- Previously on
"Project Runway"...
-Kelly, congratulations.
You're the winner
of this challenge.
-I am going to
New York Fashion Week.
-Candice, congratulations.
You are moving forward.
-This is probably, for me, the
biggest disappointment from you
this season
-I'm kind of, you know,
surprised
that this is your piece today.
-We all were.
-We all were.
-Ashley, you're in.
You're going to
New York Fashion Week.
-Thank you.
-[sighs]
Edmond, I'm sorry,
that means you're out.
-All right.
This is a shock for me.
I get here to where literally
I can reach out
and touch Fashion Week
and I can look out in the
audience and see my family,
and now I have to
absorb the fact
that there won't be Fashion Week
for me this year.
I'm going home.
You know, the last challenge,
I mean,
I get this close and-- and
I let it slip out of my hand.
-Hi.
-Hi.
-Hello.
-Why aren't there more
emotions in this room?
Because I certainly feel it.
[sighs]
-I don't believe it.
-Yeah, none of us do.
-I feel numb.
I mean, I have to say, Edmond.
Look how far you've come.
Season after season
of auditions.
Final four.
I mean, it's just--
it's something
to be so incredibly proud of.
-I am.
-Well, you're not going
anywhere.
-Oh!
-Ah!
-I'm using the save.
-Thanks, Tim.
I will be showing at New York
Fashion Week and I mean,
I'm so thankful to Tim
for saving me
and just believing in me.
You're too talented.
We have to see more from you.
-Yeah.
-I'm so happy.
-We're all going!
-I know!
-Aah!
-You're all going.
Let's celebrate.
Okay?
-[laughs] I'm going to
New York Fashion Week, baby!
Yes! I'm excited.
-Ah!
-Hello, designers.
all: Hi.
-The final four!
-Yes.
-And I thought it was going
to be the final three.
-Thanks, Tim.
-Edmond, I have to say,
I'm really glad
that Tim used his save
to keep you in the competition.
-Thank you.
I feel like I'm just ready
to get started
and just really blow your mind
with my collection.
-Really, congratulations
to all of you.
You've made it to Fashion Week.
How thrilling is this?
-How do you guys feel?
-Amazing.
-All right, let's get
down to business.
The four of you have seven weeks
before you will be back here
to show your collections,
and you have
a lot of work to do.
We will be giving
each of you $9,000...
-That's insane.
-To create
a ten-look collection.
-And before you know it,
I'm going to be knocking on your
door to check in with you.
-Yay!
-So clean your house.
Tim's coming to town.
-This is the big stage.
This is what you work for
as a designer.
This is it.
-I wish all of you good luck,
and I'm going to see you back
here at New York Fashion Week.
-Yay!
-Bye, guys.
-Work hard, everybody.
First, I'm going to check in
on Ashley in San Diego.
- I'm hoping that Tim
likes where I'm going
with this collection.
I just hope he sees my vision
without actually having pieces
on the rack for him.
-Ashley!
-Hi, Tim.
-How are you?
-Welcome.
-Thank you.
I'm so thrilled to see you.
-You, too.
Thank you for coming out.
-Thank you for having me.
My inspiration is
going back to my heritage,
and I wanted to take Mexico City
in the 1950s and modernize it.
I actually hand-dyed
all the fabrics that I got.
-Oh, good heavens.
-Each one.
-So this was all white,
including the sequins?
-Yes, I want to go back
a little bit more
and just dye these pieces that
weren't-- like, these patches.
-Actually, I rather like them.
It shows the application
of your hand.
-Mm-hmm.
-And that personalizes it
so much more
than if it were perfectly even.
I would like to put
all models in this.
I wanted to have this big
with, like, wavy hair.
-Here's the one...
bit of guidance
I want to give you.
-Mm-hmm.
-They tend to have an
association that's matronly.
-Mm-hmm.
-But I also think that
the fact that you're pushing
at the boundaries of that
is exciting.
-Okay.
-You're not playing it safe.
-No, I don't want to
play it safe at all.
I'm on the right track,
and he loves everything
that I'm doing
from the headpieces
to dyeing my fabric.
I'm just glad that
he appreciates
those little things that
matter the most to me.
We're here.
-Hi.
-Hello.
-Hi.
-How are you?
-We were waiting for you
because you're going to
wear an apron.
-Oh, good. Put me to work.
-You're going to make
tortillas.
-I love it.
-They're the ones that have
been doing all-nighters with me
when I have a big project
due the next day.
To have them here and
to have Tim here at the house,
it's everything.
I'd love to hear from Maria
what Ashley was like as a child
and whether she ever anticipated
that Ashley would be
a fashion designer.
- Si.
- Si, por que?
-[speaking Spanish]
-She say she got-- she's one of
those go-getter, you know?
-And she is.
-I love her so much, she said.
It's beautiful.
-So proud. They're so
proud of me right now.
