usually in kauai,

They've migrated down to oahu,

And the next stop that they're
going to hit is this channel,

Which is the alenuihaha channel,

-Above the kona coast.

There's a big pinnacle out here.

They call it indianapolis.

There's a really good
chance that the birds

And the current and everything
are gonna hold these fish here.

A pinnacle or a seamount is
basically just an underwater mountain,

Which creates a perfect
ecosystem for hungry fish.

And the good thing
about indianapolis

That it's just far
enough off the coast

To where we can avoid
the crowds of kona.

If we can intercept this bite,

There's a really good chance that
we can nail 'em before they actually

Move into the grounds
where it's crowded.

I mean, the currents and the
winds are all agreeing with it?

[jeff] what do you think, shane?

I mean, we're putting all
the chips in one basket,

So that's the only
concern I have.

[jeff] yeah, well... I
think it's a gamble. But...

He's a really good
friend of my dad,

south kona his whole entire life.

located in south kona.

It's the last traditional
fishing village in hawaii.

They don't have power.

They live off of
catchment water.

They're self-sustaining.

And the fishermen,

They don't give out
information easy.

where I'm from, man.

Born and raised on here.

Why haven't we come here before?

I have a hard time
coming down here.

I was 16 when I left miloli'I.

For my dad, fishing
just wasn't going to cut it.

It was leaving his entire
lifestyle that he grew up in

It was about survival.
