underwater animals

Henry's log after months of exploring

the deepest reaches of space our heroic

Captain is heading home in his trusty

ship uh Henry who are you talking to ah

greetings fellow Earthling I the Great

Captain Henry have gone where no lizard

has gone before wow into outer space

that must have been real exciting

actually no no one else had gone there

before either

I didn't meet one strange new life form

so now I'm going home stand by for

re-entry hey what's with all the blue

stuff that's not home uh that would be

the

ocean I must have got my calculations

wrong you never were very good at

math uhoh green alert we're headed for

the

water better make that underwater Henry

you're

sinking

wa batten down the hatches reverse

engines and close that window Don't Run

Away Now Henry you wanted to meet

strange life forms and explore new

worlds underwater is just the

place excuse me on boring old Earth what

could be unexplored here only most of

the Planet 3 quars of it is covered in

water we know more about what's in space

than what's in our own oceans you mean

there might be aliens living down here

yikes or flying saucers with Tails no

those are Rays Henry flying saucers with

Ray g*ns even worse no bat Rays they're

not from outer space but like most

underwater animals they seem alien to us

because they're so different I'll say

there's one familiar

face Gul you can say that

again wao all underwater animals have

adapted to their unique environment with

their own ways of feeding getting around

and breathing well I won't breathe

easier until I find a way home

he

looks like you're having trouble there

Henry I'll never get home if I can't get

this tub under control how are you going

to travel down here traveling underwater

requires a special skill I do have a

license you

know hey it's working set a course for

home

don't you think some underwater driving

lessons would help first nah what do

I no fair you distracted me that doesn't

take much say it's those flying sorcer

Rays again bat Rays Henry though they do

kind of fly that's how they move around

underwater by flapping their wings and

gliding are they related to birds shark

actually but they often travel in groups

like a flock of birds the largest rays

are enormous wide enough to carry three

people laying head to

toe that's amazing look at them all it

often helps underwater animals to travel

in large groups cuz they get a group

discount on meals not exactly but it can

help them avoid becoming a meal it's

it's harder for predators to pick out

individuals from a huge school of fish

school so even fish need driving lessons

huh nope individual fish in a school or

group copy the movements of the others

changing direction in a Flash and by

swimming close behind one another the

water current pulls them along more

easily so they use less Energy Smart

fish of course some underwater animals

don't swim at all or even move don't bet

on it hey you speeded that film up and

those starfish must have little wheels

under there that's cheating starfish

actually have hundreds of little

tentacles under their bodies to pull

them around as they search for prey

looks like a wrestling match for

lunch excuse me what's that spider doing

underwater anyway it's a sea spider to

be precise a distant relative of land

spiders I can see that but what's he

doing the breast stroke who's supposed

to be the funny one around here

I don't know but when you find him tell

him there's still a

vacancy you

Henry Henry it's time for your news

report what now yes now out of my way

tonight birds still sneezing after hay

fever

season and Cheeky Monkey tells press no

comment but now our top story

police stop fish stealing air from the

land after following a trail of red

herrings investigators discovered the

villain

responsible fish finger his plan

included putting all the air in

tanks hiding it

underwater and only letting fish breathe

from

it a case of air today gone tomorrow

police were tipped off when they found

fin prints on a getaway

vehicle but land animals can rest easy

tonight knowing

that fish finger is safely Behind Bars

looks like the scales of Justice Triumph

again you think they bought it you

couldn't even give it away

Henry let's

the truth is all underwater animals need

oxygen to breathe but only a few get it

from Air H I cut that Turtle stealing

air he's just coming up to the surface

for a breath even Turtles can't stay

underwater forever others like this

water scorpion are a little more

inventive that's amazing it's like he's

breathing through a snorkel very good

Henry and that spider has a diving

helmet say two out it

