01x11 - The Spider-Woman and the Fly

Post by bunniefuu »

MAN: Look, up on the building!
It's Spider-Woman!

NARRATOR:
And this is Jessica Drew,

who as a child while visiting
her father's laboratory,

was bitten by a poisonous spider.

Forced to try an untested spider serum,

Dr. Drew not only saved
his daughter's life,

but unknowingly gave her
incredible spider-like powers.

Dedicated to fighting evil
while weaving her web of justice,

it's Spider-Woman!

[SHUTTER THUDS]

[CHUCKLES]

This is what the boss is looking for.

I hate to bother you,
but what do you think you're doing?

Ooh, I thought
this was the county library.

No, but I'd be glad to show you
the way to the county jail.

[MAN GRUNTS]
[SPIDER-WOMAN THUDS]

He sure is strong for his size.

That's right. I'm a bionic m*dget.
[CHUCKLES]

See you later, spider-fool.

Hmm.

I wonder what that little guy
could have wanted

with my father's research journal.

I'll have to figure it out later.

Right now I've got to meet Jeff and Billy
at the government research foundation.

Did you get the journal?

Spider-Woman took it away from me
just before I escaped.

She never suspected
that I photographed it first

with my bionic eye camera.
[CHUCKLES]

Excellent. According to Dr. Drew's notes,
everything we've done so far is perfect.

Drew was a brilliant scientist,

but when it came to understanding power,
he was a fool.

He stopped our biological research

when we were on the verge
of our greatest discovery.

But we shall soon finish it.

All we need to complete the project

are the genetically cloned flies
from the government's research foundation.

Don't worry, Dr. Hagell.
They're as good as ours.

Golly, they look like
ordinary house flies to me.

DR. REED:
Those are no ordinary flies, Billy.

They've been genetically cloned
from one fly.

Dr. Reed won the National Science Award
for his biological research.

Wow.

Dr. Reed's research
is gonna be the featured article

in this week's Justice Magazine.

One last question, Dr. Reed.

Is the research your lab is conducting
dangerous in any way?

DR. REED:
It's like any other research, Miss Drew,

in the wrong hands,
it could be disastrous.

JESSICA:
Let's hope that never happens.

Well, that wraps up
our interview, Dr. Reed.

Thanks for everything.

[SCRATCHING]

One of the insect tanks has been opened.

BILLY: Look! That little guy
is stealing the flies.

Stop him.

This oversized scorpion
looks all cooped up.

Stand back! That scorpion is deadly.

[SCORPION CRIES]

So long.

JESSICA:
What are we gonna do, Jeff?

Well, uh, uh, uh...

Don't worry, Jessica.

At least you'll be safe
in the storage closet.

There's barely room for a spider in here,
let alone a Spider-Woman.

Well, here goes nothing.

Now for some super spider action.

First, I have to get out of here.

Hmm. This air vent should do the trick.

Thanks, Spider-Woman. You saved our lives.

It's all in a day's work.
I'll be seeing you.

Come on.
Let's get Jessica out of the closet.

She's gone!

But that's impossible.

Are you guys all right?

You missed all the excitement,
Aunt Jessica.

Spider-Woman saved us.

I don't understand it.

Those cloned flies he stole
are of no value to anyone.

JESSICA:
Cloned flies. Just a spider second.

That spider that bit me as a child

was the same type of genetic mutation
as the cloned fly.

And that same little crook tried to steal
my father's journal.

I wonder...

Come on, guys.
There's more story here than we expected.

Let's get back to Justice Magazine.

DR. HAGELL:
At last, we're ready to complete

the most incredible biological
experiment in history.

Prepare the genetic transformer.

[CRACKLES]

With the help of this tiny cloned fly,

I shall advance science a thousand years
in a matter of seconds.

The transformer is ready, Dr. Hagell.

Master switches on.

[CRACKLING]

[BUZZING]
[ALARMS BLARING]

Oh, no! Something must have gone wrong.

You! You changed into a fly.

Nothing went wrong, you fool.

I'm now a superhuman fly.

Now I can get my revenge
on Dr. Drew's colleagues

and the government scientists
who stopped my research.

[CHUCKLES]

BILLY:
I still don't understand

why anyone would want to steal
a bunch of worthless flies.

Maybe they were fishing
and ran out of worms.

[BUZZING]

Hey, do you hear that buzzing?

What buzzing?

I don't hear a thing.

It's probably nothing.

JESSICA: Nothing but my super sensitive
spider hearing.

Flittering fly traps.

A giant fly is attacking the technicians
in my father's laboratory.

I've got to spin a spider trick
that will get me there in time.

Jeff, I thought I told you to fill up
the jet-copter before we left.

I did.

Uh, I thought I did.

There's no time to think about it now.

Better drop down
to that gas station below.

JEFF: No need to check under the hood.
Just fill it up.

JESSICA:
Uh, there's something I want to check on.

I'll meet you at the office.

Now to get to my father's lab and quick.

DR. HAGELL: There's no escape for you.
No one can stop the Fly.

JESSICA: Except a spider. A Spider-Woman,
that is.

I've been expecting you, Spider-Woman.

Sorry, Fly,
but Mother Nature's on my side.

[BUZZING]

A very clever spider trick.
But not clever enough.

[HAGELL CHUCKLES]

[BUZZING]

Oh! That buzzing
is rattling my spider bones.

[SPIDER-WOMAN THUDS]

I can't move.

Jeff, look!
That creature's got Spider-Woman.

Come on, she needs help.

