12x18 - Rebirth of Monster Red

Post by bunniefuu »

[Parker Schnabel]
I just got back from Alaska
and that went decent.

Here, in the Klondike,
Mud Mountain,

we did our first cleanup there
and it was not great.

It's not even good.

[narrator] 27-year-old
Parker Schnabel

started the season
running out of ground,

forcing him to take on
Mud Mountain,

a 60-foot deep cut
that could hold

But, with winter
just weeks away,

it's only delivered 165.

[Parker] At only an ounce
or two an hour,

it's definitely not
looking too promising,

yeah.

So, it better pick up

because we spent a lot
of money stripping that.

[narrator]
Foreman Mitch Blaschke

is charged with

running Mud Mountain pay
through wash plant, Big Red.

Mud Mountain is
the deepest cut that we've
done so far to date

and we've put a lot of
money and time into it.

We're gonna need
to have consistently

good cleanups here

and some really good ones,
uh, to pay for this.

Even though Big Red's
not doing great,

Sluicifer continues to do
all right at Ken and Stuart's.

And they're just about
done with the Good Cut.

And we're about to
go to the Bad Cut.

I hope Ken's wrong
about that

because if that's
the good stuff,

then the bad stuff's
gonna be really bad.

[narrator]
At the Promised Land,

Parker opened up three cuts,

totaling 19 acres.

The good, the bad
and the ugly.

After eight weeks' mining,
Tyson has just finished

the Good Cut.

Now, he'll move
to the Bad Cut,

which earned its name
from poor test results,

before finishing the season
on the Ugly cut.

- [Tyson] How's it going, man?
- Good, how are you?

Good, thanks. You called?

We've got a lot of ground
to get through

in a pretty short amount
of time down there

- at Ken and Stuart's.
- Mmm-hmm.

And we're a bit behind.

You're gonna be down there
on your own

- because everybody else is spread really thin.
- Yeah.

Just hammer out the yardage
as soon as you're
fired up and rolling.

For sure. Do my best.

- All right, thanks, T.
- Thanks, man.

Sluicifer is a plant that
requires a lot of maintenance

and it definitely doesn't like
running in the cold weather.

So, the harder
we hammer it now,

hopefully, the sooner
we're done and the less
bad weather we have to fight.

So, hopefully, Tyson can
get her done.

[Tyson] If we can keep
Sluicifer running in
the Bad Cut here,

twenty-four hours a day,
I envision it will take
three weeks

to get the Bad Cut
through Sluicifer,
the gold in the jar,

and then we can
move to Ugly.

Right now, I'm just prepping
the wash plant pad.

So, just trying to move
as little dirt as possible

and get it done
as quick as possible.

This wash plant pad
is very narrow, very short.

We're gonna be
fighting for space.

So, there we go.
Sluicifer's ready to
move to the Bad Cut.

- Do you want to spot me, Frog?
- Yep.

- [engine starts]
- [Frog] Pull, baby, pull.

[narrator] With all
the bigger machines

at Mud Mountain,

Tyson's stuck moving the plant
with a 480 excavator.

[engine revving]

[engine revving]

Yeah, you know,
I could definitely do with
a bigger machine but,

right now, we need to
make it work
with what we got.

As you can tell, I'm having
to slowly inch it up here.

[Frog] Hey, hey, hey! Whoa!

[creaking]

[Frog] You really are
at the edge there, eh.

[narrator] Out of space
on the pad, Tyson decides

to go over the edge.

[Frog] Wash plant
will hold ya.

We're about to find out.

[engine revving]

[Frog] You're on the ground.

Whoa, whoa!
You're on the money.

[narrator] Plant in place...

Probably wanna go
over this way a bit too.

...Tyson brings in
the 53-foot feed conveyor.

Sluicifer's in place,
the super stacker's in place.

[narrator] Just six hours
after leaving the Good Cut,

Tyson and his three-man crew
are ready to start running

Bad Cut pay.

Sweet, let's wash some rocks.

[machine powering up]

You ready, Frog?

I think I am.

Okay, go on,
throw the first scoop
in her.

[Frog] Just for you,
the first scoop.

