This tiny car took the
planet by storm selling

over four and a half
million of worldwide.

Created back in 1959 by Alec

It's a go nice each cheeky
looks and clever design went on

to symbolize the 60s
along with miniskirts and

beat combos This car
summed up the best of British.

This 20th century icon still has a massive.


to celebrate 50 years in a mini

I've got a major plan buy a cheap little
runabout and create a one-off eye-catching.

customized Wheeler dealer special.

I've got up to five grand
to spend in total. But

first I've got to find the
perfect second-hand motor.

And hopefully this is gonna be one of
the easiest Wheeler dealer searches ever

There are plenty of minis out there
all ages and all prices. Oh, yum-yum.

Right.

problem I've got.

Is it in the papers? There are
actually tons and tons of minis for sale.

And they all look all right.
They look like the right price

They look like fairly decent
cars and there creates a dilemma

But I think to celebrate 50
years in a mini and make

our car a little bit different
is where we'll earn a few

Quid so what I'm
looking for is a car that's

maybe a little bit run
down a little bit tired

Something that we can turn
round and make it special.

So I'm looking for a structurally
sound car with decent

mechanicals and I don't want
to spend more than a grand.

There's a couple of cars in
there that have caught my

attention. There's one
in particular. It's local

as well So it's not
too far from it to go to.

Doesn't sound too bad,
but while I was on the

phone to him, I've
noticed another one here.

Which has also got my
it's a little mini thousand.

It's a city. It's in black. It's got a
sporty exhaust It's a little bit more money.


I think worth a call.

Well, there you go a good morning's work

Sat here with the papers
and I found a couple of

cars for me to go and
have a look at I think the next

Thing to do is really get on the road.

Mini as you know,
I'm looking for a cheap

affordable one. This
could be the car for me

I've come down to see
this little mini and it's only.



Which means there
could be a good profit in it if

I feel that we could turn
it around in some way.

It looks alright, doesn't it?
It's not bad. It's got a metallic

green paint color So it has
been repainted once in its life

I can see a little bit of
rust creeping in on the

top wings got a nice chrome grill at the
front Aha, but this doesn't look good this.

The little beast card
underneath to protect the man's

driveway because obviously
this car drops a lot of oil.

And let me tell you that isn't good.

Okay, it's got a walnut
dashboard and the keys are in it so.

Oh.

The battery's flat.

Hmm so bodywork woes
and mechanical troubles at

first glance is 550 quid
mini looks like a cheap deal

But factor in a couple of
grand for those repairs and I

can't ever see us getting our
money back and therein lies

That car's problem.
There's just no profit in it for me and Ed.

We Need a car with a sound
body and engine so we can spend

our money on the fun stuff
that will make our car unique

Right. I'm off to
see another mini that

sounds tidy, but it's a
bit more expensive at.

So come and look at this the
little mini that I've been sourcing.

And this must be the owner
Adam. Yes, Mike. Hello. Hey, you're

right. Okay. Thanks. All
right to have a look at the boot

Okay, because the first
signs to check on any little car

especially a mini the
signs of us are in the boot lid

And as you can see, there's a bit of surface
rust in here, but that is all there is.

Surface rust there's no evidence of rot
getting into the floor pan of this motor.

All these wheels are
a bit sad that the old

steel wheels and they
yeah Alright inside. Oh.

Yeah, it's like me grands from broom, isn't
it? I mean it's a bit old people's own

I think it's retro you think
is kind of retro. Well, I'll tell

you what this old dashboard is
the the later edition dashboard

It's not very nice. I prefer the old
one with a big clock in the middle.

But I'll see you've had a go at changing
some of the door handle furniture

I think all it needs is
a decent set of seats

inside and a little bit
of a left. It'll be alright.

Engine right table. Oh, yeah, sure.

All right, it's a bit of a mess but it runs
well full savage history of it long mo t

So you have really looked after it? Yeah.
Okay, cool. Just these tidy enough.

Right. Well, I like it
so far. All I need to

do is take over a bit
of a spin. Is that right?

That is fine.

Fantastic, you know, I
think that every single person

in the UK should own a
mini at one time of their life.

All right, this little
mini looks a bit rough

and ready but
mechanically it seems good

And the one thing about this
little car is its engine. It's so perky.

The gearbox is as good
as any I can remember.

This little mini is
ticking all my boxes,

but only if I can get
it at the right price.

