19x04 - Predatorland

Post by bunniefuu »

Not only have I been a fan
of the show,

but now I get to do a Zoom
with one of the people

that got me inspired to do it.

You've been a fan,
but it's time.

I mean, after this,
you're transitioning from fan

to actual survivalist.
Are you nervous?

- Yes, I am nervous.
- You gotta get rid of that.

Hesitation is the difference
between success and failure

in this game.
You're gonna get hurt.

Uh-oh, [bleep].
Damn!

You just gotta be able
to stick it out.

The other thing you need to do
is you need to hydrate.

If you don't hydrate,
you're gonna crash faster

than Diddy's career.

You're gonna have moments
when you're gonna go,

"This is not worth it."

We are [bleep]
if we cannot get the fire going.

But whatever you do, stay away
from pity parties for one.

Nobody wants to see it.
Nobody's coming to save you.

Mm, mother[bleep].

You're taking a one-way ticket
to no-man's-land,

and there is no comeback.

I'm tired.
I'm hurting.

I'm done.

This is some next-level [bleep]
and I really don't know

what I just got myself into.

A week ago, I was on my couch
watching the show,

and now I'm on a truck
in Zambia, Africa.

As a fan, I know
I'm underestimated,

but don't ever underestimate
a hairdresser.

They will cut you.

Back in Texas, we don't have
some of the predators

that can eat you.
It's definitely intimidating.

It's time to nut up or shut up.

There's no more taking
armchair notes.

Come on, let's go
"Naked and Afraid!"

Let's go!

Oh, I think this is my spot.
Ready as I'll ever be.

I describe myself
as a people-person.

I am always caring
about others, doing for others.

I wear many, many hats.
Salon owner, mom.

I am married,
with two beautiful children.

Oh, I'm gonna miss you
so much, baby!

Me too.

In preparation
of this challenge,

I've been mentored
by my favorite

"Naked and Afraid" legend,
Kaila Cumings.

I'm so excited
to finally meet you!

- I know!
- Oh my God.

We learned fire-starting,
bow drills.

It looks so good!

And I was even there to watch
Kaila make my blade

that I'm taking
into this challenge.

She is a badass
and everybody knows it.

The fact that my skills are
untested and I'm just a fan,

that does not faze me.
I'm gonna crush it.

Here I come, Zambia!

It's about to get good!

The outdoors mean
absolutely everything to me.

Fire!
I made fire!

Going out into the wilderness,
just taking in the air,

looking at nature.

Desperate times leads
to desperate measures.

It's absolutely everything.

Let's go conquer Africa.

My mental health journey,
I've been on antidepressants

and different ADHD medicines
since I was 11.

My whole life I was depressed,
until about five years ago,

I found "Naked and Afraid."

I've always found a sense
of peace in the wilderness,

calming, and now I've taken it
to the extreme.

- Hello!
- Hey, how are you?

Are you as excited as I am?

I'm crazy excited,
I can't even describe it.

- I'm Nicole.
- I'm Andrew.

- A hug?
- Yes, I wanna do the hug.

I was wondering if you--
I'm a hugger.

I'm a hugger, too.

I see, so we have
that in common.

I just met Nicole,
and I'm excited to have her

as my partner.

Bright pink hair
and this great smile,

good positive energy here.

- So, you're a fan?
- Yes.

You've seen a ton of episodes,
I'm sure.

- Absolutely.
- Is this what you thought
it would be like?

Absolutely not.
Complete opposite.

Yeah.

The tall grass, the green,
I just-- I don't know

what I pictured,
but it wasn't this.
- Yeah, yeah.

And I feel like every foot
we take, there's,

like, something
dangerous lurking.

There's something looking at me,
saying, "He look juicy."

We are not the top
of the food chain anymore.

- I'm ready for it, you know?
- I'm ready for it, too.

- Yeah, so let's kick some a*s.
- Let's kick a*s.

- Mm-hmm, yeah.
- Can I get another hug?

Yes!

I feel very
comfortable already.

Andrew is just like
a teddy bear.

I'm just feeling great
about this 14 days,

and we're gonna rock it.

- It's real now.
- It's real now.

It is a real deal.
So, I brought...

my hook and line.
- Yes!

- Oh, I'm so excited.
- Yeah.

So we're gonna eat
these 14 days.

Oh, yeah.
I'll get us some food.

- All right.
- Mm-hmm, what you got?

Well, our beautiful knife here.
She is small but fierce.

