04x13 - The Resurrection

Post by bunniefuu »

Here we go.

Narrator:
deep in south america...

Thurber: holy [bleep]
it's a snake.

...the hoffman crew
faces an early end

To their disastrous season...

Narrator: ...forcing them
to take extreme measures.

If they can't produce their
season's first real gold...

You have to shut down,
pack up, go home.

...they'll be thrown off
their jungle mine.

All the south american dreams
I've ever had

Are coming down to this week.

Narrator: in alaska...

I've got something
you might like.

..."Dakota" fred finally gets
dustin the machines he needs...

These are great, fred.
Look at them.

...to venture 3,000 feet up
into virgin ground...

Ooh, she's spinning.

...above porcupine creek...

Whoo! Nailed it.

...and mine
their first mountain gold.

Right now,
I'm on top of the world.

Narrator:
and in the klondike...

Crank her up.

...parker schnabel's
need for speed...

...comes at a price...

Remsburg:
we need to shut her down.

Parker:
[bleep] that plant.

Narrator:
...but pays out big time.

That's pretty nice.

Georgetown, guyana.

Todd hoffman has to explain
his disastrous season

To his claim owner,
tony mekdeci.

Mekdeci: todd,
what's happening with mining?

I'm 100 days in,
and I got no gold.

So, you haven't started
producing any gold yet?

I am catching diamonds.

That's all I got.

It's been hard.
It's been a nightmare out there.

I honestly did not know
how tough it was gonna be.

All right.
Hold up. Hold up. Hold up.

I shook your hand
five months ago.

I said,
"todd, go for it".

Now are you telling me
you ain't gonna get no gold.

We have a problem.

I don't have time
for this.

I know.

We cannot continue
like this.

You know, I'm pretty much,
you know, at your mercy.

We're gonna have to stop
your operation.

You have to shut down,
pack up, go home.

To secure the claim,

Todd promised tony
a pile of gold.

I did 803 ounces
last year.

Okay.

You're gonna get a lot more
gold, you know, for your buck.

But he's produced
only six diamonds and no gold.

Zip. Nada. Nothing.

Tony called him to the capital
to account for his failure.

Now todd has to fight
to save his operation.

Tony, I need more time because
we've done all this work.

We're at this point now.

We're actually starting
to run dirt.

Now, look.
I need to see some action.

You should be able to make
14 ounces a week.

Can you do that in one week
and show me?

Because, todd,
I think that's gonna be it.

If we can't do that,
we're wasting time.

Deal. I'll do it.

Back on the claim, todd has to
break the news to his crew

That they could be going home.

Hey, dad, thurber.

Come on down.
We got to have a meeting.

As you know, I went down to see
mekdeci, and it's not good.

If we don't have 14 ounces
in 7 days,

He's gonna boot us.

That's ridiculous.

Why'd you even agree to that
with him?

He had me in a corner,
mitch.

What am I supposed to do?

What makes you think that we're
gonna find it all of a sudden?

Dude, I don't know,
but we got to get 14 ounces.

That's our only way out.

It's down to the wire,

And if we don't have it,
we're done.

We better pray
for a miracle

'Cause that's
what it's gonna take.

Dad, guys, come in
and say a quick prayer.

Heavenly father,
we need a miracle.

We ask for that 14 ounces.

And it's in your name we pray.

Amen.

Todd:
let's get to work.

Okay, logy, here we go.

Narrator: dave fires up
the trommel in patience creek...

Rock and roll.

...but all he has to run
is the same jungle dirt

That over the last three months
has delivered no gold.

Turin: I can run this plant
12 hours a day.

I just don't think we can
get it out of the ground.

Problem is I can't go to mekdeci

And say,
"your ground's not good".

He just expects us
to dig up more ground,

Put it through our plant,
and get him his gold.

But with this dirt, I really
don't know if we can do it.

Narrator: dave sends andy spinks
out in the 290 excavator

To prospect for better gravels
in hope creek.

