Primal Darkness (2026)

Post by bunniefuu »

Out here in the wild,

nothing is given.

Everything is earned.

The land provides, but only

if you respect it.

My name is Cole

Harrington and I've been

hunting the western United

States since I

was a kid. My father taught

me to hunt the right way,

ethically, responsibly, with

respect for the

animals and the land.

Hunting isn't about trophies.

It's not about staged shots

or glamorized kills

like you see on other shows.

It's about connection to the

land, to the wildlife,

and to something

primal deep inside us.

Every hunt tells a story.

And out here nature

writes the script.

I take

pride in being an

ethical hunter.

Giving back to the

wild that gives so much to me.

This isn't just a sport.

It's a way of living.

of life and if you're here

watching well you feel it too

this is primal instinct

interesting experience one time

deer hunting not too far from

here I was kind

of thinking about it while I

was on this trip I ran into

I don't know if you call

him a hippie I guess maybe a

hippie didn't think anybody be

out as far as I

was came around a bend and

there he was barefoot his

feet like buried in the

dirt and he called attention

to me by saying he saw me

first actually I went

over to him he said he said

are you deer hunting and I

thought great he's gonna

be some protester and it's

gonna be like a big pain in

my a*s right to get away

from this guy

but I said yeah I am and he

said he said that's good he

said did you find your

balance and I had no idea

what he was talking about

right and I said well I

don't know you know I don't

know I guess everybody has

their own idea of what

balance is right and he said

he said the earth has a

balance and he said if

I'm gonna be

taking something from the

earth a deer do I have a

plan to pay it back right

keep things balanced he was

out he was doing something I

don't know what the

term was earthing I don't

know I'm making that up maybe

he had his feet in

the in the soil and he was

saying that by his bare feet

being buried in the

dirt like that he was you

know he was connecting with

earth again right and he

felt like I was also

connecting with earth if I if

I as a hunter I get a deer

and I eat the

meat then I'm connecting with

the earth right but he said

uh we all have to have a balance

when we're out here otherwise

everything gets thrown off and

he asked if I if I had figured

out my balance yet and I

said well quite honestly I I

don't really know how to

answer that so I

asked him uh if he had any

kind of um thoughts on what

you know a hunter's

balance would be

and he said of course it was

very you know out there but

essentially that

he couldn't answer

that and I said well I don't

know I don't know I don't know I don't know I

don't know I don't because that's for every

person to answer for

themselves right but he said

uh if I was going

to draw blood um from one of

earth's creatures that I may

have to be willing

uh to eventually

give my blood back right to

the soil balance and he asked

if I had it figured

out and I said no

I don't think anybody really

can figure out their own

mortality you know that's the

whole point of

living

life is not knowing when it's

going to end right um and I

don't find it scary

I think it's what

makes it exciting that's what

makes the journey worth taking

uh but he just said

uh he said make

sure that you always always

replace what you take and

keep the balance

right don't take more

than you give don't give more

than you take uh and I

we left each other there and

I went on hunting I ended up

getting a deer that year and

it was great

uh but I've always thought

about that it was interesting

you know we probably

live very very

different lives I imagine he's

probably the type that uh he

may get teary-eyed if somebody

kills a spider right um which

is fine balance there's going

to be somebody like me out there

there's got to be somebody

like him otherwise we just

can't harmonize right it's all

about the

balance Jeremy I don't know

if you're going to be able

to do a whole lot

with this footage

uh I mean as you'll see as

you go through this stuff I

don't have a whole lot uh

it's been a hell

of a hunt I I spent nine

days uh man we didn't we

didn't come in to anything um

I thought maybe

the snow and the weather

would help drive them a

little bit but I don't know

if if it being a late

season hunt if maybe the

early hunters got in here and

pushed them out I don't know

if if uh the

fires that we had

earlier did something

I don't know if there's a

predator in the area or what

but uh I did all that

scouting and we had

our eyes on a couple of a

