VOICEOVER:A strange and disquieting night

on the great estate of Collinwood,

for Julia's injections have failed to cure Barnabas

and free him from his curse.

Instead, he feels the need for blood more strongly

than ever before.

And fight it though he does,

the lust is too strong for him,

as one woman seeking his help found out.

CHRIS: Sabrina, you had me worried.

I went for a walk.

Why?

I wanted to think.

CHRIS: What's the use of thinking about us?

I went.

Sabrina.

Oh, my God.

[mysterious whistling music]

Sabrina.

Sabrina, those marks, what happened?

[moaning]

Tell me!

I'll get a doctor.

No.

Sabrina?

Call Julia Hoffman.

I will, I'll call her.

Tell me first what happened.

Call Julia.

She would know what to do.

QUENTIN:Hello?

This is Chris Jennings.

Is Dr. Hoffman there?

No, she's not, Chris.

She went to town a few minutes ago.

CHRIS:You know where to reach her?

No, I'm sorry, I don't.

Something wrong?

Something's happened to Sabrina.

QUENTIN:I'll be right down.

Sabrina.

You must tell me what happened.

You must.

Will I ever be able to wipe this night from my mind?

Sabrina.

I must control myself.

I must.

I will not leave this house tonight.

I will not leave it until this insane urge ends.

No, no, don't light it.

Please don't.

Don't make see him.

See what?

Keeps growing and growing.

What are you talking about?

The shadow!

Look on the wall!

BARNABAS: Oh, my God.

It will k*ll me, just like she said it would.

Who said it would k*ll you?

She cut this paper pattern and put it on my heart.

Who did this to you?

She.

Carolyn said to come to you.

She doesn't know what I've done to you.

Angelique did it.

You gotta help me, Barnabas, you've got to.

NICHOLAS: How charming you look, Angelique.

Black suits you well.

It seemed only appropriate.

You are in mourning, aren't you?

For Bruno?

ANGELIQUE: And Megan, and Philip, and all the others.

Well, I might have known I could count on you

for condolences.

Isn't your master going to be a bit disappointed

when he hears that your plan has collapsed?

Well, as long as I have one follower,

my plan is not totally collapsed, and I still have one.

Completely loyal.

Your husband.

And you must remember, Angelique,

I am always at my best when pressed.

I'll be fascinated to see what you come up with.

Naturally, I've had to do a lot of thinking.

Regrouping my plans, deciding what I'm going to do first.

Oh, and I have never even thanked you for your help.

My help?

Why, yes, it was quite unexpected,

but it was most welcome.

I must admit that I had a certain fondness for Jeb,

but obviously I had to get rid of him.

I must say the shadow was a stroke of genius.

I wish I had thought of it myself.

It is most helpful.

Is it indeed?

You always did know just the perfect revenge.

Even as far back as Barnabas Collins.

You don't mind my mentioning him?

ANGELIQUE: Why should I?

Women always follow a certain pattern.

You established yours with Barnabas.

If women follow patterns, so do men.

Even so do you.

Aren't you about to be recommitted to the underworld

until you think of some new monstrous scheme

to amuse your master?

Well, this time at least you will not be able

to go and tell him that I have failed.

You have become human.

You are not in good standing yourself, you know.

Nothing has changed.

I have all my powers back and I'm using them well.

The shadow should prove that.

Yes, you're right back where you were years ago.

Loving Barnabas Collins.

Nothing ever changes for you, does it, Angelique?

Oh, well, I see I've touched you.

I can see that old familiar hatred in your eyes.

Well, I certainly appreciate your condolences, my dear,

but I'm not finished yet.

So save your tears for those who need them far more than I.

I don't know what happened.

She was attacked.

In the woods, I think.

She's so weak.

There are marks on her neck.

You know what that means, don't you?

You know what's happened to her.

How?

How would I know what has done this?

I don't know, Quentin,

but when I mentioned the marks, you changed.

You acted as though you knew what it meant.

Now, you're upset, Chris, and I don't blame you,

but don't start imagining that I'm trying to keep

something from you.

Now, did Sabrina tell you anything?

No.

Alright, you stay here with her

and keep trying to reach Julia.

I've got to get back to Collinwood

and warn the women not to go out tonight.

I haven't even called the police.

I'll take care of that too.

You stay here with her until she wakes up.

Perhaps she'll feel better then.

I'll be back later.

And don't worry.

As long you're here with her,

whatever happened won't happen again.

I know I don't have much time left, Barnabas,

but believe me, I love Carolyn and she loves me.

I mean, if it wasn't for this shadow we.

Look, Barnabas, please go to Angelique.

Please.

Angelique does not give favors.

Well, this time she's got to.

Barnabas, I mean, if you just go to her, I know she--

QUENTIN: Barnabas.

Hello, Quentin.

Obviously, you know each other.

Slightly, yes.

I've got to talk with you.

Jeb, will you excuse us?

I'll see Angelique tonight.

Now, go back to Collinwood, I'll see you there.

Oh, thank you, Barnabas.

Thank you.

Now, that's a pleasant new friend you've got there.

Angelique has put a curse on him.

Oh, well, good.

He's going to die.

And he dares come here after what he's done?

Barnabas?

I've just seen Sabrina.

You think I wanted to do that?

Now, you're Chris' friend.

One moment you're helping, the next minute you're--

Quentin, please.

Now, don't make me hate myself any more than I do.

I don't care how you feel now.

Now, you've placed that girl under your spell.

She came here.

I couldn't stop myself.

You can't go near her again.

I never want to.

You've got to control yourself!

Control myself?