-And it's too overwhelming
because I never expect this
going to be this big.
-It's big.
-Being able to show the world
who I am as a designer,
it's bringing happiness
to my family.
-So what do you think?
-I'm very excited,
and I'm especially excited
that Ashley wants
to use plus-size models.
-I love it because
we need that.
-I agree.
-I'm a plus size--
-Well, most women are,
you know? Yeah.
For Ashley to be able
to inspire millions of women
who will say,
"I want to look like that,"
I mean, how wonderful is that?
-You have a safe trip.
-Love to everyone.
Thank you so much.
-Thank you very much.
-All righty. Bye bye.
-Bye bye.
- Next, I'm going to check in
on Candice in San Francisco.
- Today, Tim Gunn is going
to visit myself and my family
and introduce Tim to my mom
and my world.
Did you ever think
that this would happen?
-No. But I knew you were
going to be something.
-That's all that's left.
-Don't make me cry
before Tim gets here.
He's going to walk up and we're
all going to be in tears.
-I know. But I am proud of you.
-I know.
-You're doing stuff that a lot
of people only dream of doing.
Oh, my God.
-Oh, there he is.
-Hi.
-This is my mom, Dale.
-So lovely to meet you, Dale.
-I love you. Welcome.
-Thank you so much.
How are you, Perseaus?
How pretty you are.
Hi, Logan.
-Are you going to say hi?
-Are you being shy?
Do you want to have a seat?
-I'd love to.
Dale, I mean, how are you
feeling about all of this?
I mean, what kind of
opportunity is this?
-It's huge for her.
She definitely didn't grow up
with a silver spoon
in her mouth.
So everything she does, she's
worked really, really hard for.
- "Project Runway"
definitely changed me.
I have all these layers to me
that I realized I didn't have.
Emotions that I didn't
experience before.
I've just grown. I've evolved.
-We're going to go look
at your mom's collection.
I'll see you in New York.
-All right, yes.
-I'll let you lead the way.
Well, I can tell this is you.
-It's the understructure
for the finale piece.
-And it lives out here?
-For now it's going to, because
it doesn't fit in my studio.
-Oh.
-I can't wait
to walk him through
the evolution of the collection
and the story.
-What a nice space.
-I hope he sees what I see.
-So what was your inspiration?
-I stayed in New York
for a little while.
I went and saw China: Through
the Looking Glass at the Met,
and so it's very Asian,
Japanese, Chinese-inspired
and I knew I wanted to do
three-dimensional pieces.
-Okay.
-And it took me
along this journey
where I arrived to this piece.
It's real wood.
-So this is around the waist?
-Yep. It's going to sit
on top of her red leather gown.
-This is spectacular.
-I love it.
-All right,
what should we look at next?
-It's a black kimono,
so it's laser-cut leather.
It's a cowhide.
-Can I pick it up?
-Yeah, it's heavy.
But it looks--
-Good God, Candice! Honestly,
with one hand, I can't lift it.
-I feel so mysterious in it.
It's me in a coat.
"Project Runway" has given me
that confidence to experiment
in color and texture and print.
I don't know, I just feel like
I found myself.
-How many yards of this
do you have?
-I bought, I believe,
it was 18 yards.
So this is going to
drape around the cage.
- Wow.
-I want the pieces to grow
and grow and grow,
and then all of a sudden,
it's just like, whoa.
-I'm going to be
a blunt instrument.
With this and the cage...
-Yeah.
-I mean, it's going
full tilt drag queen.
It's the color.
It looks... cheap.
I think you need to
tone it down.
Not look like
you're trying too hard.
Don't lose your critical eye.
- Tim says, step back and edit,
but we're putting on a show
and you only have ten looks.
They better be extravagant.
That's all I'm saying.
[church bells ring]
- I'm going to Springfield,
Massachusetts,
to check in on Kelly.
[door knocks]
-Hi.
-I'm so happy to see you.
How are you?
You look great.
-Come on in.
Thank you. I got my hair done.
-[laughs]
-I haven't slept in two days
because I'm so excited
to see Tim.
Welcome to my studio, Tim.
-Wow.
-How many looks do you have?
-I have ten.
-You have ten done?
-Yeah. Coming home
from the competition,
as much as I just wanted
to, just like,
sit back for a few days
and relax, I was like,
"I didn't come this far
to be, like,
sitting with my a*s
in the wind."
So I'm really inspired by,
like, the '70s sort of style,
so I was thinking Studio 54
meets New Wave street wear.
This was the first piece
I made.
-Okay.
-Craftsman detail,
so I took piping
and piped each one
with a gold and a silver
'cause I really wanted
to mix it,
and I'm obsessed with this wood.
-I also love the wood.
-Before "Project Runway,"
the materials that I used
were, like, yarn.
Like, things that you go get
at, like, the thrift store.
I did all the zipper detail.