couple of good bucks and I

didn't see them once uh once

we finally got

out here so uh disheartening

for sure and I don't know

trying to end a

season of a show here

and I got I got no deer in

my hands um I don't really

know how to end this right I

guess maybe

your your technical wizardry

with the editing should

maybe be able to do something

I don't know or maybe we

scrapped this whole

final episode and

you just do a highlight reel

or something um I don't know

man I don't know

beautiful country

um I had a lot of a lot of

time to just reflect and it

was a great hunt

um you know because

everybody knows a hunt isn't

about the k*ll right it'd be

called k*lling it

wouldn't be called

hunting um and uh

I just uh I had some time

to to spend thinking on

things kind of reconnecting

get everything well I mean

who am I kidding man

everything's everything's kind

of f*cked

I don't know if it's the

divorce or like the

uncertainty of what's going to

happen with the

kids or what but I wasn't

into this one at all and I

think that's why um you know

the footage

stinks and and maybe that's

why I didn't run into any

deer I don't know if I just

if my heart wasn't in it or

what um anyway man I

appreciate everything you've

done um and I'll

send you what I got and I

don't know I'll try and film

some kind of a promo

here in a minute

when I get my sh*t together

because I'm just not in the

best mood I want to say

thanks to all my

fans for keeping up with us

throughout this first season

of Primal Instinct it's been

a series of

ups and downs we've had some

really uh incredible and

encounters but it's been great

and it's very humbling for me

to hop online and see how many

of you are out there

supporting our efforts and how

many people we've got in the

comment section

and all the views it's been

wonderful um I do appreciate

you guys jumping

into the comments

and trying to fight the

trolls that want to uh talk

some talk some smack

to us but uh just

remember don't don't feed the

trolls you're better than them

uh thank you to everybody who

has been rocking the Primal

Instinct merch uh remember to

keep tagging us and everything

uh hit that hashtag Primal

Instinct on all your posts um

you know we love

to see it and we'll

pick some and we'll share

them on the next show I mean

you do this stuff for a

living right Jeremy

you edit and you you take

footage and people are in and

out of character and

all that and uh so

you're used to this I'm not

the whole point of this was

so you'd see the real

me and and here I

am actually in a little bit

of a dark place I guess

there's a lot of people that

can just turn their

personality on and off uh for

the camera right it's all

what the camera

sees whatever the

audience sees is what they

think is actually going on

and it's the behind the

scenes stuff that

you don't nobody needs to

hear about my anymore Jeremy

thank you I'll send this to

you we'll get

it cut

figure out what we can do

with it and I'm just ready

to get warm uh I'm

ready to come back

season two when the weather's

better I will get my head

right uh when we come back

so I'm signing

off brother I'm gonna get out

of here before the weather

gets too bad and uh

I'm really really

sorry about this going on and

on and on and on and on and

on and on it is

peaceful out here it is

in the snow and uh I should

probably get out of here

before I freeze to death

because the rest of

my good gear is back at the

truck and I walked up to

this pretty spot so I could

film this promo

and uh I'm starting to get

pretty chilly I don't think

anybody gives a about me

being cold I don't know maybe

you do I guess maybe that's

what reality television is

right I'm having

trouble adjusting to all of

this stuff because I'm used

to just looking at

everything through a

r*fle scope now I'm I'm out

here uh vlogging which is not

a term I expected

to be uh really

privy with and something I'd

be doing much of but hey

look at here we are 140

something thousand

people later following our

exploits I guess we're doing

something right huh

what's up ladies Rick yes sir

Cole nice to meet you nice

to meet you hey so

uh I take it you're

the one who sent the email

about the mountain lion yeah

yes sir all right

um you want to show

me the the livestock or uh

well it's not here this this

is my main property

here okay um it's

a little ways that it's it's

a long ways out actually so

I'm gonna take

you over there and

if you're up for a long

drive yeah I know it's fine

uh honestly I appreciate it I

I need the

channel anyway um and and

getting to go after maybe a

problem outline and

kind of be good for

