as part of the inspiration for

Is a new line of l'oreal paris
limited edition makeup.

Billy's gonna tell us about it.

We at l'oreal paris are very
excited to showcase our new

Makeup line called electric
fantasie.

The four leading ladies include
the enchanted queen, who is both

Powerful and bewitching, with
notes of black and berry; the

Seductive temptress, who is one
part charming, with shades of

Gold, and the other, venomous,
in deep bordeaux.

We like that.

Next, we have the wise
mystic, who will mesmerize you

With both violets and blues.

And, lastly, the artsy muse, who
will allure you in pastels and

Coral.

Wonderful, and very
inspiring.

Each of you will have one of
these leading ladies to serve as

Your muse for this challenge.

You will be creating an
avant-garde look for your muse.

Yes.

Avant-garde means new.

It means experimental.

So, this is your opportunity to
really wow the judges.

really focusing how I can use

This coral color of this nail
polish, and then this blue that

Is the color of the eye shadow
that I'm really drawn to.

I am portraying an image of,
like, a queen that is really

Strong from the outside, but she
is really frail on the inside.

Automatically thought of adam
and eve.

I went with something sexy but
still not overtly sexy where,

Like, all of her body was out,
so yeah.

I love the color.

I can see many stars wearing
this dress on the red carpet.

From the back to--to have the
back all the way down, I think

It's great.

The only thing that bothers me a
little bit is the mesh.

Mm-hmm.

I wish it would match her
color a little bit more, you

Know?

It is a little bit too light.

Mm-hmm.

What do you think, nina?

I have a few problems with
this dress.

You have a seductive temptress,
and I feel like green is the

Color of envy.

But it's a very unexpected
color, and that's what I kind of

Like about it.

Unfortunately, to me, it
looks like an ice skating

Costume that, you know,
nancy kerrigan skated through a

Banquet hall.

Her front and back don't--
it feels incomplete.

It just makes me feel like it's
sort of like an unfinished--uh,

That you--you ran out of time.

See, that piece that's draping
from her right boob to past her

Waistline, it's like a napkin,
like a table napkin that fell on

It literally looks like the
banquet, you know, just blew all

Over her.

The tablecloth is her skirt, a
napkin here, a napkin here.

And then she turns around.

In the back--there's not a woman
I know who would want that much

Of that spanx-y fabric showing
in the back, and I don't think

It looks avant-garde at all.

No, I think the avant-garde
idea that she had was to show

Her nude, as if she is not
wearing anything.

That was the whole idea, that
it looks as if, like, she's not

Really wearing anything, and I
love the, you know, a bare

Woman's back.

That's not a really bare
back.

That's, like, an old lady, like,
would say like, "I want to wear

A bare-backed dress, but I'm
gonna cover it with tulle."

It may not read avant-garde
to you, but this whole look to

Me read very avant-garde.

I don't think it's
avant-garde, and I don't think

Anyone would wear it on the red
carpet.

I guess we just have a
difference of opinions.

I mean, that's my opinion.

Well, I think that the
makeup's gorgeous.

I think the eye makeup's very

to me, you know?

That's kind of what I was
going for but trying not to make

And you have a few things
that get her into costume

To me, she looks like she has
hairy forearms.

They're crazy.

oh, I think they're cuckoo.

In general, she's very lean and

frankly, I would have loved to

Have seen some construction in
the bust.

I think you tried too many
ideas in one dress.

great things on there.

The only thing that's troubling
me--the shoulders are a little

Costumey to me.

They're too out.

They're too far out.

The neck's a little vampira.

You don't need all this at her

I mean, it's distracting, if

The details are so
incredible.

very conflicted, um, image and a

Very conflicted soul, and the
jacket is reversible on a

Different and exciting way, that
it flips upside-down.

palazzo pant.

I looked at her from there up,
and I was like, "ooh, that's so

Fabio."

And then, all of a sudden, the
pants, they're a little mom-ish.

I have to say, I didn't
respond to this look at all.

To me, she just looks like she's
going to a funeral.

It's not flattering.

I don't see the beauty in it,
you know?

