[upbeat music playing]

Hi.

[Polly] Hi, love.

-Hello.
-[Polly] Ooh, I love the green.

[Kayla] Thank you.

How's your morning?

[sighs]

-It's just a lot.
-Oh, really?

-Good or bad a lot?
-Good a lot.

-Good.
-Good a lot. Yeah, I'm...

Just a lot...
I'm dealing with a lot. [chuckles]

Is that the new...?

The listing on Summit Drive, yeah.

But that's a nice one to get, 4.5.

It's a big one.

-[waitress] Good afternoon. How are you?
-How are you?

I'm gonna go for a fresh mint tea...

-[waitress] Wonderful.
-...and the quesadilla.

[waitress] Yum.

I'm gonna do a rosé

and then I'm going to go ahead
and do your burrata salad.

[Polly] I have to be sharp tonight.

Okay. What are you saying?
"B-Shop"? "Bishop"?

-What do you mean?
-"Be shop," what does that mean?

I have to be sharp.

-I have to be sharp.
-Oh, sharp. Sorry.

This happens all the time.
No one knows what I'm saying.

-I have to be...
-Sharp, got it.

-...on it. I have to be on it.
-Okay. For sure.

I mean, a little rosé won't hurt, but...

No, because I have one rosé and I'm like,
"This is nice. Let's get another."

-Let's get another and... Yeah. [laughs]
-"Let's get a bottle."

I'm still so new that I want to,
like, be, you know...

Yeah, of course.

-It's great. You sound like you, you know...
-[sighs]

-Yeah. Well...
-...you've been working and learning.

Still learning, and I know that.
I'm still a student.

My ego is not huge. I don't think
I'm going to get every single listing.

Know what I mean?

-That's why when this opportunity came...
-All right, ladies.

-So excited for this.
-Thank you.

[waitress] Let me know
if I can get you anything else.

-I appreciate it.
-Thank you.

Getting this listing,
it means everything to me,

because it's a little bit more pressure.

I mean, I was an assistant for a top agent

-at my last brokerage.
-Right.

Basically, when I told him
I was leaving, he told me the words,

"You're barely making it here.
What makes you think you'd make it there?"

And so if it doesn't feel like
I'm growing in my career,

it's like, he was right.

-You can do it.
-I know I can do it.

But, like, you just never know.
Because, you know,

newer agents come into the industry
and they think, "I got this,"

and then they end up failing
within the first year of their career.

Yeah, but don't doubt yourself.

-Well, I...
-You can do it.

-[sighs]
-You're good.

It's not just that, but it's like,

I feel like I'm always on.

I don't have breaks. Ever.

-Same with me. I'm working like that.
-Mm-hmm.

Polly, I don't have anyone.

You know? I come home,

and I'm with my son,
and it's just me and him.

-I work all the time.
-You're preaching to the choir.

I'm alone. Alone-alone.

Why do you think
I'm out socializing all the time

with different groups of friends?
You want to talk about being alone?

-Yeah.
-I'm alone, so...

[laughs nervously]

For Polly to compare her situation...

I mean, I'm sorry,
you can't compare working day and night,

and then my son with school and sports,
and juggling everything...

[Kayla] Our situations are so different.

She doesn't get it.
She doesn't understand.

I know it's overwhelming,
but try and get out of your head more.

[sighs deeply]

[Polly] I am trying to be
a supportive friend to Kayla,

who's obviously overwhelmed
with her life right now,

but I'm also a brand-new agent and,

and she's got a $4.5 million listing.

Like, that's her problem.

That's a situation I would love to be in.

Look at this.

[waitress] Don't worry, ladies.

Thank you so much.

[Polly] But yet she continues
to see the negative in it.

It's, like, really not that bad.

And this is why I had
to order another glass of wine.

[upbeat music playing]

-Hey. You look beautiful.
-Hi. Thank you.

[Jarvis] Great spot for lunch.

-[Rose] I know. Great day, sunny.
-Thanks for picking it.

