[Shaggy] ♪ Hang around for Scooby-Doo ♪
[Shaggy] That's my pal!
Scooby-Dooby-Doo!
for this year's hang gliding tournament.
[Fred] You bet, Velma.
Up there you can fly for miles.
And like you can drop for miles, too.
Yeah.
This weekend's contest ought to be terrific.
Only the most experienced fliers were invited to compete.
Like even if I knew how to hang glide,
I wouldn't fly through this creepy Canyon.
Me neither.
Oh, stop worrying.
This is the last place in the world something weird could happen.
[bird cry]
[Fred] Well, here's where we'll be staying 'til the meet.
Big Canyon Dude Ranch.
You guys got everything?
Like everything from duffle bags
to double dipped sardine sandwiches.
[laughter]
Boy, it sure is quiet up here.
Yeah, even the crickets sound louder.
[Owl hooting]
And the owls.
[loud bird cry]
It's like the bats.
Bats nothing. Look.
Zoinks. A g-g-ghost.
A pterodactyl ghost.
Zoinks. He's heading this way.
Incoming.
Whoa.
[bird shrieking]
Wow.
It's gone.
And so are Shaggy and Scooby.
I think I know where they are.
You chickens can come out now.
Is it like, safe.
It's safe.
Like, let's go inside.
I don't want to stay out here.
Me neither.
Maybe the manager can explain that weird looking ghost we saw.
So, you saw it too.
Right, Mr Boganan,
With our own ten eyes.
Yeah.
[Imitates bird]
[laughter]
Can you tell us anything about that soaring spook?
Well, millions of years ago
this canyon was filled with dinosaurs and pterodactyls.
Some people believe that pterodactyl's evolved
into manlike flying creatures that inhabited the canyon caves.
But of course the dinosaurs and pterodactyls are long since dead.
[chuckling]
Well, you know that, and we know that.
But I don't think old creepy out there knows it.
Now, I will show you to your rooms.
[bell ringing]
This sure is going to be a good trip.
We've got a super hang-glider contest by day
and a creepy ghost mystery by night.
Zoinks, speaking of mystery, what's that?
[Boganan] Don't be frightened.
That's only my handyman Mr. Morbley.
Pleased to meet you Mr. Morbley.
Likewise.
He'll take your luggage.
[laughter]
Goodnight, kids. I'll see you in the morning, I hope.
Pleasant dreams.
[Boganan laughs]
[lightning]
[loud cry]
[announcer] Attention all contestants.
Prepare for the safety inspection.
[Fred] Well, I'm all set.
After your flight, we'll start digging into this pterodactyl mystery.
Right.
Liverwurst, Ham and cheese, Roast Beef,
Yum, yum, yum, yum...
[yells]
Yikes.
[Fred] Look out, Scoob.
[Scooby] Help. Help.
Zoinks.
Hang in there, Scooby.
[Scooby whimpers]
Like, how's he doin' Fred.
So far, so good.
[Fred] I think he's gonna make it.
I didn't know we had a dog entered in the competition.
Neither did I.
[yells]
[bird shrieks]
Ow, ow, ow.
[loud thud]
What happened to, Scooby?
[Fred] He flew across the river and into that cave.
Like, where those ptero-whatever it is, are supposed to live.
It could be.
Come on, we'd better get down there fast.
Here's the cave, but where's Scooby?
I wonder if that flying creep got him.
Come on. let's look in the cave.
[Shaggy] Scooby. Scooby-doo.
[voice echoing] Scooby. Scooby-doo
Zoinks. This cave is not only creepy, it talks.
That's only an echo.
[Fred] Now come on, we've gotta find Scooby.
[Shaggy] Scooby. Come on out. Wherever you are.
Hold it. Look.
[Velma] Jeepers, cave carvings.
[Fred] Of primitive pterodactyl humanoids.
[Daphne] And look, fresh carving on that monster.
And he's got Scooby.
It looks like he put Scooby
behind a section of the cave wall.
Look over there, that must be it.
Zoinks. Like somebody changed him into a Mummy.
No he's scared stiff.
Scooby, Scooby, like, are you all right?
[Shaggy] Speak to me Scoob.
Shaggy.
Oh, am I glad to see you.
That monster's going to an awful lot of trouble to scare us away.
And he's doing a darned good job.
Like let's get outta here.
Not so fast.
We're not leaving until we find out what's going on.
[Daphne] Oh, it seems as if we've been walking for miles
and we haven't found a thing.
Wait a minute, our luck's just changed.
Look.
[Velma] Tracks.
[Daphne] Now we can follow them.
And if we're real lucky,
we'll come face to face with Old Fright Face himself.
I just know it'll be my bad luck to have this your lucky day.
Stop worrying and start walking.
[Fred] Footprints go in there.
[Daphne] Wow, look. A Stone Age living room.
[Shaggy] Yeah, with wall to wall dirt.
[laughs]
This must be where these creepy creatures live.
Yeah, like if they live.
Yikes.
Well, they're not here now,
but their tracks lead down both those tunnels.