The only woes I've got
are the other problems and

that really the exterior
and interior on the exterior

There's those bits of rust then well,
there's the interior and just look at it

I mean we might have to do
something with this maybe some

trendy seats and change the
dashboard in some kind of way

So for that, I'm actually gonna
bid him a hundred pound less.


a fair price for a fair little motor.

Oh.

Well, I'm gonna be honest with
you Adam, there's no denying

how well this little car drives
mechanically Wow spot-on

Do you know a mini
was my first ever car little


over again Oh, you don't look it.

Very good. Well, I really like it. So I'll
tell you what, I'll give you 650 quid now

And I'll take it off your hands and I'm
away you better than that Mike come on

It's got a full MOT ten
months tax, but it also

needs a new interior. It
needs a new set of wheels

It's mechanically sound
what you're saying then

Give me 700. It's yours 700 quid.
Hold out your end.

You got yourself a deal.

So a mini for small change,
that's great now I could enjoy

the blast back to the workshop
to show Ed our new toy.

The more I drive this car the
more I'm falling in love of it.

And there's a good reason for that there's
been people for the last 50 years have been

Celebrating just that good
the little mini is and that got me

thinking about what to do with a
little car when Ed sees it because I

Reckon we should celebrate


crowded mini market. Our
car has to make a big impact

So, how do we do that?
Well outside and inside it will

need a complete overhaul. I
know if anyone can do it Ed can.

Okay, what do you reckon Okay, it's like
a mini thousands. It's a bit underwhelming

to be honest. Mini is
celebrating its 50th birthday

So we're gonna celebrate it
in style with a fairly Monday.

Cooper that'll be nice.
We couldn't afford a mini Cooper

So I forget this and it's a
cracking little car. Look, you'll

like it under here. Okay, look ignore
the bits of gaffer tape Yeah, okay

So it's been I didn't
sound like it was running

really nice drives like an
absolute dream this car

So there's nothing mechanically
to do to it. It's all right.

I look a lot better in there.
I think you're testing now

There's obviously this
paint problem, right? It's a bit

patchwork quilt at the
moment. It is a little isn't it?

I think I mean the rest
of the paints kind of

Okay, but clearly needs some work
to make it look a bit more pleasant.

And the wheels are
pretty shoddy as well aren't

they so many different
sets of mini wheels.

Thousands of them so we
can easily get another set

of wheels. Yeah. Now.
I know you're a tall chap

I have a sit inside there.
It's soon on my way

I don't think I want that
but it does somehow.

Some headroom as well. She's quiet.
It's very bland in here is what I'm saying

I mean like the dashboards
a bit dull the seats of it.

You know, I reckon you could do
something smart on a dashboard

Well, I think it's just
the hang up at the

whole car just needs
to be kind of juzed up.

Why are you there the chokes
broken? Oh, okay. Not too

difficult a job. So I should
be alright and I'll tell you what.

We've got some money to play with really.
Yeah.

Because well, how
much did you pay come on

how much you pay 700 quid for it? That's
okay So it means I've got loads of money

I want to keep the budget
small. We just want to sort of

celebrate the minis 50th
year in some kind of funky way

I'll leave that up to your imagination.
It's a tall order for a short car

But if anyone can do it
you can so as ever I put my

faith in my head to turn
our standard mini into a


model get it right and I

reckon we could sell our
one offer over two grand

I'm looking forward to
see what it comes up with

Our Wheeler dealer mission is
to buy restore and sell on classic

cars and I gave just 700 quid
for this little mini thousand.

I've got a total budget
of five grand. So

we're gonna have to
have some fun with this one

So mechanically a little mini is
fighting fit the only woes I've got

are the other problems and
that really the exterior and interior.

With its dull paint and dated gray interior

This is the perfect blank
canvas for Ed to create

something special for
the minis 50th birthday.

Now despite it being such a very small car

I've already got a very big list of
things I need to do so I best crack on.

Before I can turn this
little classic into something

special I've got to
strip that tired exterior.

Now if you're taking electrical
stuff off like I'm about to do I

would recommend drawing a diagram
doing some labeling just so you know

When you come back together again
where everything is supposed to go.

This tacky number plate
is heading for the bin.

And so are these nasty clear rear lights.

And moving the fuel tank
out is my last exterior job.

