(narrator) After waging a losing Gym Battle challenge

against the Nacrene Gym Leader, Lenora

and her Pokemon, Lillipup and Watchog

Ash has decided to pay a visit to the Pokemon Battle Club

for some special training

before challenging Lenora once again.

And what a Battle Club it is!

[instrumental music]

[all gasping]

You are now standing in our Pokemon Battle Club's

training room. You may train to your heart's content.

Great! Thanks a lot, Don George.

Let's start with Tepig.

Tepig will be using that machine.

First off, the key to defeating Gym Leader Lenora

is all about raising your Pokemon's speed

and powering up their moves.

Tepig, are you ready to train super hard?

- Tepig. - 'And you!'

You have to train hard, as well, Ash.

(Don) When Lenora and her Pokemon

use their Roar and Mean Look combination

a challenger needs to stay calm, focused

and able to make quick decisions.

So as your Pokemon's Trainer

rigorous training is vitally important.

Alright, dodge and counter.

Remember, Lenora's Shadow ba*ls

aren't gonna be as easy to deal with.

[groaning]

- Tepig! - Ah!

Wow! They're getting the hang of it.

- Axew! - Excellent, Ash.

I'm raising the speed. Stay on your toes!

Now, prepare for Shadow ba*ls from behind!

[both grunting]

Counter them with Ember!

Tepig!

[both screaming]

- Ah! - Ash!

[groaning] Man, we need more power. Huh?

If you both continue to train the way you are

speed and power will increase

but you can only attain that higher state as a team.

Hm.

Hm.

- Got it! - Tepig.

[both groaning]

[panting]

[breathing heavily]

You know, Ash, I think you're a lot faster



than when you first started.

It's true, but still

you'll need more depth and sharpness to beat Lenora.

It's a good time to give Tepig a rest.

It's also a good time to train with Oshawott.

Yeah, although it had the flavor of being a bit unsteady.

Wow, I can't believe you learned that move.

- Great job, Oshawott! - Oshawott.

[all laughing]

[Ash grunting]

[Tepig grunting]

Great, their training is showing solid results

since Tepig's much faster now

and its Ember's starting to show real power.

We're gonna beat Lenora for sure!

That confident look on your face tells me



you've been training a lot.

We've been working with Don George

over at the Pokemon Battle Club.

And I'm gonna win that badge this time for sure!

Well, it certainly hasn't done anything to dampen your spirit.

So you can expect double from me.

You'll be facing off against these Pokemon.

[grunting]

- Watchog! - Herdier.

Watchog and.. Who's that Pokemon?

(Pokedex) Herdier, the Loyal-Dog Pokemon

and the evolved form of Lillipup.

Herdier's hard black fur

softens its opponent's attacks like armor.

Hm, Lillipup evolved?

So Lenora's using a different Pokemon this battle.

Lenora must be trying to bring out Ash's strength

'and the best way was to evolve Lillipup into Herdier.'

Alright! Herdier's stronger than Lillipup for sure!

Yeah! I am so psyched!

I'm glad you like my little surprise, Ash.

Herdier will also be your first opponent.

We're ready. You're gonna see just how hard we trained.

Alright! Tepig, I choose you!

The Nacrene Gym Battle rematch challenge will now get underway

'between Gym Leader Lenora'

'and the challenger, Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town.'

This is a two-on-two battle.

First move is the challenger's!

All that training made Tepig much faster

and powered up its moves, as well.

Show them they're wasting their time with Roar!

Watchog, come on out!

[grunts]

- Watchog! - Watchog, use Mean Look!

[grunting]

Of course, first off you used Roar

and then you used Mean Look.

So you're using that strategy again.

Well, if you knew this was coming

I hope you came up with some sort of counterstrategy.

You bet I did!

Alright. Oshawott, Razor Shell!

Alright, Watchog, dodge it!

[groaning]

Well, I see that Oshawott is a lot faster, too.

Yeah! So time for a new move.

Oshawott, Aqua Jet!

Oshawott!

Huh?

[all gasping]

- Oshawott.. - Oshawott, are you okay?

- Oshawott. - Then use Aqua Jet again!

Oshawott!

- No, Oshawott! - Huh? Again?

Oshawott's Aqua Jet's still a bit shaky

even after all that work.

- Oshawott? - Oshawott.

Oshawott is much faster and even learned Aqua Jet

although it looks like that move still has quite a ways to go.

You don't have enough to defeat me.

Don't be so sure! Oshawott, use Water g*n!

(Lenora) 'Watchog, Confuse Ray. Go!'

Wa-Watchog!

Huh? Huh?

- Oshawott. - What's going on?

You can train all you want, but if your Pokemon's confused

it won't mean a thing. Don't you think?

It's our turn, Watchog. I think we'll use Thunderbolt.

[grunting]

Deflect it with Razor Shell!

[grunting]

Oshawott, use Water g*n

and show 'em what you've got!

Huh? Oshawott!

In addition to being confused

Oshawott was hit with an Electric-Type move

with a type advantage, so I'm afraid

Oshawott has taken a large amount of damage at this point.

Are you telling me that Ash is going to lose this again?

For real? After all that training?

We're gonna win! Now, Aqua Jet, let's go!

[gibberish]

Oshawott! Oshawott!

I say let's finish this up! Watchog, Thunderbolt!

[grunting]

[Oshawott grunting]

- Huh? - Do it!

Huh?

- Oshawott! - Watchog, no!

Watchog..

Oshawott..

Huh? Huh?

Watchog and Oshawott are both unable to battle!

Oshawott's shaky Aqua Jet ended up hitting its target

after it had been struck with Thunderbolt.

It's like two coincidences colliding

and creating an exquisite harmony!

Pokemon Battles are such truly interesting events.

And now Ash and Lenora have one Pokemon each

which means all Ash needs to do is beat Herdier

to win that badge!

Great, Oshawott. You deserve a good rest.

What do you know?

Ash's Oshawott defeated my Watchog

but I'm afraid your luck is not gonna last.

Herdier, let's go!

- Herr, Herr. - Tepig, I choose you!

Tepig.

Alright! Tepig, use Ember!

- Te.. - Protect, quick!

[grunting]

- Tepig. - Tackle, let's go!

Tepig!

[groaning]

Look at Tepig move!

Tepig's risen to a new level of speed and power.

It's satisfying to see how all that training

has really paid off!

Now, Tepig, Tackle once again!

[grunting]

Use Shadow Ball!

[grunting]

[groaning]

Huh. Tepig was up way too close to be able to dodge!

Its faster speed allowed Tepig to come in that close

'but in this case it backfired.'

- Tepig, are you okay? - Tepig.

(Lenora) 'Ash, what a bond you two have.'

'Tepig wants to live up to your expectations'

no matter what

but as the Nacrene Gym Leader, I have expectations, too

to give it all I've got!

Herdier, Giga Impact!

Herr!

Herdier!

[all gasping]

[groaning]

Tepig!

How powerful was that?

Lenora's an incredible Normal-Type Trainer.

She has such a wide variety of moves

along with such a wide variety of styles.

I'm not sure whose side you're on.

- Think about Tepig and Ash. - Hang in there, Tepig.

You can still battle 'cause you're strong.

[grunting]