It's a long shot.

We've got to get
to that pay gravel.

We can't afford to screw around
with any more weak pay.

There's no pay
over any of this.

Really?

Spent a whole bunch of time
screwing around over here.

There ain't no freaking pay
over there.

Freaking pain
in the a*s.

You know, we can quit
and go home, give up,

Or we just fight through it
and do the best we can.

Unfortunately,
it just keeps taking more time,

And time is the one thing
that we're running out of.

You know, well,
we're coming down to the wire.

All the south american dreams
I've ever had

Are coming down to this week.

Narrator: after six hours

Shifting more than 350 yards
of worthless dirt...

Spinks: now we're cooking.

Narrator: ...andy finally sees
what he's been searching for.

There's the gravels right there.
That's what we're looking for.

Right on top
of that layer of bedrock.

That's really good.

That's exactly the dirt
that we want to get.

Got to get this stuff
to the trommel. That's perfect.

Hey, dave,
you got copy?

Turin: yeah, go ahead.

We just hit
really good pay dirt.

Great news, andy.

Why don't you
give kevin a call

And get that over here
just as quick as you can.

Get him
in that rock truck.

Turin: this is amazing.

This is the first really good
news I've heard.

If there's gold there,
I'm gonna go get it.

Narrator: 6,000 miles north
in porcupine creek,

The dakota boys have mined

Fred hurt is on the road
with a cargo

That could take their season
to the next level.

Come on, dustin.

Yeah, go ahead.

Hey, look.

Come on down
to the porcupine bridge.

I've got something
you might like.

All right.
Sounds good, man.

I'll be there in a few.

I promised him a little bit
of equipment, so here it comes.

[ Chuckles ]

Narrator: four weeks ago,

Dustin prospected their
mountain claim of cahoon creek.

Dustin: that's unreal.

Narrator: tests showed
five times as much gold

As their porcupine pay dirt.

From that much dirt,
that's what I got out of it.

Fred: unbelievable.

But fred didn't have
the set-up costs to mine it...

You're talking probably

Narrator:
...until last week,

When they had a record
$100,000 clean up.

Whoo!
I get to dig in cahoon.

Whoo!

Now fred has put his money
where his mouth is.

Dustin finally has
the machines he needs

To chase his dream
of big cahoon creek gold.

Oh, look how tiny they are.
They're awesome.

These are great, fred.

Look at them.

I said I'd bring you
some equipment.

There it is, young man.
All right.

They may be little,
but, boy,

They will absolutely do
an awful lot of work.

This is awesome.

I got to get this things
up to cahoon.

All right. Great.

The only way to get
the excavators up to cahoon

Is with a helicopter.

But it's maximum load
is 2,000 pounds,

And each of these mini
excavators weighs double that.

These volvos weigh 4,040 pounds,

So hopefully we can get them
in three pieces.

Pull off the counterweight,
pull of the boom,

And it shouldn't be too hard

To get these things
down to nothing.

Narrator: everything dustin
strips off his excavators now

He must reassemble

To start, he needs to pull off
the counterweight.

To prevent excavators
from tipping over,

A massive cast-iron
counterweight

Is attached
to the back of the cab.

Dustin wants to remove
the counterweight

To get below
the 2,000-pound limit.

Dustin: can you see
the counterweight on them yet?

But these aren't
regular excavators.

Paul:
oh, built in. [Bleep]

Brackets are mounted.
This is all mounted.

Yeah, it looks like everything's
attached to it.

This is gonna be a problem.

I don't know if I can shed
enough weight off this thing.

That does create
a problem.

Narrator:
dustin's ec20 excavators

Don't have
a removable counterweight.

Instead, the boom is balanced
by their integral chassis

And rear-mounted engine.

Gonna have to do
something drastic.

I got an idea.

We're gonna start pulling tracks
off this thing.

We're hoping each one of these
is almost 500 pounds each.