-Oh, it's zippers.
-And now that I have
the ability and the budget
to create a collection
that's in my head,
I can now bring it to life,
is exactly what
I've always wanted to do.
I took this piping,
and I did this all by hand.
-Good God.
-The whole front of it. Yeah.
This thing took me,
like, three days.
-It looks sublime.
-Awesome.
And then I made fanny packs
from scratch.
-Oh, my God, I'm thrilled.
-Right when they said
you're going to Fashion Week,
the first thing that clicked
in my head was fanny packs.
Like, if you see the knot
of the wood of the fanny pack,
it matches up with the knot,
you know?
And just imagine, like,
with the headphones,
I just see it, like,
such a cool girl.
What you have here is a show.
-Yeah.
-You have a real show.
-I love that.
I think overall, hearing that
Tim is so in love with it,
it is just blowing my mind.
Are you hungry?
-What do you have in mind?
I used to work at a restaurant
down the street,
so I want to take you.
-Let's go.
-All right.
all: Hi!
-How are you?
-Tim Gunn.
-My mom couldn't be here,
so I'm taking Tim to see
my dad, my cousin, and my aunt.
-Very nice to meet you, Tim.
-Nice to see you.
So, when did Kelly
first start designing
in terms of when it
came into your radar?
-Oh, my God, she was young.
You were always coming up
with different things.
We'd open that door,
Kelly'd come walking in,
and we never knew
what to expect.
-How are you feeling about
New York Fashion Week? I mean...
-We used to joke, we were like,
"Don't get kicked off
the first episode."
And like, now she's here.
Yeah, don't embarrass
the family, yeah.
-Well, she hasn't done that.
-No, not at all.
-All right. Bye, everyone.
-I love you all.
-I love you, too.
I've fallen in love.
-Welcome to the deli.
-Wow.
-This is where I work.
Kelly from the deli.
-Oh, my goodness.
-We made a special sandwich
for you.
-[laughs]
-And he named it for you too.
-Oh, how wonderful.
Thank you.
-And we can wrap this up
for you to take with you.
-I'd love you to. Do you mind?
-Absolutely.
-Rob, this is so lovely.
- Tim has his own sandwich now
that is going to
stay here forever.
It's just, like, so surreal.
It's just out of control.
-I'll see you
at the end of next week.
-Awesome.
-Love you.
-Thank you, Tim.
-Bye.
-Bye.
- Next, I'm going to check in
on Edmond in Atlanta.
-Tim Gunn is coming
to my design studio.
I'm anxious.
I'm nervous.
I really want to impress Tim
because he did save me.
-Edmond.
-Hello, Tim.
-How are you?
-I'm good, how are you doing?
-Nice to see you.
-You too, man. Come on in.
-Well, tell me
about your vision first.
-What I want to incorporate is
the glamorous side of fashion.
The luxurious side of fashion,
and I really want to make
the most powerful impact
and statement that I can.
-I tried out 13 times
for "Project Runway."
I was so passionate
and so driven.
Just staying focused
and staying positive
and keeping the faith.
This material here,
I love the volume of it.
-Mm-hmm.
-And the flow.
-I agree.
This will be my finale piece.
I've always wanted to do
a gigantic black gown.
It will be something that
definitely you can wear
to the Met ball, and that's
one of my goals in life.
I want to dress someone
for the Met.
-Use it. Go big.
Definitely.
-Okay.
-I'm going to tell you
something.
These pieces with this ease
and this flow,
for me this is the direction
you need to go in,
and I would beat back
the architecture.
But you have
a lot of work to do.
You basically have to
execute one look a day.
-Yes.
-Between now and when you ship,
and that's a lot.
So I've got to k*ll it.
Like, literally, I've got
to show up and show out.
How proud are you?
-Man. Very proud.
-Very proud, very proud.
-Very proud.
-I mean, I knew he was
going to take it to a level
of what he was doing, you know,
never knew it would
get this far,
but he talked about this
and talked about this
for so many years, you know?
-And auditioned a lot.
-Yeah.
Even when you
sometimes do things
and people don't
believe in you, you know,
you can easily go astray,
but uh, he learned a lot.
I'm proud of you. Whatever.
- Where I come from, saying you
want to be a fashion designer
is like saying you
want to be an astronaut
or saying you want to be the
President of the United States.
Like, it's something
so different and so unique,
yet and still, it's in my DNA.
It's who I am.
I mean, I just feel like, "Yo,
this is what I'm put here for."
And everything he's done,
and everything that he's about
to do. I just wish him the best.
-Thank you. Appreciate it.
For sure.
To your success at Fashion Week.
-All right.
-Thank you.
- Feels great to be back.
I just feel like
I belong in New York.
Holy crap.
-Hi.
-Hello.
-Hello.
-Hi, how are you?
-Hi.
-Hi, what's up?
-Good to see you.
