NARRATOR After arriving in Lilycove City

Ash and friends discover they are just in time

for the Lilycove Coordinator's Contest.

May decides to enter, and meets one of her future rivals

local Pokéblock maker, Kelly.

In addition to knowing her way around

the Lilycove Berry Market.

Kelly is a Trainer to Grumpig

a powerful Psychic Pokémon.

Despite being her competitor

Kelly gives May an introduction

to the making of custom Pokéblock.

Though the results are less than delicious.

The next day, as May leads off the competition

disaster strikes when her Combusken's Fire Spin

goes out of control!

Can she turn back its attack?

Or will it spin into a win?

Maybe she'll be the toast of the town?

Can you tell us your reasons?

Losing control of her Fire Spin

showed a disturbing lack of concentration and teamwork.

'The performance following it was wonderful'

'but I still had to take that into account.'

You were only trying to give them your best performance.

And I just bet you we'll make it to the second round anyway.

But then you recovered so well

it almost seemed like you planned it that way.

Well, I owe it all to Combusken.

It jumped between me and the Fire Spin

when it saw I was in danger.

If it was willing to make such a sacrifice for me

I had to get it together and come up with something.

So, that's when I got the idea to use the flames

as part of our show!

Well, all I can say is, watching you inspires me

to do my best. Right?

VIVIAN 'What a crowd-pleasing performance.'

Everybody here, even the judges, are clapping

along with Kelly and her Grumpig's aerial display.

- Never seen anything like this. - Yeah.

Getting the whole crowd into the act was a great plan.

Wow, I was right. She's really good.

[AGREEMENT]

Alright, Grumpig. Finish this up with Bounce.

[BOUNCE MOVE]

[CHEWING]

Well, that's it, folks.

Kelly and her Grumpig managed to pull

the whole audience here into her act.

Very impressive.

By giving Kelly a score like that

the judges must be sending a message

that putting on a really good show

is just as important as skill and technique.

Hopefully, May'll make it into the second round

and then she can try and get the crowd into it the same way.

That was such an awesome performance, Kelly.

You and Grumpig made it all look so easy.

Well, that's a relief, because

you know it wasn't easy at all.

Grumpig and I worked for months to get that down.

Watching a performance like that has made me

even more determined.

Jessafina's departure from the soothing sound

to its painful opposite was brilliant in that

it was the last thing anyone was expecting.

Seeing how Jessie was able to wrangle out

those abilities from Chimecho

she might be a better combo with it than you are, James.

It would help if you had some sort of a signal.

when to switch from flight mode to attack mode.

Of course, timing is critical

so you must pay close attention.

But then, you'll find that the signal may even help

motivate your Pokémon because it feels

you are both in the battle together.

when she's planning something evil.
