Previously on Project

Runway...

Hi guys.
All: Hi

Meet your models for your

next challenge.

You will be divided into teams

of two.

Oh, no.

Now we have to work with

somebody else.

This jacket has taken you

over 12 hours and--

it looks great.

She was racking my nerves.

He said this is your design.

No, I didn't say that.

You did.

I don't think I've heard

either of you say "We."

This has to be a "We."

No, no, like this.

I mean, this is [bleep] up

because I listened to you.

Lady, I know how to fit pants.

We're headed to our first

outdoor runway ever.

I love the pants.

Oh, thank you.

This has no effort.

You could have done this in 15

minutes.

You wanted circus matador,

you got it.

Ole! Ole!

If this outfit today is the

worst look, you would be the one

to go home.

Yeah, me, I guess.

Laura, congratulations.

You're the winner of this

challenge.

Fallene...You're out.

This...

This...

This...

This...

This is the search for the

next big fashion designer.

Yes.

16 designers.

It's about style.

Fashion.

Attitude.

How do I have attitude?

Attitude.

Three finalists.

I would wear that.

I think it's fantastic.

Let me see you put it on.

Keep me out of this.

And one winner.

This is for real.

Be good.

Be great.

This is Project Runway.

The winner of Project Runway

will receive $100,000 from

L'Oreal Paris to start their

own line...

A fashion spread in Marie Claire

magazine...

A $50,000 technology suite from

HP and Intel to enable their

creativity and run their

business, and the opportunity to

design and sell an exclusive

collection on Piperlime.com.

The model paired with the winner

of Project Runway will receive a

fashion spread in Marie Claire

magazine and $25,000 from

L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets

I'm gonna miss Fallene.

I know.

I hope she's okay.

She was taking it pretty hard.

Fallene basically caved under

pressure.

I just think she just couldn't

take what this competition makes

you do, 'cause it's not easy out

there.

I will say though,

Fallene gave me a fabulous

haircut.

I look awesome.

I think I'm building up

confidence about the judges.

You know, like, I'm not as

scared as the first day or

freaked out as the first day.

Gosh, I was freaked.

I feel that I belong in here.

I feel that things are not so

shaky.

I feel more confident about

taking on another challenge.

Wow, I can do this.

I need a quick panicking.

I think my panic makes me just,

like, get it done, get it done,

and then the next thing I know,

I'm like, "and it's [bleep]."

Right.

Going into this next

challenge, this is the one that

i have to bring in.

I feel like the eyes of the

judges are starting to narrow in

on me and I don't want to

disappoint this time.

Clean it up.

I just need to clean it up.

What do y'all think the next

challenge will be?

Something horrible.

I hope we get to go to mood.

I hope it's not make something

out of paper.

Whatever it is, I'm ready.

I think I made a bad impact

with the judges, considering I

was in the bottom two, so they

have this idea that, "Next time,

he's gonna be in the bottom

again."

So I don't want to be that

person and I definitely want to

show them that I could go up

again.

Go on, children.

Back to work.

Hello.

All: Hey.

For your next challenge,

you'll be designing for a

client.

A very important client who

knows a lot about fashion.

I would be a little nervous if I

were you.

Let's bring her out.

[Laughter and applause]

When Nina walks out,

I immediately think, "Oh,

[bleep]."

So you're designing for me.

You know, the designers have

designed for me in the past,

but never for Nina.

So I'm gonna be very tough on

this.

I am terrified.

I'm nothing like Nina.

I'm just a little more

alternative and she's more

classic.

I don't know what she thinks of

me, you know?

You will be designing a look

for me that I can wear to work

during the day and then be able

to go out to an industry event.

Going into this next

challenge, I'm feeling pretty

good.

I'd say my style easily

transitions from day to evening,

so I've got that going for me.

I like classic with an edge.

I wear a lot of streamlined,

clean, tailored silhouettes.

I do not like voluminous

clothes.

I do not like lots of pleats.

I do not like loud patterns or

colors.

"I do not like this.

I do not like that."

What do you like?

What's left?

A lot! There's a lot.

Just kidding.

Let me tell you about the prize

for the winner of this

challenge.

First of all, you have bragging

rights 'cause Nina Garcia wore

your outfit.