Stripping the mini is
going really well. It turns

out Mike has got a
really great little car now

I've got a few ideas about what I want to
do But ultimately I want a car that stands

out. There's a real
eye-catching one-off now

I can't really bring
myself to mess with

those lovely classic
lines and let's face it

Respraying with a special
paint has been done to death

now what I do have in mind
needs a bit more research

But ultimately I'm gonna bring
together a couple of the aspects

of those 50 years of history to
make a really special little car.

But I am quite some way from
getting on with all the fun stuff

So I do need to crack on
with the rest of the work.

Despite what Mike tells me
I always do a survey of each

car to make sure I'm a
hundred percent happy with it

And sometimes I turn up something
that has passed in by this time

It's some radius arm bearings
which are worn and could

do with being replaced. I
don't know what's Mike like

I was hoping for an easy transformation But
having taken the wheel off I can now see

how much I've got to
do just to change up

I'm over there's tons and tons and it's
all really dirty. It's been there for ages

I need to clean it all
off and then I get some

penetrating fluid in there.
Hopefully it'll be easier.

The radius arm is a key
part of the trailing arm

Suspension system if the bearing
assembly inside the arm is worn

excessively the car will wander from
side to side or crab across the road

It's a common MOT
failure. It's best to replace

the whole thing with
a refurbed radius arm.

Forming a plan now My plan is if I can
if I can disconnect this handbrake cable

From this part of the hub and then I'm just
trying to free it off from this guide here

Then what I can do hopefully
is then take this out of the way

Maybe remove the entire
trailing arm put it on the bench and

then stop everything over
there. I've got a bit more space.

Getting the nearside radius arm
out means I need to disconnect

both the hydraulic brake
pipe and the handbrake cable

There we go. The handbrake
is at least released at that end.

So now the cable is now actually
removed from our trailing arm.

So now the next bit this chap here.

It's time to remove the
drum. So I'm using a

special tool to back
off the brake shoes now

I've got my special
adjuster pop it onto

there and I'm just
gonna wind it's basically.

Kind of a bolt with a point on the end
like a taper and that winds in to the shoes

I'm just gonna Wind
that back off a little bit.

Now is a good time to check the drum for
wear and replace if necessary ours is fine.

Now the penetrating fluid
should have had time to work now

So first of all, I'm just
gonna clamp the brake pipe

This little natty little
effectively pair of

pliers or pipe pliers. So
just wind that up there

So that should stop the
fluid leaking out too quickly.

Now I'm just gonna.

Crack off.

These two nuts this is the
nut actually onto the brake pipe.

Okay, so that is now the
flexi disconnected from

the trailing arm, so
we're slowly getting there.

With the handbrake free
and brakes disconnected.

I can crack off the
inner radius arm nut.

But while I'm under here,
it's pretty awesome to

think that when is again
this design the mini.

He really was so far ahead of his time

There are so many little
features on this car that were

Revolutionary one of them
being these rear and front

sub frames with the body
kind of stuck in between

At the time when you think about most cars
were had a chassis with the body sat on top

And this is so clever. It
made things a lot quicker

to build many things a lot
cheaper to make as well.

With just the final fixings to go I can
free off the whole trailing arm section

I'll then be able to get
access to the radius

arm, which is the part
that needs replacing.

Well, that was a long
half-hour there we go finally.

Where's our worn trailing on
and there's a lovely new one

So all I have to do
really is just unbolt things

off here and bolt it
onto there. Very simple.

Now This is actually a
very simple assembly

But when you are
swapping loads of parts from

one old useless part
to a nice new shiny one

It makes sense to do one piece at a
time and that way you'll know for sure

That it's in the right
place and also in the right

orientation. I'm checking
all the components as I go.

They're all in good Nick.
So now they just bolt back on.

There we go, that's all
attached so now I have

to try and pick this
up get it on the car.

And hopefully it should
all just whizz back together

nice and easily. So
we're finally getting there.

The radius arm cost
just 20 quid and the good

news is I only need
to replace this side.

Just keep checking that's the
thing not to rush it and just to

keep checking that you've got
everything where it should be.

Once the radius arm has
been offered up and secured

I've still got to reconnect
the brakes and then

bleed them thoroughly with
the help of my mate Paul.

As you can see it's a lot easier
with two people what's the puddle like.

Yeah, really good. Cool.
We have a good pedal the brakes are done.

Well, we're not finished
just yet because main

reason that this radius
arm had to be changed.

