[narrator] Ash's goal is to battle

one of the world's greatest Trainers, Leon.

Goh's goal is to catch one of every kind of Pokémon,

including Mew.

This is the story of their adventure-filled journey

through the world of Pokémon!

[camera shutter clicks]

The Pokémon World Coronation Series is made up of battles

that will determine the top Pokémon Trainer.

Ash wants to have a battle with the current reigning Monarch, Leon.

Which is why he first entered the World Coronation Series.

My next opponent is chosen!

[narrator] Ash's ranking has risen to th in the Ultra Class,

and his next opponent is none other

than the Galar region Gym Leader Bea!

When they were in the Great Class, Ash and Bea faced off twice.

Liquidation, go!

Riolu!

[Riolu exclaims]

[pained groan]

[narrator] Ash lost the first match.

[both] Let's go!

-Riolu! -Grapp!

[narrator] Their second match ended in a tie.

Now, we have their third showdown.

The location of which will be Bea's home turf in the Galar region.

Stow on Side Stadium.

Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon have come to get a look

in preparation for the next day's battle.

[Goh pants]

-Grookey, key! -[both] Huh!

-It's Bea and her Pokémon. -[grunting]

[both grunting]

[Pokémon grunting]

[all grunting]

[Bea and her Pokémon exclaiming]

[grunting]

-Wow. -Grookey.

[grunts] Huh?

[Bea's Pokémon grunting]

That's good.

You're Riolu's Trainer.

It has been a while.

My name is Ash!

And it's not Riolu now!

It appears that it's evolved.

All right. Very well, Lucario's Trainer.

-[both laugh sheepishly] -I should've known.

[Pokémon chatter]

[Ash] I want you to meet my friends!

[Bea] My Pokémon are the six you see here.

[Pokémon chatter]

and you're basically laying your cards on the table.

Korrina and I are meeting up.

[tense music]

[Ash] Ko… Korrina?

-[sighs] -Huh?

Korrina and Bea, do those two actually even get along?

[worried groan]

-[Ash and Goh groan] -[Korrina] I'm so sorry!

They were all sold out of the Lumiose Galettes!

-You're not mad? -I trust your judgment.

[both] Lucario, this isn't the time for a battle!

[both chuckle] Great minds think alike!

[both groan]

[both exclaim happily]

Everybody loves them.

Giving Poké Puffs to Pokémon is a Kalos tradition!

But that's not all.

[Korrina] Next up? Laverre chocolat!

[both] Wow!

Looks delicious.

Here! For Ash and Goh too.

[Ash] Can't wait!

[Goh] Me either!

-Here goes! -Thanks, Korrina!

[Ash and Goh] Delicious!

[all exclaim happily]

You just can't stop eating them!

We never even imagined

that the two of you would be good friends like this.

Because back when we had our first battle,

Bea told me that you were overconfident.

She wasn't kidding!

[chuckles] See, Bea's never one to mince words!

I simply cannot subscribe to the idea that battles are just for fun.

You see what I mean?

But that's totally not a deal breaker in my book.

Bea treats her Pokémon right.

Being a Fighting-type Trainer,

I learn so many things from her!

The same is true for me, Korrina.

[Korrina, Goh, and Ash groan]

[all gibbering]

So Ash? Is it true that this is your third battle with Bea?

And I'm really looking forward to us battling this time!

To me, this is a sort of test.

[Bea] This will be the third time

I'll battle against you, Lucario's Trainer.

So what will that bring out in me?

Tomorrow, I'll know.

where Trainers battle to be number one in the world!

Now, the matchup for today's competition!

and from the Galar region…

Gym Leader Bea!

And, as expected, she's wearing a Dynamax Band.

-Go, Bea! -So she is using Dynamax.

Course she is!

Stow on Side Stadium is a Dynamax Power Spot!

And Bea-Bea's Dynamaxing is incredible!

[announcer] Facing her, after successfully using an amazing Z Move

against Gym Leader Volkner to break into the Ultra Class…

The talk of the tournament!

From the Kanto region,

presently ranked th, it's Ash!

[announcer] Look at that!

Which means he isn't using a Z Move today, but Mega Evolution instead!

Now, according to the rules,

a Trainer can use Dynamax, Mega Evolution,

or a Z Move only once in the match.

Quick Attack was a decoy move so that Electroweb could land.

-I'm sure of it! -[angry groan]

[pained groaning]

[Grapploct grunts]

[gasps]

[Pikachu yelling]

-[Grapploct grunts] -Pika!