-Look at this, look at this.
-I baked--
-Hold on, the drinks.
[laughter and chatter]
-There's a note.
-Okay, so, "Hi, designers.
Welcome back to New York.
"We've missed you. You should
all be proud of yourselves.
"You made it
to New York Fashion Week.
We'll see you soon.
Hugs and kisses. Heidi and Tim."
-Yay!
all: Whoo!
-Cheers.
-Cheers.
-So did you guys ever think we
would be doing this right now?
-Uh, no.
-What do you think
it's going to feel like,
that moment when you
step out on that runway
and you look
and see all those people,
and you introduce
this collection
that you've worked so hard on?
-It's going to, like,
blow my mind.
-You already know
what's going to happen to me.
I'm just going to
burst into tears.
-Bye, Felicia.
-Bye, Felicia.
-Ah. Wow.
-Oh, my gosh.
- Walking into the work room
today, you know,
seeing my garments on the rack,
you can reach out and almost
touch, you know, or feel
being there at Fashion Week.
-We're all so quiet.
-Everybody's quiet, right?
I'm just, like, ready to go.
I'm game.
I'm going to get to work.
[laughs] I got a lot to do.
-No playtime?
-No, no playtime.
Not right now.
-It is so nerve-wracking, like,
taking all your pieces out.
- You would think that we
would all run over
to each other's collections,
but there is now tension
between us four.
Where can I even put this?
-I would say my biggest
competition at this point
would be Candice.
What's this thing?
-It's a vest.
- And I think it's because
of her big "wow" pieces.
It's going to be cool to see.
-And it's two tiers.
-Serious business.
-Yeah.
-Candice's collection, there's
wood pieces, there's leather,
there's all this volume, and
there's a hat. She made a hat.
It's a little intimidating.
I don't know if I even want
to look at it right now.
-Wow.
-Hi.
-Hey.
-Hi.
-Hello, Tim.
-Good morning,
season 14 finalists.
-Yeah.
-I'm thrilled to see
all of you. How is everyone?
-Amazing.
It's going to be
an extremely busy week.
I mean, it's New York Fashion
Week. How thrilling is this?
-Awesome.
-Your first challenge,
though...
-What?
-Is to select three looks
to present to the judges
for their feedback,
and in my experience
it has benefitted
every single solitary designer
in the history
of "Project Runway."
-Okay.
-All right, so three looks,
and one of those looks
will be created
today.
A brand-spanking-new look.
-Of course.
The last thing I want to do
is make this new piece.
I'm going to explode right now.
-All right, can I tell you
something?
It's an opportunity to replace
a look if you choose.
It has in some cases even been
the strongest piece
of the collection.
I'm going to give you 30 minutes
to sketch this new look.
Then we're going to Mood
where you will have a budget
of $250, okay?
And you can spend that $250
on anything that will enhance
the collection, all right?
I'll be back.
-Thanks.
-[laughs]
Your face.
-Ah.
-Impossible.
You have to design a look
that's going to go with
the whole collection,
but the two looks that
you're also going to show,
so it's like a mini
cohesive collection.
-Hi.
-All right, final four.
Let's head off to Mood.
All right.
Head on out, everyone.
-I feel like a silk satin.
-I don't know how many yards,
but I'm going to
need some of this.
-Kelly, is that
a collection fanny pack?
-It's an extra.
I had to get the sparkly one.
-Okay, let's do five and five.
Tim told me he would like more
jewel tones in my collection,
and I find this really pretty
eggplant purple fabric,
and I think this will definitely
pop with the pastels.
-I can't find
a black invisible zipper.
-Oh, they're gone.
I got the last one.
-Oh, [bleep].
-Last one.
-Edmond wants
to fight right now.
-I didn't do it.
-Designers, you have
one minute remaining
and the only person
I don't see is Edmond.
Edmond?
-Thanks.
-Time is up. I hear him.
He's running.
-You're at 395.
-You're going to have to get
$150 out of this.
-I-- yeah, we gotta put
a lot of stuff back. Okay.
I need this stuff
to complete my look
and do the exact vision
that I want.
What else is expensive in here?
So, I mean,
I gotta make it work.
-It's actually really nice
to come back to a room
full of, like,
a giant collection.
-Those zippers I put back,
I needed.
Let's get to work.
- When Edmond unpacks,
it's a black and white dress
and it looks adorable,
and it has drama to it.
Oh, my God. Shut up.
I knew his a*s
was going to bring it.
That's really striking, too.
For this additional look,
I'm going to be making a
one-sleeved, very contoured,
form-fitted dress that has
this, like, ruffle effect.
I know that I have a lot to do
still on the rest of the looks.
-♪ This is gonna take forever ♪
For my piece I'm making today,
I want to do a long dress
and then have all this
piping detail on the side.
My collection, it's all about,
like, small detail.
Yeah.
-Looks really cool.