But you'll also have your look

featured in a Marie Claire ad.

And that ad will be on the top

of New York City cabs driving

all over New York City and

millions of people will see your

look.

The taxi cab is the symbol of

New York.

I don't think there is any other

way to be more effectively woven

into the fabric of New York,

and I would just be thrilled to

win it.

So I want you to go upstairs

and sketch and then I will have

a consultation with each and

every one of you before you go

shopping.

Good luck.

You'll need it.

And I'll see you on the runway.

Bye, everybody.

All: Bye.

Good morning, everyone.

You have 30 minutes to sketch

and then you will be consulting

with Nina one by one.

In the back of the room,

there are two HP Touchsmart

desktops.

On them, you will find images of

Nina for inspiration and

reference.

So use them.

We want you to succeed.

So I'll see you in 30 minutes.

Thank you.

Thank you, Tim.

I'm obsessed with that skirt

line.

The idea of pitching my

sketches to Nina is pretty

amazing.

You know, the fact that we get

to talk to an editor and design

for her, it's probably one of

the best experience I will have.

Straight line.

This is a little cut out

architectural thing and then

these are the pockets.

This challenge is the toughest

to date because we have to

impress not only Nina as the

judge, but we have to impress

her as a client.

So what am I going to do that

she has not seen?

When I first started

sketching, I had the idea of a

slight cowl.

Something that just barely

draped.

I also did something that was

kind of off the shoulder kind of

shift dress with the idea of,

like, being a jacket over it.

'Cause, I mean, look at that

stuff on the screen.

I mean, everything's monotone.

Yeah.

Everything's almost one

fabric.

This challenge is a challenge

for me, because Nina really has

an affinity for muted tones,

neutrals.

A lot of my work is heavily

influenced by patterns and

color, so this has taken me to

another place.

If is a two-part sleeve,

I might just have the color go

to here in, like, a block.

I'm doing a simple, clean coat

dress, because I like them.

I think the judges are always

giving me a second chance and I

think I am running out of

chances.

Hi, Nina.

Hi.

So it's a minidress.

How mini is mini?

Not mini-mini.

And what is this?

This is a jumpsuit.

I like it.

Do you?

Mm-hmm.

Okay.

The jumpsuit, you're gonna

have a challenge sewing-wise

for you.

Do you think you can make this?

I'm super excited to be next

to you.

You're, like, amazing.

Thank you.

It goes a little futuristic

or more structured.

Ooh, I kind of like this.

Just think dramatic yet

conservative.

Okay.

This would be all one color

and then I would shape it.

Kind of a slight cowl.

I hate cowl.

You hate cowl?

I hate cowl.

I'm thinking, like, a grey

little tailored dress and some

hues of black, maybe some

charcoal grays.

Do you have a plan B?

A plan B on the dress?

A plan B.

She was like, "Yeah, I like

this one, but are you sure you

can make this?"

[Laughter]

What'd you say?

I was like, "I'll try."

So I would like to do a

jacket made out of a silk

organza.

But I was also thinking that

maybe you could do a pants with

one of your beautiful blouses.

Nina is very direct.

She knows what she wants.

One thought I did have was maybe

doing a pant like this and then

incorporating some of these

ideas into a blouse.

I like this idea better.

Okay.

Hi, Julie.

Hi.

I have one drawing for you.

A dress coat, okay.

Yes, a fitted dress--

I am very happy with this

silhouette.

Okay.

It is very nice and clean.

That makes me feel better.

I think Nina will be hard to

please, but I really think I

understand her style.

Hi, Nina.

How are you?

I'm excellent.

I'm feeling confident.

I'm feeling very comfortable.

I want to introduce some of the

brocades and things that I like

to do.

I'm gonna do it in a shift dress

so that I'm not doing the same

pair of pants that somehow I've

become known for.

Yes, I would love pants.

I love your pants.

Okay.

She wants me to revise my look

and give her a pair of my

"pants," so it just adds a bit

of pressure, because I know that

she's paid attention to the

stuff that I've done.

She loved it, but she wants me

to do pants.

I'm like, "okay."

Hello.

Hi, Cecilia.

Hi, Nina.

For Nina Garcia, I can tell she

likes tailoring, because she

usually dresses like that.