Here we go.

[Tyson] There we go,
we're sluicing.

[beep] yeah.

[Tyson] Now we're in
the Bad Cut, hopefully,

she can go back
to what she does best,

catch gold and wash rocks.

[Fred Lewis] Last week
was pretty dismal,
we pulled six ounces of gold.

That is a horrible pull.

That's nowhere near what
we need to be pulling.

[narrator]
at California Creek,

special forces medic,
Fred Lewis, has gambled

everything he owns

on mining for Yukon gold.

We have to come out of the
Yukon with 100 ounces of gold

to be successful, bottom line.

At this point, we're not
on track to make that goal,

and that scares
the crap out of me.

[narrator]
Three-quarters of the way

through the season,

Fred's crew of military vets
have banked just

And now, the claim owners
are demanding

their first royalty payments.

I've got to go pay
my royalties to
Sandro and Joerg this week.

If we can't pick it up,
they're not gonna be
impressed by us

and they're not gonna
want us mining
on their claims.

There can't be
any more mistakes.

[narrator]
Infantry Scout sn*per

Stuart McKenzie

runs pay to the wash plant.

[Stuart] Gold is the reason
why we're here.

I'm here to make money
for my family.

So, going home empty-handed
is not an option.

[narrator] Green Beret
Rick Douglas loads the pay

into the plant.

The amount of gold
that we've pulled so far,

I mean, it's-- it is not what
I thought we would have had
by this time frame.

Most everybody is just
to the point where they're
just saying,

"You know what,
I just don't care anymore."

[narrator] Fred's son,
Christopher Parker,

clears the tailings.

A lot of us are
pretty [beep] down,
right now.

Our gold weigh-ins
haven't really been awesome.

So, I don't think
we're gonna hit our goal.

And I think everyone,
kind of, is also

thinking the same thing.

And the only one right now
who's currently having
hopes and dreams

is Fred.

Well, it's been raining since
nine o'clock last night,
and it has not stopped.

This is the least amount
of rain we've had in
almost 12 hours.

Water level is so high,
you can see it.

This creek is at capacity,

and if it wasn't for all
the berms that we constructed,

this creek would be
everywhere, flooded.

My major concern is
losing a major wall on
one of our retaining ponds.

If that were to happen,
all the sediment
would rush into the creek

and we would, for sure,
get a call from, uh,

the environmental police.

[narrator] Fred has built

to funnel water from the creek
into four settling ponds.

But, heavy rainfall
and runoff from the hill

has raised the water level
and eroded the berms.

If he doesn't fix them fast,
sediment from

the settling ponds

will flood into the creek.

Yeah, that creek can't
take much more of this.

We probably haven't even seen
the worst of the water

coming off the mountains.

It's a disaster
waiting to happen.

[narrator] If the creek
is contaminated,

Fred will be shut down

and his season will be over.

[Fred] [beep].

[narrator]
After heavy rainfall,

Fred Lewis' settling pond
berms are about to breach.

If silty water from
the wash plant gets

into the creek,

Fred could be fined
and shut down.

Well, as soon as the next
shift change gets here,

which is any minute,

we're gonna have to
be on creek maintenance
and, uh, salvage this cut.

We're gonna have to shut down.
If we don't make it right,

we're just
screwing ourselves over.

- All right.
- [crew member] Yeah.

[Fred] It doesn't do us
any good to cry about it.

We just need to get it fixed
as soon as we can

and get back up and running.

All right.

[Khara sighs]

[crew member] This is not
what we want to be doing.

The season is getting short.

[narrator] Fred must use
both his excavators...

[Fred] Holy crap!

[narrator] to raise
and save their ponds.

- Whoo-hoo!
- So, he has no choice

but to shut down the plant.

[machine powering down]

I'm on my way right now
to fix up a bunch of these
berms that have breached.

It has to get fixed before
we can start anything.

If this water gets into
our ponds, our wash pond,

our settling pond,
all of those,

it causes those to actually
breach back into
the natural stream.

If the Water Board were to
come out here,

we could actually get
shut down.

[Fred] But our ponds are
pretty much

the most important part
of the mine.

