You gave Thad Longfellow

Will all due respect,
Madam District Attorney,

This suspect was smart.

After ramming Rodgers'
vehicle into the harbor,

he stripped the blue
truck of all the parts.

Fortunately, we recovered most of them.

Including the steering
wheel with traces of blood.

So, the guy that hit Rodgers
must've banged his head.

SARAH: So, that could
be the perp's blood.

- Did you run DNA?
- It's not in the system,

but I did get a lead on a
potential suspect pool.

An outlaw motorcycle club,
Cain's Disciples, up in Eastborough.

- Where your father is the chief?
- LENA: Yes.

On the day of the attack,

Eastborough PD was
monitoring LUDs and tolls

on the bikers' phones, and ten minutes
before Rodgers was attacked,

a burner that pinged off a
cell tower in Eastborough

called another burner that
pinged off a cell tower in Boston,

near the flower shop
where Rodgers got hit.

So, to me, that's someone
from the motorcycle g*ng

green-lighting the hit on Rodgers.

- That's all circumstantial.

Hi, Lena.

Hey, Chief.

CHRIS: We came as soon as you called.

So we're thinking this attack on Rodgers
has something to do with Eastborough?

Yeah, that's what we're thinking.

Yeah, what could you tell us
about this outlaw biker g*ng?

Scumbags. m*rder. Robbery.

as*ault. But things changed

- How so?

Well, they got smart.
A lot of money started coming in.

- What brought about the change?
- ASHER: No idea,

but we suspect they're trafficking meth.

Meet Eastborough's living nightmare,
Cain's Disciples.

LENA: One of these guys
tried to k*ll Brian.

- I got to find him.
- We have to find him.

No, we got to find him.

You better have a warrant, Chief.

Don't need one.
Billy's fresh out of prison.

- You got to be kidding me.
- Hands where we can see them.

We've got visitors from Boston PD.

They're looking for a
man who was driving

a blue truck in the
city a few months back.

You come in here on a fishing trip?

- Up against the wall.
- You, too.

- LENA: Let's go.
- Come on, you know the drill.

You see the scar on his forehead?

Yeah.

Kind of looks like the
type of scar you may get

banging your head off a steering wheel

after ramming your truck into
a police officer's vehicle.

LENA: That might be our guy right there.

- Let's move in on him.
- DANNY: Not yet.

We pull him out of here in
front of all these guys,

they're gonna know, and they're gonna
do away with him quick.

Come on.

BRIAN: Months, Superintendent.

My union rep says it'll take months

before they can even petition you
to put me back on active duty.

I can't imagine how
hard this is for you,

but it is what's best.

Reconsider my reinstatement. Please.

I need to get back to work.

What you need is more time.

- Sarah, it's me. I'm fine.
- I don't think you are.

You are masking a serious trauma.

Ignoring that only deepens the damage.

I turned down a position with the DEA
because I thought I had a future here.

- You do.
- You sure about that?

Because I passed the
physical and the psych eval.

Yes, but you had a panic attack
triggered by claustrophobia.

- I saw it with my own eyes.
- You were only looking

because Lena told you things
from our private conversation.

Things she had no business sharing.

This is not on Lena.

If you want to blame someone,
Rodgers, blame me.

No, I blame myself,

for expecting the Silvers
to treat me like family.

SEAN: Let's go.

Watch your head.

Can't you just give me a warning?

Not for vandalizing a guy's car, no.

Okay, what if, what if
he wasn't just "a guy"?

What if he was...

you know, a-a client?

Ma'am, are you a sex worker?

I'd rather not incriminate
myself in another crime.

Smart. Would you say that you
are a relaxation therapist?

Which is legal.

Y-Yes, yes. A-And I relaxed
the hell out of that guy,

and he refused to pay me.

So, isn't that, like, theft of services?

Aren't-aren't I the real victim here?

That doesn't make it okay
to Hulk smash the guy's car.

The things that I've done to survive.

This rich prick just rips me off?

I'm sorry, okay? I just lost it.

Is there anything you
guys can do for me?