This should be easy for me,

because that's pretty much what

I like.

So we're thinking about giving

you two pieces, 'cause I really

want to give you a jacket.

Um, the dress is gonna be simple

sheath dress.

And is it going to be fitted

or is it going to be a-lined?

No, everything's gonna be

fitted.

That's fine.

I'm a little more concerned

about the jacket.

This is to be worn with this?

Yes.

I think it's a lot, Cecilia.

Okay, um--

it just feels a little dated.

Oh, I see.

Okay.

I'm feeling an awful pang in my

stomach.

It feels a little Dynasty.

Coming up on Project

Runway...

Hello, everyone.

I'm looking forward to seeing

how you guys are doing.

Oh, that's so scary.

Is it too big?

Yes.

Would this ever be an option

for you?

No.

This is a risk.

Do we have a plan B?

Oh, God.

I'm a little more concerned

about the jacket.

The challenge is making

something for Nina Garcia,

but the whole idea of the

jacket, she didn't buy it

because it looks too old.

It feels a little Dynasty.

That's--yeah, big shoulders.

Let me turn around and make

it into some kind of blazer.

What do you think of that?

Maybe let's just focus on the

dress.

It's a lot of pressure,

because she's those type of

people who knows exactly what

she wants.

See you later.

And there is no way you can

convince her of anything else.

How was it?

Oh, it was very bad.

[Laughter]

Why?

She didn't like my jacket

at all.

And she didn't seem to be very

excited about the dress.

Did you ever think you'd be

able to talk to a fashion editor

of a major magazine?

There's four judges,

but she's gonna choose the

winner.

If she likes it, it wins.

If she doesn't, you're out.

No fooling around.

Hi, everybody.

Hi, Tim.

Hey, Tim.

As Nina was leaving, she had

a little consultation with me

and she said the following:

"I don't want boring."

And she does not want a runway

covered with gray garments.

Oh, that's so scary.

So are you ready to go to

Mood?

Yes.

All right, we will have 30

minutes there and you have a

budget of $200.

So let's go.

Off to Mood.

Run, run, run.

Danielle, are you finding the

color?

Um, I'm pretty close.

I'm looking for a really nice

olive green.

I can't find exactly the color,

so I end up getting more of a

kelly green.

So I actually start looking

at solids first, but then I just

have this voice in my head of

Nina saying not to be boring.

So then I go and find where all

the printed silks are and this

one jumps out at me.

It's a risk.

That's for sure.

So you have to ask yourself

whether it's a risk worth

taking.

Right.

To hell with it.

I'm just gonna do it.

Five yards of this.

You have ten minutes

remaining.

And I found this really

fantastic print with this

splashy stuff on the bottom.

It's beautiful.

You're using that fabric?

I have a cut too.

Oh, you do?

Yeah.

Uh-oh.

Oh, crap, there's only ten

minutes left and I can't change

my mind and we have the same

fabric.

Great.

I'm not gonna point fingers.

It may have just been by pure

accident.

Who knows?

My game plan is just to show

Becky how she should use that

fabric properly.

I need a print.

I couldn't find a print.

[Sighs] Gosh.

Cecilia, how are you doing?

Not so good.

Not good?

No, my fabrics were all so

expensive, I can't afford them.

I really like purples with a

touch of gray, but I have a

limited budget.

Let's make it work tonight.

So I couldn't find anything

in the palette in the colors

that I was looking for.

How much is all that up to now?

I can't think when I have

thoughts clogged in my mind.

All right, everyone,

time is up.

Let's move.

Thank you.

I just hope it's not too

much.

For the jumper?

Yeah.

It's so pretty. I love it.

I could have chosen a

beautiful, but pretty

predictable solid color.

She could pull it off.

She's got great skin tone.

It doesn't seem like that

would win in this challenge.

It might make me safe, but I've

been safe two challenges in a

row and I don't really want to

be there.

You happy we're back together?

I'm so happy we're back

together.

Not like Julie...[Indistinct].

You want to say that a little

louder?

No.

I thought this was gonna be

like a Carnival cruise.

What'd you say, Julie?

I said I thought I was going

on a cruise.

A Carnival cruise?

Yeah, but it's not.

I went to fashion school because

i was so over bartending and

waiting tables.