Without water being
held properly
and within regulation,

we can get shut down
pretty quick.

And, uh, right now,
we're sacrificing our
time to run pay

and we're building up
these berms.

Because this could be a far
bigger problem if it gets
worse than it is right now.

[Khara] It's hard
not to get upset.

It freakin' sucks.

The season's only going to get
shorter and shorter

every single day,
and we can't afford

to be shut down like this.

[Rick Ness] There's been
a lot of stress lately.

I've had no gold coming in,
just bills.

[narrator] Rick Ness
is on a mission

to hit 2,000 ounces of gold
from the deepest cut

he's ever mined.

[Rick] Last week, I was thrown
quite a big curveball.

I was not prepared
to hit pay so early

or to have so much of it.

I don't have Monster Red
setup to run it

and I don't even have
enough space to stockpile
all this pay

that's coming out of
the Rally Valley.

[narrator] Rick's hit
an unexpected score.

The 70-foot deep pay layer
he's been chasing

in Rally Valley

is actually 100-feet deep.

If he can run all the
nugget-rich pay before winter,

Rick could smash
his season goal

and haul in up to

over $5 million worth of gold.

[Rick] We're just gonna have
to fire up the wash plant,

start pounding yardage
through this thing.
It's crunch time.

Sure is nice
being off night shift.

I'm kinda torn.
I don't know if I'm happy
to have you back or not.

I know.

You'll, by the end of the day,
you'll, uh, probably not.

[both laugh]

[Brennan]
That thing sounds like
it's just gonna disintegrate

- when you pull up.
- [Chris laughs]

- What a beauty.
- Lot of miles on it.

What do you got in store
for us now?

- Got to get Monster Red up and running.
- Yeah, for sure.

I want this thing built
in 48 hours.

And by the end of day two,
I want it maxed out,

running all that pay
out of Rally Valley.

So we're gonna
be running around like
our pants are on fire

for the rest of the year.

- So...
- [laughs] Nothing new.

We're gonna
keep the plant simple.

No tailings conveyor,
no long-- no big, long feed
conveyor, nothing like that.

So I've got this
massive ELRUS feeder.

It's capable of, like,

It's literally twice
the size of the one
that we had last year.

[Brennan]
That's *bleep* sweet.

It's gonna give us everything
we need to be over 300 yards
an hour, legitimately.

- Right, we got a lot of work to do.
- Yeah, we do.

[machine engine starts]

[creaking]

Right now, I'm just prepping
the spot for where we're gonna
put the wash plant.

If we're gonna hit
our 2000-ounce goal,

we have no time
to
*bleep* around.

Prepared or not, we've got
two days to get this plant

up and running

'cause we can't afford to
be at a standstill like this

for any longer than that.

We're gonna have to
slap that thing together

as quick as we can.

[narrator]
In the off-season...

I do need to go bigger,
you know, there's no
doubt about it.

...Rick spent
over $100,000 making

Monster Red bulletproof.

[whirring]

Fabricating new parts
to catch Duncan Creek's

monster nuggets.

[Rick] I'm pretty sure
that we lost some good

size nuggets last year.

[narrator] And handle the
brutal rocky ground that

destroyed it two seasons ago.

[Rick] This is gonna
help us find more gold.

This is badass.

[narrator] Now, Rick's crew
must bring Monster Red

back from the dead

to take on the rocky,
nugget-rich Rally Valley.

Ooh.

[narrator] First up,
fit the new discharge chute.

Nailed it.

[Chris] You got to do
another shackle so
it's sitting straight.

- Right here.
- Yeah, buddy.

This is the final piece
of the puzzle to
our little discharge set up.

[narrator] Monster Red's
old discharge chute had

a metal plate on the outside

to guide tailings away
from the plant.

The new design
has rubber flaps

making it quicker
to clear rock jams

and prevent damage.

This is piece that me and Carl
built while we were out
in Colorado this winter.

And, um, I'll be honest,

I'm kinda excited
to see something I built
be put into use.

[machine whirring]

We ready to yank
this *bleep* in place?

[Brennan] Yeah, we just gotta
put the straps on the bucket
here and we'll be ready.