-The sun came out for us.
-Mm-hmm.

Thank you.

-[waiter] Of course.
-Thank you.

-[waiter] This is for the ladies.
-I love water.

I was a water sommelier
in another life. Thank you.

Thank you.

[mischievous music playing]

I actually have a water machine at home

that is alkaline,
oxygenated, and micro-clustered.

I'm not even sure what that means.
It apparently keeps the molecules small.

-Yeah.
-So you don't bloat when you drink water.

How much does one of those cost?

-I think around six grand.
-sh**t. Interesting.

People splurge six grand on a handbag.

Why can't I splurge six grand
on a water machine?

And you save money on water bottles.
It's an investment.

Beautiful.

-[waiter] Here we are.
-Well, thank you so much.

It's like a work of art.

I haven't talked to you
about what happened at the beach.

I need to hear everything.

I wish you were there.
I mean, it was kind of uncomfortable.

-Brandi and I were talking about you.
-Brandi and you?

When your name was said, Polly goes,

"I hate Jarvis. I hate her."

-And I was like...
-[chuckles] Good impersonation.

"I hate her." Like...

I'm sorry,
but to hate somebody takes, like...

-That's Polly.
-You don't just hate somebody.

No, I've never been
anything but nice to her.

-You've never done anything.
-I've complimented her

-on some of her outfits, not all of them.
-[both chuckle]

Um, but it's sad and that's
really not my problem, it's hers.

I'm focused on
my multi-million dollar listings.

I'm not worried about
if someone doesn't like me,

or if they even hate me.

I've got my own life going on.

Some people don't have good taste.

[Rose] Oh, my God, so get this.

I, like, am shocked.

I saw Alex Hall, get, like,
really upset with Gio and, like...

I'm going to be honest,
she was really drunk.

Sloppy, like... tripping,
slurring her words.

It made me uncomfortable.
Alex Hall's pissed at Gio for some reason.

I really like Gio.

-I do too.
-I felt like he was being bullied.

He's on our level,
I think that's why we get along.

I think it's kind of a trend.

Like, they're kind of bullying Gio
in a sense like they're bullying us,

and talking about us
because we're all on the same level.

They're swimming in the kiddie pool,
and we're taking laps in the ocean.

[pop music playing]

-Oh, man. [laughs]
-Do you want to hold onto the rail?

[Alex] Hold onto the railing.

[Kayla] What do you think?

It's a beautiful view.

It is a great view.

[Alex] Okay, that's great.

Okay. So five bedrooms.

It'll be a family who buys the house.

We gotta get staging on point
if we try to sell this for 4.5 million.

-You think so? Okay.
-Oh, yeah.

It's really exciting to have Alex Hall
here with me, listen to her,

how she speaks, questions that she asks.

So I'm sitting here like a sponge,
just soaking everything in.

This is Kayla.

-Hi. Kayla. Very nice to meet you.
-I'm Avery.

So come on in.

[Alex] So this is the house.

The selling point is the water, the views.

I think Kayla agrees, there are pieces
that we can all agree on that need to go.

What would you do with the couch?
As you know, this is a little eye sore.

My opinion is we work around it.

Okay, I'm a solutions person,
I think we put white pillows on it.

What about this table?
It's taking up a lot of space.

-It's huge.
-It's a big room, though.

But the bigger it feels,
the better with smaller furniture.

-Honestly, I'm not too concerned.
-[clicks tongue]

[Kayla] Let's look
at the living room area with the kitchen.

[Alex] I want this to look
like a family lives here.

I want a couch, a rug,
maybe something in that corner.

Coastal modern for the room.

Coastal modern, but comfy for family.

We could repurpose some of the homeowner's
furniture and utilize the wood benches.

Put pillows on it, make it feel cozy.

[Alex] Bar stools, I don't like these.

[Kayla]
Obviously, we'd need to declutter there...

-That out.
-...take everything out, put dishes...

Put dishes.
I'm thinking even black dishes.