But I thought I made a big

mistake because everybody was

really young and really

talented.

Where is this?

But I was actually better at it

than I thought.

I love your sketching because

it's different.

Mm-hmm.

You're so very different,

Julie.

No, I'm just trying to be

normal.

That's the sad thing.

I like that you're different.

Julie's a real artist.

It's not just fashion for

fashion's sake and she's the

most wonderful companion.

She's always making people

laugh.

I've been thinking about

using this down on this,

the lightest color, like a,

you know, metal gray.

Yeah, it's a good fabric.

I'm curious to see what she's

gonna do.

What she's gonna do with it?

How did she happen to grab that?

Was it laying out?

It was sitting in a pile by

the cutting table and myself.

It doesn't matter at this point.

Right.

I guess you just have to keep an

eye on her.

I'm not worried about it.

Right.

Trying to shame her.

Me and Anthony got the same

piece of fabric and it's very

distinct.

Oh, really?

Oh, my God.

That's gonna be tough, Becky.

I know. Yeah, it's--

how'd that happen, guys?

He saw me carrying it around

and he said, "Oh, you're getting

that one too?"

And I thought, "yeah."

It's okay.

One will be better than the

other.

It's just risky.

Yeah, it is risky.

What color this looks to you?

Gray. Like a gray.

This is gray?

Yeah.

They look purple there.

Under the yellow lights at mood,

the fabric I saw was purple,

but in the workroom, I only had

gray.

Muslin is a clean canvas.

It's, like, almost like

painting, so you use it

basically to mock up what you're

making.

So you first mark them and you

cut it and then you pin it all

together, sew it, and put it on

the dress form and then you can

fix it from there.

It's much easier to work with a

muslin than doing it on fabric.

Hello, everyone.

Nina coming in is a little

nerve-racking and I start to

kind of, like, get a little

nervous and it kicks me into

gear.

So it's fantastic to have

your client here, because you

can get incredibly valuable

feedback.

I was kind of hoping Nina

would show up in the workroom.

I wanted to show her my

progress, wanted to show her

where I was, and wanted her

feedback.

I'm looking forward to seeing

how you guys are doing.

I mean, never in the history

of Project Runway has this

challenge of dressing Nina ever

happened.

We're gonna be the first.

So we'll start over here.

All right.

Danielle.

Hello.

I stuck pretty close to the

sketch.

What I liked about your

sketch is that there is hard and

soft and this is just soft and

soft.

Danielle's look, I just think

it's a little dull.

It's almost as though we're

looking at the reflection of

this in water.

But it's not pressed.

But still.

The stitching here, I could--

I could do that in black.

No.

All right.

Well, um, would this ever be an

option for you?

No.

I think that Danielle's is

kind of boring.

And I'd like to do a cuff at

the bottom.

No.

Okay.

Sometimes it's hard to show your

work when it's in progress,

because no one knows how it's

going to turn out besides you,

so I'm feeling fine.

I think that you just have to

keep on going.

I'm discovering I think I

like things to look constructed,

so when I make the collar,

it's already--

yeah, I'm just worried that

the collar is a little--

is it too big?

Mm-hmm.

Okay, so make it a little bit

more dainty?

Yes.

Okay.

This is almost like her

athletic accent, I feel like.

Right?

Yes.

But I didn't want to do

matchy-matchy like orange

stripes under the arms.

I think that would be a little

too--

okay.

But we'll see.

If it's kind of k*ller,

then I'll put it on the other

one.

I'm adding more orange.

I don't think I'm so much

changing as I am taking off some

elements, but there's more color

being added.

I feel pretty confident about

this.

Okay, but you're always

telling me of your confidence.

I leave you feeling confident,

and then I see it on the runway

and I think, "Oh, my God!"

Okay.

Anya.

Hello, Tim. Hi, Nina.

Hi.

How are you?

How are you doing?

I'm doing well.

Anya showed me this fabric.

She said this is a risk.

Yeah, it is a risk.

Okay, do we have a plan B?

Um...

Oh, God.

Um...

My palms start to sweat and my

heart starts to race and

obviously, there's no plan B.

Coming up on Project

Runway...

It's very old-fashioned.

[Groans]

Kimberly's look, not my

favorite.

