at a Louisville, Kentucky amusement park

committed one of the largest robberies

in the annals of the FBI.

The money from the armored truck together with the holiday

weekend receipts from the park

amounted to over $1,800,000

to be divided between Clenard Massey

Howard Douglas Rademaker, Louis Lyle Chernik

and the mastermind of the crime, Curtis Breer.

to resume the other side of his dual life.

From what we know about him.

Which is nothing.

[Erskine] Howard Douglas Rademaker served two terms for armed robbery

released from state prison a couple of years ago.

[phone buzzing]

His finger prints have matched

the latents found on the armor truck.

Fortunately, the latent finger print section

was able to identify him

because of his previous involvement with major crimes.

- Hey, are you the manager? - Assistant.

May I help you?

[Rademaker] 'Yeah.'

'Now, let's you and me take a walk to the cashier's booth.'

Rademaker! FBI!

[dramatic music]

[cans clattering]

with the capture of one of the gunmen.

The arrest of Rademaker

narrowed the list of subjects still at large to three.

Inspector, we're at the apartment the salesman

rented on Clinton drive.

We've interviewed the manager.

He said he rented it to a man named Curtis Harden

who matches the description

Rademaker gave us of the salesman.

What about Massey?

Rademaker evidently told the truth about him, too.

A man answering his description was seen by a tenant

leaving the building yesterday afternoon.

A young woman was with him.

'We're interviewing the other tenants in building now.'

Well, I'll be there as soon as I can.

Any word from the bureau on Chernik?

Yes, inspector, Rademaker's information helped.

They located his identification record

and are sending it out now.

Along with photographs.

Good.

I know you're gonna have to run me in for practicing medicine

after my license had been taken away.

Well, may be jail is the safest place for me anyway.

Why do you say that?

Chernik, I didn't do a very good job on his arm.

It's gonna give him a lot of trouble.

He may decide to come back here and k*ll me.

He tried to hit a supermarket.

Then you can catch our pictures in the next edition.

'I think he fingered us.'

No reason he should, but I think he did.

I think our mastermind is in San Diego.

Well, she mentioned she overheard him make

a couple of phone calls and it seemed like he was calling home.

She remembered any telephone number or an address?

No. Nothing else.

Oh, man, that couldn't be better.

We canvased all the taxi cab companies.

One of the drivers of the Blue Stark cab company

remembers picking up a man at, uh, 12:38 pm

at the Clinton drive address who answers Massey's description.

There was a woman with him.

Unit six found the car Chernik stole from Doc Boyer.

Abandoned near Parmadale's.

Check stolen reports with the local police, too.

Now, the taxi driver says he took the girl

to 2042, Heisman Avenue.

Then dropped Massey off some place downtown.

He doesn't remember where.

Well, let's find out who lives at that Heisman address.

[dramatic music]

[Massey] Okay, now we're gonna be happy and walk carefully

and I don't know.

[laughs]

Oh, this is the worst day of my life.

Oh, smiles. Ha-ha.

- Yes. - You're hopping very nicely.

[gasps]

[dramatic music]

[man on radio] 'Go ahead, SL-1.'

I uh, call the city transit office.

I wanna know the route of one of their buses.

This is something different.

I'm pretending I'm a kid again.

And I'm on my first date.

And this was all you could afford.

I've heard another story some fellas tell.

Yeah, I guess somebody told you that my car went out of control.

Motorists reported seeing you struggling

with somebody in your car.

There was a hitchhiker, he tried to rob me.

I guess I panicked.

Oh, where is he now?

Well, I hit him a couple of good punches and he-he took off

you know, like a scared rabbit.

Well, I'd like to get his description

and a full report on the incident.

Sure, well, he was, uh, oh, I guess about 19.

May be six feet tall, blonde hair.

I'm sorry, I can't tell you how he was dressed.

Uh, you say he fled after you hit him.

Was he badly injured, you think?

No, no, no. Just, uh, scared.

'But I don't think he'll try to rob anyone again.'

[intercom buzzes]

Lewis, has Massey told you anything?

Uh, he's refused to talk.

But we found something interesting

among his personal affects.

"Chernik at Eastman SD."

SD, South Dakota?

[Erskine] 'No, there is no Eastman in South Dakota.'

But if you recall, Chernik was arrested in San Diego

on the felonious as*ault charge.

Well, there's an Eastman Bar and Grill there

according to the San Diego office.

And a bartender who knows Chernik.

You know where he is?

He hasn't heard from him in a year.

You'd better get out there right away, Lewis.

Right.

[instrumental music]

I'm with the Mabry Pest Control, here to inspect the house.

Uh, I'm afraid you must've the wrong address.

Don't think so.

Here's the work order.

Your husband called us yesterday and he said he just

bought the house and wanted it thoroughly inspected.

I thought it had already been inspected.

'Yeah, he told us that.'

But he wanted us to look it over.

Oh, may be you like to check with him.

He's terrified of Chernik. He was beaten up by him once.

Has Chernik tried to contact him?

Yes, he left a message for Massey saying he was in town

and had located their relative.

He said he'd be calling back.

Alright, leave word with the bartender from Massey

saying he's checked into a nearby hotel.

He seemed to be legitimate. He had this work order.

to the authorities in the area.

The manager gave his permission to search the room.

who was loitering about the parking lot the other day.

'Units five and eight are approaching Oceanside Cemetery.'

Right, have them wait for us at the entrance.

recovered from their wounds

and along with Clenard Massey and Louise Lyle Chernik

were tried and convicted in state court of armed robbery.

They were also found guilty in federal court

of inter-state transportation of stolen property

and inter-state car theft.

Breer and Rademaker were also convicted of assaulting

federal officers.

Rademaker and Massey were found guilty in state court

for as*ault and car theft.

Cyril Boyer pleaded guilty in state court

to practicing medicine without a license.