Let's pull it up. Ready?

[ Groans ]
we're against this.

[Bleep]

Okay, we might have to get
that other excavator over here.

Little bit more.

There it comes.

If we couldn't budge one
with two of us,

Then that means they're
pretty good and heavy.

And the heavier they are,
the better.

We'll set it down.
We'll get the skid loader.

All right.

Next is boom.

Loose?

Yeah.
Watch your toes.

Just go really slow.

That's it.

That's it.

You got it.

[ Exhales sharply ]

All right.

Narrator: they've removed
as much weight as they can.

Dustin:
if it doesn't make weight,

We're not gonna be able
to send it up

Because I don't know what else
to take off of this thing.

Narrator:
if the stripped-down excavator

Weighs more than 2,000 pounds,

Dustin won't be able to mine
cahoon creek this season.

I'm worried that we're
not gonna make it now.

Narrator:
in alaska, dustin hurt needs

His stripped-down excavators
to weigh less than 2,000 pounds

Or they'll be too heavy
for the helicopter

And he wont be able to mine
cahoon creek this season.

Paul:
what was the total weight?

Dustin: 5,200.

Dustin now needs to subtract
the weight of the truck

The excavator is loaded on

To see if his machine
is under 2,000 pounds.

We nailed it.

Whoo!

That's awesome.

Dustin: this thing will fly,

So now we're ready
to go to cahoon.

Narrator: with the excavators
cleared to fly,

Dustin and his crew,
wes and paul richardson,

Set out to finally mine
mountain gold.

Dustin: if there's gold there,
I'll find it,

But I'm nervous as hell
right now.

Yeah, we got to get up there
and get gold.

Pressure's on.

Narrator:
dustin flies 3,000 feet

Above porcupine to cahoon creek.

Dustin: we're way up.

Way, way, way up.

No more trees.

Until 50 years ago, this ground
was covered by a glacier.

The dakota boys could be
the first to unlock

The source of all the gold
in the entire valley.

All right. We're here.

This is cahoon.

Ooh, she's spinning.

Leave room for a wash plant!

We've got the motor coming in.

And this is the most fragile
part of the whole lift.

Beautiful.
How's it sit?

Whoo! Nailed it.

That's perfect, man.

So far everything's
working out wonderfully,

And, right now,
I'm on top of the world.

We didn't drop anything.

Narrator:
scribner creek, the klondike.

Parker schnabel's crew

Is chasing 800 ounces of gold
this season,

Worth over a million dollars.

But with less than a third
of the season left,

They're barely halfway there
with 431 ounces.

Wash-plant manager chris doumitt

Is pushing big red
as hard as he can.

Hey, chris, how many buckets now
are you doing?

We're doing about 100 yards
an hour with this bedrock.

That's the best
we can run safely.

Parker: man, that plant's hardly
getting pushed at all.

I have an 800-ounce goal

And doing this yardage,
we're not gonna do it.

Narrator: all season,
parker has been trying

To push more yardage
through his wash plant.

Siler: parker!

But every time
it ends in disaster.

Welcome to our clown show.

Narrator: now...

Cut the power.

...to get big red
to run more pay dirt,

Parker's decided to make
some serious modifications.

I guess now it's just time
to pimp my wash plant.

Today we're changing out

A bunch of the top-
and bottom-deck screens

To try to get more yardage
out of the plant

'Cause right now, we're only
doing about 100 yards an hour.

And for the size deck
and sluices we've got,

We should be doing 150 to 180,

And a lot of that has to do
with the screen set up.

Narrator: pay dirt is fed
onto the screen deck.

Large rocks pass over
and into the tailings pile,

While smaller,
gold-bearing material

Falls down into the sluices.

Feeding too much material
too fast

Causes rocks to back up.

Removing the old screens

And installing a new deck
with larger holes

Enables parker to process
more pay dirt

Without back ups or blowouts.

