found
until the hunting season...

and I really don't know
when that is, you know?

Well, I'll be as careful as I can.

Good, Good.

[COIN CLINKS]

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

[TIRES SCREECHING]

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Well, Mister...

you're under arrest.

This here's government property
and you're trespassing.

Yeah, well, I figured
I did something wrong there.

Be simple to sh**t him right now.

No, no, no.

The penalty for trespassing
is hard labor, huh?

Why put it off?

Look, you just change the tire
and get his car to the mine.

[LAUGHS]

I got me a prisoner.

And he's gonna do
some hard labor...

just like any other trespasser.

Hop right in there, pretty boy.
Don't get your suit dirty.

Hang on.

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

[CAR HONKS]

Hey, you're Austin.
Steve Austin, right?

Connors, get those
cuffs off this man.

I'm sorry, Colonel...

but for all he knew
you were just anybody...

coming out to give us trouble.

I mean, uh...

Mr. Goldman did set us
straight on you, sir.

Mr. Goldman?

Yeah, come on in.

He's not available at the moment, but...

he's been saying all along you're the one
guy he'd like to have with us in this, yes?

Did he now?

Well, you bet.

He thinks pretty highly of you,
Mr. Goldman does.

Oh, that's very nice.

But what prompted Mr. Goldman
to think I might be dropping by?

l have no way I can guess how
he knows what he knows.

I mean, he put this whole deal
together all by himself.

Course, until he
is available to see you...

we'll have to keep you
sort of protected.

Protected...

from snakes?

Well, you know, it's like
all those old sayings...

a stitch in time,
an ounce of prevention.

Never knowin' who your friends are.

You see?

You see how he understands us?
That's terrific.

Connors here will be your--

Well, he'll stick with you until
Mr. Goldman is free to see you.

Well, looks like we might have time
for a little of that hard labor after all.

Well, I don't mind doing an honest
day's work every once in awhile.

You're liable to get a little dusty and
dirty down in a mine shaft, pretty boy.

No dirtier than it is up here.

Connors,
get him some work clothes.

Well, where's The Man?

Who?

The boss, Goldman.

I just work for him, buddy,
I don't date him.

[BIONIC EYE SOUND EFFECT]

Is that the local jailhouse?

That? No.
That's Building Number One.

They used to store the
gold there in the old days.

Some other guy waitin'
in there now.

Waitin' for Goldman, I guess.

You should've asked
to wait there, too, pretty boy.

'Fraid you're just gonna have to perspire a
little bit now like the rest've us been doing.

STEVE: You work as fast
as your mouth does?

[JACKHAMMER]

That's enough.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

Look out!

[WHEELS SQUEALING]

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

You all right?

How...how did you do that?

It runs in the family.

Thanks.

STEVE:
Anytime, pretty boy.

[COYOTES HOWLING]

MAN:
Hey, Jack, go get some coffee.

I'll stand guard.

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

[WOOD CREAKING]

[BIONIC EYE SOUND EFFECT]

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

[METAL CREAKING]

Oscar.

Oscar!
It's me, Steve.

Can you hear me?

Huh?

Oscar!
Ohh...

Listen to me,
you've been drugged.

Steve.
Can you hear me?

[GROANS]

Steve.

Come on!

They got you , too, huh?

How did I get us into this?

Look, Oscar, you've been set up.

In case you don't know it,
you've been planning to smuggle...

a few million in government gold
out of the country.

Huh?

Wait a minute...no,
there's something missing here.

My friend, no, no...

they were trying to frame my friend,
Burt Carrington, that's it.

But who? Who?

MacGregor, that's it, MacGregor!

Don't talk, come on,
I'll get you out of here.

He's the one that tried
to frame my friend Bert.

That's how it was!

Look, it wasn't just Carrington
they framed.

They nailed you both.

What?

There's enough incriminating evidence
against you right now to drown you.

Oh, Steve...

STEVE:
I've gotta get you out of here.

Steve... I don't think I can make it.

Look, Oscar...Oscar.

If you could stay awake during your
own escape, it sure would help things.

Uh-huh.

Come on.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Don't touch it.

[ELECTRIC BUZZ]

[ALARM SOUNDING]

[g*ns FIRING]

You're a lucky guy, Colonel.

If you weren't wearing such a valuable coat,
you'd a been extremely dead by now.

Put him down.

CONNORS:
Who's this other guy?

A friend of the family.

Now look, man, every one of us
here is involved in this gig...

we got a right to know
what's going on around here.

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

You like to talk to him
about it, Connors?

All right, get back where
you belong, all of you!

[GROANS]

Oscar, I haven't
seen you like this...

since we were both
thrown in the drunk tank...

for painting the
dean's office purple.

Welcome to my gold mine.

It's almost daylight.

Let me have some of that, Oscar.

Bert Carrington.

My friend.

My friend who went into
business for himself.

And making it look like you'd gone
into business for yourself.

Oscar, if that gold gets out of the country,
they'll be looking for you, not Carrington.

No...

secret office, incriminating evidence,
who's going to believe that?

Almost everybody, Oscar.

You made a flock of phone calls
from that office.

Didn't you know?

And you, MacGregor.

Finest engineer
in Carrington's office.

Okay, so he set you up
to take the fall.

But how did you let him
get you out here?

Without telling your own secretary?

I know, I know,
I should've smelled it.

But I didn't.

Go up there by yourself, he said.

I'm being framed, he said.

Keep it in the family.

You know, personal favor...

I thought I knew him.

Well, now you do.

Well...nice, little relaxing nap.

How about you boys?

You feeling better, Oscar?

About what?

About you safely taking
your loot out of the country?

Us, Oscar.

Our loot.

Please, come with me
as a willing partner.

You'll get one fourth of everything.