I just see sadness, in a way.

of fashion editors would wear

The jacket with a pair of skinny

do more of the bold colors for

The look, and then do the
pastels for the face.

Today--she's got a little bit of
a rock and roll vibe without

She managed to--to make a
leather vest in a very

Challenging color as well, and
it all sort of worked.

Yeah, she's used color and
used it well.

In several episodes.

For all we know, her whole
collection could be neon.

That could be amazing.

Yeah.

You know, so I think that
she's got more to her than

Summing it up as, you know, a
biker chick.

Let's talk about sonjia.

I remember the hp...

Those great pants.

Challenge she did a beautiful
black top that had this drape

All the way down the back that
we loved.

She's a really good tailor,
also.

She did beautiful jackets that
we loved.

I think she's consistent in
her respect for a woman's body.

Even today's gown, which I did
not care for, when she turned

Around...

Yes.

The way it cupped her a*s,
great.

But we still cannot pinpoint
what her aesthetic is.

With sonjia, we necessarily
wouldn't be always, "100% yes,

That is a sonjia."

Even though she has done
beautiful clothes.

Let's talk about christopher.

His clothes, to me--they're
kind of like streamlined

Femininity.

He likes, you know, detailing on
the fabric, all of that.

A lot of details, yeah.

Beautiful detailing on the
fabric.

Think about rockettes.

Gorgeous.

Skyline of new york city.

The way the skyline was done.

Oh, beautiful.

Do you remember this gown
that he did where he manipulated

The fabric, and he cut all these
little panels?

Yes.

Mm-hmm, and it moved.

That was a beautiful gown.

The lightness of that gown
was exquisite.

Today, quite frankly, a
constructed ball gown, I think,

Was very ambitious.

Too ambitious.

I think he tried very hard to
impress us, and in trying that

Hard...

Tried too hard.

He had too many ideas in one
design.

But he's taken risks, he's
given us beautiful work, and

Beautifully presented.

Let's talk about dmitry.

What he gave us today, I
would wear it, I would wear it

Separately or wear it together.

How perfect was this jacket?

What he did today is crazy
good.

Everything he makes is so
meticulously tailored.

It looks like it came from
the store.

A million bucks.

Yes, it does look like it
came from the store.

Think about the candy dress
he made.

Oh, the candy dress was
beautiful.

I loved the candy dress.

The candy dress was moving,
and it was flirty.

It was kind of beaded, like,
very josephine baker.

It was beautiful.

We also loved the rockettes.

He almost won that challenge.

He's a very serious guy.

His clothes are very serious.

Mm-hmm.

He needs to play a little
with the hard and the soft.

They always have a whip in
their hand.

Yes--his girls are very--
[imitates whip cracking]

Very severe.

Yeah.

It's a one-trick pony.

That's my hesitation about
dmitry.

Does he have range?

I think his craftsmanship is
so strong, I think he can handle

Out of all of our designers,
you don't have to ask him to be

Avant-garde.

He's playing with proportion.

He's playing with gender roles.

I mean, this guy is thinking
outside the box.

I think he's conceptual, I
think he is androgynous, and

He's very articulate.

Which things can we remember?

This is the only problem that I
have.

I don't have a lot of hits that
just jump into my head right

Actually, one of my favorite
things that he did was the

Makeover.

She had like, this really cool
gray dress, and it was kind of

Color blocking.

Patch--patched.

He was able to...

He put her in a dress.

Put her in a dress, but not
make her feel uncomfortable or

Too feminine.

It was very thoughtful.

I think he proved with lord
& taylor that he understands

Reality.

This dress, though, it was...

Okay.

A little black dress, but the
way it was cut, it had just

Enough kick without being too
full.

He cut it so he put the chiffon
and the jersey together.

Yeah, it was beautiful, but
it was a little bit basic.

Today you slapped his hand
because you said it was too

Weird, and then when he does
something wearable, you're

Beating him up.

It's too basic, I don't like
it.

Too basic, too weird.

Today you told an avant-garde
designer--it's the avant-garde

Challenge.

Well, guess what.

He went for it.

That was avant-garde.

That was avant-garde.

So, this is a really big
decision.

Are we sure this is who we want
to see more from?