I'm very worried.

Christmas green.

That?

It's mousy and mousy.

I'm stuck with these

materials and I hate it all.

♪ ♪

Hi.

How are you?

Nina coming in is a little

nerve-racking and I start

to kind of, like, get a little

nervous.

Anya showed me this fabric.

She said this is a risk.

Yeah, it is a risk.

Anya's got some work cut out

for her.

She chose a print for Nina and

Nina is not really a loud print

type of woman.

Okay, do we have a plan B?

Um...

We don't because the print was

really going to be the majority

of the jumper.

I told her right away I don't

have a plan B.

It's a big risk.

But I didn't panic.

And I always think when I don't

panic, a plan B emerges.

And you've made this

commitment, so you just need to

own it.

You just make the most

spectacular garment that you

can.

Good luck.

Thank you.

The only thing I was

concerned about is I don't know

if you where a lot of bras with

your outfit.

You never wear a bra.

No.

Okay, well, then this is

perfect.

Yeah, it is perfect.

So I saw this fabric in there

and it was almost a modern

hombre in a way, so I kind of

went with it.

I like the textile.

Gonna look awkward on the

runway since we got the same

fabric.

The thing is, I don't know who

had it first.

Maybe I should have ditched it,

but I really like it.

Well, obviously, um, Anthony

Ryan and I ended up with the

same fabric.

How did that happen?

Mood is enormous.

I know!

And when we discovered it,

it was too late.

Who saw it first?

I don't know.

I mean, this looks very safe

for you.

Okay.

I feel like it's very

conservative or old-fashioned.

And don't make this a micro

mini-mini.

No.

Very plunging, which may not

be appropriate for work all the

time.

Uh, yeah.

I'm very worried.

Whoa, that is a lot of green.

I know.

Christmas green.

That?

Not when it's all tailored and

pretty and pressed out.

All right, I hope so.

I wanted to use the raw edge

of this.

I kind of like how that looks

very industrial.

Drape it a little bit like that,

so you can see a little bit of

this.

I'm just afraid it's gonna

look as though Nina got up

quickly from a restaurant and

the napkin stuck to her.

Maybe it's a roundness that

you give it just in the hip

area.

Ooh.

I like that.

I just think maybe Nina won't

opt for a little black dress,

because this is a design

competition and she wants

something a little different.

I don't mean volume like--

right.

Right.

You're on a good trajectory.

Yeah.

Viktor, keep it, okay?

All right, thank you.

All right.

How's Cecilia?

I was looking for purples and

complimentary yellows.

So I got this.

I'm gonna have this gray and the

rest is gonna be this fabric.

Are there any other--

textiles?

No, that's all I got.

It's just looking a little

sad.

As soon as she says "sad,"

it was just a bad affirmation.

The funny thing is that this

gray looked--under those lights,

looked purple.

Oh.

I couldn't believe my mind.

Cecilia's struggling again.

They just said her color palette

was muddy, but she only really

has a limited amount of fabric,

so I'm kind of worried for her

at this point.

It's mousy and mousy.

And what I am trying to get you

to do is give it some--

punch.

Yeah.

I appreciate when somebody's

blunt about something you're

doing wrong, because that's how

you grow, but I don't have a

plan B.

Okay, I have a lot of work to

do.

All right.

All right, Cecilia, you'll

make it work.

Thank you.

What I'm thinking is take the

critique and be brave and keep

working and do the best I can

with the dress.

I redid the sketch to show it

to you with the wide-legged

pant.

Wide-legged pant, okay.

Is this bodice gonna be all blue

and then the pant's gonna be all

blue?

Yes.

Kimberly's look, not my

favorite.

I don't like the gold, glittery

stuff with Navy.

It's very sailor-y.

I can see it looking very prison

jumper-esque.

Yeah, it just looks like too

much blue and then the matching

pant is blue.

Mm-hmm.

But, I mean, again,

follow your gut.

If you feel that you want the

blue, you can also still go with

the blue.

[Groans]

What's--tell us your

concerns.

You talk.

We'll be your therapists.

Because now she really

doesn't want the blue, who wants

to do the blue?

No, no, I'm fine with the

blue.

I think the blue is going to be

fine.

It's your decision.