And running more pay dirt means
more gold in the sluice box.

Parker:
you can see the difference
between these two screens.

You know, these ones obviously
have a lot more open area.

These are a lot more closed off.

This will last a lot longer,

But this will give us
way more throughput,

You know, a lot more material
to drop through there.

Narrator: but chris doumitt
ran big red all last year...

Parker.

...and he's got reservations.

You brought me up
to run this thing, right?

And we want to run it
efficiently.

It's been doing that,

And now we're doing something
new and fancy.

I don't know.

I think you're taking
a big chance here.

This is one
of the only ways

I see us getting
where we need to be.

Greg, you ready
for these new screens?

A day not running dirt
is a day not finding gold.

Remsburg: the point of
replacement of this screen deck

Is to increase our yardage,

And right now we've got
the screen deck off

And the plant's not on, so
there's no gold being produced.

So we're losing the day.

We can't afford
to keep losing days.

That's for sure.

Doumitt:
we're trying something new

And if it works,
it's gonna be great.

If it works.

If it doesn't,
it's gonna be nightmarish,

And we may be going home
without our 800 ounces.

Narrator:
guyana, south america.

Todd:
start the water, dave!

The hoffman crew
is running through the night

Doing everything in their power

To avoid being kicked off
of their claim

By the owner, tony mekdeci.

Turin: this scares me.

I'll be quite honest with you.

But we don't have a choice
right now, so it's a big night.

We've got to really be
on top of our game.

Narrator: they need to recover

In the next four days.

Todd: really not a good idea
to run at night in the jungle,

But we're under pressure.

We got to get this gold.

That's what we're gonna do.

Narrator: they will now run
their jungle trommel

With it's new
diamond-catching jigs

Straight through till dawn.

Todd:
I think we're looking okay.

I'm gonna watch these jigs,
okay?

Thurber: okay, I'm gonna back
kevin in. He's got another load.

All right.
Okay.

Holy [bleep] todd.

Dude, what is it?

It's a snake.
Whoa. What the hell --

Don't let him bite you.
Look at him. He's all --

Watch out, man.
He might be poisonous.

Come on, buddy.
Go this way. Get out of here.

Thurber, be careful.

Good job, thurb.

Yeah, you know what?

I already got enough
to worry about,

Let alone a freaking snake
come rolling through here.

Hiatt: [bleep]

Narrator:
guyana, south america.

There's an emergency
on the hoffman's jungle claim.

This is my worst fear --
if something happened.

We got an accident
down at the pit.

What happened?

Todd: I don't know.

Narrator: kevin hiatt has
nearly rolled his rock truck.

[Bleep]

Kev, you okay?

Yeah, I'm okay.
I'm just a little shaken up.

I don't know
what happened, man.

Spinks: what happened is it's
dark. That's what happened.

You just got too close
to the edge.

The bank gave away on you.

I just came around that corner
and I just couldn't see.

You're all right, though.
That's the main thing.

Todd, I think it's time
to call it.

This is too dangerous.

Yeah. You know, what?

This gold ain't worth a guy's
life, you know what I mean?

You guys in agreement?

Yeah.
Yeah.

Let's call it. Just leave
the truck here tonight.

Get it in the morning
when we have daylight.

Let's do it.

Just get out of here,
guys.

Narrator:
cahoon creek, alaska.

Dustin hurt and his crew
have spent their first night

On their remote mountain claim.

Dustin: another beautiful day
in paradise.

Narrator: after their helicopter
trip up from porcupine creek,

Dustin's wash plant
and excavators are in pieces,

And he's got to rebuild them
without a workshop.

Dustin:
we're gonna set our a-frame up,
and we're gonna get started.

This is gonna be our workhorse

To get all of our machinery
together.

We don't have
a mechanical advantage

When it comes to hydraulics,

So we got to do it
like the old-school guys.

We'll put things together
with ratchets and elbow grease.

Narrator:
despite their lack of tools...