my viewers you know so yeah

I appreciate it um God it's

a lot busier here

than it ever used to

be as freaking traffic I

would have been here a lot

earlier but yeah it's you

know it's casino

owner puts in this Parkway

you know for all the

subdivisions that are going in

up there it's you

know this is what it is I know

keep encroaching further and

further out that sounds good

um I mean how far

are we talking a

couple hour drive or yeah

it's about four and a half

five hours okay good

ways out there all

right uh Lawton kind of

Lahontan Basin area yeah yeah

right right around

there um and you

know um like I said in the

email I'm a fan of the show

yeah you know truly I

appreciate it yeah

um just when we get out

there can you please just do

me a favor and try not to

film too much of my

life you know uh you're

you're a married man you know

um I'm sure the last thing

you want is for

your family and everything to

be all over the internet so

I'm a bit of a

private guy so if we

can just try and you know

keep it a little bit private

I'd appreciate it

yeah yeah I totally

understand honestly this thing

I uh I'm not married anymore

I just haven't really had the

guts to take the ring off

yet and uh you know how it

goes if I could find a way

to get this one off

uh if you've got those uh

those photos that you emailed

over with the the animals or

whatever if

you've got them maybe in like

a little higher definition um

it's for the channel

it's everybody

complains about the quality of

everything so maybe I'll sh**t

you my email uh and

we can get those

um you know the ones you

sent with the the dead elk

and the cows and everything

so yeah for sure

I can I can text those over

to you email them to you

whatever you need yeah okay

well that works

um sweet well it sounds like

we had a long a*s drive

so let's uh let's get out of

here huh yes sir all right

thanks so back there

um that's pretty

much where we're going to be

headed into it's it's hilly

country it's Rocky

country it's where

big cats like to hang out so

that's where we're going to

go kind of Scout today uh as

you'll notice

I got a r*fle on me that's

because we actually have not

been issued a permit

yet we applied for

a depredation permit based on

the ranchers um you know

claims of of livestock being

taken but state hasn't issued

one yet so I

can't actually legally be out

there hunting yet um because

we're not permitted

but I got to do

this thing legal you know I

mean that's kind of been like

the entire premise

of the show right is

is uh doing things the right

way um but uh I have never

been one to do things the

stupid way so we're

totally um not going in uh

completely empty-handed so one

of the big complaints that I

had from the

first season was uh trying to

self-film everything was a

huge pain in the a*s

and uh now I have

upgraded to a very cool POV

body cam so now we'll be

able to get some

really epic stuff

love that hands free baby

sometimes this place just

feels like it was forgotten

by time you know

I think one of the more

impressive things with the big

cats is uh how

incredibly strong they

are even when they don't look

it even a small a small

amount lion you know around

70 80 pounds

can hoist triple its body

weight straight up up into

these rocks up a tree

hauling off you know calves

and young cattle um it's not

out of the realm of

possibility at all

I'm gonna go a little further

in see if I can locate a

Dan or something might be a good

indicator uh where they're

hanging out so stay tuned you

guys gotta see this

this is interesting

looks like it's dead not that

it's out of the ordinary to

find stuff like this out in the

desert but we are

way way out here

so uh to be honest I'm a

little surprised you know a

lot of hunters they

they go way up into

these rocks and stuff and

they they misjudge everything

and uh and they

fall so we'll take

this with us see if uh can't

get it charged up and see

what's on it one of

the more concerning

things about this actually is

that uh this is a new phone

I've got the same

charging port on my

phone and I've got a charger

back in the truck

so I can get this thing

going um it did not take

much weather damage I mean

the screen's cracked a

little bit but uh when I hit

the power button it actually

is giving me an

indicator to plug

it in so there's still

electronics working reason I've

got a little cause for alarm is

uh University in Nevada Reno

had two anthropologists that

went missing just a few

weeks ago and it's not far

from this area that a lot of

people speculated

they were there was

there was some talk that maybe

uh because they were a