It's probably because the bearings
hadn't been greased. So that

is what I have to do before I
can say this job is truly done.

This g*n pumps grease
straight into the bearing

and should protect it
for years to come. Oh

There we go. Some grease is just
squished out from behind that rubber seal

Which means the radius arm is on
those bearings are greased properly

and now this thing is going to
handle like it was designed to I

Really want to transform this car, but as
always I've got to be mindful of the budget

But I think on this occasion
we have to stretch ourselves

just a little bit because
this dull gray bland interior

Isn't doing the car any favors at all

It deserves something more
desirable something more stylish

now source in that interior
is really Mike's department

But as far as I'm
concerned whatever happens

this interior needs
to be out of this car.

Now I'm just popping off
all the stuff on the door card

Let's clever little tool here just help
separate the door card from the metal

So you can just pop the
poppers with that risk of

damaging them. I'm just
gonna go around the whole.

And I find it'll stop right there.
Just pop it and it just separates the two.

We're gonna have to change
these because they are pretty nasty

because they match the interior
which will also be changing.

I'm going to ask Mike to find a
completely new interior for the car

So I'm going to remove
everything and store it

carefully just in case
anything needs to go back on.

The seats sit on runners that bolt to
the floor so removing them is really easy

The mini supports a huge
aftermarket parts business

So there will be plenty of
alternatives body hugging race seats

retro buckets or full leather
whatever you want. It's out there.

Have been very busy
doing a lot of prep work here

I mean first of all, I got my
hands dirty and I'm quite surprised

Did you not notice the car was
kind of steering from the back end?

We it's a mini yet. They
steer into the corners really

talk, you know bit squishy
on the rear is wicked

No, they're not they're
normally quite nice and tight

And the problem is our radius
on the bearings were shot

And so of course the
wheel was moving around

so actually was trying
to influence the car

But now I've sorted it
so should handle a dream

So we've got a car that mechanically
is fine. What about the interior?

Well, that was pants wasn't it
had to go so I've taken all that out

And I kind of need you to get
me some new seats some rear

seat covers carpets door
cards and also that dashboard

I hate the twin does I want
that lovely classic. Whoa.

Whoa. Whoa. So you want me?
Yeah, so go out do some work

Yeah, mate.
There are loads of mini shops out there.

You'll be able to go to one
and buy everything what you

can do about this exterior.
I've got such a wicked idea

We're gonna vinyl wrap it.
It's a big sticker

That's gonna tell you transform
the car, but what's really cool

is I found this new stuff which
looks like textured carbon fiber

It's gonna look really
trick. Well, I'll go with you.

But what about the shape
of the minute? It's a bit curvy

Why don't we end
up with wrinkles and

crinkles? No, no, no,
it's designed for the job

It's gonna lift our 20th century icon into
the 21st century. It's gonna look so trick

So I'll do the interior you do
the exterior deal feel top work.

We bought the mini
for just 700 quid and

despite outward
appearances it is a solid motor.

Oh.

Fantastic, you know, I
think that every single person

one-off customized mini of

our dreams to celebrate
the car's 50th birthday.

We've stripped the interior
and exterior of the car and

Ed's fix the suspension problem
by replacing the radius arm.

We really need a spectacular.

exterior and interior

Transformation to
make the most of our mini

and Ed still got to sort
out that broken joke.

So there's lots to do but we've still
got plenty of our five grand budget left.

Now our goal is to make
some money but to also

have some fun along the
way if we can get this car

Into tip-top condition then we want to
take it back to the place where it was born

Long bridge in the Midlands
and they're gonna be

holding one of Minnie's
biggest 50th birthday bashes

We plan to show the
car to thousands of fans

and hopefully sell it
on talk about pressure.

First I'm gonna tackle the
engine bay replacing the HT lead is

a quick job that looks good and
helps maintain a healthy spark.

And already it's been it's beginning
to look a little bit smarter so all the

Ignition needs done and
before I am finished with this

job. I think it's nice to dress up this
coil as well nice bit of stainless steel.

So now the last thing is
a nice new rocker cover

as well, I think I'll do
is undo it first of all.

There's nothing wrong with
the oily old rocker cover but

a shiny new one looks the
part and only cost 20 pounds.

You Know what this is looking okay
sure if we had unlimited time and money

I'd take the engine out
paint the block chrome

everything else make
it look really sexy.

