[Ridley] Art of the Steal.

[laughing]

-[man] There it is.
-Huh?

I want to see! I want to see!

What's going on in there?

Must be good if it's this crowded.

[gasps]

Maybe the History of Candy
exhibit is back!

Or Anatomy of Adorable Puppies! Or…

A blank space on a wall.

Huh?

Grandma, what's with the big crowd?

A famous portrait called
A Lady from Milan

used to hang in that very spot

until the day it vanished
without a trace, that is.

Whoa. So all these people just want
to see where the painting used to be?

Yep. Today is the anniversary
of its disappearance.

The mystery always draws
a lot of visitors.

Ooh. Mystery? Vanishing without a trace?

Tell me everything!

I was your age
when I first saw A Lady from Milan,

and it's been my favorite painting
ever since.

-Paola was one of a kind.
-Paola?

The woman in the portrait,
and an old friend.

Sylvia, Ridley, I think we have
our biggest crowd yet to see that wall!

Paola, I mean,
A Lady from Milan deserves it.

And these posters
are selling like hotcakes.

I had to get more copies made
for the gift shop.

Ah, If only I could find
the real painting, I'd be rich!

See if you can steer the crowd
to the gift shop on their way out.

He'll never find Paola.
Not if I can help it.

Wait. You know where she is?

Of course I do. I'm the one
who hid her all those years ago.

[gasps]

What?

Well, with a little help from my friends.
It was a night I'll never forget.

A greedy art collector wanted
to take Paola from the museum,

but she wanted to stay.

So my museum pals, same as yours,

helped me sneak her out of the exhibit
and into a hiding spot.

[jazzy music plays]

You saved her. Can I meet Paola?

I thought you would never ask.

Huh! My grandma, a master art thief.
Who knew?

I am so stoked for you to meet Paola.
She's, like, the coolest.

Cooler than the dark side of the moon.

How do I look? Gotta be my feathery best
for our favorite painting.

[Paola] Do I have visitors?

It's me, Paola. Ciao! Muah. Ciao!

-Ciao, Paola!
-What's up, Paola!

Sylvi-yucha!

Paol-ucha! I've got someone
who wants to meet you.

Is this the Ridley Jones?

Granddaughter of Dr. Sylvia Jones?

The girl who wields
a compass eye and protects the museum?

Yes. Yes, and, well, yes!

Thrilled and thrilled to meet
another Jones woman.

Did you know your grandma
was the first person

who bothered to ask me my name?

She was?

I was always A Lady from Milan,

or "the most famous portrait
in the history of art."

[yawns]

No one ever asked, "Who is
the woman in that painting?"

Until Sylvi-yucha.

Oh, you looked like someone
who'd be fun to talk to.

And you were right. I'm a hoot.

We have been good friends ever since.

Even though I had to
hide you in the storage room?

Bah! I have made the most
of my confinement.

I've learned three languages,

do yoga every morning to keep
my frame flexible,

took up opera…

[sings operatic run]

And yet, I miss my fans.

I long to see a crowd around me.

What can I say? I'm a people portrait.

There's a big crowd in the museum today,

since it's the anniversary
of your "disappearance."

Think we can sneak Paola out
for just a little bit, Grandma?

Ooh, we could give her a disguise!

I don't know.

[Fred] Ahem.

The princess here should have some ideas
you can at least live with.

It's queen. And yes, I do.

We want to hide you, but with style!

No, not style.

Somehow, someway,
you must blend into the crowd.

I will make you unfashionable.

Good luck with that. How do you
make this anything but fabulous?

Oh! Mm! My mustache tickles.

Hang tight, Paola.
We're almost to the art exhibit.

[Paola] I see them! My fans!

Bring them to me,
or at least get me a little closer.

[girl laughing]

Yum! Ice cream!

Hey, kiddos, careful with that ice cream.

We'll be back in two seconds.
Then you'll finally see your fans.

I hope they hurry.
My mustache is so… so… ticklish!

[sneezes]

Mamma Mia!

[Peabody] Mamma Mia! It can't be!

[gasps]

was here all of this time?

[snickering]

- to sell.
-[cell phone rings]

Mr. Peabody, you'd better
have a good reason for calling me.

I'm not interested
in another wild goose chase.

Who could have predicted those statues
I sold you were just geese painted gold?

Ahem.

Anyway, would you like to own
A Lady from Milan?

Of course I would.
But no one's seen it in decades.

Well, you're seeing it right now.

[cackles]

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!

I can have it wrapped up and ready
for you first thing in the morning.