Can you go up
just a tad more?

...dustin and his crew...

Okay, that's it.

...quickly make progress.

Got the tracks on, y'all!

This is step one
of my master plan.

Put the boom on
and the blade on.

And ground fall.

We're almost there,
though, guys.

This is the last little piece
of -- we're just about done.

All right, guys.
That's it.

She works.

Narrator: after four hours,

They have both excavators
rebuilt.

Thank you.

Another successful
reassembly.

That's it.

I got two
running excavators now.

Now it's on to the wash plant.

Narrator: to assemble
their mountain wash plant,

They need to start
by getting the hopper upright.

The hopper's 700 pounds,
and we can't lift it.

So, we're gonna use
our little machines.

Okay.
This is gonna work out.

Let's line them up.

I want to turn this one
this way,

Turn this one that way,

And pull two ropes
to where it stands up on it.

Wes: with dustin pulling,
we're gonna try to get paul

To come around over here,

So all we got to do
is just pull this hopper

Up and over the top.

[ Grunts ]

[Bleep]

I got no more, like, I don't
have any lift right here.

[Bleep]

Dustin:
having a real problem.

The hopper's taller
than our little machines.

It was built
for a bigger machine,

And I can't lift it up
high enough.

Narrator: dustin needs to find
another way to stand it up.

I don't know what to do exactly.

But I'm starting to come
together with a plan

As I'm standing right here.

This is what I want you to do.

This one and that one --

We're gonna use
these ropes right here

To stand this thing up.

Narrator:
he's hoping a single excavator

Can pivot it into position.

You just pulling
the whole thing?

Dustin:
it's not gonna tip up?

It might.

Go a little --
yeah, maybe.

What the [bleep]

I'm running into
all kinds of trouble

Because I had to bring up
such a small excavator.

Narrator: if dustin can't find
a way to lift the hopper,

He will have no wash plant
and no gold.

Dustin:
damn it. Bad choices.

This isn't working.

Narrator:

Parker's crew has just finished
installing a new screen deck

On his wash plant, big red.

Parker:
chris, you ready to fire up?

Ready to go
whenever you guys are.

It's time to find out how hard
he can push his revamped plan.

Crank her up.

We've been doing
about 100 yards an hour,

And I just turned the feeder up
so it'll be at about 180.

We need to know what the max
capacity of this plant is

So we can be
right on the edge of that.

The rest of the season,

This plant's gonna run
on a jagged edge.

Narrator: big red is running
180 yards an hour --

The fastest it has ever run.

Chris doumitt isn't happy.

I think starting off 100% right
off the bat could be disastrous.

But he's got the control,
so we'll see what happens.

I don't know.
I think it's moving awful fast.

It's finally cranked up
to full speed.

I've been wanting to move
this kind of dirt all year,

And, you know,
it's finally happening.

Narrator: screen-deck supplier
jim siler

Fears the machine
cannot take this pace.

Siler: parker!

Parker: what the [bleep]

We need to shut her down.

Narrator:
scribner creek, the klondike.

Parker: what the [bleep]

Siler:
we need to shut her down.

Narrator: the young,
ambitious parker schnabel

Has pushed his wash plant
to its breaking point yet again.

You can shut
our water off.

Oh, he started feeding it
way too fast.

It had a major blowout.

The lower deck was overloaded,

So now we're clearing
the whole machine.

We got to start over again.

This is a mess.

Will you hand me that shovel,
chris?

Narrator:
now instead of catching gold,

Parker and his crew
have to clear the rocks

Off the new screen deck.

When you run it too fast,

The rocks come over
the top of the screen,

Get caught between the screen
and the frame.

You got to throw them out
by hand.

And we really didn't want
to do that, really.

I mean, we wanted --
we got off to a bad start.

Let's put it that way.

That's a classic case of pushing
your equipment too far.

You know, if rocks are piling
over the top of the deck,

There's obviously gold
sh**ting on by,

And those of us that have
done this before know better.