But for a few quid and
a bit of time, I've actually

lifted this engine
beautifully engine bling

complete now I've got
to sort out that choke

I'm actually gonna have a look at
the choke cable because Mike said

there was something wrong with it
and perhaps something wrong with the

Cold starting so Paul. Can you just
pull that choke cable for us? Oh my word.

Okay.

So it's not looking
so good I think we'll fix

that you have a replacement which
is very handy All I have to do is undo.

This little chocolate block
here. I'll pull it through

stop it for another cable
shouldn't be a problem at all.

The choke restricts the amount of air going
into the carburetor when starting cold

Essential on an old car
like this with such a small

engine. So I've got to replace
that broken choke cable.

I'm now going to be
using a very clever little

tool. It's just a piece of
metal. Very very simple

I'm actually gonna tape
it to this choke cable

like so. Okay, Paul if
you can pull that away.

Get in there once Paul has
pulled the old choke cable

through the bulkhead
with the metal rod taped to it

That old cable is thrown away
and the new one stuck onto the rod

This is then fed back through
the bulkhead and the rod

is removed making sure
to fit a nut on the end of the

New cable so it can be
tightened onto the dashboard

And I can then secure
the other end to the choke

mechanism itself.
Okay. Okay, here we go.

Okay Paul Yeah, so
just pull it through. Yep.

How are we going.

Looks like it's snagged a little bit.

How much more is that
it? Yeah cool. So now

I'm just gonna unravel
all this masking tape

I've replaced the dodgy old
chocolate block connector with a

more reliable drilled bolt to
make sure that the choke works

Well should be about
it. Okay, Paul. Just

gonna give it a go. Just
see what it looks like Okay.

And is that on maximum?
Yep, brilliant. Okay. How

does it feel? Yes good cool. Well, there
we go We now have a nice new choke cable.

Ed's giving me an order for a retro
dashboard. So I'm off to find some 60s glam.

Wow, what a place. What
do you do in here? We do

everything like it's like a
one-stop shop for everything

We do MG, Triumph, Mini, J.
Right, so you know what I'm looking for?

Yep, we want to take that
horrible dashboard output

an original dashboard in
so what the parts I need

Okay, right. You're gonna need
start you off. You need to binnacle.

Fantastic since a binnacle.

Okay. Yeah, I can see
that so that's where the

speedo goes. Yeah, you
got your crumb trim ring

Which goes with that so that goes
around the outside of the binnacle.

That's gonna be smart,
isn't it? Lovely. Yeah,

I'll have one of them.
What else will I need?

Okay, you also gonna need
the wiring loom as well convert

it over not all of that You
should keep it busy for a while.

That will keep her
busy that's why I've got

an head it looks like
it's forgetting to me.

You know what to do
with it. I'm sure now. I'm

gonna need to know how
fast I'm going. Surely on

Oh, yeah, what you want is
this the main speedo head itself

original star cupress 130
mile-an-hour speedo. Very nice.


mile an hour and it's a proper Smith's way

I mean that's perfect, isn't
it? Really original stuff. What's

gonna transform the car? I
suppose all I need to do now.

Thank you for it all the worst bit.

I'm really pleased with the dash
parts that Mike's bought and I'm getting

straight down to building up this central
binnacle because I'm under pressure

To make that Longbridge
mini event the dials are fixed

in position and then it's
time to run the electrics

Now if you're not sure what color wires go
where check the Internet maybe ask a friend

Of course, somebody knows
what they're doing with this

sort of stuff. Maybe even
just compare it to an old mini

I've got a couple of other wires here
just gonna pop those into position as well.

Cool. Okay.
So now we can fit the speedo to the mini.

Before I begin work
connecting the electrics Paul

disconnects the battery
an essential safety tip.

Got a nice new dashboard.
I got a hard little wires.

We've got to connect up.
This is a special wiring adapter.

This is what normally goes into
the dashboard that came with the car

You can see what I gotta
do is gonna cut this off

I just kind of sold all
these back together

again. And first of
all, I'm just gonna tin.

The wires, okay

It's a bit of solders put a bit on
the iron and then a bit onto the wine

Just tin that and do the
same at this end. Just let

the solder flow. So now
I hold the two together.

And stay really still and then.

This is where a heat shrink comes
into play. So this is just basically a

Quite a clever rubber that's
being stretched during production

I just apply some heat then that
way it will shrink around your join

Hopefully end up with a nice
waterproof and of course insulated

joy. So there we go that
one done just ten more to go.