- Please. (sighs)
- SEAN: Watch your head.

RYAN: Absolutely not.

But, Sarge, the john cheated her.

And he lied to us at the crime scene.

And whose fault is that?

Boys, when you are cops,
nothing is as it first appears.

And yet, you were so
worked up from being chased

by some little puppy that
you failed to ascertain

- what really happened.
- Okay, you're right.

We messed up, but can you
let us make it right?

How? By arresting that
john for solicitation?

Those charges won't stick.

But your working girl?
She's a good collar for vandalism.

So, she's behind bars
while he's walking free?

That's not fair.

I know. You two should
feel terrible about that.

Lesson learned, huh? Now move on.

You know, being raised by
three generations of cops,

I've learned a lot of things.

One being the Reagan standard.

An officer knows he's done
his duty when by the end of tour,

the right people are behind bars.

Well, we failed at that today.

- (keyboard clacking)
- Or did we?

What you got over there?

His name was Brett Keller, right?

Looks like the john's got
some unpaid parking tickets.

DANNY: Jeffrey Viltz,

What makes you think
he's gonna show up here?

- It's Saturday.
- So?

Cain's Disciples always
get barbecue takeout.

Viltz is their prospect,
so he'll pick it up.

And you know this how?

Everybody knows that.

Danny, this is a small town.
This ain't Boston.

- It's not New York, either.
- (chuckles)

Okay, Sarah.

- and Lena Silver.
- Wait.

You're that cop-daughter

- Okay.
- (squishing)

- (straining)
- There we go, there we go.

Is your last name Viltz?

Yeah, I think I've treated your mother.

What's this all about?
Or do I even want to know?

CHRIS: No, but we appreciate your help.

- Anyone see you bring him here?
- No. We came in the back.

You know, Chief,
you may not want to discuss...

No, don't worry, you can trust her.

- JACKIE: Just a little glue...
- She was raised here.

She made it big in the city,
she loves to give back. She's good people.

Look, I get the whole "small town",

"everyone-knows-everyone" thing,

that may work up here,
but could also be detrimental

to the interview.

He's right, Chief.

Your reputation might
keep the kid from talking.

And besides, if you want
something to really brag about,

just watch me and your
daughter work a suspect.

She may be the best
to have ever done it.

What can I say?

- (machinery whirring)
- (overlapping chatter)

Hey, hey, hey, hey. Stop, hey.

That's my car, that's my car.

- You two?
- JONAH: We're impounding your vehicle

until you pay your
overdue parking tickets.

I don't have time for this.

I'm meeting my fiancée's
family for lunch.

- What's really going on?
- You lied.

The woman didn't beat up
your car for no reason.

She's a sex worker you refused to pay,
right?

Hey, hey.
Hey, hey. Keep it down.

- Do you know who I am?
- JONAH: Yeah, you're the guy

- getting his car towed.
- SEAN: But hey, we'd be willing to,

you know, help you out if you do the
right thing, drop the charges on the woman.

You don't give me orders.
I pay your salary.

It's true, but you didn't
pay the sex worker!

Son of a...

Oh!

Big swing there.

Now you're under arrest
for assaulting an officer.

BRETT: This is outrageous.

I was targeted here.

He's right. You two provoked him,
and you were this close to entrapment.

- He took a swing at Sean.
- Who had it coming.

Officers, there are good
collars and bad collars.

Guess which one this is.

Now void the arrest and cut him loose.

- With all due respect, Sarge...
- Respect?

You disobeyed a direct
order to let this go.

Cross me again, Reagan.
You'll regret it.

This is my bad, man.

- This was my idea.
- No, it's all good.

But I've gone one more.

No. Bro. Seriously?

Enough with the Reagan standard.

We are second-year patrol officers.

Is this seriously the
reputation you want for us?

Untrustworthy, undisciplined,
unmanageable?

You know we both have
legacies to protect.

You're right, but there has
to be some kind of justice.

Look, you don't have
to join me on this one.

We're partners.

If you go down, we go down.

Now, what's your idea?

