NARRATOR: Fear st*lks the great house of Collingwood,

for Victoria Winters has been missing for over hours.

She is in great danger, for she's

been locked in a room in an isolated house by the sea.

She is the prisoner of a man with a diabolical scheme.

A scheme that will bring terror and destruction to everyone

he contacts.

- I-- I--

where am I?

I was in a room with Adam.

Adam?

He's gone.

I'm alone.

Help!

Help!

Help!

No sound.

VICTORIA [VOICEOVER]: I can't hear anything.

Where can I be?

Did Adam bring me here?

I can't hear anything except water.

The ocean.

I'm somewhere near the ocean.

But what am I doing here?

What's happening to me?

What?

♪ [eerie music playing]

- All right, my dear.

You may rise again.

I have further plans for you.

♪ [eerie theme music]

- Why?

- Why?

- Why did you do this to me?

- Because, my dear Angelique, you may prove useful to me

as you are.

As Cassandra, you were only a nuisance.

- Even youth can't be this cruel.

- Oh, can't I?

- I would have preferred death to becoming a vampire.

- I imagine Barnabas Collins has said the same thing

a number of times.

- You're smiling.

- I can't help it, my dear.

ANGELIQUE: You enjoy torturing me, don't you?

- I enjoy the irony of poetic justice.

- You call this poetic justice?

BLAIR: Of course.

- How can you say that?

- You were so anxious for Barnabas Collins

to revert to what he was, and now you,

uh, have his affliction.

I call that poetic justice.

- How long do you intend to make me suffer?

- I'll decide that, dear.

You may stay as you are indefinitely.

- Nicholas, please.

- Don't plead with me, my dear.

You know how much it bores me.

ANGELIQUE: But this isn't fair to do this to me.

I've helped you in the past.

I--

- As Cassandra, you never helped me.

You were only a hindrance.

Furthermore, you disobeyed make me,

and I think you should be punished for that, don't you?

- How can I redeem myself?

Tell me what you want me to do.

- Follow my orders.

- What are they?

- First of all, you are my sl*ve, totally and completely.

You will do only what I tell you to do.

Agreed?

ANGELIQUE: Yes.

- I will choose your victims.

You will not attack anyone unless I tell you to do it.

- Sometimes the craving is so strong.

- You must resist it.

You are my sl*ve, remember?

You will do exactly as I tell you to do.

- Yes. All right.

- Now, I know your first impulse will

be to attack Barnabas Collins.

You will stay away from him or you

will suffer the consequences.

- Why are you so concerned about Barnabas?

- Because of Adam.

Because of my plan.

ANGELIQUE: What is your plan?

Why have you always been so secretive about it?

- sl*ves are not supposed to ask questions.

- I'm sorry.

- Nevertheless, I shall tell you what

my plan is because even contemplating

it gives me pleasure.

I intend, my dear, to create a race of super beings

who will serve my master and control the world.

- What?

- That's right.

And I intend to accomplish my goal to Adam.

I pray they will balance beautifully.

I know where the power is.

- What are you talking about?

- How did Adam come to exist?

- He was created by Eric Lang.

And he was brought to life by Julia Hoffman.

- So he is the first in a new species of man.

A human being created by another human being, just as

the original Adam was the first of his kind.

- What about it?

- Be logical, my dear.

It's purely a matter of using power

to set the balance on my side.

How did the original Adam become the father of the human race?

ANGELIQUE: He had sons.

- Of course.

And, uh, who brought him those sons?

ANGELIQUE: Eve. - Correct.

This Adam will propagate, too.

His sons will have sons, all of them controlled by our master,

just as Adam is controlled by me.

The mistakes made with the original Adam

will not be made again.

Things will not get out of balance this time.

- But Nicholas, this Adams exists alone.

There is no Eve.

- There will be.

- But you-- you don't know how to create human life.

- True.

On the other hand, Julia Hoffman does.

And Barnabas Collins will persuade

her to repeat the original experiment.

- Oh, but if they refuse to help you,

will you still be able to succeed?

- Yes.

Their refusal would upset things dreadfully, but in the end,

they will agree.

For now, control is mine.

You might say the power belongs to me.

Victoria Winters.

- Yes, he is.

He's quite busy right now. Could I help you?

No, I'm his secretary.

But I think I could tell you anything you need to know.

- Well, I want to ask Mr. Blair some questions about a man

named Thomas Jennings.

- Oh, yes.

The man who was attacked.

I read about it in the newspapers.

It was dreadful.

Do you know him?

- Only slightly.