We can cover more ground if we split up.
Shaggy, you and Scooby go that way.
And we'll go this way.
Let's go, Scoob.
Like. I'll stick right behind you.
OK.
Can pterodactyls go through walls?
I doubt it. Let's have a look.
Look.
Zoinks, Let's hit.
[loud pterodactyl cry]
Quick, we gotta hide.
Quiet Scoob, Don't move a muscle.
[fly buzzes]
[sneezes]
Just in time for a feast.
We have skeleton of lizard, juicy wooly mammoth bones.
Dinosaur eggs.
Taste it.
[pterodactyl snarls]
No, no thank you. How about you Scoob?
Unh uh.
Mm. Delicious.
Now you try a spoonful.
[loud angry cry]
Come on, Scoob.
I hope Shaggy and Scooby are having better luck than we are
at finding some clues.
Jeepers, listen.
Creepy music.
[Fred] Sounds like it's coming from in there.
Nothing in here.
Except that. Look a tape cassette.
What is weird music and a tape cassette doing
in a pterodactyl's cave.
[Shaggy] Help!
[Scooby] Help!
Yipes.
I think we lost him, Scoob.
[teeth chattering]
Uh oh. Look.
Relax, Scoob it's not the ghost. It's just a man.
Boy am I glad to see you.
You know we thought this whole cave was haunted?
Haunted? Let me outta here.
You I never saw a skeleton run so fast.
Me neither.
[laughter]
[both] Skeleton?
Zoinks. Let's get going.
Look out, Scoob. It's Old Fright Face again.
[both] Help.
Like faster. Old Creepy's gaining on us, Scoob.
Yike. Like it's coming back.
Golly. I'm getting out of here.
[Scooby] Likewise.
[pterodactyl calling]
- Phew. - And double,"Phew."
Yeah, hey where is Shag and Scooby?
[shaking]
[Velma] Where else?
Hi.
[giggles]
When it comes to finding clues,
we're not exactly hitting the jackpot.
Yeah, that cassette doesn't even have a label on it.
Let's see what it is.
[music plays]
Wow, it's Elvis John's latest hit single.
It looks like those Stone Agers like rock music.
Get it? Stone Agers, rock music?
[both giggle]
I don't get it.
Most of the caves here in the Canyon have primitive carvings
and the cassette was probably dropped
by a frightened teenager.
They seem like pretty slim clues to me.
I guess you're right Mr. Bohanan,
But we're going to search for more clues tonight.
[stuttering] We are?
Take my advice, kids. Quit while you're ahead.
[music plays]
Jeepers, listen. The same weird music we heard in the cave.
[Fred] It's coming from the basement.
What are we waiting for?
[music stops]
Yikes. The music stopped.
[Shaggy] And, like someone's comin' in here.
Quick, out of sight.
It's Mr. Morbley. Let's see what's he's up to.
[Daphne] He's going out the back door.
Shh.
[Shaggy moaning] When I see that glow, it makes me wanna go.
- Me, too. - [Shaggy] See ya upstairs.
Shaggy, Scoob, come back.
Too late. They're probably the fastest chickens in the West.
What is that glow.
It's only Mr. Morbley burning something.
[Daphne] He's going away.
Now, we can see what he was burning. Come on.
Faster, Scoob.
A couple of more steps
and we'll be out of this creepy basement.
Zoinks.
Like, where'd he come from?
Old Morbley was burning papers.
[Scooby] Help.
[Shaggy] Like the...
...pterodactyl.
[Velma] I don't see anything.
There's not much left of it, Velma. But it might be a clue.
I can tell there's not enough light to read by out here.
[Fred] Well come on.
Let's go get Shaggy and Scooby out of the barn.
Shaggy, Scooby?
[Shaggy] Shh. Like there's nobody here but us burros.
[Scooby neighs]
You chicken burritos can come out now.
The coast is clear.
Phew. Am I glad old Prehistoric Puss is gone.
This mystery keeps getting more mysterious every minute.
Well, we know where we can solve it g*ng.
Up there at the cave where we first saw the ghost.
Oh, no. You can count me out old Fred.
I'm not going back to those caves anymore.
Me neither.
OK, Shag you and Scooby go out into the spooky dark,
find Morbley, and see what he's up to.
Like, all by ourselves?
On second thought.
There's safety in numbers, I hope.
These sure footed little burros will take us straight to the cave.
[Shaggy laughs] Like that's what I'm afraid of.
[Daphne] Golly, there are creepy caves all over the canyon.
[Fred] Right. But we're headed for the big one at the top.
[Velma] So far, so good.
[Fred] That pterodactyl will leave us alone,
maybe we can sneak up on him and find out what he's up to.
Zoinks.
[Shaggy laughs] We don't have to sneak up on him. He snuck up on us.
[gulps]
[pterodactyl cry]
Let's get out of here.
[Shaggy] Whoa. Can't we go any faster that this?
These little burros were not built for speed, Shaggy.
Maybe they're not. But we are.