VILTZ: Here's the thing, though.
Cain's Disciples have a motto.

- "Brothers before others."
- DANNY: That's ironic,

considering what Cain
did to his brother,

and what your so-called
brothers did to you.

Yeah. Attempted m*rder of a cop.

They set you up for a life sentence.

They're not your brothers, Jeffrey.

They're not your fathers,
either.

Your dad wasn't around, was he?

Mom, in and out of rehab, too?

You don't start talking to her,
you're gonna die in prison.

Deep calls to the deep.

What the hell does that mean?

It means I see who you really are.

You're not like those other bikers.

They would have made
sure that cop was dead.

Never would've rammed
his SUV into the harbor

- and just took off.
- (scoffs)

I don't know anything about that.

You're not a bad guy, are you?

There's a difference
between a bad person

and a good person who did a bad thing.

You just got in over your head,
didn't you?

Let me pull you out.

You drove the blue truck.

You can admit it now.

I was just supposed to follow the chief,

- take photos.
- (phone buzzing)

Then I got the order to
sh**t that narcotics cop

because they thought he
knew about our meth lab.

I-I couldn't do it.

So, I rammed his SUV into the water.

CHRIS: That barbecue
joint is crawling with bikers.

They know he's missing.

DANNY: Clock is ticking, kid. You give

a sworn statement to the D.A., you get a
reduced sentence and protective custody.

I'm not saying another word until
I'm safe in Boston with a signed deal.

LENA: Give us something
so we know you're serious.

Start with where the
meth lab is, Jeffrey.

Inside the basement of
the self-storage building

- off the highway.
- DANNY: Good job.

Asher, call for a warrant, now.

LENA: Rodgers is gonna be very happy
we closed the loop on this.

CHRIS: Well, it was absolutely critical

- that we found this guy.
- Yeah.

And, uh...

by the way, that was,
that was a great interview.

Thank you, Chief.

Look, I know I haven't earned
"Dad," but, uh...

Maybe you could call me "Chris"?

ASHER: Chief, the judge wants to hear
from you before he grants the warrant.

Yes, sir.

CHRIS: I understand.

You know, you never
answered my question.

Do I regret bringing
my father into my life?

Yeah, that question.

Danny, I don't regret a thing.

Good.

Now can we get this guy to Boston

before these bikers
turn us into roadkill?

Sir, you are free to go.

And to show you how sorry we are,
we brought someone special to pick you up.

- Who?
- Your fiancée.

You threw a punch at this officer?

Uh, this guy's been harassing
me since we first met.

Oh, you mean when we
arrested that sex worker

- for vandalizing your car?
- Sex worker?

Why would a sex...

Brett, did you pay for a hooker?

- Absolutely not.
- SEAN: That's true, actually.

- He didn't pay.
- He stiffed her.

- Pun intended.
- That makes it so much worse.

You are a cheater on so many levels.

- I...
- Me and you are done.

What?

This is for the hooker.

She earned it.

Do you know how expensive that was?

- Baby! Wait, Val...
- I don't think I can take this.

RYAN: Reagan!

My office, now!

SEAN: Sarge, Jonah had
nothing to do with this.

Yeah, I figured as much.
Now remind me, Officer,

what is it that I told you to do?

Void the arrest and send him home,
which is technically what happened.

Yeah, along with a little scene
from Real Housewives of Boston

right in the middle of my station.
Who are you?

Huh? You some kind of smart-a*s cop?

No, Sarge.

I'm the kind of cop
who makes sure by the end of the tour,

the right person ends up behind bars.

Well, congratulations, Officer Reagan.

You're on my list,
which is not where you want to be.

I'm sorry I botched my first impression.

I hope I can make a better second.

Well, until then,
I will be keeping my eye on you.

Dismissed.

Thanks for getting me a deal.

DANNY: Don't flatter yourself, kid.

We didn't do it for you.
We did it for the cop

you almost k*lled,
so his suffering wasn't in vain.

- I'm sorry about that, you know.
- LENA: Are you really?

'Cause if you really want to atone,
then you better do whatever it takes

to take Cain's Disciples down.