He did some electrical wiring.

If I was staring at you, it's probably

because you're so handsome.

He's in a coma.

The doctors don't think he'll ever come out of it.

- But who is keeping me here?

At least you can tell me that.

- I'm not allowed to tell you that, either.

- This must be a dream.

But why can't I wake up?

- Because it isn't a dream.

You really exist in this place.

VICTORIA: But you, this room--

it's all so unreal.

- Perhaps there's a reason for that.

- What do you mean?

- Perhaps you're lost in a void.

VICTORIA: A void?

- A pocket in time.

Caught somewhere between the past and the present,

but belonging to neither.

- I don't believe you.

- Believe what you want to believe.

- Why are you here?

- I've come to help you escape.

- Why would you want to help me?

You've never been anything but vicious and cruel to me.

- Well, if You don't want my help, there's nothing I can do.

- Oh, I'm willing to take anyone's help, as long as it'll

help me to escape from here.

ANGELIQUE: Are you willing to cooperate?

- How?

- You must give me something in order for me to help you.

VICTORIA: What?

- Your engagement ring.

- My engagement ring? ANGELIQUE: Yes.

You must give it to me or I can't help you.

- Why do you want it?

- I'll take it to the man you love.

And through it, he will find you.

- I won't give it to you.

- Then I won't be able to help you.

And I'm the only one who can.

- Where are you going?

- Would I want to take your ring if I

weren't trying to help you?

I-- I only exist--

I don't exist in time.

I-- worldly possessions have nothing--

mean nothing to me.

- You want it because-- because it's my last link with reality.

But I won't give it to you.

- So be it.

- Where are you going?

- I'm leaving.

And I shall never return.

Neither will anyone else.

You face eternity in this room because you

wouldn't accept my help.

Goodbye, Victoria Winters.

I pity you.

- No, wait. ANGELIQUE: Yes?

- I still don't trust you, but if there's

one chance in a million that you're telling the truth--

- Give me the ring.

- Here.

- I'll take it to the man you love and he will find you.

- Please be telling the truth.

Please find Jeff and give it to him.

At least he'll know I'm alive.

- Jeff?

Who is Jeff?

- Jeff Clark, my fiance.

- There's no Jeff Clark.

- What?

- Jeff Clark does not exist.

There is only Peter Bradford.

- What are you saying?

What do you mean?

You've got to explain to me!

ANGELIQUE: [evil laughter]

- Adam?

- I'm here. - Good.

- I've been waiting.

- Now, you will do everything I tell you to do.

- What shall I do?

- You'll go to Barnabas.

You will telling him you were holding Ms. Winters.

You will tell him he must go ahead with the experiment

or she will die.

- Yes.

- Give him this.

- Why?

- It belongs to Ms. Winters.

It's proof that we are holding her.

After Barnabas sees it, I doubt if he'll

have much trouble making up his mind about the experiment.

BARNABAS [VOICEOVER]: Vicky, where can you be?

What could be happening to you?

Are you still alive?

You've got to be.

You-- you've got to be.

ADAM: Barnabas.

BARNABAS: You.

- We will talk.

- Where is Vicky?

What have you done to her?

BARNABAS: She is safe.

- Then it was you who kidnapped her?

- Yes. BARNABAS: I knew it.

If you've harmed her--

- I told you she is safe.

- Where is she?

- That I will not tell you.

But I will give you this.

- Her engagement ring.

- Yes.

It proves that I know where she is.

BARNABAS: Then she's still alive?

- Yes, for now. - You mustn't harm her.

She's never done anything to you.

- But you have. - Me?

ADAM: Yes.

You refused to do what I asked you to.

- What you asked me to do is impossible.

- It is not!

BARNABAS: I cannot create a mate for you.

I haven't the ability to create life.

- You made me live.

BARNABAS: I had very little to do with it.

Dr. Lang created you and--

and Dr. Hoffman completed the experiment which gave you life.

I couldn't create a mate for you even if I wanted to.

- And Julia could?

BARNABAS: No, she-- she refuses even to think about it.

ADAM: Then Victoria winters will die.

- You cannot k*ll an innocent girl.

- You love her.

BARNABAS: You cannot k*ll Vicky simply because you hate me.

Now, you-- you must leave her alone.

And if you want to k*ll, k*ll me.

- No, Barnabas.

You want me to be lonely always.

If you do not create a mate for me,

then you, too, will be lonely always.

- You cannot do this!

- Decide, Barnabas.

If you do not decide by tomorrow night,

Victoria Winters will die.

- Adam.

Adam.