romantic couple that um the

boyfriend may have been a

suspect but anybody

that spent any time up here

knows how dangerous it is and

you can go up too

high take a spill and

fall into a crevice uh real

easy nobody ever find you

plus there's mine shafts all

over in this

area people go down there all

the time kind of heating the

warnings and uh

they don't come back

out so this makes

me think that uh

we could potentially be on to

something and depending on

what's on this I

may be since I'm

out here right I might

abandon this whole lion thing

and go on more of a search

and rescue mission

so yeah just letting you know

Jeremy when you get all this

footage I have no

idea what is gonna be

on this by the time it's

done but uh this could be

for some pretty compelling

television so stay

tuned I'm gonna get him this

time again oh yeah

you know I'm not giving up

till I catch at least one

lizard on this trip

these guys are fast well I

guess we answered the question

who's faster than a lizard not

like the Western fence lizards

back home good try though

better luck next

time what'd you say

about the Moss again that's

not Moss it's lichens it's

lichens well I was saying

that it's got great

incredible

quality up here for these to

be able to grow they only

grow in good quality air you

know for someone

so worried about in her

office romance you sure are

getting a lot of it on

camera hey yeah come

on it's just you know what's

the University gonna think who

cares what a bunch of old fuddy

duddies in an air-conditioned

office are gonna say well

it's more than just old fuddy

duddies and

our relationship

if we had one it's more you

know my career this research

if we don't do it

correctly if we're

wrong about the theory well

then everything could go up

into smoke you know you're

always so worried

about what could go wrong you

ever consider what could go

right go on let's take a break

absolutely come on supposed to

be getting landscape

oh right right right right I

did a research trip after all

sure sure right well

I you're right I

mean it is you're enjoying

the adventure you know with

you I just I don't want to

lose all this you

know you know there's been

plenty of that wasn't the

word quite I was looking for

but yes there's

been lots of archaeological

uh huh

And what about those ghost

hunters that were married?

Okay.

Ghost hunting and anthropology

are not even in the same realm.

One is a science and the

other is debunked theory after

debunked theory after

debunked theory.

I mean, come on.

I just want our colleagues

and the other professors at

the university to

take me seriously.

To take us seriously.

Well, I mean, with everything

we might find out here, I

think they will

take us seriously.

We can get that paper turned in.

I mean, some of what we're

finding out here is

pretty groundbreaking.

You know, if we go down for

this, I'm blaming you. Worth it.

I sure do.

Check this out.

Oh, that's so exciting.

What you got? Oh, head.

Look how it's so carefully made.

Look, it's got fluting. Oh, my.

Oh, my God, it's got fluting.

You know, if you stare at

that any harder, it's going

to burst into flames.

Oh, come on.

I mean, fluting wasn't

originally found until around

11,000 years ago.

So if this is 20,000, 30,000

years, according to the rings

that are left here

from the sandstone,

then this could really short

my theories on whether that,

you know, shelter.

Shelter way before we ever

thought possible.

Given some of the formations

around here,

it makes me wonder,

if we, you know, maybe the

Ice Age was a little

different around here.

I wonder if early man around

here went underground instead

of just wandering.

I mean, think about it.

The Ice Age wouldn't have

just been about surviving the

cold and surviving

the fauna and flora.

It was survival in general,

from extreme hunger, from

weather phenomena.

I mean, could you imagine if

it wasn't just finding shelter

in caves, but structured homes?

Like long-term survival.

Exactly.

If we're right about this,

this could change everything

for us, Micah.

You know, I really love

seeing you like this. Like what?

Oh, you come so alive when

you're discovering new things

and getting to talk about

your theories in

your papers. Come on.

Be professional.

Come on, Micah.

Oh, oh, right.

The arrowhead, right.

Yes, the arrowhead.

I mean, look, it's not even

made of the same sandstone or

rocks that are

found around here.

They would have had to have

traveled miles and miles to

bring this here. That's true.

I wonder what else we can

find around here.

Yeah.

Maybe there's some evidence of

agricultural work.

Oh, that would be incredible.

Oh.

