NARRATOR As Ash and friends continue their journey

toward the Hoenn League

they first need to make their way across Izabe Island.

Then, it's off to Sootopolis City

where Ash hopes to earn his eighth and final Gym badge.

Hey, look up there, you guys.

BROCK 'Whoa.'

'It's a giant Poké Ball.'

But it's way too big to be a Poké Ball

I sure would love to know the story behind it.

SIGOURNEY 'Then I'll tell you.'

ASH/MAY/BROCK/MAX Huh?

Those who seek knowledge deserve to gain knowledge.

Hi, who are you?

I am Sigourney, the sage of Izabe Island.

- What are sages again? - Philosophers.

SIGOURNEY 'That is correct.'

'And I have the knowledge you seek about the stone Poké Ball.'

The legend of the great Poké Ball

has been passed down since olden times

here in the Valley of Destruction.

ASH/MAY/BROCK/MAX The Valley of Destruction?

ASH "Claydol Big and Tall."

SIGOURNEY 'Centuries ago, in the time of the destruction'

'a great power was sealed within that Poké Ball.'

What kind of power?

It must've been bad.

Doesn't matter now, the Ball is empty.

An evil stranger released the destructive force within

many years ago.

What happened when the force came out?

Well, what do you think it did, ordered pizza?

It destroyed the island.

For seven days and seven nights

the destroyer roamed at will crushing and burning

everything in its path.

Just when all hope was lost

a figure appeared out of nowhere, a white sage.

This sage summoned a second giant Poké Ball from another

mysterious dimension and sealed the destroyer inside it.

It's trapped still in the middle of Izabe Lake.

As proof that my story is true.

ASH/MAY/BROCK/MAX Oh!

Yes, it's all right here in the book and this explains

what has always been a great mystery to the sages.

The ancients drew this.

'Pictures of a Claydol the size of normal Claydol.'

Claydol, huh?

Claydol, the Clay Doll Pokémon.

Claydol is the evolved form of Baltoy.

These ancient Pokémon are said to have come alive

when a mysterious light instilled life

Claydol can fly and are able to fire beams from both arms.

The ancient text says only

that the Great Destroyer's path of destruction

was total and unpredictable.

There's no way to know what's going to happen.

[ATTACK]

Okay, it's pretty obvious now.

Well, no matter how big it is, a Pokémon's a Pokémon.

[grunts]

I'll catch it with a Poké Ball.

[DISMISSIVE]

[EXERTION]

No good, I guess an ordinary Poké Ball

can't handle something that big.

Then we shall have to go to the mountaintop

and use the legendary stone Ball.

But we could never lift that Poké Ball

and bring it all the way down here.

SIGOURNEY 'No. Of course not.'

In that case, we'll have to get the Claydol up to the Poké Ball.

And then we can seal it up inside the Ball.

[DETERMINED]

But how are we gonna get it up the mountain?

Yeah, it's so strong that Team Rocket's balloon

couldn't even budge it.

That's true.

Let me worry about the strategy.

the giant Claydol was a ceramic doll created by a water maiden

"After much deep thought the sage concluded

it was hunger that drove the giant Claydol toward the town."

It says here that the sage was then able to learn

what the Great Destroyer's favorite food was.

And by placing the food as bait along the trail

led it away and thereby saved the village.

That is what we must do.