Oh, *bleep* you, bugs!

Okay, man,
she's all hooked up,
ready to roll.

[Rick] I'm gonna
yank her, then.

[creaking]

Oh, boy.

[scraping]

[creaking]

[Brennan] He's pullin' it
right into the *bleep* ground.

Our cables are short
and that chute's
sticking out in a way

that won't allow me
to get any real lift on it.

We need-- all we need
to do is get it up.

Get it to ride
up on top again.

[narrator] The heavy new chute
is stopping Rick from getting

enough lift on the tow.

[Rick] So we're gonna re-rig
around that beam

and that's part of the frame

so that should be
strong enough.

All I need is to get it up
ridin' up on top of
the dirt again

rather than diggin' in.

Monster Red, it's a half
a million dollar plant.

I'll k*ll everybody
if this thing breaks.

Like, there's no one
getting out of here alive.

I'll dig a giant hole,
I'll bury it

and I'll bury everybody
on site with it.

Okay, go straight up.

[creaking]

[thuds]

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa!

[Brennan] Just bent that
front frame in there.

No, really?

*bleep*

[narrator] At Duncan Creek...

Okay, go straight up.

[creaking]

[thuds]

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa!

[Brennan] Just bent that
front frame in there.

No, really?

[narrator] The resurrection
of Monster Red is flatlining.

[Brennan] Like, it's just
that cross beam.

*bleep*

[Rick] Let me, uh...
[bleeping]

Um...

[Brennan] What if we
just try and hook that
one outside strap?

You know what I mean?

And then you might
be able to just pull it up
on the ground here.

[Rick] Yeah.

[narrator] To avoid
any more damage,

Brennan replaces the strap
with a single cable

attached to the base.

[Brennan] Go up.

Come on, baby.

Oh, come on.

Yeah, keep going, gentle.

[creaking]

Go real gentle,
a little bit more.

I think if we get
the two hooked up,
it will be good.

Okay. Let's go hook
the other one up.

There you go.

Watch that chute.

Yeah, you're good.

[exhales]

[Brennan] That's probably
about where you want it.

We're finally just getting the
sluice runs hooked up here.

We're gonna walk them
to the wash plant.

Looking good.

[Rick] This is the last
sluice box that's got
to get put in place.

This is the nugget sluice.

We've never actually
used this on the plant before.

[thuds]

These things are all set,
they're in place.
Well done, boys.

[narrator] Rick just needs
his new hopper feeder

to arrive

before Monster Red's reborn

to run the richest pay dirt
he's ever mined.

[Rick] I'm so *bleep* excited.

Now we just gotta
get Monster Red running.

Doing that, we should be able
to smash 2,000 ounces.

I'm out!

[Parker] Tyson is still
plugging away.

You know, he's doing
a good job at keeping
the plants running.

The plant moves, it used to
just be a nightmare,

it seemed like.

But now, they're getting
them done pretty often
and pretty quick.

[narrator] Parker Schnabel
has tasked Sluicifer

plant boss, Tyson Lee,

with keeping the gold coming
in at the Bad Cut

to pay for his
Mud Mountain gamble.

I'm here in the hole,
armoring our bank
a little bit.

[rumbling]

I definitely don't
want it washing away on us.

When I first got here,
I was driving rock truck and

running the plant
my first year here and,

you know, it's definitely
come a long way.

[rattling]

[narrator] Maxed out,
Sluicifer runs 240 yards

of dirt an hour,

weighing in at around

[rumbling]

[rattling]

[Tyson] Nick!

Hey, Nick!

Frog?

Be ready to shut
her down. Looks like
our chute's backing up.

[machine engine stops]

[creaking]

It's not liking this metal.

It's just holding up
all the rocks.

I'm just gonna go
hit the breaker
and fire the shaker deck

- and see if it'll... but they were building right up.
- Oh, yeah.

[rattling]

All good.

[laughing]

Fresh metal's
got sharp edges, eh.

This cross piece here,
like, this is where
they were catching.

Yeah, right here as well.

- Yeah.
- We'll just tune all the edges down.

[Tyson] Well, because
we armored up the chute,

all the rocks are just
kinda coming down
and getting caught like that.