too have you been reading the scripts in

advance there's a first time for

everything then you'll know this spider

takes its own supply of air underwater

with it spinning a silk net to hold a

big bubble in which to breathe oh sure I

knew that I'm no

Airhead neither are fish like most

underwater animals they actually get

their oxygen by breathing water not air

H breathing water

sounds fishy to me no water has oxygen

in it too fish take in water and run it

through their gills where they filter

out the oxygen they need like lungs for

fish exactly some fish like this shark

need water constantly moving through

their gills in order to breathe at all

whoa slug alert nudie branks same to you

can you see where they breathe from

Henry it's hard to with all those spiky

things that is how they breathe nudie

Brank can absorb more oxygen by

breathing through their skin that's

amazing I wonder how you can tell when

they're holding their breath

our dashing hero speeds through his new

Underwater World searching for the way

home he is prepared for

anything his trusty ship is armed with

the latest anti-sea creature weapons

a shark repelling foam

Blaster an octopus ink jet spray and of

course the world's biggest water

cannon nothing will stand in the way of

our invis fizzy Invincible thanks

hello if you want the perfect underwater

fighting machine Henry look no further

than the shark now where did I put my

Shark propelling it wouldn't work sharks

were hunting 200 million years before

the dinosaurs were even around and

they've gotten pretty good at

it which makes you wonder why these guys

are jumping in with them really we know

so little about sharks getting closer is

the only way we can learn

more what's to learn sharks are big

they've got unlimited teeth and they can

smell their prey from up to 10 Mi away

that's true see the only thing i' need

to learn is how to get away from them

faster sharks don't really deserve such

a bad reputation right that's why these

guys are hiding in a cage oh most of the

time sharks are just as scared of you as

you are of them they must be pretty

scared then because I'm

terrified often the Sharks you see on

film have been baited with fish and meat

so they'll attack and look scary for the

camera mostly they live on smaller

prey hey I'm still smaller than that

fish

the octopus also has an amazing range of

weapons up his sleeve which one the left

one the right one the top one smart

guy and he's going to need them octo Guy

versus mad Mor eel the octopus uses

suckers on his tentacles to grip the

rock firm for the fight but the eel

strong jaw is just as

powerful cool he used a smoke screen the

octopus sprays ink to confuse it's

attacker and Escape but it might be too

late no it's a tug of

w*r and oct the guy wins he may have

lost a tentacle but he's not completely

armless ha

sucker get it sucker oh good grief

where are you going Henry this doesn't

look like the way home to me I I'm not

sure it's very deep

here excuse me what is that looks like

you found a

shipwreck I must be hearing things

nothing could be living in there you'd

be surprised Henry hundreds or even

thousands of underwater creatures make

their homes in wrecks and caves

going I think you found crab Tuesday's

home Henry this is where his whole

family

lives yeah cool hey live in a

shipwreck oh what's the matter oh you're

feeling homesick aren't you yeah I miss

my mom and my toys and my pizza I know

Coral Reef

what you mean Henry it might not be your

idea of comfort but coral reefs provide

a natural home for underwater animals

nearly a third of the world's fish live

on them the views not much the roof

leaks Why move here reefs are actually

living structures made of thousands or

millions of tiny Coral animals growing

on top of one another they are rich

source of food hiding places and

breeding grounds so convenient shopping

safe for bringing up kids what are the

schools like get it schools fish did

someone tell a joke or am I Herring

things holy mackerel this doesn't look

like it was made by animals sunken ships

make instant artificial reefs for sea

creatures what once carried people or

cargo now shelters fish seaweed coral

and crab Tuesday's

family it's sad for people that ship

sink but the underwater animals must be

happy to have a new house yeah as long

as it's not filled with

oil now where are we

going hey who turn out the

lights is that a glow-in-the-dark worm

or a map of the Milky Way we're at the

very bottom of the ocean Henry but

surely nothing can live down here

there's no light you were saying

what is that those lights are another

amazing underwater animal but how do

they light up like that there's no