What do you think about black?

Black will add contrast.

Then maybe leave some of these glasses?

No, they're really bad.

[Alex] Then there's
this furniture out here.

I think that having an outdoor
dining set area would be really nice.

I... I don't know.

Like a mini high-top dining table.

[Avery] We have to see
what inventory we have for outdoor.

We're not doing a high-top table.

-Don't wanna block the view.
-Don't want to.

Just something you can
sit around and dine.

Yeah, let's make...
I want to think about it.

Yeah. Definitely need to add some plants.

Or even some string lighting
or something like that, something pretty.

Not from the top,
but maybe just around the deck area.

And a plant, maybe up on this spot.
Not over here.

That's what I just said.

They're good at all that.

-Then this.
-Sounds good.

-Can that go? You're awesome.
-Yeah.

-Thank you.
-[Avery] No problem.

-Have a good one.
-Yeah, you too.

-Nice meeting you, Kayla.
-Nice meeting you.

-Bye.
-Bye.

-This is what's going to sell this house.
-Yeah.

We do need to emphasize
the five bedrooms, total family vibes.

I ran the stats

and I think there's something
like seven properties with five bedrooms

in all of Laguna Beach
under seven million.

So the fact that
we are gonna be at 4.5 million,

we have to market it to that demographic.

-Yeah.
-Multiple children,

somebody that needs five bedrooms.

I have an eye for design and style.
My background is interior design.

I've sold so many houses like this,
I could do it in my sleep.

Shouldn't be a problem.

This is, you know,

really important for me because
not only is it my first listing,

but, you know,

it's to prove to Jason
that I wa... I deserve to be here.

I haven't told you this, or anyone yet,

but I bartend and I work
on weekends and nights still.

-Yeah.
-You're bartending at night?

-Yeah.
-How long have you been doing that?

Now it's going on 10 years,
but I've always had two or three jobs.

Gosh, yeah.

I'd rather be in bed,
watching a movie with my son,

instead of having to
work all day, get home,

eat really quick, change, "Bye, babe."

You know? Then be back at 4:00
in the morning. I'm tired of it.

[Alex] I cannot believe that Kayla
has been working two jobs.

It's a lot, and I think
in this career, with real estate,

you have to really focus,

or else you're never gonna get to the top.

She should take the chance,
quit the job, focus on real estate.

I relate. I'm a single mom too,
and I've got...

I've got to put food on the table as well.

I think we make it look easy as moms,
and we're prideful,

but it's not easy.

I know. And it was funny because
I just had lunch with Polly yesterday,

and she's like, "What's going on?"
And there was just a lot happening.

So when I was trying
to just explain to her,

she was like,
"You're fine. It'll be okay."

"I've been in your situation
having multiple jobs."

I'm sorry. You've been in my situation?

I'm thinking in the back of my mind,
"You don't get it."

-Yeah.
-You know? Like, you have no clue.

I think it's all relative to her...

Like, that's what she knows,
and so it's like,

"I appreciate you,
but you don't understand."

-Right. Yeah.
-People aren't gonna get it.

Yeah. I don't talk to anyone either,
about it, most of the time, so it's just...

Don't cry.

[tender music playing]

-Don't cry.
-I had a... [voice breaking]

It's fine.

Just the past couple days I feel like
everything has been hitting me at once,

and the problem is that
I don't feel like I'm doing enough.

I'm never satisfied
with what everything I do.

I could be a better mother,
better agent, I could be... You know?

Right. You're not alone in that.
For me, it's guilt.

We got to try to figure it out,

put our big girl panties on
and just do the best we can.

Or else you won't succeed.

You have to be able to handle
what this business is gonna throw at you,

because it'll only get harder.

-Yeah.
-We got the listing.

We'll market the sh*t out of it, sell it,
and each walk with a $50,000 check.

I'll walk into the bar with you,
and we're gonna order a sh*t,

-and you're gonna quit.
-[laughs]

-Bye, b*tches. [laughs]
-Yeah.