All the wires are color-coded.
So I'm using those as my soldering guide.

As you can see is a bit of a struggle
for me to work inside one of these cars

Especially on such intricate
work, but it is well worth

that struggle because once
this speedo is in position

I think we'll have given the mini back
its soul. It's gonna be so well worth it. I

Finished all of the soldering so
now I can start connecting up things

like the oil pressure Gauge now
Paul has already done the business

End in the engine itself.
So what's going to happen now?

You turn the engine on
oil is going to come up with

this tube and push on
the back of the Gauge itself

So it's kind of mechanical but
it is actually using hydraulics

if you like now because there
is going to be all under pressure

In here. I've got a little
fiber washer to help seal

things. I want to make
sure that is seated perfectly.

Otherwise, we're going to end up with letters
of oil down the back of our dashboard.

Maybe finger tight and then
just nip it up just a little bit more.

We don't want to crush the washer.

Next I've got to connect the
speedometer cable without

disturbing any of the
electrics. I've just fitted.

The other problem I've got
to try and get the little square

end of the center of the speedo
cable actually into the right

Part of the dial. There we go.
That's the speedo cable connected up

So I'm just gonna pop
that back into position now.

Before I can actually bolt
this to the dashboard to the

bulkhead. What I want to do
is make sure everything works

So first thing I'm just gonna
turn on the ignition now

I've got Paul to connect
the battery up again for us.

There we go. Look at that's a good start.
So straight away

We've got the ignition
lights come on as if I turn

this on we should now get
oil pressure working as well.

There you go straight up with
the oil pressure that's really cool.

And you know, I've got water
temperature as well coming up,

which is good and you can see
the fuel Gauge is working as well

Well, there we go.
So our dashboard works beautifully.

And I suppose actually
because I'm on the ramp I

could be a bit naughty
if I just put it into gear.

and then.

So there he goes even the speedo works.

It's fantastic. So basically
everything works on

the dashboard. So now
we can bolt it to the car

What a result the car
is coming on but with a

big mini event at Longbridge
just a few days away

I'm worried and won't get the
interior and exterior done in time

I reckon I can G up the crowd of mini
fans and get the car sold for big money

But only if we can make it
to the show hurry up head.

I Bought this mini for a bargain


working hard to create a one-off

customized car to celebrate


We plan to sell the car on a
big mini event in just a few days

Ed and his mate Paul are working all hours
to revamp the whole interior and exterior.

Our original mini interior
was nasty and gray and drab

So I thought we'd smarten
things up with a nice new black

interior. We've got these
fantastic new bucket seats

But of course before
we can fit these we've

got a lot of other
stuff to fit. We have got

Door cards interior cars. We've
got some new black carpet as

well. We've even got PVC
covers for the original rear seats.

By doing this interior refit. I'm probably
saving around 200 pounds in labor.

And it really is something anyone
with a basic toolkit can tackle.

That's the joy of the mini.

a Little bit of
contact adhesive.

The carpet goes in nice and easily.

Our mini is coming along great g*ns

We've lifted the engine and
that interior is looking really

really harks back to the origins of the
mini Whoever ends up with this car is really

gonna love it if they
don't they must be mad.

Oh.

It's only days until the Longbridge show

So it's all hands to the
pumps as we clean up the

bodywork ready to transform
the outside of our mini.

James a vinyl wrap expert is here to
help us apply our carbon fiber finish.

Okay. Well, the car is now
clean. So we've got a rough cut

of the vinyl ready to go on
So what do we have to do next?

We're gonna start by
doing is taking it away from

the vehicle right and we're
gonna expose the adhesive

So if you can just give
me your backing paper

there, all right, I'll peel that away.
That's great Just take a step back for me.

Okay. Now when we hold this
we're gonna offer it up to the vehicle

But what I'd like is a drum skin So if you
can put it nice and keep it nice and taut

You're gonna offer it onto the vehicle
making sure that we cover all the edges

It's gonna tack on to that
middle section and then you

can just tack it onto your
wing or any other high point

You have there and
then what I'm gonna do is

just take a very simple
tool my felt squeegee

The idea of the felt squeegee
is it helps to protect the vinyls.

We don't actually scratch
the material as we put

it and lay it onto the
surface of the paintwork

Now as you can see, it's
forming very small creases Yeah

Now I'd like you
to do is just lift that

material up again
keeping it nice and tight.