-Thank you. And you never
give complements.
-What are you talking about?
-Well I mean, like,
when you say it, you mean it.
-Oh. I was like, "That makes me
sound like a b*tch."
-Edmond doesn't give
complements either.
-Yes, I do.
-[laughs]
-Wow, that's what you want?
The wow effect.
-Kelly really doesn't. b*tch.
-[laughs]
That is sick.
And that's a complement.
-My inspiration
for this collection
is Mexico City in the 1950s.
-First, let's start with
Mary Kay Luminous Foundation
in Bronze One.
-This color
is called Shy Blush.
It will give a bit of texture.
You look beautiful.
-I want to catch sort of,
like, the '70s vibe.
I have a lot of jumpsuits
with, like, bell bottoms.
-We can start from
a gold, silver,
to almost like
a pink eyeliner inside
and then cheek is Juicy Guava.
-Awesome.
-I love it.
-Beauty, glamour, and sexiness.
We can use this to give you
that really amazing glow.
-Exactly what I want.
I knew I was in good hands.
-It's a little bit
avant-garde, Asian-inspired.
As far as the eyeliner, it can
go thicker and then really out.
When we think of the red lip, I
think just a real scarlet red.
-Yeah.
-That's called Really Red
for a reason.
Look at that.
-I love that.
-Hi, Tim.
-Kelly.
-Hi.
-So what are you showing
the judges tomorrow?
-I'm thinking these three.
-Okay.
-And I think I want to show
them the fanny pack thing
even though I wanted to
keep it a surprise.
-Just show one.
-Show one, that's
what I'm doing, yeah.
-This is so you.
-I actually really like
this look.
I think it'll give a good feel
of what my collection
is all about.
-It does.
-I mean, I love it.
-I love your print mixing.
-And then this one
I'm working on--
-This is the new one?
-Yeah.
I really like this print.
-Did you use this print before?
-Yeah. And I wanted to use
a little more of it, so--
-Okay.
-I'm just mixing the piping
and the zippers, and then it'll
be open here and here.
-Okay, the only thing I want to
say to you is, from the side,
-it's an odd proportion
relative to the hem.
-Okay.
-You may want it to be
shorter than the floor.
-I was kind of thinking
it would be, like,
right below the knee
or something.
-Consider it.
-Yeah.
-Thank you, Kelly.
Talk to me.
-Three pieces that I'm showing,
I feel like I am giving somewhat
a feel of the actual collection.
-Mm-hmm, good.
-My collection is
very light and airy.
-I don't see what's light
and airy about this.
This looks buoyant,
effervescent,
without even touching it.
-Okay.
-This has a very
different impact.
This just feels more severe.
-So what is the new look
you're creating?
-The new look will be
created in this.
-It's going to be white?
-Yes.
-Okay.
-It's going to be white and
it's going to be a wrap gown.
-Okay.
-This is somewhat
the actual effect of it.
-What's this?
-A ruffle edge.
This looks very ambitious.
And that concerns me.
It's your decision to make,
but you have a lot of work to do
between now and tomorrow.
A huge amount.
Start cutting.
-So Candice, speak to me.
-I think the judges are
going to be extremely surprised
that I have print and color
in my collection.
-You are reading my mind.
They are going to be,
because these three looks
don't include any of that.
-Yeah.
-I really want to put the pant
and the corset in place of this.
-Why aren't you?
-I guess I wasn't thinking.
-What's going
through your head?
I mean, as far
as I'm concerned,
you have to put one of them in.
-I definitely can fix that.
-All right, the new look,
which looks so...
-Me?
-Yeah.
-I wanted it to be cohesive
and I really did fall in love
with the lines that I used
during the red carpet challenge,
and it goes deep in the back.
-Beautiful.
-And that's that awful
candy fabric that I sprayed.
-That has a delicacy that is
such a wonderful counterpoint
to the toughness of the leather.
-Yeah. I feel like this
collection couldn't be more me.
-I agree with you, 1,000%.
Beautiful.
-Thanks, Tim.
-How's Ashley?
-Good.
-This is the new look?
-This is the new look.
-Wow.
-I wanted to go with
something form-fitting
that I haven't really played up
in the collection besides this,
that I showed you back
at the home visit.
And I just wanted to show more
variety in this collection
and still go with the theme
of Mexico City in the 1950s.
-Do you plan on showing
a headdress on each model?
-Yeah, 'cause that's
the whole collection.
-Okay.
-But I-- I'm a little bit
scared that they might say,
"Don't use it," when I'm like...
-This is my thought about it.
-Yeah.
-You're so wedded to these and
they're so important to you.
I don't want this to be
a stubbornness issue
where it's like, "Screw them,
I'm going to show all ten,"
because you want to win.
-Yeah.
-So, I would use
one or possibly two
and get their feedback.
-Okay.
-All right, designers.
