it's gonna be a pretty tough battle, right?

I never really wanted to be a Pokémon Trainer.

All I ever really wanted to do

was get out and travel and see different places.

Being a Trainer was the perfect excuse

to be able to do all that!

And to be perfectly honest

I never really even liked Pokémon.

But now I really love 'em.

Torchic, Wurmple, Pikachu.

And so I'm glad I went through all that and became a Trainer

'cause it helped me appreciate Pokémon!

I just knew that was for me right away.

You see, those Pokémon were cute and strong

and that's the kind of Pokémon I want.

The kind that'll take your breath away!

So Ash is using Treecko first.

Based on type, Treecko's got the advantage

as a Grass Pokémon.

That's true, but there's a small problem

and that would be Treecko doesn't know

how to use any Grass Attacks.

Hey, then that's a big problem.

That makes it more exciting.

I can't wait to see what Ash's strategy is.

it multiplied the force of the attack.

I guess I'd have to say it was a brilliant maneuver, Ash.

First, we tunnel our clever selves down under

and up to the Gym floor.

Next, we make our dramatic entrance through said Gym floor

bag Pikachu, then retrace our steps through said tunnel.

Where's the thrill in that?

Well, whenever we attempt an expensive operation

we fall flat on our foiled faces.

This way, we can work conservatively

without worrying about a budget disaster.

- Budget? - Conserve?

[AFFIRMATIVE]

Pikachu's Thunder Attack. Awesome!

Yeah, but it could have lost a lot of energy

by using Thunder right off, huh?

with Geodude, we've never lost to an Electric Pokémon.
