This week's challenge, bring an extinct DeLorean
back to life as a hovercraft from hell.
New garage, new rules.
When built, the Monster Machine
must still appear to be stock.
The team will now have $5,000 to spend on parts
and be limited to just one freebie.
They have seven days and nights.
On the first day they design, for the next five they build.
And on the seventh, the Monster Challenge.
If successful, each team member takes home a $3,400 set
of Mac tools and the clock starts now.

- Now wait a minute now.
I got a customer with 500,000 miles on that car.
- [Jesse] Whatever.
- [Narrator] Jesse might not like DeLoreans,
but Don Steger has made them his life's work.

and I do transmissions, I do electrical, I do body work.
I tear 'em apart, rebuild 'em again while I do everything.

Plus it's a DeLorean, which is a car company that failed.
And two, we're making a hovercraft, which, you know,
I know you built one before and everything,
but to me it doesn't make any sense.
We could gold plate the whole thing
and it's not gonna be better.

DeLorean diehard Don Steger returns
from Garden Grove, California.
At his side, from northern Illinois,
Rich Weissenel, DeLorean owner and hovercraft hobbyist.
John Rago brings his fabricating skills
from Highland, California.
From Inglewood, California, car mechanic
Casey Heller is here to hover.

Rick Gendreau from Pembroke, New Hampshire.

- The thing that worries me most is getting the engine in
there and bolted safely.
- [Narrator] What's the best remedy for worry?
Work.
- I'm making some shackles, so I'll hold the pipe in place

he cuts out and punches holes in
some square pieces of metal.
Then he makes some steel collars using the tube bender.
