I took the baseball pants
and used the stripe--

For the collar?

- Because he has it,
so we wanted to break it up

A little bit.

- So what’s happening

- This is gonna be
a jersey stripe with the mesh,

And then it goes down further.

Turtle neck, razor back.

I shifted the panel at the back
into blue.

- I feel like everybody else
got a lot of fabric.

- Yeah.
- We did not.

- So we pulled inspiration
actually from that painting,

The black and white colors,
the yeti on it.

- I’m making the deduction
that the piece in the middle

- Yeah.

- There’s gonna be, like,
a pretty straightforward

Faux fur coat.
- A vest.

We’re mixing it with white
denim and the fur.

- Where’s it going?
- Uh, with the fur.

We’re gonna make stripes
going across.

- Wow. This is a lot of look,
guys. It’s a lot.

- One of the looks,
we took apart ba*ls.

We made it into, almost like
a honeycomb skirt.

- We made the b*mber
out of the fur.

We quilted it--this is actually
from a throw pillow.

- I think she looks
like a teenage hooker.

I just don’t want you all
to be labeled as

Coming from the amateur hour.

There are only six of you

move into a complete

Different total direction.

Using the fabric
we bought at mood,

We’re making pants out of
that and just a crop top.

The soccer ball skirt,
we’re actually turning it

Into a strapless dress.

- And then that tablecloth
being impossible to work with,

I figure, "what if we
put no seams in it at all

And just create a giant skirt?"

Kini comes back
in with the skirt,

And it is exactly
how I envisioned it.

Look at that.

I think it’s absolutely
incredible.

Each pair was to create
two cohesive looks,

But then we put a little twist
on things.

a third cohesive look,

Using mostly fabric.

collection

This real sporty vibe.

- She’s trying to be graceful,
but the mesh, you know,

At the bottom of her leg,

fittingness of the skirt,

It’s kind of hard
for her to walk.

- She has to walk very slowly,
but I think that the effect

Of it is so cool.

It’s like evening sportswear.
If anything, it gets people

Talking.

I’m happy with it.

It’s a really strong
color palette, really clean.

I’m hoping the judges
can look past the lampshade

And see the conceptual idea
of it.

- Hopefully, the judges
will appreciate our editing.

We didn’t have to go overboard
to use unconventional pieces

And still make a statement.

- I love the sweater.
I love the knit.

I love the colors.

I would wear this walking
down the street.

- I love my look,
especially the vest.

It looks really pretty.

I feel like it
definitely has cohesion.

the cape moves.

Everything fits perfectly,
and she just looks really

We were really lucky
with the units that we got.

- One of our containers
only contained a moving blanket,

And the other one
had quite a lot of,

Like, hunting and
fishing inspired things.

We wanted to do
sleek sportswear,

And I did the blanket jacket.

I also did the lampshade dress.

- And, charketa,
so you did the middle look?

- Yes.
- Definitely cohesion here.

The middle outfit for me,
I felt like it’s a girl

Who’d been partying all night.

It didn’t feel as sophisticated
as the other two looks.

Looked like a walk of shame.
It’s hoochie.

I mean, that girl
knows how to twerk for sure.

She’s twerking her way home.

- I do think your quilted coat
is really beautiful,

But all of these cutout
mesh dresses,

They’re in every retailer
on the planet.

It’s kind of a bit done.

- I can’t believe you can’t
walk; you cannot walk?

- Just makes a clicky-clack.

- But that doesn’t matter.

- I would’ve left it down and

I could care less
about this transparency.

They just look so dated between
the red lipstick and the hats.

I did think
there was a fur coat.

- But they made
this from scratch.

- When you break it all down,
it’s kind of fabulous.

Once we’re given an hour,

My wheels immediately
start turning.

So I know that I want to make
something form-fitted,

Stretchy knit ’cause
it’s really easy to work with,

And it definitely represents me
as a designer.

- I want to do, like, a super,
ultramodern--maybe

Just a simple dress.

And i’ll pipe it
around the edges with the green.

Because of nina’s comment about
the folksy, southwest print,

I definitely want to do
something graphic and modern.

- I’m making a 16-piece
patterned dress,

Which is kind of crazy
in this moment,

But I don’t really
have any other options

Because I want something fitted.

So I immediately start
patterning like a madwoman.

- This is psychotic.

- I look up, and I see a blue
dress going on their dress form,

And i’m still patterning
my look,

So i’m kind of wondering how
they got that done so fast.

something interesting