Parker: [bleep] [bleep]

Get out of my [bleep] way.

[Bleep] that plant.

Narrator: parker may just have
blown his chances

Of a good clean-up this week.

You ready to go?

Clear?

Chris and greg
restart the plant.

Remsburg: I think we were
right up near 200 yards an hour

There for a brief moment,

And that's just --
it's too much.

We just proved it.

So it's gonna cost us two hours,

It's gonna cost us probably
a couple ounces of gold anyway.

Remsburg: I don't know
if parker got the message,

But usually took me
more than one time

Of putting my hand
on a hot stove at 18

Before I got it.

Narrator:
guyana, south america.

The hoffman crew
has just three days left

To find 14 ounces of gold

Or their claim owner
will kick them off.

But they can't mine

Until they get their rock truck
out of a pit.

Turin: we got to get that thing
on its feet, okay?

That's our only chance of
getting gold for that 14 ounces.

If we can get these wheels
on the ground,

We got a chance
of pulling this thing out.

Okay, you guys.
We've got one shot at this.

Andy, you ready?
Spinks: we're ready.

Kevin, you got a copy?
Hiatt: that's it.

Mitch, are you ready?
Yep.

Here we go, guys.

Go ahead, andy.
Give her a little tension.

Nice and easy.

Pull down, mitch.
Pull it down.

Get it on the two wheels, mitch.
Get it down.

There we go. Good!

Looking good.

Give me a little more,
andy.

I think we got it, guys.

Looking good.

All right. Whoo!
We got it.

Whoo!

Nice job, mitch.
Perfect.

Everything went good.

Take a look, mitch.

See if there's
anything else broke.

I think we're good,
dave.

Good.

Well, we got lucky,

And we still got a chance
of pulling this off.

The thing is, we're not doing
any more nightshift.

That's just too spooky,
too dangerous,

But we're gonna do some kick-a*s
on the days.

Let's do this.

Okay, kev.
Let's go get some rock.

[ Horn honks ]

Narrator: with their rock truck
back in action...

Fire it up.

...the hoffman crew
still has a chance

Of finding 14 ounces
of jungle gold

Before tony mekdeci's deadline.

Do or die --

Narrator: north in alaska,

Above porcupine creek,

Dustin and his crew
are struggling

To put their wash plant
together.

Dustin: nope.
That didn't work.

Paul:
[bleep] this is insane.

These little excavators are just
a little bit too small

For this wash plant.

Tell you something that will
make it a lot easier --

These grizzly bars
comes out real easy.

That's 300 pounds
right there.

You can take a lot of weight off
to tilt that thing up

And then put them
right back in there.

We can probably stand it up
by hand.

Yeah, that's true.

You want to just pull
those grizzly bars out?

It'd be easier.
Let's do it!

These grizzly bars are made
out of old railroad irons,

And this is probably
half of the weight

Of this whole hopper here
that we need to get up.

So we should be able
to get this to work.

Now we can probably
pick it up by hand.

Ready? Let's try.

Ready.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

Narrator: with the excavators
unable to do the job...

[ Grunts ]

...their only hope
is brute strength.

[ Grunts ]

It fit. Whoo!

Narrator: the hopper
is finally in position.

Wes: good job, guys.

Who needs an excavator?

All right.

I think we should put on
the grizzly bars.

Hook up some water.

Set a trommel here
that goes into a sluice box.

This is the last part
of our setup.

Soon as we get
this sluice set up,

We're gonna be ready
to run material.

And that should work.

All you got to do now
is get it running.

Fire it up.
Fire in the hole.

Paul:
we have a wash plant!

That'll do it.

First bucket of dirt, man.

Narrator: this is the first time
this high valley,

Thought to be the source
of all the local gold,

Has ever been mined.

Looks good.

Dustin:
it's quite a feat to get it.

