So you want to know your first challenge?

Okay. If you ask any designer where they
first fell in love with fashion,

I think one answer comes up more
than any other…

the Disney princess.

[Heidi] The princesses have inspired
so many designers for decades.

And as you know, behind every powerful
princess, there's something lurking.

[Balania] Ooh. [chuckles]

-The Disney villain.
-[Balania] Yes. [chuckles]

Not only were they scary,
but they were fabulously evil.

Okay, designers,
we're in a new home with new rules.

So for your first challenge,
you will be forming fashion houses.

-Whoo!
-Heidi, what are you doing to us?

One house will be House of Princess.

While the other will be
the House of Villains. [laughs]

Villains! Villains! Villains!

[Heidi] Please stand on the side
that your work is on.

-Your house is the House of Princess.

Each house must create
a cohesive collection.

For the very first runway show
at the enchanted United Palace.

to create this look.

You guys have 45 minutes to brainstorm,

to sketch, and then you run off to Mood
to get your fabric.

I am having a moment of PTSD

because my first challenge
in season 19 was a group challenge,

and now I'm in season 21
and it's also a group challenge.

I'm getting hives. I'm sweating,
I'm, like, having panic attacks.

I cannot be eliminated first.

Not again.

[screams, laughs]

-Okay. Okay.
-Here we go, guys. Okay.

Our first challenge is a group challenge,
so we have to sketch

and figure out
what we're gonna have going on

so we can bring
these princess looks to life.

It is game on. Let's go.

What's that one thing that can
thread all the collection?

[Alex] I think it's gonna come down
to the fabric selection.

Fabric.

I definitely got inspired by Ursula and
since I have a delicious,

curvaceous girl as a model,

I wanna do a powerful suit,

fitted all the way below the knee
and then it's gonna go out.

I wanna make sure her body
looks, like, snatched.

I think a villain has a good cape

and if I can switch up the idea
of having a cape, would we like that?

[designers] Yes.

[Ethan] I grew up on a farm.

When I created Utica it was a conduit
for my q*eer artistic energy.

Because back on the farm,
I am the g*y community.

I'm the mayor of Queerville.

I mostly do these one of a kind
bespoke pieces for my community,

but not everybody wants
to ready-to-wear drag outfit,

so I'm worried about that.

It could get too costumey
if I don't do it right.

It has to be cohesive, so we should…

We should think of a theme,
like a color palette.

I work with my brother 24-7, so if I can
win this for myself, it's proving myself.

I'm excited to intimidate
the other designers

and I'm excited to intimidate my brother.

I think color palette
is a great way to do it.

The fabric that I brought from home,
it's literally that fabric,

the butterfly, but it's in pink
and it has orangey tones.

-The butterflies are blue.
-Blue, orange, pink.

So let's have the inspiration
of our collection be butterfly.

-So butterfly.
-Butterfly, yes.

My design point of view
is inspired by historical fashion.

I've owned and operated
my own bridal shop for the last 20 years,

to use basic butterfly fabric.

who's the queen.

I feel like I want brighter.

Antonio's butterfly fabric,
it was pretty cool to me,

but I already knew that I was gonna do
what I wanted to do anyway, so…

princess. But if they don't see it,

I'm gonna play with layers of tulle
that I'm hand pleating.

Her aesthetic is very, um…

loud. And yeah, it's pretty.

My name is VeeJay Floresca.

Aside from being a fashion designer,

I used to be a beauty queen.

Here's my pageant wave.

I was second runner-up
in Project Runway Philippines, season one

and first runner-up in Dress My Tour.

Being in those competitions will help me
to finally win this competition.

No more runner-ups,
but to win the competition.

[Ethan] How's it going, diva?

[Ethan] I can't really
get a read on VeeJay.

This is a team challenge,
and you have to be a little receptive

to other people's critique
and interest in what you're doing.

She really is in her own zone and to us

fell in love with the fabric

that I wanted to use for this challenge.

so I think the engineering has very
heavily influenced my design aesthetic.

And you look at the structure, and
you look at the like silhouettes and so.

I'm gonna create a mean puffer jacket

along with a wrap satin skirt in this
midnight periwinkle upholstery fabric.

People may not
directly relate it to a princess,

but listen, every princess need a jacket.

I'm feeling low-key Tinker bell
for real, for real.

Making these cohesive
is still part of the challenge.

Don't just make a fabulous look for you.

I know you don't wanna listen.

This is a skin situation, but…

I'm just waiting for my model.

It's done because literally, like,

my intern could sew that in 30 minutes.

-My work is more like very futuristic.

To be honest,
I haven't made garment like this before.

For my brand,
I always making ready-to-wear.

It's always very futuristic,
very powerful.

But I'm here to challenge myself.

My inspiration for this look
is from Te Kā.

So I'm making this like
tulle and lace dress

with flowers and veins
growing all over, and with a veil.

Please don't be ugly.

I'm basically doing a powerful coat dress.

For our first challenge,
our designers formed fashion houses.

Two teams of six designers.

Creating cohesive collections inspired
by Disneyprincesses or Disney villains.

Let's start the show.

[Yuchen] I feel so confident. This dress
is really giving a vibe of cool, modern.

-I would walk out of here with that happy.
-Yeah. Yeah.

[Yuchen] I'm telling you,
that girl is a villain.

You can wear it now. It's not so costumey.
I think it's beautiful.

[Angelo] Seeing my look
go down the runway.

I'm really happy and proud of it.

Just to see the scarf dragging

sort of gave it some kind of
sense of elegance and dramatic effect.

[Alex] The shape of my gown
looks so clean and elegant.

I love the way the light hits the velvet.
The collar is exciting.

-It gives drama.
-It's made well too.

[Alex] I couldn't be more pleased

that this is the first piece
that the judges see from me.

[VeeJay] I'm so happy.

She's giving me villain vibe.

The leather is moving.

The pants is well-made,
perfectly tailored for her.

It's, like, I'm so speechless.

[Jesus] I'm pinching myself seeing my look
going down the runway.

It's perfect, chic, and I feel like
she looks like the villain.

[Ethan] This look is the magnum opus
of my mix

between grand and sophisticated.

Look at the detail of the glove.
It's so witchy.

[Ethan] It's harnessing wind,

and it just feels like I have