Now, I want your promise to me.

BARNABAS: Yesterday, I might have promised you.

Then you do it now.

Quentin, the injections.

Julia's injections have failed.

I'm worse than I ever was before.

If I had a g*n with silver b*ll*ts,

I would give them to you and force you to use them on me.

QUENTIN: Now, Julia must be able to do something.

No.

Barnabas, you can't just k*ll Sabrina.

BARNABAS: No.

Hey.

I'm sorry, I.

Now, you know, I understand what it's like

to be under the power of some force.

I don't think I'll ever forget dreading those nights,

knowing that the moon was about to be full.

Will you forgive me?

No, Quentin, you're right.

I must stop this.

I will get through this night.

Stay with me, Quentin.

QUENTIN: Yes, of course.

BARNABAS: We must see Angelique.

You're not going to help him?

Jeb Hawkes tried to k*ll me.

He saved Carolyn.

He loves her, and so do you and I.

We must help her.

Now, if you're here when I see Angelique,

the scene is less likely to degenerate into a quarrel.

Please stay.

[laughing]

Well, I never thought I'd end up helping Jeb Hawkes.

Thank you, Quentin.

All right.

Angelique.

Hear me.

Come to me this night.

Angelique, come to me.

CHRIS: Has Dr. Hoffman been there tonight?

I see.

Thank you.

Sabrina, I'm calling another doctor.

No, no.

Why not?

Why do you insist on her?

She's a friend.

Sabrina, do you love me?

Yes.

Then tell me.

What happened to you tonight?

Help Carolyn?

Well, at least you're not asking for yourself, Barnabas.

That is a surprise.

But why should I help Carolyn?

You liked her when she came to Little Winward Island.

ANGELIQUE: I liked her, yes.

But why should she have love?

When you don't?

Jeb is not responsible for Sky Rumson.

Well, then who is?

BARNABAS: Nicholas Blair.

He must have been the one who sat in the depths of hell

and planned all this.

You know, you owe an apology to Jeb.

Why?

BARNABAS: Well, he's the one who told you

about your husband.

You may never have known the truth.

It would have been too late.

I will see Jeb Hawkes.

Help him.

I will see him here, and alone.

What happens depends on him.

Bring him here.

QUENTIN: Now, what are we doing here?

I could have had a drink while Jeb and Angelique

are at the old house.

Quentin, there's something else you must know.

You have no idea what's behind that door.

QUENTIN: Any empty room.

Open it, Quentin.

Go ahead, open it. I'll explain later.

Someone's living here.

Look, Quentin.

QUENTIN: That's a picture of David and me.

You cannot enter.

Now, what is this?

Well, tell me!

[door rattling]

Wait

and watch.

But Jeb's at the old house.

BARNABAS: Yes.

QUENTIN: He can't hear us?

BARNABAS: No.

CHRIS: Looking for something, Doctor?

JEB: Well, actually, I--

Found it.

Her address book.

Angelique?

JEB: You see, just before she died,

she gave me the name of a chemist in Boston.

Indeed, perhaps you should have written it down.

Oh, yes, yes, yes, I know.

Well, actually, I did.

I did and then I forgot where the paper was.

Isn't that convenient then?

Surely you can do better than that.

JEB: No, I'm not lying.

Well, indeed, no it's just very important

that I get in touch with this chemist.

- Why? - Why?

Is there some chemical you cannot get in Collinsport?

I have strict instructions to allow no one

to take anything from this room without the permission

of Julia Hoffman.

Would you care to check on that?

No, no, I'm sorry,

I guess I just have to get along without it.

Yes, well I'm sorry I bothered you.

QUENTIN: Well, now what is this?

Look, Quentin.

Incredible.

Yes, Quentin.

You have just seen parallel time.

Don't you think it's considerate of me?

Here we are in the dark, just the two of us,

as though we were alone.

Yes, but it waits for me for one little bit of light.

And you know that as well as I do.

I hear that you're in love.

Barnabas told me.

I'm a great believer in love.

Well, then take the shadow off me.

Make it disappear?

No, I can't do that.

It must k*ll.

Why?

You can do it.

No, I can't.

But you can, if you're willing.

Do you still have the paper cut-out

that I placed on your heart?

Yes.

All you must do is place it on the heart of another.

I can't k*ll anyone now.

My, how you've changed.

Don't you have any enemies at all?

Because I have one, and his name is Nicholas Blair.

He knows about the shadow, all about it.

Now, shall I tell you what to do?

Yes.

Tell me.

Tell me.

But this is an emergency.

Then page her.

I don't care if she is in consultation.

She won't mind, believe me.

Then please give her the message when she's through.

I'm going to the hospital.

I'll take you there.

No, tell her to come here.

I'll lock the door.

Don't let anybody in.

[lock clicking]

[clock chiming]

More hours to live through till dawn.

I will not go out.

I must stay here.

It is our only hope.

Think of other things.

Jeb, Angelique.

Why was she so mysterious about how she would help him?

Will she?

Can he trust her any more than I?

[knocking]

[knocking]

SABRINA: Barnabas.

Get out.

SABRINA: You need me.

I don't.

Yes, you do.

Don't lie to me, Barnabas.

For both our sakes, leave me.

You can't help it any more than I can.

No, no.

You want me, Barnabas.

That is all I know.

You want me.

If I had all my powers, there would be no Angelique here.

Imagine her coming here to taunt me.

Yes, taunt me.

Who is there?

Thought we'd never meet again, hmm?

I had hoped that would be so.

But we must.

Oh, yes.

Too much has been left undone.

We must talk.

Perhaps for the last time.