And then they build up
and they build up and they'll
build up into the shaker deck.

And the shaker deck will
power down 'cause it's
got too much weight in it.

This is definitely a little
bit of a hiccup right here.
Did not expect this at all.

[whirring]

The edges are a little
too sharp, the rocks
are getting caught.

We'll figure out if beveling
the edge like Nick's doing

is going to solve
the problem or not.

I almost
burnt this grinder out.

[Nick] I did not expect that--

[Tyson] Ooh,
that's hot right there.

We're turning 'er back on.

[machine engine starts]

Ready for water?

[hissing]

[whirring]

[rattling]

- We did it.
- [Tyson] *bleep* yeah.

Now it's back
up and running,

we'll figure out
what the Bad Cut
has in store for us.

[Fred] If everything's
going wrong, it could
go wrong right now.

[narrator]
At California Creek, just days

before his first royalties

are due to the claim owners,

Fred Lewis is shut down
as he battles to save

his ponds from bursting.

We're having to shut down
our wash plant and divert
to creek control

to keep our berms
from breaking.

It's a freakin' mess.

[Klint] Drop it all.

Yeah.

[Klint] Right now, it actually
is the really bad cliche

race against time.

All of this berm
is waterlogged.

And if we lose this,
then we lose that dam,
we lose that dam.

So losing this could be
a big nightmare.

[Buzz] Our main issue
is just this water.

I'm slowly getting
that under control
which is good.

If you don't comply with
the rules and regulations

that are set up by
the Water Board, you can
potentially be shut down.

You don't wanna mess
with them whatsoever.

[creaking and rambling]

*bleep*

Hey, JB, you copy on me?

[JB] Yeah, go ahead, Buzz.

I broke a freakin' pin man.

Gosh, man.

[JB] Oh, my gosh, man.

Yeah, this is, uh,

it's a big fix.

[narrator] At Fred Lewis'
claim, the race to fix the

berms has ground to a halt.

What's happened
here is the rail here,

it's about an inch
and a half diameter pin
that goes through there,

uh, they can break internally.

Yeah, we got to
get this done quick.

Yeah. Man, oh, man,
this sucks.

[blows raspberry]

[narrator] With JB and Buzz
busy fixing the track,

Fred takes over reinforcing
the berms in the one

working excavator.

[Fred] It just never stops.
Those tracks are the bane
of my existence.

This is costing us money.

Costing us money right now.
And, uh, I've spent enough.

Buzz, hopefully,
can get it fixed quick.

[narrator] This far north,
ordering a new pin

could take weeks.

But every second the 250
is down makes a catastrophic

flood more likely.

JB and Buzz's plan,
salvage and repurpose a pin

from scrap excavator tracks
in their neighbor's boneyard.

Let's hope for the best.

But expect the worst.

This one's got
a bushing or something.

[clanking]

Oh!

[JB] Look at that.

- An inch and a half.
- [Buzz] I see an inch and a half.

Ready for power.

[motor whirring]

[JB] Watch your eyes.

This is the pin
we actually need.

They're pressed in, all right?

So they're in
there pretty tight.

Uh, so we're gonna
attempt to cut the rail
itself off the pin.

There's one side.

[exclaims]

Looks good, other than
just being rusty, it's a--
looks like a new pin.

Fingers crossed it fits.

[narrator] Back at the claim,
the water is rising faster

than Fred can plug the gaps.

[Fred] This is a-- definitely
an area of concern.

Feel like I'm a medic again,
plugging holes after combat.

[narrator]
JB and Buzz need to fix

the 250 Excavator fast,

or their season could be over.

Blowing a hole through it.

- There it is.
- Boom.

[JB] So the true test is,
is this pin gonna work?

Oh, yeah, look at that.

She's gonna
go in there nice.

Yeah.

And then, uh,
in the receiving end,

at the, yeah...

All right, so we just got
one more to take out and

- let's put 'er back together.
- Yeah.

We got lucky.

It could have been
a week, two weeks,
before we get a pin,

you know, shipped up here.

We'll weld this sucker up,

and we'll freaking get
back to work, man.