electricity in the sea it's called

bioluminescence which means that animals

create their own light to see with

monsters nope just another of the

strange creatures that live in the

depths one of the few I guess I mean who

could live in all this cold and dark no

one knows for sure the Deep floor of the

ocean is the largest living space face

on the planet what lives there is

largely a mystery maybe animals even

Stranger Than This the gernard cool a

walking fish those aren't really legs

Henry they're feelers with taste buds on

the end that it uses to find food in the

darkness that's amazing my mom always

tells me to use a knife and fork

Golden Gecko

and Now ladies and gentle lizards it's

time for Henry's amazing golden gecko

Awards the winners of my all-time best

amazing underwater animal

are in third place is the shark the most

amazing scary underwater animal and one

of the oldest

too in second place is the water

scorpion which isn't a scorpion at all

but a bug that that breathes through a

tail like a snorkel but the winner of my

golden geckle award is the

Golden Squid

squid these amazing underwater animals

are among the fastest in the sea they

Zoom around by sucking in water and

blowing it out again like a jet engine

does with air and like what you do with

pizza they also live in amazing numbers

hunting eating and raising their

families in massive shs

the most amazing thing is the squid moms

and dads they put everything they've got

into having kids and I mean

[Music]

everything the female squid laid

thousands of eggs in a kind of communal

nursy

then having used up all their energy

making sure their kids are all right the

squid die they do but who looks after

the eggs they grow up all on their own

oh they're orphans who will protect them

from Hungry Fish it's okay their parents

can still help

them with so many dead adults for

predators to feed on the baby squid will

be left alone

because squid parents do such a great

job giving their baby jet engines a

start in life they win my golden gecko

award for the most amazing underwater

animal I name this country Henry land

and hereby claim it for lizards

everywhere

what are you doing Henry I'm founding a

new Colony right here in the ocean A

Home of the Brave Land of the Free land

of the completely inhabited what do you

mean I thought you said the ocean was

barely explored by humans sure but other

land animals have been in the ocean for

millions of years what you mean I don't

get to be king or president or anything

I'm afraid not Henry so where are these

land animals anyway huh

oh are you okay where did they come from

Sea Lions

sea lions are descended from land

animals and are actually related to

bears but millions of years ago their

diet of fish meant they spent more and

more time in the water slowly they

adapted to marine life and their bodies

changed becoming more streamlined sea

lions can now swim at speeds of up to 40

m an hour wow I guess their kids don't

have to go to swimming lessons then huh

they do in fact no way way newborn seals

and sea lions can't swim so their

mothers have to give birth on land and

teach

them and catch a few Rays by the looks

of

it sea lions aren't the warm-blooded

mammals best adapted to life underwater

though that honor belongs to whales and

dolphins

but those are fish not mammals no Henry

they are mammals just like sea lions

they're descended from land animals but

the bodies of whales and dolphins have

completely adapted to life in the

oceans their for liims turned into

flippers and their nostrils their

nostrils started on the front of their

face and moved to the top of their head

must make it hard to blow their noses

but easier to breathe they can keep

their body IES underwater and just poke

their blow hole above the surface all

these land animals at least I'm the

first lizard to colonize the ocean hey

sorry Henry you were beaten by these

guys marine iguanas the only lizards

truly at home in the sea yeah well I'm

the one with the cool

submarine marine iguanas don't need one

they can hold their breath for up to 20

minutes by reducing their heart rate

this allows allows them to feed

underwater where they live almost

entirely on seaweed

seaweed y if that's what it takes to

live in the oceans I'm glad I'm a land

lizard his long journey ended our

amazing hero returns home triumphant I'm

impressed Henry you overcame alien sea

creatures deadly water currents

mysterious shipwrecks and now you're

home at last uh oh yeah it was

nothing uh Henry yeah do you mean huh

don't tell me what you're amazing H

thanks but I'd rather leave the oceans

to those real amazing underwater animals