I'm excited about
the presentation
to the judges tomorrow
and I know that you are, too.
You still have
a lot of work to do.
You have until
and I will see you tomorrow.
-Thank you, Tim.
-Thank you.
-Bye.
-Hi.
-How are you?
-You like this one?
Wanna wear this one?
-Can you see?
-I think I am going to make
the top a little bit longer.
It needs to be form-fitting.
-Is that your finale?
-Yep.
-[bleep] fierce.
-Ooh, this is heavy.
-Cool.
-Bye.
-Bye.
Running out of time.
-Okay, you guys.
It's time to go.
[door opens]
- It is getting super serious
in this room.
Nobody's talking to anybody.
We're like, super focused
on what we need to do.
-Is that your finale one
right down there?
-Maybe it could be.
-Starting to warm up in here.
- We're in it to win it now.
Like, I'm not going to
tell you about my piece
because you don't need to know.
Like, there's not going to be
any more helping each other
at this point because
we're just all in our own zone.
-Hi.
-Good morning, everyone.
How are you?
-Good morning, Tim.
-Good morning.
-Your models are
coming in soon.
You will have 30 minutes
with them,
then all of them will go
to the Sally Beauty Studio
and the Mary Kay
Color Design Studio.
Remember that
the JustFab Accessories Wall
is here for you, too.
All right, your models
will come in soon.
-Okay, thanks Tim.
-Hi.
-Hi. How are you guys?
-I'm gonna give you this one.
Yeah, you have to
wear a headpiece.
I decide I'm just going
to go with it.
I'm going to put all three
models in each headpiece.
I just feel like it's
the right thing to do.
-It's Asian-inspired.
We kept her part
and then pulled it back.
-Just go for the super
samurai-inspired chignon.
-We can blow this back and
smooth and just [blows].
We'll make it beautiful
in the Sally Beauty Studio.
-I definitely wanted to do,
like, a pin wave.
-This wave is more
loose and soft.
-Yes.
-So I would just
pin curl this up.
I've used 3/4 iron just to
really lock it in and set it
so that all of your models
are going to have
this beautiful little
finger wave.
-Exactly.
-Okay.
That's what happens
in the Sally Beauty Studio.
-I want to do Studio 54,
shimmer and like, a nude lip.
-We'll make sure to have
the silver
right in the middle of the eye
to catch attention like that.
-Cool, she's glowing.
I couldn't be happier.
-I am looking for
the wow effect.
-That skin has
a certain shimmer.
Her eyes look bright and open
and you're going to be like,
"Wow, they look like
beautiful girls."
-And that's what I want,
that wow.
- Yeah, designer Edmond.
-I'm going to grab some white
thread and I'll be right back.
Great. [bleep].
This looks wonderful on you.
- Looking over
at Candice's collection,
I think it's amazing.
Everything is well made,
it's totally Candice,
she's definitely going to
put up a good fight.
-All right,
designers and models,
we are going down to the runway.
-At this point, if it's not me,
I definitely think
Kelly's got this competition
in the bag.
-Thank you, everyone.
- The winner of "Project Runway"
will receive

Welcome back to New York
and to the runway.
All right, here's
what's happening today.
Each of you is showing us three
looks from your collection.
It is a little preview
that will allow us
to give you some feedback
before your show
on the world's fashion stage
at New York Fashion Week.
And you know how
I love a little twist.
So one of today's looks
you made yesterday.
And how did it work out?
-For the best.
-Yeah.
-It usually does work out,
doesn't it?
-Yeah.
-Because it's make it work
time, right Tim Gunn?
-It is, Heidi. That's true.
-Make it work.
All right, let's say
hello to our judges.
First, we have creative director
of Brooks Brothers Women
and fashion designer Zac Posen.
-Welcome to New York
Fashion Week, designers.
Game on.
-Creative director for "Marie
Claire" magazine, Nina Garcia.
-Hi, designers.
Welcome to the big time.
-Ha, thank you.
-Also, we have Tim Gunn
here for the runway show.
As you know, he is your mentor
and will not be
judging your looks.
All right, let's start the show.
[dance music]
- I have a really
strong collection.
There's an attitude to it
and I just hope that
the judges get the attitude.
Just enough to make them
want a little bit more
and then wow them
with everything else.
-I like the lining
in the jacket.
-I love the dress
that I created in a day.
It's mysterious
but it's also inviting,
and I'm quite proud of myself.
Although I feel like
it's a cohesive line,
it's like a song, so not
every verse is the same.
I don't really think
there's one entire look
that's the weakest.
The head piece came out nice.
I hope the judges feel
every single piece
that walks down that runway.
- Presenting to the judges,
I honestly feel amazing.
Through this whole competition,
I felt like I was myself,
and what I'm showing to the
judges is me times a thousand.
It's an elevated version of me,
and I hope they see
what I'm going for.
-That shoe is sick.
