All right, team,
let's get this beach
cleaned up.

-Sara, plastic.
-You got it!

-[Merian] Francis, cans.
-Can do.

-[Merian] Larry, paper.
-Anything for you.

[Merian] Chip and Pliny,
mushy stuff.

-I gotcha!
-Yes, ma'am!

[Merian] Scoop and sort,
everyone. Let's go!

Sara!

You're putting a dry carcass
in the wet carcass spot.

Oh, right. So sorry.

Ugh. I gotta wet up
this carcass.

Hang on a minute.

Why are we all just doing
whatever Merian says?

Ugh.

I don't know. She just has
so much... authority.

[Merian] What happened?
Why'd you stop cleaning?

[screaming]

Uh, Merian, what is that?

-Hmm? What's what?
-That.

-Hmm?
-That thing right there.

No, no, not there. Merian.

Pliny, where are you
even pointing? [laughs]

-The sash!
-Oh!

This old thing?
I forgot I was
even wearing it.

It's just my official sash

from when I was voted
president of my school's
Portuguese club.

Your school
offered Portuguese?

Lucky duck!

[speaking Portuguese]

[in English]
Back to work.
Chop-chop!

[all scream]

-Ugh.
-[all] Yes, ma'am.

Pick up... [grunting]

Mustn't... No!

[all exclaim]

That sash has too much power.

You know we're all compelled

to respect symbols
of authority.

Why should you be the one
who gets to wear it?

Uh, because it's my sash.

I was voted A Presidente.

So? None of us voted for you.

Plus, we were all presidents
back at our schools.

-Yeah, that is true.
-Oh, yeah, I was president.

I was president
of club Francis.

[whispers] And
the founding member.

We need to have a new vote
to decide who wears it.

It's only fair.

What? How is that fair?

[scoffs] So you're
against fairness?

-You just lost my vote.
-[all] Mmm-hmm.

Wait, no! Uh, I like fairness.

Let me just, um...

Uh, shimmy down this, okay?

Hold on, I'm coming.

[grunts]

Okay, it's up to a vote.

And... heads up!

Great! We all voted
for ourselves.

Francis, what are you doing?

I think we should all
be president.

All right, Francis
is disqualified.

Wait a minute.
Larry, what about you?

I vote for
president mouth rat.

[squeaking]

Great, Larry is
also disqualified.

So, it's a tie.

Okay, I propose that
to keep things simple,

I just keep my sash
and whatever power
it confers.

-[Pliny] Wait!
-[Merian gasps]

I propose... a tiebreaker.

[laughing]

Yoo-hoo!

Oh, I almost got you!

Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya!

You little scamp! Hmph!

So you want me
to be the tiebreaker?

You think this is a democracy?

If anybody is president
out here, it's me!

No. Scratch that.

Empress.

All right.
Uh, what about
you, Mr. Okay?

You want to be the tiebreaker?

Uh, I vote Lullah.

Uh-oh!

[laughing]

Get back here, you rascal bot!

[all screaming]

Aw, sh**t!

Well, that's everybody.

Guess I'll just put
my sash back on.

That's not everybody.

Yeah. Yeah, get him.

Yeah, good one.

The mutants?
They can't break the tie.

That's not fair.
They barely even know us.

Which is why
we're gonna
stage a debate!

[gasps]

-A debate?
-I love arguing!

Yeah, I can throw in some
of my satirical rap parodies.

-[all] No!
-No rap parodies!

Anyway, I knew
you'd like
the debate idea.

-[chuckles]
-It's true.

Standing on the stage,
scoring points for subverting

the so-called
"objective" truth,

my opponent's arguments
are the walnuts,

and my mind is the nutcracker.

You're on.

to vote for a new Presidente.

Just remember,
you asked for this.

Whatever happens,
I accept it,
'cause this is fair.

But before you vote,

we're going to hear
from our candidates
in a rousing debate.

Let's kick off our opening
statements with...

Merian.

Oh, I will.

Thank you!
Or should I say, obrigada!

[laughs nervously]

[fly buzzing]

My fellow mutants,

last year, my classmates
elected me the presidente

of our Portuguese club,

and they gave me this sash.

They chose me
because of my hard work

and my ability to ignore
all social interactions
outside of school.

So I ask you to
grant me the privilege
of wearing it again.

to the voting booth today,

do the right thing.