And lift it back up. So we get to a
nice clean fitting line. That's great

Now hold it back down. Hold it as
shallow as you can to the vehicle

Okay, and then we're
just gonna continue to push

the air out. It looks
so cool. This is wicked.

Normally when you see a full vinyl wrap,
it's in full color and use for advertising

But of course there are hundreds of
different kinds of specialist vinyl like

this one which are going to be used
for things like detailing and customizing.

Now I have it on good authority that our
mini is going to be the first in the world

That's going to be
covered fully in this

material. Now. That is
a Wheeler-dealer first.

Thankfully the vinyl wrapping
process happens very

fast, but it's not long
before I'm in trouble.

If I was left to my own
devices this car would be

wrecked in about half an hour. It's
just a disaster. I Need some help. Okay.

Back up again, very gently.

Give it a small amount
of heat just to take

out any make it all
back lifting material up.

So what the heat g*n does
effectively kind of relaxes the material

So it goes back to the size on the
shape that it was originally made in

So all those creases
and dings I've just put in

then get kind of like
worked out, which is fantastic

So then if I leave a little bit goes
cools down I can then reapply it

Hopefully with James's help we're
gonna rescue this side. Thank you, sir.

And while we're doing this Paul is
put all the bright work back on for us.

The old chrome and body
parts were in good Nick so we're

refitting them to save time
and money sourcing new stuff.

Something else that's
synonymous with mini over

its last 50 years of course
is the mini Cooper now

We haven't got the
time all the money to

put in a nice Cooper
engine all those brakes

But how about you pay
just a little bit of homage

to it with some nice
little white bonnet stripes.

This modern wrap is
making our mini look fantastic

But I think we can raise the
bar even higher and celebrate

this brilliant British icon
and James has just the thing.

The Carbon fiber material costs.


than a respray and it makes

a much bigger impact than
a new lick of paint would.

And we completed this
superb job in only eight hours.

The mini is almost finished But the final
touches to bin these horrid steel wheels

and give the mini some
of those famous mini lights.

you When Mike first
turned up with his tired old

mini clearly it needed
some TLC it needed a lift

And when you think of the
sheer number of minis that

we made over the years
and then think about all that

Customization and
restoration that's been done

trying to come up with a
mini. That's a bit original

It's really quite a tall order,
but I think we've actually

done that we've got
something that's totally unique.

I We bought this little mini
thousand iron a goal in mind make

a mini worthy of celebrating


I dropped off the mini with Ed and thought
to get straight on with the transformation

But he quickly discovered the suspension
radius arm needed to be refurbished.

Problem-sorted and it was on with
stripping the interior and exterior.

And cleaned up the engine
bay and replaced the choke

cable a vital mechanical
job before we got creative.

Inside a retro dash pinnacle halved
back to the minutes glory days.

Bucket seats new carpets and door cars
lifted the interior and gave it a modern feel

I was excited about the carbon
fiber vinyl wrap and it didn't

disappoint. There isn't another
mini like this one on the planet.

And those 50th anniversary
gold wheels were

the final touch we've
made a mini look magical.

How much did we spend on the mini?

I gave just 700 pounds
for the car Ed mended the

suspension fault with a 20
quid refurbished radius arm

The interior revamp cost two
hundred and twenty pounds

I laid out four hundred for
the new seats and carpets

the vinyl wrap cost six
hundred and seventy quid

Those dazzling aloys came in
at two hundred and the engine

parts and other accessories
cost 80 the total came in at.



Wow, look at it. It's brilliant

I sort of had in my head
and we could turn out

but never knew it looked
this good. Well done

Well, it is it is very very cool. What do
you think of the wrap? I love the wrap

I love the detailing on the roof when it
union jerk. Oh what the wheels look at that

Perfect in the interior Absolutely.
Well, you've done it again, ain't you?

I think so I think we've certainly
created something unique and you

know what because it is
special and on one-off mini fans

They love that and they
will be prepared to pay for it

And the only way to find
out how much this car's

worth is if we take it to
that mini bash and get it

I'm gonna be the auctioneer.

first car for one lucky driver.

We were mighty pleased
with the price because

that meant we'd made over 300 quid on
the car Not a fortune, but on this project.

It was all about giving
the mini a fiftieth birthday

party to remember and I
think we really pulled it off.

Well, my heart was in
my mouth for a lot of it,

but you did the work.