Okay.

Yeah, okay.

Kimberly, thank you.

Thank you.

Good luck.

It's pretty risky to ignore

her advice, but she was very

clear in saying that I was the

designer and the decision was

ultimately mine.

Ah!

So I just have to go with my gut

instinct.

And there's one more thing.

There's another reward for this

challenge.

The winning look will be

featured in a Marie Claire

editorial.

Photograph for an editorial

in Marie Claire magazine--

dying! Dying.

Thank you for creating all

these beautiful designs.

It's a very special challenge

for me.

So good night, everybody.

Bye.

If Nina doesn't like the

garment that you make for her

and she's a judge, she could

pretty much have her pick of the

litter.

Yeah, I don't think that

was--I don't know.

I don't know.

But, um, yeah, I'm still alive.

Here I am.

I've sacrificed a lot to be on

Project Runway.

I lost my mom to breast cancer

when I was 17 and recently,

I lost my brother, so it's kind

of bittersweet to have this

opportunity.

I've been through a lot of stuff

and things like that could

probably...Break some people,

um, but it motivated me to keep

Welcome to the runway.

As you know, in fashion, one day

Your challenge was to create a

look for the one and only

Nina Garcia.

[Laughs]

The look should be something

that she can wear to work during

the day, and to fashion events

at night.

The reward for winning this

challenge is huge.

Not only will the winning look

be worn by Nina, it will also be

in a Marie Claire ad on the top

And it will be featured in

The stakes for this one are

high.

All right, let's meet the

they come down the runway.

One of you will be named the

winner and one of you will be

Laura, you won the last

challenge so you have immunity

for this challenge and you

cannot be eliminated.

All right, let's start the show.

For this challenge I really

stepped up my game, so I'm

feeling amazing right now.

My model looks amazing in it.

The front is shocking, the back

I know I took a risk with the

color, but I think it paid off

and I'm hoping that Nina is

gonna fall completely in love

with it.

I think my look looks awesome

on the runway.

It's very, very modern and

I'm just thinking for this

challenge, it hasn't got any

bling or jazz going on that

would make it photograph the way

I think they need it to

But I like the dress very much

and I think Nina would like it

too.

I feel really good, I made a

pair of trousers that fits

really well--the way I wanted it

I finished sewing my jacket and

I pulled the whole look

So when my model walked down the

really happy.

It's up there, it works, it's

nice.

I like what I did with the

skirt.

You know, it's very well made,

it's very tailored.

I definitely think it's

something that Nina would wear,

but I wish I would have turned

that volume up...

Just a hair.

I think it's an okay dress.

I'm sure the judges are

I'm really positive that I've

Originally I had a sketch of

basically this top as a dress.

And she loved my pants so she

wanted it to be separates.

And I gave her a very Nina-esque

look in terms of styling with

soft hair, um, just one c*ck

ring and threw it off with a

different colored hot pump.

I think it looks great, I

could wear it during the day.

It could transition into the

evening very easily.

And I like the way you styled

it.

Thank you.

I love this look.

I feel like you don't have to do

anything to it because you gave

everything already that it needs

to have, versus there are some

other outfits on the stage today

that are great but Nina has to

accessorize them in order to

make them do the sing and dance.

And this does it by itself.

I like it a lot.

I love that it's separates.

It's so smart that you got into

what a modern working woman's

head is like.

This is a special shirt.

You wear that top and it

transforms how you feel about

yourself.

Now you could come in and be

doing your expense forms in that

and you'd feel like you were

living a million-dollar

And that's the point of fashion,

it's transformative.

It's just gorgeous.

Oh, thank you.

Thank you very much.

And if she doesn't want to

Oh, thank you, Joanna.

Anya, tell us about your

look.

Well, I was really determined

to get her to wear prints.

And when she saw what I chose

she wasn't too pleased with it.

But that's all I had.

So I ran in the back and I dyed

it from mustard to this.

And, um, I think the color

really worked out.

I'm amazed at the

transformation.

It was a lot of mustard.

I love this jumpsuit,

I really do.

I think it looks so beautiful,

especially from the back.

It just falls really beautiful,

her bum looks good.

And I'm shocked that you learned

how to sew four months ago.

I can still not believe this.

How is that possible?

