[slow haunting music]
NARRATOR:The great estate of Collinwood,
as it exists in parallel time.
And two men are in greater danger
than they have ever been before.
Quentin Collins' wife has returned from the dead,
and taken the identity of the twin sister she m*rder*d.
And Barnabas Collins lies in this coffin,
a prisoner of William H. Loomis, his voice stilled.
Were he able, Barnabas could explain a mystery
that Quentin has just discovered
and cannot understand.
DANIEL:Maybe if we stand here for a while,
something will happen.
AMY: I don't want--
I thought I told you to stay.
I heard Dr. Hoffman tell my father
that Barnabas got called here.
Daniel, What are you talking about?
I don't wanna get caught here.
Do you understand that?
So I'm leaving.
DANIEL: Amy, wait a minute.
Amy, Daniel?
Wait.
Maybe something will happen, anything.
AMY: But I don't want anything to happen.
I don't even wanna be here, I'm supposed to be in bed.
Amy, can't you hear me?
AMY: Of course I can hear you, what is it?
Amy, Daniel.
What is it?
We heard you calling us, something wrong?
[dramatic music]
[slow haunting music]
Father, what's wrong?
Nothing.
AMY: Something is.
No, nothing, nothing at all.
What are you two doing here?
He wanted to see Alexis.
Where'd you come from, Daniel?
DANIEL: My room.
Are you sure?
What is it?
It's just my imagination.
Now, why don't you two go somewhere else and play?
I want to see Alexis.
Now, Daniel.
Please, shes resting, now, go.
DANIEL: All right.
Oh, Amy?
Uh, when you were at the Loomis house,
did Will ever talk to you about a Barnabas Collins?
Barnabas Collins, who's he?
QUENTIN: Just someone who lived a very long time ago.
Did he, Amy?
No, he never spoke about him,
he just wrote those pages that I showed you.
DANIEL: Why?
No reason.
DANIEL: There's gotta be some reason.
Daniel, please.
Now, just do as I told you.
Come on, Amy.
[slow suspenseful music]
QUENTIN VOICEOVER: I don't understand.
Why was the room different?
How can it be?
They were in that room, yet they were walking down the hall.
ALEXIS: Quentin.
But, what is it?
Nothing's changed.
What do you mean?
Well, you look as if I've completely
rearranged the furniture.
A moment ago, I opened that door,
this room was empty.
ALEXIS: What?
Daniel and Amy were standing right there.
They were wearing clothes I'd never seen before.
They were talking about Barnabas Collins.
And then, then, I heard them again.
Only this time, I saw them in the hall.
Now, I swear to you, I'm not hallucinating!
Quentin [laughs], my dear, I was here all the time.
Well, you must admit the strain you've been under.
I don't like to admit that I'm the kind of man
that strain could affect.
At least not that much.
So many strange things have been happening around here.
Yes, I know.
Well, I thought that, once Angelique was
in her final resting place, all of this would stop.
Well, you can't blame your hallucinations on Angelique.
No, but at least we're rid of the ghost of Damion Edwards.
[suspenseful music]
Damion?
QUENTIN: Yes, you sound as if you've forgotten.
No, no, of course I haven't.
But perhaps, Bruno was right.
Perhaps, it was Angelique's spirit that made him appear.
It's very fashionable these days
to blame my sister for everything.
And everybody seems to ignore the fact
that she was m*rder*d.
QUENTIN: Alexis.
ALEXIS: Have you done anything
to find her m*rder*r, Quentin?
QUENTIN: I don't believe she was m*rder*d.
Oh, then, you're a fool.
You can believe that rooms can change,
but you can ignore a simple fact.
QUENTIN: It wasn't a fact.
A very disturbed woman said it at a seance.
Oh, well, I believe her and so should you.
Unless for some reason you don't want
the truth discovered [shivers].
[slow eerie music]
What's wrong?
Nothing, I'm just chilly, that's all, it's chilly in here.
QUENTIN: No, it's not.
Quentin, would you leave me alone?
Alexis, are you sure you're all right?
Yes, I'm just cold, that's all.
Very well, I'm going downstairs.
Why don't you come down after a while
and have a brandy with me?
All right.