Yeah, boss, we're almost there.

Heading over the bridge to HQ.

I'm gonna need reports
on your case ASAP.

The Eastborough operation
got the attention

of some three-letter agencies,

and you know how they
love their paperwork.

DANNY: Why would the Feds be
interested in a small-town

meth-dealing motorcycle g*ng?

I think there's more to it than that...

- (call breaking up)
- Hel...

- (line beeping)
- Lost the signal.

What?

DANNY: What the hell is this?

- (engines revving)
- (truck horn honking)

- It's a trap!
- (tires screeching)

- Damn it!
- (tires screeching)

Dispatch, this is Oscar 803.
Oscar 803, come in.

VILTZ: No, we ain't calling out.

No, the Disciples have
got signal jammers.

How'd they know where to find us?

- I don't know, I don't know.
- Damn it.

LENA: No backup's coming.

Okay. Pop the trunk.

You got our six, I got 12.
Get down and stay down.

Don't do anything stupid.

DANNY: We got to conserve a*mo.

Make every shot count.

Double-tap only.

You got it, partner.

MURDOC: All we want is the kid!

DANNY: Yeah?

Well, all they want
in hell is ice water.

But they ain't getting it.

MURDOC: k*ll 'em all!

DANNY (recorded): This is Danny Reagan.

Please leave a message.

Bobby, what's going on?

g*nshots by the bridge.

Officers taking fire! Move!

Let's go!

- I'm out.
- I'm out, too.

There's an extra mag in the glove box.

- You got any good ideas?
- (glass shatters)

Take out as many as you can.

So, let's go, Brooklyn.

We got this, Beantown.

SARAH: Boston PD! Drop your weapons!

- Police!
- You are surrounded!

Put down your weapons now!

OFFICER: Hands on the back of your head!

Interlock your fingers! Do it now!

- (breathing heavily)
- (siren wails)

DANNY: What are you doing?
Get back in the car.

Get down!

- Lena!
- (g*nshots)

You two okay?

Yeah, we're good, we're good.

- I'm sorry.
- I'm sorry.

- Nice to see you two...
- Come in here.

Thank you.

Hope you're not wasting my time, Mae.

Have you opened the investigation

- into your daughter?
- No.

And I won't be doing that.

I trust my daughter,
and she said she didn't threaten you.

You lied.

That's absurd. How dare you insinuate...

Oh, come on, Thad. Stop.

You hurt my campaign with that photo,

so I did some digging into your family,

and what I have could end your campaign.

But I'm not interested in
looking over my shoulder,

waiting for your next attack.

So you're proposing a deal?

Mm...

Détente.

I'll keep what I have quiet
if you end the dirty politics.

Let's let the voters decide.

Fine.

Agreed.

You have my dad to thank for this offer.

He reminded me that peace
was an option here.

You know, almonds are
in the Book of Jeremiah.

Hmm?

Their trees are the first to bloom,

the last to bear fruit.

God's promise he'll keep his word.

Here's my promise to you.

Come near my family again...

I will end you.

How the hell did Cain's Disciples

know that, A, we had the kid

and, B, we were bringing him here?

Check this out. I dug into
the self-storage business

that the bikers were
using for their meth lab.

It's owned by a shell
corporation in the Caymans.

Pretty sophisticated for
a bunch of lunkheads.

LENA: This gets weirder.

I just dug into the bank records.

Two months ago, a health insurance
company made a payment

to the self-storage
business accidentally.

It was immediately flagged and returned.

- Where was it returned to?
- Let's see.

Eastborough Community Health.

- Jackie's clinic?
- The doc who helped Viltz?

She's involved in this?

LENA: So, the accounting
error was a slip

between her two businesses...
one legal, one criminal.

She's the one who tipped
off Cain's Disciples.

- And I trusted her.
- She had us all fooled, Chief.

Yeah, but you were almost k*lled.

- This is all my fault.
- LENA: No, it's not on you.

It's on the criminal in our sights.

Let's just work together
to take her down.

How does that sound... Chris?