Remind me to get this in a

specimen box

whenever we get back.

It belongs.

To our museum.

Well, I like that

movie. Oh, crap.

Oh.

Well, don't get,

don't walk up to it.

People are sick.

Look, this isn't, what kind

of nonsense is this?

Weird and disgusting

is what it is.

Yeah, weird and

disgusting is right.

And fresh.

Someone recently did this.

Well, it's obviously not real.

Obviously not ancient.

Obviously disgusting.

What's that song teenagers

scare the living sh*t out of?

I don't know.

I don't know.

It's a good point.

Probably teenagers.

Probably drunk college kids.

Violet Gart.

Look at that freaking pile of

beer cans over there.

And none of this

even makes any sense.

Appropriate pictograph.

And it's not even

an appropriate rip.

All right, Miss Skeptical.

Oh, come on.

You know that nothing pisses

me off more than fake science.

Well, I didn't catch a live

lizard, but I guess

technically speaking, I did

catch a reptile.

What did you call

me? Oh, please.

I'm surprised you didn't keep

that, say.

Yeah, yeah, we'll go with that.

Definitely not in my

backpack. You did.

You know I did.

You know, it's the fact that

I know you did that just, ah.

You're that hungry.

You know, lunch doesn't sound

like too bad of an idea.

I need to remember to start

packing better rations if

that's the case.

Yeah.

I can't live off granola bars

and trail mix. Excuse me.

Those MREs were perfectly

sawdust serviceable.

Yeah, you know, if I could

find a rock or something.

Hey, that just

helps you digest it.

Put some hair on your chest.

I'm not the one that needs

hair on his chest.

You would know.

At least it's a

good day for this.

Yep.

Hey, Micah, check it out.

Sagebrush.

Wow.

Wow.

Sagebrush.

Wow.

You're k*lling me, Anna.

Hey, at least I didn't say

vertical log again.

You're adorable when you're

ridiculous, you know that?

Oh, come on, you're impossible.

You like it.

It's the only reason I could

think you'd be out here in

the middle of nowhere with me.

Middle of nowhere, indeed.

Put that right there.

Now you have some flowers

behind your ear.

Oh, thank you. Thank you.

Now I can see you from anywhere.

I think maybe we should have

brought the orange tent.

I think this should be fine.

I think I see a spot

we can clear off.

Sounds good to me. High ground?

High ground.

We'll set up camp over there.

All right.

Come on.

Check it out.

We've got two

different species here.

I'm really liking

what I'm seeing.

Oh, my God.

George.

It's a shame we're not here.

We can't cultivate it.

Imagine the beautiful portraits

you could make with

these if you could.

You know, I never

considered that.

Right?

Funny.

I didn't think the species

grew here on the West Coast.

Might as well get moving again.

Great.

Now we're getting stalked by

coyote noises and we're

wrestling outside of the tent

in the smallest

tent you could find.

You told me to be economical

about this.

I was being economical about

it and then...

It's just wild animals.

Goodness gracious.

Oh, and that's supposed to

make me feel better whenever

we don't have anything to get

rid of the wild

animals. All right.

I'll get them out of here.

They're full moon tonight.

They're active.

Oh, please.

I mean, no, that's not really...

Just keeping you on your toes.

More like on my a*s.

Well, if this turns out to

be false, I'll be putting you

on that in a minute.

Oh, you jerk.

What?

What? I'm Cowpocalypse.

I'm here to haunt you.

Where did you get that?

What?

It was just outside.

What do you mean it

was just outside?

It was just outside the tent,

like five feet away.

We cleared this entire site.

What do you mean it was just

five feet away?

It was just five feet.

I'm sure something just

dragged it over here.

What would drag over a

completely dry cow skull?

I'll be right back.

Don't go out there.

We got to get it

away from the tent.

Oh, God. Stay put.

I will be right back.

It better be.

Micah, I guess it's not funny.

Look, now you've completely

ruined the tent.

Oh, so you've ruined the tent

for a cow joke.