Pikachu!

-Pika, pika! -[Grapploct grunting]

[both] Huh!

[announcer] Who would've expected Close Combat?

Grapploct shows its strength!

It's like it doesn't even feel the Electroweb!

[groans]

[grunts]

It may have been before it evolved…

[Goh] But when Lucario battled Grapplock last time,

it was only able to squeak out a draw.

So Lucario will wanna go one better.

[angry grunt]

Ash is being cautious not to get within arm's reach.

As long as Grapploct has its Octolock,

I can understand that tactic.

[growls]

[announcer] Lucario's doubles have vanished!

The splashes from that Liquidation have done their job!

But where is the real Lucario?

[grunting]

That's right. It's only just begun!

I think that they're still feeling each other out!

And this time it's Hawlucha.

[narrator] The second Pokémon Bea has chosen is Hawlucha!

What kind of battle is in store?

[yells]

[grunts]

And now, Wing Attack!

[low groan]

[both grunting]

Battle back with all you've got, Lucario!

[announcer] What a heroic punch out!

They're competing to be the best in both speed and power!

[both grunting]

[both exclaim]

[grunting]

Mm… Huh?

[crashes]

[announcer] That Sky Attack landed a massive hit!

Lucario really felt that!

-Pika. -Oh, no.

She hasn't changed.

[Ash] I still can't find an opening!

You know, Hawlucha's much faster since the last time I saw it.

Remember who we're talking about.

This is Bea!

Better today than yesterday, and better tomorrow than today.

Ash isn't any different than that.

Grookey-groo!

[struggled groaning]

[moans]

-[grumbles] -[crowd cheering]

Awesome! You can still go on!

[announcer] Lucario managed to stand, showing how tough it can be!

[Bea] All right, Hawlucha, return!

-Return? -Hmm.

Machamp! Ma… [grunts]

[announcer] Bea's third Pokémon is Machamp!

And it's raring to go right out of its Poké Ball!

[Lucario growls]

Okay, it's Machamp!

[growls]

[Rotom Phone chimes]

[Rotom Phone] Machamp.

The Superpower Pokémon.

A Fighting type.

Machamp's four arms move reflexively, which makes it very fast,

and allows it to deliver rapid fire punches.

Bea's really determined to keep up the offensive throughout this battle.

She's already brought out her ace in the hole!

Ace in the hole?

Yeah, that's right!

She's got her Dynamax Band!

[worried gasp]

[Gigantamax Machamp roaring]

Now, b*llet Punch!

Machamp!

-Pika! -Force Palm!

[both grunting]

[announcer] And Machamp's pressing the attack!

Machamp!

[groans]

All right, close in again! Force Palm!

[both grunting]

All right, now use b*llet Punch!

[both groan]

[grunting]

[both grunt]

[worried groan]

[announcer] And Machamp's four arms unleash a flurry of punches!

-[growls] -Hold on.

This isn't half

-of what Machamp is able to do! -Huh?

[both grunt]

[groans]

-Argh! -Pika!

[announcer] Machamp has Lucario pinned down!

Use Cross Chop!

[groans]

[grunts]

[pained groan]

[announcer] Machamp is so strong, Lucario can't land a punch!

Now, use b*llet Punch!

[groans]

[heavy grunting]

[groaning]

-Lucario, no! -Pika, pika!

[announcer] What will Lucario do now?

What can Ash do?

[grunts] So strong.

[surprised gasp]

[all gasp]

[announcer] Look! Ash is grabbing hold of his Mega Glove!

Can he break out of this using Mega Evolution?

here we go!

[snarls]

[growling]

[shocked gasp]

[groans]

It doesn't wanna Mega Evolve!

I'm thinking the exact same thing as you.

Yeah.

-That's what it's saying, isn't it? -Hm.

[groaning]

[gasps]

-[Machamp yelps] -[breathes heavily]

[announcer] Lucario managed to free itself on its own!

Lucario's strong feelings somehow managed to dim the light

from that Key Stone!

[groans]

[grunts]

[shocked gasp]

[groans]

[announcer] It seems Ash and Lucario are struggling

to get on the same page!

I wasn't really thinking of what we'll need later.

[affirmative groan]

A Pokémon and its Trainer as equal partners…

[announcer] Mega Evolution didn't happen!

Could it be that their bond isn't that strong?

-[Leon] Maybe it's not strong enough. -Huh?

Or maybe it's too strong.

That's why this happened.

is joining me in the broadcast booth!