It balances out
with the headset.
When I see my three looks
down the runway,
I couldn't be happier.
It captures me, it's who I am,
it puts a smile on your face,
and I love it.
I wouldn't change anything.
I like the back of that shirt.
It's like, one of my favorites.
- I feel like I've shown sexy
in the past challenges,
but with this new look, I want
to magnify some other things.
-Very elegant, Edmond.
-Thank you.
I want to really incorporate
a glamorous, elegant,
high-fashion world
of imagination.
I'm pushing forward
with a lot of elements
that I've not shown.
-That's neoprene too, right?
-No. That's scuba.
-Scuba.
- When I watch my three looks,
I feel really good about it.
This look is one of
my stronger looks.
I feel confident. I feel that
it's a cohesive collection.
This is an elevated version
of Edmond Newton.
-For my first look
with the lace crop top
and the pencil skirt,
I didn't have enough time
to make a bandeau bra.
I just have a feeling that the
judges are going to call me out
for exposing the bra.
All right.
- Watching my new look
come down the runway,
I literally want to cry,
but I'm holding it together
because I accomplished
what I said I was going to do.
-What material is that skirt?
-It's like, a quilted fabric
and it was white. I dyed it.
I just have no idea
how the judges are going to
receive this collection
so I'm just nervous.
-Tim is going to
stay here with us
while we talk to each and every
one of you about your looks.
-Are you guys nervous?
-Oh, no.
-Yeah?
-Yeah.
-But you got here.
-It's good-nervous.
-Yeah.
-Yeah.
-All right, Edmond,
let's bring out your models.
Edmond, tell us about your looks
and how they represent
your collection.
-The three looks that I have,
I really wanted to make sure
that I included
three elements which were
glamour, beauty, and sexiness.
-Which look did you
make yesterday?
The one closest to you.
-Yes.
-You can tell. I mean, they are
so elaborate, the other two,
that couldn't have
done that in a day.
-I'm a little bit worried
about your inspiration point.
If I had to pull a theme
away from the three looks
that I saw today,
it would be ruffle.
Trim and ruffle.
I actually like the look
that you made yesterday.
I like the modernity of it.
First look, I find it
a little bit costume-y.
You gotta give it some of
your, like, your attitude.
I mean, you're in
combat boots, fatigue,
you've got to bring that kind
of attitude into the looks.
-Will do.
My personal favorite
is the one in the middle.
I love the silhouette.
It is a wow piece.
So many beautiful details.
Will you also turn around?
It just looks modern,
but it's elegant
and it has that little
black piece in the middle.
To me, this is a show-stopper.
If everything is more
along those lines,
I think then you're spot-on.
I agree with Zac. The first one
is a little costume-y.
It might be this ruffle thing.
Like, you do try to do those
ruffle little bit everywhere.
You don't have to feel
like every piece
needs to have
some kind of a ruffle.
-This is surprising to me,
because the sense that I get
from you as a designer
is that you always
like the sexiness.
-Mm-hmm.
-However, this isn't sexy.
You're presenting
a very pretty collection.
It's very ladylike, we've got
a Victorian-inspired dress here,
then we've got the bow
and it's very sweet.
The hair and the makeup
really throw me off.
It's just too conservative.
It's too classic.
I need her to be
a little more streamlined,
a little more edgy,
a little cooler.
How is this girl modern?
How is this girl Edmond?
Why are you not being you?
-I wanted to show something
a little different
and incorporate the element
of beauty,
and I know the element
of sexiness
and I didn't want it
to be where, like--
-But that's you.
-Okay.
-Kelly, tell us
about your looks
and how they represent
your collection.
-This was the look
I made yesterday,
and my collection is inspired by
introducing Studio 54
to new wave street wear.
I consider myself
an eclectic designer.
Mixing sort of things you
wouldn't normally see together,
but I wanted to keep it
fun and just very me.
-[sighs] I have a really
hard time with this, Kelly.
I was thinking,
"Which one was the look
that she made in a day?"
'Cause to me, they all look
like you made them in a day
to be quite honest.
You had a lot of time
and how much money
did you have to spend?
-9,000.
-$9,000?
-Did you spend it all?
-Mm-hmm.
-I feel like the fabric
that you used, to me,
does not look like
you spent $9,000.
To me, this looks like
a young collection
that you get
really inexpensively
at stores right now.
The only thing that
I see how you can fix this
is by going fully over the top,
-What is this,
a fanny pack that she has?
-I thought I would
throw it out.
-I don't have anything
against the fanny pack,
but in this brown, it looks
like grandma fanny pack.
-Give her the sparkly one
you're wearing.
-But also, not with like,
a black band.
Like, do it in a crazy color.
Like, really go for it,
because otherwise,
it's going to be a snooze fest.
-The good is,
that you have many pieces.
You have the top,
the shorts, pant,
I also think the hair and makeup
is kind of great.