We have a wash plant --
a running wash plant

And two running excavators
on cahoon

That we pulled up here
in little bitty pieces.

I mean, I got a damn good crew.

That's all I can say.

It's amazing, man.

Excited as hell.

Now we just got to find
the gold.

Narrator: at scribner creek,

Parker schnabel is dead set

On running big red
at its maximum speed

To hit his 800-ounce goal.

Hoping that we'll get our
yardage up -- or I know we will.

It's just a matter of how much.

Narrator:
but after repeated blowouts,

He's letting chris doumitt
take control.

I'm gonna speed it up
to about 130, 135 yards an hour,

So parker can see what it
looks like at the other end.

Right now we're anywhere
from 131 to 137.

I think this is good.

Narrator:
with the new screens,

Big red is now running
nearly 40% faster.

Good job, chris.

We'll do it!

Narrator: in guyana,

The seven days are up
for the hoffman crew.

If they don't deliver 14 ounces
of gold worth nearly $19,000,

Tony mekdeci, the claim owner,

Says he'll throw them
off his land.

All we got left is a clean-up.

Narrator:
after a $1.2 million season

Last year in the klondike,

The hoffman crew now faces

Leaving south america
with nothing.

It all comes down
to jack's clean-up.

I don't know what to say.

Believe it or not
we got our very first gold.

But 14 ounces
isn't gonna happen.

We got under two.

Ugh.

It's terrible.

Well,
for what it's worth, guys,

We have 15 diamonds.

That's something,
guys.

We get on some diamonds,
we still have a chance here.

Hey,
I got to call mekdeci.

Blaschke:
good luck, todd.

Hiatt:
yeah, todd, good luck.

Narrator: the hoffman crew's
entire season

Now hinges on one phone call.

I don't know about you guys,
but I think we're going home.

I got two ounces.
I didn't get the 14.

I wish I had better news
to tell you, but I don't.

I just don't want you
to boot us off.

We did get 15 diamonds.

Okay.
I think we can get 30 diamonds.

I really do.

I understand.

He wants 30 diamonds,

And he's gonna send somebody out
to look over our shoulder.

My guys aren't gonna like that,

But, hey, we bought ourselves
a little bit of time.

Narrator:
north at scribner creek,

It's crunch time
for parker schnabel.

Against his crew's advice,

He fitted new screen decks
to big red

In an attempt
to catch more gold.

Parker: I came up here
to find 800 ounces,

And that's a pretty lofty goal
for the first season up here.

We want that 800 ounces,

So it's got to be
a good clean-up.

We got to get back on track.

Narrator: after losing two days
to the modifications

And a huge blowout,

It's time to find out
if his big gamble has paid off.

I didn't really get
a very good start to this week,

But I need at least 100 ounces,
if not a little bit more.

Narrator:
tony beets owns parker's claim.

Good.
How are you, tony?

And as usual, he's come
for his 15% cut of the gold.

All right. Let's go ahead
and weight this up.

There's 20.

Man,
this looks pretty nice.

That's pretty nice.

I mean, for the problems we had,
I'm pretty happy with that.

I mean, we had a bit
of a tough week.

We made a lot of changes
to the plant.

We've got new screens in.

It's gonna be good
from here on out,

But it kind of hurt us
this week.

And with those new screens,

There's no reason we can't do
180 yards an hour.

And I keep wanting
to crank the yardage up...

...and nobody else wants to,
so it's kind of --

Amen to that.

In his rookie season
in the klondike,

Parker now has 544 ounces
of gold

Worth 3/4 of a million dollars.

Your cut's 16.92.

His modifications to big red

Could be the key
to making him a millionaire.

Perfect.
Thanks, parker.

I pushed a little too hard,
and we lost two days production,

But the results
were the results.

We had over a 100-ounce week.

I want to be riding this plant
hard at its max.

I mean, that's the only way

We're gonna hit our goal
of 800 ounces.

And if we screw up, you know,
I'll take the consequences.