And Alexis, if Angelique were m*rder*d,
I would be as anxious as you are to find the m*rder*r.
[door thuds]
Cold, why am I so cold [teeth chattering], why?
When I was staying with Cousin Carolyn
I used to play up here all the time.
Don't you like it?
No.
Daniel.
I don't.
All this garbage.
Going through trunks, that's for girls.
You can find all sorts of things, honest.
Letters and dolls, all very old.
This house was built long before Collinwood, you know?
Do you ever play in the basement?
AMY: No.
Why not?
It was always locked.
DANIEL: It never used to be.
Well, Cousin Will is the only one who has the key.
I heard Carolyn asking him for it,
but he wouldn't give to her.
I think Uncle Will is crazy.
AMY: Daniel!
I do.
You know, there's a secret passage
that goes into the basement.
You can get into it from the beach.
It's a pretty neat place to play.
I went there yesterday, but it was all blocked up.
Hey, why don't we go now?
Maybe with the both of us--
AMY: Not at night.
You're such a scary-cat.
I'm not gonna play here.
AMY: There's a sword over there.
A real one, honest.
I saw it the last time I was playing here.
Where?
Lying on the floor, back of all those pictures.
Is it a fencing foil or a saber?
I don't know, I only saw the handle of it.
Besides, I don't like swords.
[thumping]
Do you hear that noise?
AMY: What?
It sounds like a heart beating.
You're just trying to scare me.
No, sounds like it's coming from this picture.
AMY: You're making it all up.
No, I'm not, come here and listen.
Don't be afraid, just listen.
[heart thumping]
Look, it says, Barnabas Collins.
He's the one your father was asking about [screams].
[dramatic music] Amy, Amy?
Amy, Amy, are you alright?
[Amy moans]
What happened, tell me.
Chains, trapped.
Chains, trapped.
Amy?
Amy!
What's going on in here?
DANIEL: Fred, something's happened to Amy.
Well, you kids aren't supposed to be down here, oh no!
AMY: Trapped, chains.
FRED: What did you do to her?
Nothing, she just looked at this picture and fainted.
We've gotta get her to Collinwood.
[slow dramatic music]
Daniel, you weren't trying
to frighten her again, were you?
No, I swear.
Didn't the doctor say anything?
She didn't say anything except, "trapped" and "chained."
All the way, she just kept moaning
and saying those two words over and over.
Well, I thank you, Fred, for bringing her here.
Well, with Mr. and Mrs. Loomis out,
I just didn't know what else to do.
You were quite right, thank you.
Well, guess I better get going.
Mrs. Loomis asked me to get the attic
all cleared up tonight.
Goodnight.
Why did she faint?
I don't know, Daniel.
There's gotta be some reason.
Yes, there does, but what is it?
[slow dramatic music]
ALEXIS: Good evening, Fred.
Oh, you haven't been down
in The Old House lately, Miss Alexis.
I miss seeing you there.
Oh?
Fred?
Hey, what's wrong?
I don't know,
I just feel so cold [teeth chattering].
I know what to do about that.
Do you?
Sure.
[Alexis sighs]
FRED: There, feel any better now?
Yes,
yes, I do.
I've been wanting to hold you like this
ever since I saw you.
Listen, you come with me, huh?
Better, you meet me later.
I got some things I gotta finish.
Look at me.
Oh, I feel so warm in your arms.
Kiss me.
[doorknob clicks]
Are you still here, Fred?
Just leaving, Mr. Collins.
[slow mysterious music]
[Hannah laughing]
[knocking on door]
[door thuds]
Well, what an honor.
I didn't think you remembered were I lived.
Oh, yes, Aunt Hannah, I remember.
I remember very well.
Hmm, your sister used to like to come here.
She could do things here she couldn't do at the big house.
But she never came here because she wanted something.
Is that why you think I'm here?
Yes.
Well, you're so right, of course.
Read my fortune.
[slow dramatic music]
All of a sudden, you sound just like her.
[slow dramatic music]
When you came back, I didn't even want to see you at first.
I didn't want to start missing her again.
Not that I ever stopped.
So, you want your fortune told.
I want that very much.
I thought you didn't believe in all these things.