The not so good, there is
really no sense of luxury
in any of these pieces.
The shorts-- can you
turn to the side?
Are ill-fitting.
I don't really understand
why they're high-waisted
and then they have this pocket.
Also communicates that
this is not really expensive.
There's something very
throw-away about these clothes.
-I can give more.
I know I can do it.
So, um, I'm excited.
-Thank you, Kelly.
-Thank you.
-Thank you, models.
You can leave the runway.
-Ashley, tell us
about your looks
and how they represent
your collection.
I was inspired by Mexico City
in the 1950s
and I really wanted to
play with color
and all the lace
has been hand-dyed.
-Because you're doing this
new message
and you want to bring this
to the frontline,
the fit has to be impeccable.
-Okay.
-The crop top on that dress,
it really doesn't fit well.
I mean, I want these girls
to feel seductive,
supported, and hot.
The zipper detail on that skirt
looks like it's driving
through the Rocky Mountain.
It's bubbling, but also
on the back of this lace top,
it felt a little sloppy.
Or if she is going to have
her bra exposed,
make it look like
an intentional bra.
Build the lace textures
into there
and have that texture
come through.
You know, and it's
those fine details
that are going to
make this, like,
a knock-out hit because
I think the potential is here.
When I see this collection
and I see this very
feminine silhouette,
I think immediately of you.
When I saw the flowers
I was like, "That's Ashley,"
and your collection should be
very reflective of you.
What I am missing is
the attention to details.
The center girl, for example.
Her zipper seems to be
a little wavy.
The other thing that I'm missing
is, you're a colorist.
You love prints.
-Yes.
-I'm kind of missing that,
because right here
it feels like one note.
I know it's the lace,
but it seems a little
mother of the bride.
You do prints very well,
and you do color very well,
and it should be
represented somehow here.
I love the hair and makeup.
I don't know if all the girls
are carrying the flower crowns,
but maybe you should think about
not all of them wearing it.
Are they all carrying
the crowns?
-I would like to, because each
crown is very, very different
and they all pull
a different color out
and it makes the whole outfit.
-I don't know. I disagree.
I don't really think
you need the crown
in every single solitary look.
-Be careful of styling tricks
is what she's saying.
-Yes. Exactly.
They don't need to
take a life of their own.
-Thank you, Ashley.
-Thank you.
-Thank you, models.
You can leave the runway.
-Candice, tell us
about your looks
and how they represent
your collection.
-Well, for my collection
this season,
it's very Asian-inspired.
For the first look, it's red.
There's silk and leather.
The next look
I created yesterday.
I did add the hat only to
introduce the wood element.
-It looks like costume town.
-Don't want to be costume.
-It can go a little
witchy bitchy.
-[nervous laughter]
-This middle look with the hat,
it's giving me, like,
gothic ascot.
-I have a hard time with
this as well, I have to say.
It is all over the place.
I feel like I'm looking at
many different runway shows.
Individually, I think you have
some beautiful pieces,
because if you look at
this coat, it is beautiful.
If you look at this dress,
it's beautiful.
But why would the hat--
why with the gloves?
You know, there's
too many question marks.
Then there are all of these
weird, long eyebrows.
You're trying to be edgy.
Really, you're putting
all the clichés
of what people who
are not in fashion
think a fashion show
should look like.
You piled it all in.
-I don't know where the story
goes to at the end.
-You have a lot of work to do.
Make it work.
This is season 14 and we have
seen people do this.
In two days, you can do it.
Blow our mind.
This is your opportunity.
This is New York Fashion Week.
But I do want to be clear.
There are two days left,
and this is anyone's
competition to win.
-So one quick note
for each of you.
Edmond, sex it up.
-Okay.
-Be Edmond.
Kelly.
Just go for it. Amp it up.
-Okay.
-Ashley, focus on detail.
And fit is so important for you.
-Yes.
-Candice, tone it down.
Especially on your styling.
Be you.
We want you guys.
Your inspiration, your ideas.
Give it to us.
That's why you're here.
You got it?
-Yep.
-Yes.
-All right, you have
a lot of work to do.
Good luck. Get off this runway.
Go, go, go. See you at
New York Fashion Week, guys.
-Bye.
-Thank you.
- Next time on "Project Runway."
-I can't hold back anything.
I have to give it everything.
-Why the indecisiveness?
-I never thought that
I would be in this position.
-Candice and Edmond, they've
got to take their collection
in a whole different direction.
-Shut up!
-Oh, my gosh.
-New York's Fashion Week.
-Whoo!
-I've been waiting for this
my whole life.
-The bottom, it's scooched up.
-Oh.
-Zorana, can you walk?
-Oh, no, no, no, wait, wait.
-How did this happen?
-I'm definitely freaking out
at this point.
-We are walking!
[cheers and applause]
-Designers, one of you will be
the winner of "Project Runway."