I learn fast, I don't know

what else to say.

I really like the shape of

it, and it feels very flexible

so that it works with the big

life that Nina has and the big

life that most working women now

have.

I love this, it's so fun.

Good for you for hearing the

feedback about the color and

hustling to make that happen.

Probably the last color on

the planet that she would say,

"Ooh, give me that--does that

come in mustard?"

It's beautifully tailored.

Thank you.

Danielle, tell us about your

look.

Well, what I originally

proposed to Nina was to do a

sheer jacket with black pants.

She really liked that you could

see the elements of tailoring

behind the sheer.

I definitely think that I should

have gotten a fabric that was

more sheer so you could see

these details.

Because with this fabric they

don't show up as well.

It's very pedestrian.

It honestly looks like a blouse

that one of my aunts would have

worn in the 80s.

The big shoulder pads and--

you know, all she's missing is

a big wide belt.

Here's the thing.

You've made some beautiful

blouses so I did try to steer

you into let's not try to be so

ambitious--let's do a blouse and

you'll do a nice pair of

trousers.

But you did wanna do it.

And I know that you had to

improvise because I see the

result.

Yeah, it didn't work.

I wanna be honest, I don't

hate this, I really don't.

I think it's kind of pretty.

But it is not a garment for

Nina.

Clothes are emotional.

When you put them on they make

you feel something and they

make other people feel something

when they see you in them.

That makes me think your model's

depressed, it makes me think

your probably a bit depressed

too.

Which you might be after this

that you would wear as a fashion

editor leading a team.

I do think that Danielle has

the strength to make something

good.

I mean, but this green

blouse...

Unless you are going to a Joan

Crawford, St. Paddy's Day

party--

[laughs]

I mean, who is wearing this

blouse.

If Nina wore the dress by

Cecilia I would have you

committed.

[Laughs]

I mean, I couldn't let you be

in the office in that dress.

It wouldn't be fair to you and

it really wouldn't be fair to

us.

That dress was terrible.

The dress was terrible, the

wrong fabric choice.

Cecilia kind of threw in the

towel right away and kinda

didn't even try.

Cecilia's design was a

problem, the original sketching

was a problem.

The choice of color was a

problem, the choice of fabric

was a problem...

And it looked overall sad.

I think there's also a

terrible attitude.

Yeah, she does look like she

doesn't really wanna be here.

Julie, I think, had an idea

here to do something

architectural.

But when you do it in fabrics

like this, it just turns into a

mess.

I mean, really, I cannot see

you in this.

I can't see anyone really in

this.

And I don't see how this is

day to evening, I mean, it just

looks--

Well, you don't want that

for day or evening.

Right.

I mean, it was sloppy.

Um, the colors were really

unfortunate.

The cut of it was unfortunate.

It was ambiguous even in what it

was.

Is it a coat? Is it a dress?

Is it a dress-coat?

It might be a new kind of

thing altogether, like a droat.

And you know what Michael?

You always keep talking about

Julie and what a great designer

she is.

And since she's got here, every

week she's made something that

was really bad.

Let's talk about whose look

Nina Garcia is going to wear.

I think Viktor delivered

something really sharp and

clean and that I could wear to

work.

And it's not too safe for

you? It's not a little bit too

boring?

I have to say, between the

shoulder and the skirt

silhouette, I don't think this

was mundane or boring.

No, I don't think you could

put any other sort of accessory

into this dress.

I agree with that.

Can we talk about Anya and

the way that jumpsuit was cut?

I mean, the jumpsuit's cut

fabulously.

Oh, and she was so quick on

her feet, you have no idea.

Because when I saw that mustard

color I was, like, horrified.

And I'm, like, where's plan B?

And she's, like, there's no

plan B, this is it.

This jumpsuit, it's not

something you've ever worn in

this chair--but in fact you

would.

Yeah.

And that makes it

interesting.

That to me means inspired

design as opposed to copy or

replicate.

We do like that she tried to

push it a little bit.

Oh!

Yes.

She didn't go for the

safe-safe.

It was inspired.

I think Kimberly's top is

exactly what Project Runway is

all about.

It felt rich to me and I thought

that if you wore that top you'd

have a great day.

All sorts of unexpected things

might happen to you and you'd be

in the mood to seize them.