-What do you think? Yeah?
-Sounds good.

-Don't worry. I got you.
-Thank you.

-[Lisa laughs]

She had, like, a panic att*ck
when it touched her feet.

We moved down to the OC
after Jason ended up hiring me.

It's amazing. I like to take my kids
to the beach, have fun with the family.

It's my absolute dream
to own a house near the water.

It's a big goal, but I think
I'm in the right office to make it happen.

She dipped her Cheeto
in the sand and ate it.

A bit of extra crunch.

Maybe we can talk to the grandparents
and schedule with them one day a month,

they come down, we can go have date night.

Also, when you're going out
to work things, you can bring me.

Bring you along?

Like your birthday club outing,
and for beach day.

I understand.
It was an office thing though, you know?

And also we have to coordinate.

Everything is always last minute,
and we have to get a babysitter and...

But I do agree.

I wanted you there.

No one brought
any of their significant others.

You know? It was just us.

I don't think anyone would care
if I was there.

I know. But it's just office things.

No, it's just you...

Don't throw sand, please.

...go out for your birthday.

We didn't do much for your birthday
because everything's been busy,

and then you go out
to the beach all fricking day,

uh, without me, you know?

Understandable.

I'm in bed at 4:00 a.m., calling you
over and over to get the f*ck home.

I did not get home at 4:00 a.m.

I did not.

Okay, 3:00 a.m.?

I don't remember. [chuckles]

I think sometimes, you know, I just
get excited and have a few too many.

You do the same thing, though.
Whenever you've been bottled up for a bit

and you need to let loose
and kind of reset, you...

go a little hard sometimes too.

This is true. If I go out,
I'm the last one standing.

-Like you. It's why we're together.
-I don't get upset.

I feel a lot of pressure working at
this new office, making a name for myself.

I get it, totally get it.

I wanna put in the hours,
become part of the team,

and prove myself,

and that takes time,
and you have to grind at the beginning,

and then once I make a name for myself,

it becomes a lot easier.

I want you to be super successful,
to be friends with everybody,

I just want us to be equal.

I just want to feel equal
and not feel like the...

nanny.

Feeling like I'm literally
stuck in my house, like I cannot leave.

[bittersweet music playing]

Once I start getting
on a groove down here,

I think our quality of life
is just going to go up exponentially.

["Upside of Down" by SVRCINA playing]

and as long as we can communicate...

Don't have doubt.

Confidence. [kisses]

Give me a kiss.

[indistinct]

-Do you want some of this? Sure?
-No.

[both chuckling]

Where do I see myself in five years?

Owning the house of my dreams,
having my kids go to a private school,

having a nanny so that
my wife and I can have a good time.

I want to provide for my family,
take care of them.

I just want to make them proud.

Family's everything, for sure.

Yeah, that makes me emotional. Heh.

we've been friends for, like, two years?

We're going to Tulum next week.

-Next week.
-Together.

-That's gonna be a fun time.
-Yeah.

Vince and I go way back.
I first met him when I met his girlfriend.

And we've known each other
for a couple years.

I've been at their house many times.

They throw lots
of amazing parties at the house.

The house just glows at night.

It's one of the sexiest houses

We know you guys are kind
of apprehensive about listing the home,

but at the same time I'm like,
it's the energy...

If we're going to keep doing,
"I'm so overwhelmed, I'm going to cry,"

that brings me down way too quick.
I can't be around negative energy.

Yeah, I'm not doing it.

She's got, like, a lot to figure out.

Now, I do have a listing with her,
and I don't know her well enough.

To know how she works, yeah.

That makes me so nervous,
dealing with somebody like that.

How long is this escrow?

-You're not in escrow. sh*t.
-No, we're not even in escrow.

[Jason] Let's go to Javier's for drinks.

Wrap it up, girls.

Let's get drunk...er.

Yeah, I don't know.

This is my name now.

-Yeah.
-My name on the f*cking sign.