We're done.

[narrator] With both
excavators back at work,

Fred's crew can finally
raise the berms

the six feet they need

to stop the silty water
flooding into the creek.

[Fred] Glad it's sealed up.

And I think we've got
these berms situated

for about the highest
our water is ever gonna be
all season.

And now I'm walking
the excavator back over

and get them back to
feeding the plant,

'cause it's time
to make some money.

[JB] It's time. We got to
get this rolling, man.

We're ready to roll.

You're ready for the pump, JB?

Yeah, roger that, Klint.
Thanks.

All right, I'm turning her on.

[narrator] Fixing the berms
has cost Fred four

valuable days of sluicing.

Now he has just two days
to catch the gold he needs

to pay his landlords.

[Fred] All this stuff is gonna
make it tough
to pay this royalty.

It's time
to start making money.

[Rick] It's crunch time
right now.

The leaves have all
changed already.

We are running
out of time quick.

[narrator] Rick Ness,
is racing to bring wash plant

Monster Red back to life,

so that he can finally
start running

the nugget-rich
Rally Valley pay dirt.

The final piece
is a new 66-foot-long

hopper feeder...

I wanna get up here too.

...capable of moving

allowing Rick to run
Monster Red four times faster

than his old wash plant.

[Rick] It's capable of
keeping up with

Monster Red and then some.

That's a piece of equipment
that I can grow into.

That's *bleep* huge.
[chuckles]

It's *bleep* go time.

Let us get this done.

I mean, these things are
made to be moved with a--
you know, a semi-tractor,

which I don't have and so...

this machine and excavator,

this is making me
*bleep* nervous.

[bleeping]

Shaky as *bleep*.

Your gonna have to lift that
conveyor with the loader.

[narrator]
Kyle, must lift the feed

conveyor on the hopper,

so as Rick edges it
toward Monster Red,

it will perfectly align
with the prewash.

[Rick]
Don't *bleep* it up, Kyle.

I'm on it.

Keep going.

Yeah.

[Rick] It looks good,
doesn't it?

[Nathan] It does.

It made me think, like,
all we've been doing is
putting money--

throwing money at
this thing for, what,
the last couple of years.

It's just kinda been
a big dumpster for money.

And so I kinda thought
I'd rename it the
"Monster Gold Dumpster."

[all laugh]

*bleep* yeah.

But anyways,
it's ready to *bleep* roll.

And we've got a huge amount
of pay to run through it.

So, let's fire it up
and see what Rally Valley
has to offer, right?

- Hell yeah.
- *bleep* go time.

Sounds *bleep* awesome.

*bleep* yeah, buddy!

Getting gold.

*bleep* yeah.

I can't wait, man, I wanna see
what deep cut has to offer.

[narrator] Two years
after being destroyed,

Monster Red is alive.

Running 300 yards an hour
of Rally Valley's

nugget-rich pay.

[Brennan] You know, this is
the moment we've been waiting
for the whole *bleep* season,

to get this wash plant set up
down here and start making us
some real money.

[narrator] Rick, is now
one step closer

to 2,000 ounces

and joining the big leagues.

[Rick] It's all
coming together.

It's been a stressful month,
not sluicing.

Well, all that's
about to change.

[Khara] Oh, I can't believe
I'm leaving already.

Biggest problem
I'm having right now

is I'm giving up my
most productive worker.

If it weren't for this job
that I've to rush home to,

- we wouldn't have the luxury being able to do this.
- I know.

Also, Emma starts high school
two weeks from today.

Do you really want
our youngest child
to start high school

without the support of
any of her family?

[Fred] Yeah, I know.

Sorry, I'm leaving.

It's okay.

Find lots of gold.

- Love you.
- Bye.

[Fred] No one is gonna
like hearing

this on the team

but I'll tell them all
to their face that they've got
some big shoes to fill

with her leaving
and they gotta step it up.

[Fred] This week has been
one of those weeks.

- Khara just left, it's frustrating.
- Yeah.

[narrator] Fred is down
a crew member

after wife, Khara,
had to leave for home,

and he owes royalty payments
to his landlords.

How many days or hours
were we running?