Micah, that's not funny anymore.

Stop it.

Micah?

Active mind community.

What do we have here?

And so he got a clean cut

on the neck there.

That's a paw.

Clearly the work of poachers.

That's a bear. All right.

We don't even have black

bears this far out

into the desert.

So somebody hauled it up here

clearly and dumped it.

But that's definitely

not an animal.

That is.

Clear as day.

Somebody cut that.

It's a really sharp instrument.

You can see.

Sawed it right off.

Took the paw.

This sh*t makes me sick.

Guys like me, the true

hunters, we've been

anti-poacher, you know, since

our upbringing.

Because this is the kind of

sh*t that people who aren't

hunters, they get

it confused with.

And they think that, you

know, this is what

guys like me do.

This is absolutely not.

This is what guys like me

want to fight against.

What a shame.

One thing about Nevada.

It can be really, really cold

in the mornings.

And then it can get really,

really hot in the afternoons.

Well, if that's not an

interesting structure there.

I've seen a lot of things

while I've been out here.

But I can 100% say I have

never seen whatever the hell

this is supposed to be.

Now, if I'm not mistaken,

that's a human skull.

Well, Jeremy, I don't know if

we ever thought we'd have

something like this

to put on camera.

But it's too interesting to

not include.

There's a pretty big

population of Native

Americans up here.

And I would imagine, you

know, maybe this is some kind

of a burial site.

I know it's probably different.

It's kind of jarring to

viewers that there's human

remains hanging from it.

But many of the different

cultures around here, they

have different ways of kind

of honoring their dead.

So, you know, who am

I to judge, right?

Not that I'm not

going to call this in.

Local law enforcement may not

know about this one,

especially since

we're so far out here.

I may have to get a hold of

that rancher, too,

and let him know.

Because he may have tribe

squatting on his place.

I don't know.

Maybe he knows about this.

I don't know.

I would assume he wouldn't be

hanging human body parts from

a totem structure.

But, you know, again, well,

our journey

continues. Is, remain.

This is definitely where I

think somebody might be if

they did somehow survive.

Okay.

People have definitely been in

here before.

Because that's not

natural mine stuff.

Damn.

Okay.

Hello?

Ma'am?

So, I got up high enough to

get a little bit of service.

I contacted the

Lahontan sheriff.

There's no way they're going

to be able to send anybody out.

We're way too far out.

And they're way

too understaffed.

So, the plan is they want to

come take a look at the

human remains tomorrow.

They're asking me not to

touch it, obviously.

They asked if I'd be willing

to just stay up here overnight.

Which is fine.

Because, quite honestly, if

that cat did this, we got a

man-eater in our hands.

And he's going to

come back at night.

So, it's to give me at least

an opportunity to see if he's

coming and going from that mine.

Yeah.

So, anyway, the plan is I'm

going to stay up here tonight.

Just kind of keep

going. Keep watching.

If it is, in fact, that cat,

I'll get out of here.

I'll go get all my stuff to

be prepared for a real hunt.

And we'll come back out here

and we'll take him down.

If he's coming in and out of

there, it's a den.

So, there's no way he's going

to abandon it at this point.

Especially if it's taking food

in there.

So, stay tuned.

If this ends up turning into

a missing persons episode,

especially if I can.

I know they said not to go

in and disturb any other

remains or anything.

And I'm not.

But that cell phone footage

has a girl and a guy.

And there's no way that that

foot belonged to that guy.

And I just feel like it

wouldn't be me if I didn't

at least take one more look

through there.

See if I can't

locate him. You know.

And then tomorrow I'll let

the sheriff's office

do their thing.

But I'm going to take one

more quick walk through there.

But I'm going to go hands free.

So, I'm going to put

my helmet rig on.

And we'll see what we can find.

If anything, at least all

know, you know, that I gave

it my best shot here.

So, especially if the guy is

still alive in there.

There's no way I'm going to

be able to live with myself

if I don't go check.

So, wish me luck.

Get your sh*t together.
