between the time she came in
and the time she left?

Maybe ten minutes.

Ten minutes?

Not more than that.

Well, let's think
about that a minute.

I dropped her off in front
at five minutes after ten,

so ten minutes later
would make it 10:15,

when you saw her leave.
What'd you do then?

Well, I, uh,

and I went for the sheriff.

That's right.

And to what do I owe
this honor,

the fact that you think
I'm innocent?

That's the only reason,
Julia.

And how did you
decide that?

Well...

for one thing,
I had a little talk

What do you mean?

I'm the expert
at lying, remember?

Julia, if you have

why don't you

So, what are you
gonna do now?

Or do you want time
to think about it again?

Why didn't you tell

Oh... I was going to try
and bluff it through.

But I realized
you'd get the truth,

sooner or later.

You see, I don't

in my ability as

what happened.

Staley told you,

to get rid of her,

or the next time
she tried to sing,

he'd burn the place down.

Tom got mad.

He told Worth
to get out.

Worth started
shoving him around,

and they got into a fight
and Worth stabbed him.

You saw him?

Ross said him and his brother
would help me buy the place

if-- if I forgot
about it.

Just then we heard
Julia Saxon coming in,

and Worth got the idea
of putting the blame on her.

Come on. We're gonna
go see the sheriff.

ROSS: Nick!

You know what Worth did?

I know.

You're not gonna use
that g*n in here.

Folks would hear it.

[g*nsh*t]

You k*lled him!

For a miserable traitor
like Julia Saxon,

you k*lled him!

You all right, Nick?

Yeah, I 'm all right.

I'll get the sheriff.

JARROD: Julia.

I went by the hotel,
but you'd already left.

-Did you get my note?
-Yes, I got your note.

I guess there isn't anything
more to say, is there?

Where are you going, Julia?

Back to the South...

where you said I belong.

Why did you come, Jarrod?

I couldn't let you
leave without...

without telling you how much
I wish things could've
been different.

I wish things could've
been different, too.

-All aboard!
-Good-bye, Jarrod.

Good-bye, Julia.

[whistle blowing]