That's 25% of $25 million, Oscar.

For doing nothing...

except using your everyday VIP status...

to commandeer us a nice
big military cargo plane...

with clearance to Marseilles.

Thanks, Bert.

Well, look at it this way, Oscar.

Either go to prison as the criminal...

that the evidence
already says you are...

or go to Europe
as an ex-patriot millionaire.

You're mad, Bert.

Me? Mad?

For over 20 years now...

I've been better than poor Oscar,
here, at just about everything.

Now that's always sort
of bothered you.

Hasn't it, Oscar, huh?

l was better in school,
at sports...

with women.

Except when it came to money.

There, Oscar,
you always beat me.

But now, with him along
as my official...

top-ranking passport
out of the country...

with 25 million in gold...

Well, he's going to finally
help me beat him at that.

You mean, your oldest and dearest friend
plays along with you or he dies, is that it?

No, no, no...

Oscar either gets us
a plane out of here...

or you die.

He's not going to help you,
Carrington.

Mac, take this agitator out of here.

Up!

And keep one of the boys
with him this time.

I still say he's not gonna help you.

Well now, Oscar?

I can't believe it's you, Bert.

You doing this.

Please do believe it, Oscar.

It is me.

My God...

Oscar, telephone Neville Air Base.

Use that Priority One code
name of yours, Snow White.

Use that and the red tape
shall be parted...

and they will let my millions go.

[DIALS]

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

What about Steve Austin?

I'll make a call as soon as we land in
Marseilles and he'll be free as a bird.

We're all loaded.

I'll try to get rid of as
many tire marks as I can.

See you at the airport.

All right.

[CAR ENGINE STARTS]

I want this camp struck!

Clean it out so it looks like
nothing's been here for 25 years.

When that's done...

the bank in Vegas will have
your money orders ready for you.

Hold it, MacGregor!

Wait a minute, fellas!
Come here a second.

Look, I noticed the big man's
car's already split.

You and him are taking
a lion's share outta here.

So what's wrong with me and the boys
staying around here a while...

and gettin' us a little richer, huh?

If that's what you want...

but personally I give it about two days before
the Feds are crawling all over this place.

Well, I think we'll take our chances.

Right, fellas?

MACGREGOR:
Oh, Connors.

Who's with Austin?

Harry's got him.

I want you two to take a Jeep
and drive him out in the desert.

Far.

Couple days' walk at least.

Leave him a full canteen
of water and come on back.

MACGREGOR:
Oh, Eric?

Eric, you know what The Man
really wants done with Austin.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Will this be your first m*rder, or
do you already have a track record?

What does that mean?
What're you talking about?

Well, it isn't an easy thing to do,
to k*ll a man in cold blood...

unless you've done it a couple times.

You listening to this, Eric?

You should a wore a hat
out in this sun, buddy.

Ain't nobody gonna
go killin' nobody.

We're gonna take you out here,
give you a long walk back, and that's all.

I mean, look, we gotta have
time to get away too, you know?

Connors, I think one of us
is gonna get surprised.

There's no way you folks
can afford to turn me loose.

Isn't that right, Eric?

All right, that's about it for you
conversation-wise.

Out.

Well, would it be easier
for you fellas if I turn my back?

What are you talking about?

Are you crazy?

Eric, nobody said
anything about killin'!

ERIC:
Give me that g*n, Connors!

What?
Gimme the g*n!

Now wait a minute!

He saved my life!
I don't care, give me the g*n!

[METAL CREAKING]

You want to unlock these
and tell me where the gold is?

Now that you put it that way.

[BIONIC EYE SOUND EFFECT]

[BIONIC SOUND EFFECT]

[BIONIC EYE SOUND EFFECT]

Pretty nervous driver, aren't you?

Oscar, you just believe you're
gonna get shot instantly...

if you goof this up.

Yes, sir.

Snow White, Priority One.

Yes, sir, Mr. Goldman.

Lieutenant?

Lieutenant Evers, sir.

We'll escort you to your plane.

If you'll follow us, please.

Thank you, Lieutenant.

Mr. Goldman,
I'm Major Conlan, your pilot.

Fine.

We'll be ready for take off
in five minutes.

Major, we have
another vehicle coming.

A truck should be here shortly.

I'll take care of it.

Excuse me, sir.

Lieutenant!
There's another vehicle coming.

Escort them in!

Very cooperative here.

That's nice.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Yes, sir.

Snow White cargo vehicle.

Right.
You're expected.

Here's your escort now, sir.

You're doing fine.
Just keep on trucking.

Think you can get this rig onto
the plane or do you want me to do it?

Well, I got this far
without any dents, didn't I?

Gotcha! Okay,
I'll guide you up the ramp.

Thanks.

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Mac, everything in order?

Yes, sir!

Major!

Yes, sir.

We're all aboard.

You can take off any time now!

Right, sir!

Okay, Pete, button it up!

Who are you?

Colonel Austin. Air Force.
I gotta get into that plane.

Now just a minute.

There's no time, Lieutenant!

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

[BIONIC SOUND EFFECT]

Ow!

Ahh!

George!

George!

Come on, Oscar.

Come on!

So what kept you?

Sir?

Nevada Highway Patrolmen picked
up all the men at the mine.

Seems as though they decided to stay
on and do a little mining on their own.

Thank you, Lieutenant.

Colonel Austin?

Sir, about the way that
you got up into that plane...

Those Air Force exercises,
Lieutenant. Every morning.

Thank you very much,
Lieutenant.

Now Carrington told me
that he'd always beaten you.

Ever since school,
at everything.

That's true.

Well, this time he lost.

So did I, pal.

Well, let's get that car
and get back to your office.

You've got a few things
to straighten out.

[END THEME MUSIC]
