Create voluminous butterfly

Mascara, with breakthrough

Technology to bring fanned-out,

Fluttering volume to everyone's

Eyes.

So as you've probably

Guessed, butterflies are the

Source of inspiration for this

Challenge, and you will be

Creating a look that's

Avant-garde.

That means experimental.

It means daring.

It means cutting-edge.

This is the l'oreal paris

Makeup challenge, so the makeup

Look will be very, very

Important to your overall look.

And billy, of course, is going

To be your consultant for that

Look.

You have two days for this

Challenge.

You will have 30 minutes to

Sketch, and when you're through

These butterflies have a

It's sad, I thought, something

So beautiful gets to live for

Such a short, short time.

I am going to use the sadness,

Sort of an emotional

Perspective, to create an

Avant-garde look.

Silently, so I'd rather look at

The butterflies than look at my

Sketchpad.

Cool to just do a pop, because

I saw, on the butterfly, there'd

Be a pop of white.

With the voluminous butterfly

Mascara, like, winged-out

Effect with her lash.

I do think it'd be kind of

Cool to make her nails dark to

An iridescent blue.

We can create an ombre effect

From lighter blue to dark blue.

That could be amazing.

They do.

So I took from that the idea

Of maybe cross-breeding with my

Textiles.

I love the idea.

Then, underneath, I'm going

To do a "jumpsuit," just either

Doing it all in the ivory or

Doing it in another print,

Which, I don't know if that's,
like, overkill.

Cross-breeding is barely

Noticeable.

Having the chance to mix these

Textiles and experiment with

Something a little bit more

Edgier and kind of quirky.

And I really can't wait to push

That even further, and I really

Hope I get to do that at fashion

It was an absolute

Transformation, and I made

Something super cool, and I'm

Really proud of it.

I feel so confident about my

Dress, and whether the judges

Like it or not, I do, and it's

An amazing feeling to have.

That looks sick!

I am really impressed with

How much work I put in in such

Little time.

But I feel like I really missed

The mark on this challenge.

I'm hoping that the color speaks

In some sort of avant-garde way.

For the avant-garde look, I

Really like the transformation

From the beginning to the end,

It's beautiful, it's strange,

It's unexplainable, and it has

That movement of the butterflies

Around in your peripheral

Vision.

I didn't know what the shape of

This garment was going to be.

I just knew what impact I wanted

It to have, and I actually did

That.

I can't believe it.

My transformational look

Looks really great.

It's a complete change from the

Original concept that jeremy

Had, but the colors and the

Pattern is still somehow

Incorporated, and it looks

Great.

She looks so fierce, and it's

Not soccer mom.

Jeremy is going to [bleep]

His pants when he sees this.

I feel so proud of--of what

I knocked out.

She looks like a rock star.

Those pants fit like a glove.

That ain't no poopy pant!

She looks beautiful.

She's selling it.

The skirt looks absolutely

Beautiful, and it's still got

Elements from the original

Concept.

I want them to take the look

Seriously.

I want it to look sophisticated,

Although it is tight and a crop

Top.

Seeing the new look, it is

Good closure, because that dress

Came from the lowest point in

The competition.

It's a good way to put that in

The past so that I can move on.

I'm proud of myself for doing

Really pretty!

Even though I had a hard time

Putting this dress together, I

Think it's sleek, and I think

It's sexy, and I like shaya's

Walk.

I couldn't be more happy.

I think it's beautiful.

I also loved how you transformed

Hideous before, and you made

This look so sophisticated.

The best work that I have seen

In terms of your other dress,

Your own dress, was that hard to

It was very difficult for me,

But I knew if I did not pick

My dress, I will forever regret

With the texture of the

Fabric, I wanted it to almost

Give the impression of

Fluttering while she was

Walking, sort of like growing

Out of this cocoon.

And that's my avant-garde look.

This was originally kate's

Print design, and I wanted to

Emulate the shape that she

Created with the floral on the

Pattern.

Overall, I'm really happy with

How it turned out.

You must have done a marathon

In sewing all these little

Strips.

When you do this effect in this

Kind of work, you can look quite

Heavy in it.

Mm.

But her body looks amazing

In it, and those are my favorite

Nails on the runway today.

They are crazy good.

And they are you.

So with your two looks, I'm

More a fan of your avant-garde

Look than I am on the re-worked.

I like her re-worked look.

I think it's clean,

I think it's sexy and modern,

And simplicity is next to

Godliness.

I have to agree with zac.

I love the repurposed look.

You just edited down to such

A streamlined silhouette.

I think it looks very chic,

Very modern, very polished.

In terms of your avant-garde,

It looks like a pumpkin fest.

It's so orange.

Orange soda.

Orange soda, yeah.

I just don't love the color,

But I love your re-working.

I think it's so chic.

I think it's so elegant.

You could wear it in the city,

In the summer, to a meeting,

And you could wear it on a

Butterfly.

I took the darkness of something

So beautiful and made this.

Fabric to work with, and I had

Fun with it.

It was a reconstruction.

I just was playful with this

Losing piece that she had, so...

Alexandria, I love your

Avant-garde look.

Goth, sexy, dramatic dress.

I think that you would sell so

Many of these dresses.

Now, your "make it work" look,

I don't love so much.

To me, it kind of looks like a

Punk costume, in a way.

Look, but I really do love your

Avant-garde look.

It's a non-literal version of a

Butterfly.

You don't have to just be

Colorful.

It's really beautiful, and

Clearly, you did a lot of

Detailing around the neck is

I think it was smart to lower

I wanted to capture the frantic

Energy of the silent but

Energetic butterflies in a

Garment.

This was sue's place mat

Dress.

I liked a lot of the style lines

That were happening in the

Place mats.

I kept the drape, I kept the

Asymmetry.

So that's the look.

Two spectacular looks.

The white is extravagant,

Exciting, risky, thoughtful.

The hair, the makeup, everything

Works and is harmonious.

From the belk challenge.

And I remember one thing you

Guys saying was that it was very

Soccer mom, so I added a new

Print and mixed it and did some

Piping and detailing to try and

Take it the opposite way and

Make it more sexy and edgier

Than what he originally

Intended.

I love the exuberance of

Color and print of your

Avant-garde look.

I love the fact that you chose

To do pants.

That's a jumpsuit, tech--