Yikes. Here it comes. An aerial attack.
[Shaggy] Quick, let's hide in here, Scoob.
[Fred] Let's follow Shaggy and Scooby into this cave.
[burros braying]
Hey, where are Shaggy and Scooby?
Oh, golly, the roof must have caved in on them.
[Shaggy and Scooby] Help.
How did they get behind there?
I don't know, but we gotta get 'em out.
[Daphne] Creepers, a secret switch. And a fake wall.
Oh, like, thanks. Now let's get out of here.
Hold it you guys.
Let's find out what somebody was trying to hide
behind this phony wall.
[Daphne] Wow. Do you see what I see?
A room full of recording equipment.
Yeah, but what's it doing in this cave.
It looks like our prehistoric pterodactyl monster's
becoming less primitive all the time.
And it looks like we're coming closer to solving this mystery.
Right, now let's get back to the Mystery Machine.
and go back down to the lower cave.
[Fred] I have a hunch we can wrap this thing up
before the night's over.
Here that, Scoob?
[Scooby whines and cries]
I think this is where he was going when he saw us.
He may have flown in, but look.
Unless he has landing gear, someone else drove a car in.
Looks like our ghost is meeting somebody
who's real flesh and blood.
And whoever they are,
we're gonna trap them inside.
We are? How?
I don't know yet, but that's it.
What's it?
We'll build a road block.
A road block?
A road block?
[laughs] Like we were...
We were digging a place to hide.
It's still a great idea.
Keep digging.
Come on. Let's give them a hand.
[Scooby panting]
Like I don't dig all this digging.
[gulps] Look.
Zoinks. Monster eyes.
Oh, those aren't eyes you 'fraidy cats.
They're headlights, reflecting from our lantern.
Uh oh, watch out. Here they come.
Wow the ghost was driving Johnny's sandwich truck.
But the truck wasn't carrying sandwiches.
It was loaded with music tapes and records.
Like, is the ghost gone?
Yeah, and so is our chance to catch him unless we get moving.
Come on.
Look. Over there where it says" Wild River Raft Trips."
[Daphne] He's escaping down river in a rubber raft.
[Velma] Oh, we'll never get him now.
Oh, yes we will. I've got a plan.
Well, good luck, old Fred.
Hold it, the plan includes you.
Uh huh. Like I just knew you'd say that.
[laughter]
[Shaggy] Whoa!
Hang in there, Scooby.
Whoa!
Relax, Shag. When we catch up with the ghost,
the story will make a big splash in all the newspapers.
[Shaggy] Like, I'm worried about making the big splash right now.
Look, we're gaining on him.
I can't look. I'm afraid of heights, hang gliders,
falling, and drowning and all that kinda stuff.
Me too.
Now remember the plan.
I'll dive on and you do the rest.
[Shaggy] Oh boy. If this works,
I'm gonna run away and join the circus.
[Fred] Now.
[Shaggy] Yow. Ow.
[pterodactyl cry]
[Scooby yells]
You've got him. I'll meet you below the rapids.
You'll meet us below the rapids.
[Scooby] Rapids?!
[Shaggy and Scooby moaning]
I got you, Scoob.
[Shaggy] Hang on, Scooby-doo.
[Scooby] Yikes.
Look out.
[Shaggy] Whoa. We're running out of air.
Oh, no we're gonna crash.
This is it, Scoob. We're doomed.
Goodbye, old buddy.
Here they come now, Sheriff.
I don't see anything.
Not in the water, Sheriff. In the air.
Abandon ship.
Will somebody tell me what this is all about?
Who's the kooky bird man?
This is Johnny, owner of a catering truck.
But that was just a cover for his real operation.
A music pirating ring.
They've been stealing hit tunes broadcast over the airwaves.
And making a fortune with cheap copies of tape cassettes and records.
I heard your dispatch in my citizen's band radio Sheriff;
What's going on?
You're just in time Mr. Bohanan.
Oh, in time for what?
For the sheriff to place you under arrest.
Arrest? What's she talking about?
I'm not sure yet, but I'm finding it very interesting.
The music pirates made their recordings
in an underground studio
we found in a old cave above the ranch.
[Fred] Then to save time crossing the river,
Johnny would fly the records down to the warehouse
on the other side in a special hang glider.
[Daphne] Then they delivered the bootleg tapes and records
to stores with their catering truck.
It worked fine until folks spotted the hang glider flights
and got curious.
That's when Bohannon dreamed up that phony pterodactyl legend
to scare everyone away from the caves.
You have no evidence that tied me in with this.
Surprise. When Mr. Morbley burned the days trash,
We rescued part of this purchase order.
"To Mr. Bohanan, Big Canyon Dude Ranch.
Please ship 3000 albums, 3000 cassettes.
Check enclosed 12,000 dollars."
Sounds pretty good to me. Bohanan, I'm taking you in.
Meddling kids.
You ruined a perfect million dollar operation.
Stop him.
Ready, Scoob?
Ready.
Pretty snappy trappy, huh, Scoob?