Um, you know, totally,
I'd say for the whole week,
we only ran three half-days.

Yeah, really?

Just because of all
the problems and everything
that went down.

- JB, I think it's your honor this time.
- All right.

There's one,

two,

three,

four...

come on--

five,

and... 5.6.

For the week this, uh,
this doesn't cover
our fuel bill.

[Buzz] We're going negative.

- We obviously need way more than this.
- Yeah.

So, you know,
this is what we get
when we run that much.

So we need to make sure every
chance we get, we're runnin'.

I'll get this to, Joerg,
and I'll deal with that

and see what, Sandro
and Joerg, say.

- *bleep* yeah.
- All right.

- Get back out there.
- Back to work.

We need four times this
every week.

[narrator] Fred and
brother-in-arms Klint

set off to Dawson

to pay claim owner Joerg
his 10% royalty.

Hello.

[narrator] With his season
total at 52.46 ounces,

Fred owes the entire weeks'
gold haul.

All right, there's your cut.

- Hopefully, it's bigger next time.
- Yeah.

[Joerg speaking]

[Fred] All right.

What up, Dozey?

How you doing, buddy?

[Doumitt] We got Sluicifer
all moved over?

Yeah, she is in the Bad Cut
and, hopefully, it's not bad.

So all in all,

- I mean, you know, we washed a lot of rocks.
- Yeah.

- How did it go?
- How did it go, well, you wanna check it out?

There you go.
Big Red, right there.

You ready?

[narrator] Parker, gambled
$4 million on Mud Mountain

in the hopes
of pulling out 8,000 ounces.

[Doumitt]
Let's see what we got here.

Twenty...

[narrator] He needs it to
deliver 400 ounces a week

just to recover his
investment.

One-seventy...

One-eighty...

[narrator] Worth $343,000.

So Mud Mountain, again,
is a little bit of
a disappointment.

[narrator] Next step,
Sluicifer,

after its move
to the Bad Cut.

- Here we go.
- Let's see it.

Ten...

Forty...

Eighty...

A hundred...

One-twenty...

One-forty...

- There you go.
- One-seventy... One-eighty.

[narrator] Worth $346,000.

The Bad Cut has delivered
more gold than Mud Mountain,

despite less run time.

- That's really good for a first cleanup.
- That is.

Yeah, oh, yeah.

- It's really good.
- Yeah.

- Probably one of the best, really.
- Yeah.

[Parker] And you've been doing
a great job down there.

Thanks, T.

[Doumitt]
For the week, you guys,
we got 382.5 ounces.

With the money
that Parker spent,

we need a lot more gold
than that.

All righty.

- Well, thanks, Doumitt.
- All right.

Yeah.

Catch you guys later.

Send Mitch back to
dud mountain.

- You all right there, Nate?
- Oh, yeah.

Okay.

He looks like Harry
off of Home Alone there

when he touches
the electrical-- electricity.

[Rick] Oh, he's pissed.

He's grumpy.

- No.
- Yeah.

- [Kruse] Don't poke the bear.
- Don't poke the bear.

You, guys, *bleep*
k*lled that, I mean,

that's a big plant to set up.

There's lot of pieces there,
you know,
you guys did a great job.

I really thank you for,
you know, all piling in
and making it happen.

Obviously, with plant moves
and setting up,
and all that stuff,

you know, that takes time,

and we only had
a couple of days to run.

And we haven't really seen
much gold for
how many weeks now?

Yeah.

[narrator] So far this season,
Rick's averaged three-quarters
of an ounce an hour.

But with Monster Red running
three times more of the richer
Rally Valley pay dirt,

Rick's hoping for a big score.

[Rick] Two days running,

Five...

Ten...

Twenty...

Thirty...

Over 40, holy *bleep*.

Yeah, yeah. Over 40.

*bleep* yeah.

My man.

[narrator] If the

continues to deliver
like this,

Rick will have
his best season ever.

Hey, buddy, that adds up.

Well, now we just need to keep
doing that 24 hours a day.

We need to do better
than that.

The pay at the bottom's
gonna be better than that,

I think 2,000 ounces is ours.