Well, perhaps I'm changing.
I only tell what I see in the cards, Alexis.
That isn't always good.
I want very much to know what you see.
[slow ominous music]
The Tower of Destruction.
Ah, and the moon inverted.
[Hannah gasps]
What does that combination mean, Aunt Hannah?
Well, finish it.
No, no!
Well, you must tell me what it means.
No, go, just go, now!
ALEXIS: You told me that you would tell me!
You have no future.
Will you read my palms, Aunt Hannah?
HANNAH: I don't want to see it there.
Read my palm, read it.
Then, will you go?
Yes,
if you still want me to.
You're not Alexis.
You are Angelique!
[dramatic music]
ANGELIQUE: You knew I would come back?
No, no.
ANGELIQUE: Don't you even want to know how I did it?
No, I don't want to know [sighs].
Oh, Hannah, it was you who first introduced me
to the occult.
And I was an apt student, huh?
I don't have the power.
I never have known anyone who had the power--
To come back?
Hannah, we were such good friends once, we must be again.
I want to ask you something first.
Where is Julia Hoffman?
I've been afraid to ask at the house,
I've been afraid I would give myself away.
I hear that Quentin decided
it was time she had a vacation.
I must get her back as soon as possible.
And another thing, much more important.
Why is the ghost of Damion Edwards here?
He cannot rest.
Have you seen him?
I have heard.
Who has he threatened?
The children, Quentin, Bruno.
Trask?
You know, you know why.
Oh, cold [teeth chattering].
So cold in here.
You, you must help me.
No, no, please don't ask me.
Yes you must, Hannah.
Or else you will feel the same cold that I feel.
The same cold that one feels in the tomb.
You don't want that, do you?
Why did you come back?
Why?
Why, Hannah?
Well, you should know, Hannah, because of love [laughs].
Because I could not bear not to have Quentin's love.
I had to have it, his love.
The one man I couldn't,
who could always make me want more and more of his love.
You're going to k*ll him.
No, Quentin will want to die.
HANNAH: Never.
You wait and see.
Quentin will want to die when he has found out
that I have discovered who m*rder*d me.
HANNAH: m*rder*d?
Didn't you know?
In the darkness, a hand,
here,
pressed a long, sharp pin.
I felt a sudden pain, and then,
ah, cold [teeth chattering].
I'm beginning to feel the cold again.
HANNAH: Tell me about the m*rder.
No, no I must leave now.
I feel the cold, drawing me back,
back into the tomb.
I haven't much time left.
Unless,
I want you to go to the Loomis house.
Now, what good will that do?
There's a man that works there, you must bring him to me.
Angelique.
I must feel warmth or I will die again.
And then, I will haunt you
for the rest of your life.
[Hannah whimpers]
I swear it.
[slow dreary music]
QUENTIN: You feeling better?
Yes.
QUENTIN: Now, do you think, uh, you can talk
about what happened tonight?
I don't know what did.
QUENTIN: Now, Amy, in order for me
to understand what happened,
you're going to have to try and tell me
what you thought you saw when you looked at the painting.
I saw his eyes.
He needs help.
QUENTIN: Why do you say that?
I don't know.
Barnabas Collins died over years ago.
I know.
I know!
[slow suspenseful music]
I'll be upstairs if you want me.
I was coming back to Collinwood.
ANGELIQUE: No, no, this is better here [teeth chatters].
You're cold.
Yes.
Yes [sighs].
I feel so much warmer in your arms.
Look at me.
Oh, you're so beautiful.
Ever since I first saw you.
You've known you would hold me like this.
I sure hoped so.
No, don't turn your face away, look at me.
What's happening to me?
I feel so cold.
Look at me!
This is the way it will be now.
You will feel cold.
But you must not struggle to look away.
You can't now, Fred, you can't.
Kiss me.
Kiss me.
[Angelique moans]
[mid-tempo dramatic music]
Hannah, Hannah?
I'm all right now.
I'm all right.
He's so cold.
Yes.
Yes, and I am warm again.
He's dead, it's as if he's been dead for hours.
That's the way it must be now.
This is the way I will live now.
And when Quentin comes to join me,
he will live this way, too.
For eternity.
