699 - February 26, 1969

[Maggie narrating] - For the first time since it was built,

the great house at Collinwood is all but deserted.

Only young David Collins remains,

the prisoner of a supernatural force.

In grave danger of being k*lled off one by one,

the family has been forced to move into the Old House.

Now, another dawn has come,

and while the family fears for David's safety,

Barnabas Collins and Julia Hoffman

must attend to another crisis,

one the rest of the family knows nothing about.

- You won't hear anything. - Why not?

- He's probably unconscious. - Unconscious?

- Don't be alarmed.

When he changes, he's blacked out.

[growling]

[eerie music] ♪♪

[growling]

Get out of here, Julia. Get out!

Barnabas, Barnabas, he should have made the change back

almost two hours ago, but he hasn't.

- No and we have no idea when he will.

- If he does.

- We should be expecting something like this.

- Oh, We should have expected something like this, Barnabas.

After that, that last time when he changed

and there was no moon.

I suspect that each time, it will get worse.

And it will take longer and longer for him

to make the change back.

- Until the time comes when he won't be able to change back

and will have to go on living as he is now.

- Yes.

Barnabas, perhaps the only answer is to - to --

- To k*ll him?

- Yes.

Because we're - we're not even close to finding a solution.

- We are much closer than we were when we started.

- Oh, what are we going to do?

He's totally unpredictable now.

He is more dangerous now than ever.

- Not if he stays in that room.

- But we're not the only people that know about that room.

- I know.

We'll have to find some way of locking this outer door.

I'll have Willie attend to it right away.

Come on, Julia.

[knocking on door]

- Well -- - Good morning, Maggie.

- Amy!

What are you doing out of your room?

- I'm not supposed to stay in their all the time, am I?

- Did Carolyn stay with you last night?

- Yes.

I don't like people to watch me all the time.

- Amy, we're doing it for your own good.

We don't want anything to happen to you.

- Nothing is going to, Maggie.

- Well, that's what we thought about David.

- Did you just get up?

- No, I haven't been to bed yet.

- Why not?

á* Well, I wanted to sleep, but I - I just couldn't.

I kept thinking about David.

You know - you know where David is, don't you?

- No, no, I don't, Maggie.

- Amy!

How am I ever, ever going to be able to reach you

when you're just as afraid as David was.

- I - I think I'd better go back to my room now.

- Amy, please, stay here.

I have to talk to you.

Sooner or later, you must realize

that you're the only one who can help us find David.

- I can't help you, Maggie. You've got to believe that.

- Well, I don't.

I've been thinking about a lot of things.

Like, the night before last when I was standing

by the window downstairs and I saw you.

You ran through the woods and I followed you

all the way to Collinwood.

And I realize now that you weren't running away from me.

You wanted me to follow you, didn't you?

- I don't know what you mean, Maggie.

- I mean, that you lured me to Collinwood

because someone told you to.

- No, Maggie.

- Yes.

Because someone wanted me to come back.

Now, who was it?

- No one, honest, Maggie.

- Was it, Quentin?

Now, that name means something to you, doesn't it?

You know who Quentin is.

- No, no, I don't, Maggie.

- Yes. And you know that wherever Quentin is

that's where we're going to find David.

- Please let me go back to my room.

- Amy, Amy, look at me.

Amy, don't you realize that Quentin is a bad person

that he may want to harm David?

He - he might possibly even want to k*ll him.

- David is going to be all right.

I know he is.

- Amy, if you are so sure of that,

then you must know where David is.

Now, why don't you take us to him

so that we can see for ourselves that he is safe.

- I can't do that, Maggie.

- Why not?

- I can't!

- Amy, what if you do keep quiet?

And then, something does happen to David?

- I don't want anything to happen to David.

I'd like to help him but -- - But what?

If I say any more

he will do something terrible to Chris.

- Chris? - Amy.

Amy, what does Quentin have to do with Chris?

- I don't know.

Now, did Quentin actually say he'd hurt Chris?

What did he tell you?

- I can't say anymore.

I'm afraid!

- Maggie, Maggie,

why don't I take her downstairs and stay with her.

You look as though you need some rest.

- Yes, I do.

- You haven't heard anything about David?

- Nothing.

Amy, why don't you go downstairs now with Dr. Hoffman

and don't worry.

She won't ask you any more questions.

- I can't. I'm afraid.

I'm afraid!

[door closes]

[Quentin's theme] ♪♪

- I know who you are.

You're Quentin, aren't you?

What do you want with me?

Why have you brought me here?

This dress.

That was the dress that I saw in the drawing room.

Why are you trying to give it to me?

It's not mine. I don't want it.

Don't come near me, please.

Please, stay where you are.

[music continues] ♪♪

[gasps]

Julia! Julia!

- Maggie, Maggie, what's the matter?

- Do you know where Barnabas is?

- Well, he left with Willie about a half hour ago.

Why? - I just had a dream.

I saw his face again.

- Whose face?

- It was Quentin's.

I saw the room where he took me the night before last.