- Yeah.
- I think I have

something else in here.

- Oh, I am so happy to see this.
- Oh, nice.

- A pot.
- Yeah.

- So important.
- Yeah.

Looks like, we've got
a fire starter.

Woo-hoo!

That's gonna come in handy,
too, out here.

Yes.

And we have
the handy-dandy map.

- I've been waiting for this.
- Oh, yeah.

Where are you thinking?

So, yeah, we'll just head
north and check

this water hole out,
there looks like a change

in terrain, but there's plenty
of wood, water of course,

resources, and hopefully food.

- Can't wait.
- Can't wait!

- Let's do it!
- Let's make it happen.

- Let's do this.
- Let's roll.

Superfans Nicole and Andrew
will attempt to survive 14 days

in Zambia's
Luangwa River Valley,

a vast African wilderness which
holds the highest concentration

of carnivores in Zambia.

Here, many of
the continent's big game,

including elephants,
leopards...

...lions, Nile crocs,

and hyena, roam
in the thorn-ridden grasslands.

The Sub-Saharan wasteland is
now nearing the end

of its long dry season.

With daytime temperatures
approaching triple digits

and suffocating humidity,
animals are gathering

at dwindling water holes,
desperate for scarce water

and resources.

- A big thorn bush here,
so be careful on both sides.
- Alright.

Yeah, they come out
of nowhere, huh?

Yeah, you kind of learn
to look for 'em

after they get you
a couple times.

- Ooh.
- Are you OK?

Yep, just got a thorn
in the nipple.

I don't want another
piercing today.

We got some droppings,
some scat here.

I see an elephant track here,
which is crazy.

Well, they have the same thing
in common as with us is they're

going to water, I guess.

They're going to water.

Yeah.

We are literally in a zoo
with no cage, no borders.

Yes, yes.
Welcome to Africa.

You can definitely feel
like, the mugginess starting

to come out a little.
- Oh, yeah.

I've never been this thirsty
in my life,

but with the heat out here,
I've been nauseous all day.

The past 10 minutes,
I feel a little dizzy.

- Yeah.
- It is hot.

I am sweating a ton.

I never knew just a few hours
could drain you so much.

I need water.

- Dehydration can k*ll you.
- Absolutely.

It's gonna be critical
to find a water source

relatively soon, with this heat
and the sun beating on us.

It's gonna suck us dry
really fast.

We've gotta be coming close.

Yeah, all signs point to...

We gotta be getting close.

...water.

- I see water!
- There it is.

There's water, so that's life.

All right.

So, yeah, there's plenty
of water.

- Hopefully there's some
fish in here...
- Yes.

...and wonder if
there's any crocs.

Yeah, I think I'm more worried
about the big stuff that comes

and drinks it.
- Yeah.

Let's fill this guy up.

I'm feeling dehydrated.
I need some water.

I think we need to figure out
what we wanna do

as far as a shelter and where we
wanna kind of put a base camp.

Let's go look and see where
we wanna put our home.

Even though we have predators
here, we see the tracks.

We don't have a lot of time,
but it is crucial to build

a sturdy boma to make sure
that when the predators, too,

come around and they feel
confident to be here,

that we're ready for 'em.

It looks like either
it's an animal trail--

Oh, I like this.

Big time animal trails
here right through.

I think if
we block it off, though...

- Mm-hmm. That works.
- I love the shade.

We're gonna need that being
so hot with the sun.

I think if we clear this out
and we just kind of, like,

we can use this as a lean-to
later from the rain...
- Yeah, yeah.

...but and we can even just
kind of bend those trees.

- Yeah.
- All right.

I'm gonna get us
some firewood, I think,

start this fire.
Get us some water going.

Yeah.

- Let me just kind of
get things going...
- Oh, yeah.

...and see how well
I can do.

As a fan, I have seen
this moment so many times,

and the fact that I am sitting
here doing this right now

is just unreal.

Should start right up.

Oh, this brings me happiness.

Already starting to feel
a little...

nauseous from the trek.

I feel a little bit
of a headache come on,

so I know water is crucial.

Oh, come on, hold it in.

- Oh, I'm trying not to get
sick here, Andrew.
- Oh, no.

- Yeah, I felt a little
nauseous earlier...
- You want to maybe--

...and I had to sit down
for a second,

and then I got better, so...

You wanna maybe feed
this fire for me?

Yeah, I got you, I got you.