And that's what you want fashion

to do.

I agree.

I mean, I think this gold top

would really look amazing on

you.

I could wear it to go to

work, I could put a jacket over

it.

I love that it's powerful but at

the same time it's a little

bare.

I like them very much.

So we've made our decision?

Nina, you have made your

decision?

Absolutely.

Okay, let's bring them back

out.

The six of you represent the

best and the worst.

One of you will be named the

winner and one of you will be

out.

The six of you represent the

best and the worst.

One of you will be named the

winner and one of you will be

out.

Viktor.

Kimberly.

Anya.

You really followed the

direction of this challenge,

and you impressed us.

Nina, since you will be wearing

this look why don't you do the

honors?

Sure.

Kimberly...

You're the winner of this

challenge.

Oh!

[Laughs]

And I'm looking forward to

wearing your design.

Thank you so much.

Congratulations.

Thank you.

This also means that you have

immunity for the next

challenge--

Oh, wow.

And you cannot be eliminated.

Thank you, Nina.

Thank you.

You're in, you can leave the

runway.

Thank you, thank you.

This win is so major for me.

I get the bragging rights that

Nina Garcia wore one of my

garments.

I'm so excited.

It's Kimberly!

Aah!

Whoo!

You won!

[Cheers and applause]

Viktor?

You're in, you can leave the

runway.

Thank you so much.

Thank you, Nina.

Anya, you're in, you can

leave the runway.

Thank you.

Thank you very much.

Danielle...

You're in, you can leave the

runway.

Thank you.

Julie...

Your garment was so confusing.

What was it?

A coat?

A dress?

Either way, it absolutely did

not work.

Cecilia, from the boring color

to the ill-fitting cut, we found

it really hard to find anything

interesting about this dress.

Also we question your attitude.

You gave up and you gave us way

too many excuses.

One of you will be out.

Cecilia.

You're in, you can leave the

runway.

Whoa.

Oh.

Cecilia, I'm so glad you're

back.

How are you feeling, Cecilia?

I'm okay.

I just feel bad for Julie,

'cause I know she really wants

to be here.

And I wouldn't have minded to go

instead of her 'cause I really

know that she needs it and she

wants it.

Did you say that on stage?

Doesn't make sense.

Mm, well, if you don't wanna

be here fully...

Julie, that means you're out.

Okay, I had fun.

Auf viedersehen.

[Kisses]

Bye.

I'm a little surprised that

I'm going home.

Thought I could hang in there.

As a designer I thought,

obviously I can do better, but

you know I don't feel, like,

emotionally crushed.

Oh!

Julie!

Hey, we had fun.

All: We did.

So how do you feel?

I'm okay, I still like it.

I thought it was great.

We all do.

Hey, everybody.

Julie, I have to send you to the

work room to clean up your

space.

Okay.

It was great having you

here.

Okay? You take care.

Bye, Julie.

See you soon, Julie.

I don't know what's next for

me.

I don't know where I'm gonna go

after this...

But I'm okay with that.

Today I am going to the

Hearst Building to meet with

Nina Garcia.

Hi, Kimberly.

Hey!

Surprise!

She's wearing my garment!

I received many compliments

this morning.

Oh, great.

Tonight I have a book signing

and a c*ck party for a

designer.

I'm just going to change jewelry

and I'm gonna go off into the

night.

So it works from day to evening

very easily.

To have this time with Nina

is very valuable because I can

take what she's told me and

apply it to future challenges.

There is a car waiting for

you downstairs.

Okay, great!

Thank you so much.

Thank you, Nina.

All right, bye, bye.

See you soon.

Next time on Project

Runway...

So we have another team

challenge.

You guys all have to run once

around the track and then the

top four runners will be the

team captains.

[Blows whistle]

Whoo!

Oh, sh**t!

That looks bad.

That does look bad.

Dropping like flies on

Project Runway.

I'm not having drama with

you.

If you're tired, take a nap.

Oh, God.

Drop dead.

He's gonna be out.

Don't pull this [Bleep].

My fate feels completely out

of my hands.

The two of you were so

wrapped up in this w*r--

i mean, you ended up with a

mess.

It's just bad.

I'm sorry, it's a rag.