- Where is it?

- That's just it - I can't remember where the room was.

- Do you remember anything else?

- It seems that - he wasn't with me,

that I was - I was being drawn somewhere.

- Where? - Yes.

Yes, I do remember something else

because the minute that I woke up,

I remember two images flashed into my mind.

The first was a - the first was a dark long old staircase.

The second was Mrs. Stoddard's room.

- Mrs. Stoddard's room? Why should you think of that?

- I don't know.

Julia, if I could only put these images into

some kind of a sequence --

- Well, try, Maggie, try.

It may be the only way we have of finding David.

Now, what about the staircase? Do you remember where it was?

- No.

- Now, Maggie, try to think of everything

that happened the night before last.

Start from the beginning.

- I - I followed Amy into Collinwood.

I found Amy and she was in the drawing room.

And I was trying to get her to leave with me

and then I noticed that she was staring at something behind me.

I turned around and he was there.

- Quentin?

- Yes!

I thought he was going to hurt me.

And he didn't.

He - he just kept smiling at me.

And then, then he - he took you somewhere?

- Yes. Let me think --

- It must have been up the old staircase.

- Yes!

Yes, it was the old staircase.

Because after that I was --

I was in Mrs. Stoddard's room.

- With Quentin?

- No.

No, I was alone.

But I remember I had the strangest feeling.

I knew that it was Mrs. Stoddard's room,

but I kept feeling that it was mine.

- Then you left her room?

- Yes.

No! No, I didn't just leave it.

It was like I was being drawn --

pulled someplace else.

- Where, Maggie? Where?

- I was walking down a long corridor in the West Wing.

Then I was standing in front of a door.

- You were still alone then?

- Yes.

But I knew that there was somebody waiting for me

beyond the door.

I opened it and I went inside.

Julia!

For some reason, this is the one room

that I can see clearly in my mind.

I don't know why, but --

But first, when I first walked into the room,

I remember - I thought I saw the figure of a - of a man.

I remember that when I saw him I said,

"He's caught us!"

- What does that mean?

- I don't know.

- But I - I remember that when I looked closer,

it turned out not to be a man at all.

It was - it was some sort of a tailor's dummy

with a face painted on it.

Oh. - What?

That was Mr. Juggins!

- Who is Mr. Juggins?

Julia, I'll explain later

but I have to go to Collinwood immediately. - Why?

- Because I remember now what room I was in. - Where?

I was in a room, a storage room in the West Wing.

And there's another room right next to it.

A room that that none of us have ever known before.

That is where I saw Quentin.

And that's where I'm sure we'll find David.

- All right, now, you stay here and wait for me.

I will go and get Barnabas.

- Julia, there isn't time.

I'm sure that David is in - is in danger.

- Anyone going to Collinwood now is in danger.

I refuse to let you go alone.

- Julia, do you know where Barnabas is?

- Don't worry, I - I'll find him.

[wind whistling]

[growling]

- Julia!

- Barnabas, I'm glad I found you.

- Why? What is it?

- Maggie remembers what happened to her the night before last.

- At Collinwood?

- Yes. She thinks she knows where David is.

- Come, Julia.

[knocking on door]

[Julia] - Maggie?

Maggie, I found Barnabas.

Maggie?

- I hope she didn't go to Collinwood alone.

- But she promised me that she'd wait here

until I came back with you.

Come, we must hurry, we may catch up with her.

- Oh -- - Maggie, where have you been?

- I was looking for Amy. She is gone.

- Have you searched the house?

- Well, I was just about to go up to the third floor.

- Julia, will you go up there?

I will go to Collinwood with Maggie.

- All right, yes, of course.

- Maggie, Julia told me what you had remembered.

But there is something I don't understand. - What?

- Well, Willie and I went in through the West Wing

the night before last.

We searched the storage room and found nothing.

- Barnabas, I'm positive that that was the room

and there's another room that that leads to.

There's a small opening at the base of the wall.

- But we found nothing there.

- But I did.

That must mean that someone has covered it up.

Because I'm positive it was there.

And I'm sure that that's how David disappeared

that first night when I went to the West Wing to look for him.

- All right, Maggie. Come and show me.

Maggie, come.

- David? Are you here?

David, there's something important

that I have to tell you.

Please, answer me.

David, if you are in here, please answer me.

Please, answer me.

Quentin.

I only came to warn you, Quentin.

I came to tell you

that Maggie and Barnabas

are on their way here right now.

They know all about this room.

They think that this is where David is

and they're coming to get him.

You are angry with me, aren't you?

I came and told you though, didn't I?

I didn't tell them about the room, honest, Quentin.

Maggie, Maggie said that she was here in a dream.

I heard her telling Dr. Hoffman.

Please --

- There, it is.

- You're right, there is a door behind it.

- It leads to Quentin's room.

- This wall was sealed up when I - when I was here before.

Whoever - whoever unsealed it used this.

- What are you going to do?

- I'm going to rip out the rest of these panels.

And then' we are going to find what's in that room.