Worried about my partner
getting sick right off the bat.

The insertion hike was
incredibly draining.

I am already dehydrated.

That does not put me
in a good state on day one.

- You OK?
- Yeah.

Take a break.

You're all right.

Andrew and I underestimated
what a hike in the heat

with no clothes on can do.

So now that we know
our limitations with that heat,

we're just gonna have
to work smarter.

There we go.

Our first pot of water
here in Africa.

There we go.

It is crucial that I find
the power in me

to drink as much water
as I can tonight

to replenish
what I've already lost.

Yeah?

Yeah.
Oh, that is amazing!

Yeah.

This is Africa.
With the heat and the humidity,

the biggest concerns
for surviving here are,

you know, water, water, water.

Make sure we've got that system
in place and we have that.

All right.

Good job.
You did that.

Thank you.

Pshew.

Gotta finish this boma
before it gets dark.

I don't want an animal creeping
in at night, 'cause in Africa,

everything wants to k*ll you.

Because I've watched
episodes of Africa,

I know the shelters
that need to be made.

I know the resources
that can be found here

and how to find them as quickly
and burn as less energy

as possible to do so.

Home sweet home.

- How do you like that?
- No, it's great.

- You're great.
- We got this.

That's right.
Hopefully, we'll get

a good night's sleep tonight
and keep on going.

We made it through
the first day.

Out in the wild.

I have never done
anything like this.

- Yeah.
- It's insane.

We are cray-cray,
but we're doing it.

Our first night is
in the books.

- I'm gonna use the knife.
- Mm-hmm.

Oh, my God, Andrew,
scorpion, grab that knife!

Oh, come back here!
Where'd you go?

All right, he's under there.

I didn't let him go, but--

It's like a brown,
like a-- um...

probably about this big.
- Oh, wow!

Yeah, it was a good size one.

Wasn't one of the little
small ones.

Watch your hands though,
'cause he was

running that way.

I've gotta be careful
if his a*s is venomous.

That's crazy to think
that these are just sitting

in our shelter,
- And I was

sleeping right there.
- Yeah.

A sting from a scorpion will
take us out of the challenge.

Oh, my God!
If we cannot get him,

there is no way I'm sleeping
here tonight.

- I'll keep on the lookout.
- Yeah.

I'll have a stick ready.
You still take the knife.

I'll have a stick ready,
and I'll get

that son-of-a-b*tch.
- Yep, we'll get him.

The scorpion and the boma,
that gives us

a new unlocked fear.

I see him again.
I am not letting you go.

Here I come.
Be careful, Nicole.

Right here.
Right here, I got him.

All right.

So I'mma go ahead
and just cut him in half

and be done with it.
- Yeah.

And then we gotta get
that tail.

Yeah.
But I'll move him.

At least he's gonna die now.

Scorpions can take you out.

That can be a game changer
and end me real fast.

He was literally like
right where your head was.

Yeah, so imagine getting stung
in the head or on the face

by one of these.

No, we'd be like
in serious pain or done.

Yeah, that'd be it.

Just one something that simple,
that small,

change everything.

I think our plans are
to get some stuff done.

And see if this is
a protein source or not.

Yeah, I definitely think
throw something out there

just to see.
- Just to see what we got.

And then while you do that,
I'll work on

putting up a snare.
- Yes.

- How's that?
- That sounds good,

'cause if there's
no protein source here,

then we've gotta reevaluate
some things.

Thinking of food,
you know, right now

with the heat and the humidity
and all that, you'll never have

enough calories out here.

We have to try
to get something.

Gonna hook up
a trot line with a little bug

at the end of it.

And with this one, the idea is
to-- the catfish is gonna be

swimming, smelling, trying
to find something nasty to eat.

He'll come onto this,
chomp on it.

He'll be attached to the tree.

I've been fishing
all throughout my whole life.

You know, there's a lot
of lakes and rivers

where I come from.

So, give me a body of water,
I'll catch fish.

Now we just wait.

All right, so this is
the mopane tree,

and I want some cordage from it.

My goal for today is to get
as much cordage as I can,

set my snare, and then
I'm gonna catch something.

I'm gonna work on some really,
like, fine, small weaved ones

for more of the little game
out here.

This mopane tree is definitely
great for cordage.

Like, I can't get that off
even if I wanted to,

um, but it dries out
very quickly.

So you wanna just make sure
that it stays moist

until it's ready to be used.