A spider used to be a fly's worst enemy,
Spider-Woman.

But now, it's the other way around.
[CHUCKLES]

Hurry! Spider-Woman
is falling like a rock.

I may be able to snag her
on the landing gear. Hang on.

We missed her.

I can barely move.

Only got a second to spin a spider line.

No, we got her.

That fool Spider-Woman
won't get away that easily.

I'll get her yet.

[BUZZING]

[ALARM BEEPING]
What's that buzzing sound?

My ultrasonic buzzing
will rattle their helicopter to pieces.

[LAUGHS]

Got to spray web fluid in my ears

to protect me from that paralyzing buzz.

[WHIRRING]

[EXHALES]
There. That's better.

Oh, no. We're headed
straight for the ground.

Tumbling tarantulas.

I'll get you, Spider-Woman.

You'll regret this. I promise you.

I've got to find a way
to destroy Spider-Woman.

Judging by her spider abilities,
she must be a mutation just like me.

Wait a minute. That's it.
Dr. Drew's journal.

"And after my daughter Jessica

barely survived the bite of one
of my deadly cloned spiders,

I stopped all research."

I should have known it all along.

Dr. Drew's daughter, Jessica,
is Spider-Woman.

Dr. Drew's research not only gave birth
to Spider-Woman,

it will help me destroy her.
[CHUCKLES]

Golly, Aunt Jessica, you missed
another super spider battle

between Spider-Woman and that giant fly.

Oh, well, you guys just have all the luck.

I don't know, Jessica.

I'm beginning to wonder
why you're never around

when Spider-Woman is.

The answer to that is simple, Jeff.

I'm Spider-Woman.

[LAUGHS]

Sorry I asked.
[CHUCKLES]

I don't think it's so funny.

JESSICA:
Uh-oh.

I'm getting a spider-sense
that's even less funny.

Slippery spider webs.

The Fly is ravaging
that train load of sugar.

Uh. I've been thinking, Jeff.

Those cloned flies that were stolen
from the government research foundation

may have a connection
with the giant fly you spotted.

Why don't you and Billy go there
and check it out with Dr. Reed?

Will do, Jessica.

Uh, we'll meet you for dinner
at Madam Chong's and give you the scoop.

Now to weave a spider change
and catch me a fly.

I hope you plan on brushing
after all that sugar.

Well, well, well.

So now it's the spider
who comes to the fly.

Let's see how a spider reacts
to my fly spray.

You'll have to do better than that, Fly.
[STAGGERS] I'm no ordinary spider...

Oh, no.
The Fly's changed me back to normal.

I'll have to weave another spider change.

Great arachnids. Nothing's happening.

DR. HAGELL: It's no use trying to use your
powers.

You're no longer Spider-Woman.

You're just plain Jessica Drew.

I've finally proven
that I'm smarter than your father.

[HAGELL LAUGHS]

Just who are you?

Don't you remember, little Jessica?

I was your father's assistant
before he fired me.

Of course. Dr. Hagell.

Precisely.

Soon the world will know
that I am the greatest scientist of all.

[BUZZING]

If I don't figure out a way
to get back to my spider abilities,

that flipped-out fly
will threaten the world.

My father's lab is my only chance.

This lab is where I accidentally gained
my spider powers.

And the only clue to what happened
is in my father's journal.

Careful, Jessica. That's a cloned spider
in that tank. It's deadly.

Don't be a worrywart, Daddy.

[GLASS BREAKS]
Jessica!

Oh, no. The spider's bitten her.

There isn't enough time.

I'll have to try
this untested spider serum.

Are you okay, Jessica?

Uh, yeah, I guess so.

Look at me, Daddy.
I can crawl like a spider.

What have I done?

Don't worry about it, Dad.
You created Spider-Woman.

I just hope I can duplicate your mistake.

There. That should do it.

Ugh.

I hope it works better than it tastes.

Now to see how well I've done.

Wondrous web weavers!

I'm back to my spidery self.

I'll just whip up
a little surprise for the Fly.

And be on my way.

Honest, Dr. Reed, you should have seen it.

I mean, that giant fly
must've been as big as you.

Come on, fellows, you don't expect
a scientist to believe a story like that.

There's no way a fly could grow
as big as a man.

[BUZZING]

Look again, Dr. Reed.

[STUTTERS]
It can't be.

But it is.

And now I'll finally pay you back

for convincing the government
to stop my research.

And now it's your turn.

But we didn't do anything to you.

Yeah, we never swat flies. They're cute.

HAGELL: If you two like flies so much,

you won't mind being one.
[CHUCKLES]

Buzz off, Fly.

Spider-Woman.

I'll fix you this time for good.

Get her!

You may be good enough to stop
that fly brain, Spider-Woman,

but you'll never stop me.

The Fly is too fast for me.

I'd better take a spidery shortcut
and head him off.

[CHUCKLING] Looks like I've lost
that stupid Spider-Woman.

No!

[CRASHES]

Get away from me.

Not before I give you a spidery spritz.

[SCREAMS]
No! No! You're ruining everything.

[IN STRAINED VOICE]
I can't remember a thing.

You'll have plenty of time for memories
in the county jail.

JEFF:
You should've been there, Jessica.

Why, I led the Fly
right into Spider-Woman's web.

Without me, she never would've caught him.

Gee! I wish I was there.

Yep. Flies are no problem for me.

Hey, there's a fly in my soup.

I wonder what it's doing in there.

Looks to me
like it's doing the backstroke.

[LAUGHING]