DANNY: We have visitors.

BRIAN: I heard you caught
the guy who tried to k*ll me.

Wish I could've been there, but...

nice work, and thank you.

I'm sorry, this is DEA

Supervisory Special Agent Tony Rushton.

I know you all by reputation.
Nice to finally meet.

Nice to meet you.

What's a Fed doing in our house?

TONY: First of all,
congratulations on all the arrests.

And the meth lab raid,
that was good work.

Dr. Blaylock has been on the
DEA radar for some time now.

That's information that we, uh,
really could've used this morning.

Sorry, it was need-to-know.

"Need-to-know." Okay. Get ready.

- Here it comes.
- TONY: We'll be taking

- the case from here.
- And there it is.

Jurisdictional bogarting at its finest,
courtesy of the Feds.

Let's discuss this handover in my office.

BRIAN: Superintendent.

A word?

I need to make something official.

I'm accepting the offer to join the DEA.

It's been the honor of my life
to serve the people of Boston,

but clearly, I would be
of better use elsewhere.

Good luck, Rodgers.

BRIAN: Working in the same department

was the worst thing for us,

especially with your sister in charge.

And you think moving to
D.C. is the solution?

It's just for the Academy.

After graduation,

I'll be assigned to the
Boston field office.

This is a good thing, Lee, I just...

I need someplace new.

Wherever you go,
your trauma's gonna follow.

Back on that again, huh?

I'm fighting for us.

I'm trying to make this work.
What are you doing?

Being honest with you.
That's what I'm doing.

Because you're in denial.

We have been through so
much together, side by side.

It breaks my heart to see you in denial.

And the deeper you
disappear into yourself,

the further away from me you get.

I can't do it anymore. I can't
keep following you down this path.

You need help.

I want to walk with
you while you get it,

but you got to make that choice, Brian.

Sounds like you're making
the choice for both of us.

I am fine.

I'll always be here for you, Brian.

So, is this, uh...

Goodbye.

Hopefully not forever.

Yeah.

LENA: It was a tough week.

Because of him?

- Brian? Yeah...
- No, your father.

I know you spent a lot of time with him.

How did it go?

Well, I didn't know what to expect
when I went looking for him.

But, uh...

...I'm glad I did.

Lena, I know you once asked
me if I ever considered

what keeping your father
a secret would cost you.

I did consider it.

I thought about it a lot,
I agonized over it.

I really... I really thought
it was the best thing.

Right, yes. Um...

I have heard that before, Mom.

Yes, but what you haven't heard...

...is I'm sorry.

I really... I thought
I was protecting you.

And what happened was that I hurt you.

I never meant to hurt you.

- Can you forgive me?
- I do forgive you, I do.

- (grunts softly)
- (sniffling)

My beautiful girl.

BAEZ: Elena fall back to sleep?

Getting to be a pretty
good stepdad, you know.

And I've been kind of worried sick
since her "grandma" showed up.

She checked out.
She is Elena's grandmother.

Detectives at the 8-5 confirmed.

She babysits her neighbor's kids,
she volunteers at Saint Brigid.

She seems like a good person.

Our lives aren't determined
by how they start,

and she deserves to know
where she came from.

I think we should let Elena
meet her grandmother.

I think you're right.

As usual.

- (laughter and chatter)
- (soft music playing)

Mae, thank you for letting
Elena crash upstairs.

Anytime. This house was made
for the pitter-patter of little feet.

Yeah, well, if one of your children

would just give you a grandchild,

- you'd hear pitter-pattering all the time.
- (overlapping chatter)

- Got to get married first.
- PHOEBE: Well, when Sarah

marries my dad, you'll get me.

- SARAH: I can't wait.
- How was your week, son?

Oh, we had a collar where the...

right guy didn't end up behind bars.

Oh, sounds like the old Reagan standard.

- Funny.
- Sean did make sure

- that justice was served.
- DANNY: Good.

- In a karma sort of way.
- Well, cops find

all different ways to get the job done.

I'm sure you came up with a good one.

Can't wait to hear all about it.