I've never actually k*lled
anything, but out here

it's survival.
So let's go, let's do this.

I'm looking for the rabbits,
birds, whatever small game

they have here.
I just gotta find their paths.

Oh, I think I found one I like.

All right, so I have
my noose right here.

All right.

And then I have my tree
right here, my anchor tree.

Something small,
this will be fine.

A slipknot snare is used
for trapping

small game and birds.

When they enter the noose,
which is propped open

with short sticks,
they become trapped

as they struggle to get free.

This has gotta work.

And now we hope for the best.

Yeah, so this is first time
trying to score protein.

This is always a big moment.

If you can do it
relatively easy or quickly,

then that's a game changer.

All right, let's see.

Moment of truth.
Oh, God damn!

No bait.

But... that means there's
something here, but I think

that just means they're
really, really small

and they're just picking
the [bleep] out of the bait.

And yeah, that's disappointing.

I'm gonna use the scorpion
we caught for bait

and then try again.

This towards your snare?

Yes, this is
towards the snare.

I think we're coming up on it.

We are on day three
with no protein.

Actually, for the first day,
starting to feel

that hunger feeling.
Starting to get slower.

Let's take a look here.

That just sucks.
Nothing.

Well, that's disappointing.

Gonna walk down there
and check that line real fast.

Yes.

Nothing.

Something nicked on it.

A small fish, probably,
not big enough to take the hook.

So they sit there and peck
at it until it's nothing left.

Fish come out
during the evening.

So what we're gonna do
before bed, we are gonna

throw one out in the middle.
Fish is gonna pick us up.

We're gonna throw
that sucker in the middle

of the pond and we're
gonna get us a [bleep] fish.

There we go.
Let's [bleep] go!

You got this, friend!

Whew.

Yes!

All right, we got this.

So we just put a snail
on the line.

We're doing some active fishing
over there.

If we can have dinner tonight,

that would be a really,
really great win.

We need one of those.

Oh, no!
Mother[bleep]!

God damn it!

You got this, friend.

Whew.

Yes!

All right.
We got this.

If we can have dinner tonight,
that would be

a really, really great win.

We need one of those.

Mother[bleep]!

I had a fish!
God damn it!

They're so small,
they won't even

get on the hook!
[bleep]!

We knew this was gonna be
hard, so, um...

- But I'll be OK.
- We're gonna push through.

We're in it together.

And we are just gonna keep
on trucking.

- OK, definitely snake territory.
- Yep.

I would love to have
some snake for lunch.

Yesterday was the first day
that I heard my stomach growl.

My body is definitely letting
me know that I need food.

I've got bull nettle
in the face.

Oh, it is tearing me up.

Oh, my goodness.

On our map, it shows
that there's another river,

body of water, not too far
from our little camp.

So we're gonna see if there's
any other source

of proteins
that may be beneficial.

We haven't had any luck
in the pond.

Done it for three days
and found nothing, so it's time

to find something else.

Oh, you son of a b*tch!

You hear that [bleep]?

Yeah.
It sounded big

and sounded like it was
tearing [bleep] up,

so we need to be careful.

I don't wanna get
trampled on.

- All right.
- Look at this, Andrew.

Oh, this is great.

- Are these all elephant tracks?
- Something big.

- And these are fresh.
- These are fresh, yep.

Look at that.

That just goes to show
how big those elephants are.

That's insane.

We need to keep our head
on a swivel.

Turn around.
There has to be fish in there.

There's already a little dam
from the stream being pushed

so hard.

And then past that is
almost still water.

Yeah, they're gonna be
in these pools here.

There are little
baby frogs everywhere.

There's crickets.

It's just an endless
supply of bait.

Yep.

This is a great opportunity,
great chance,

new life, potentially.

You could see to the bottom,
so it makes fishing

and identifying that there's
fish a lot easier

than the stagnant mud hole
that we were at.

I think I'm gonna work
on a fish basket.

Hopefully, I can finally
catch something.

We're gonna get 'em.

I know he's feeling a little
down that he may not find

anything, but I'm
feeling confident.

Please, Jesus, please just
let this, as soon as it hits

the water somehow, some way,
you bless me with this fish.

Just let it-- just let it be.
Just let it be.

Finding food is critical
in so many points.

One, my body's telling me,
"Andrew, we're needing it.

"It's four days since we've
had a meal.

Let's get something."
But also just the mental boost

to say that you can do this.

That looks like that's just
catfish heaven under there.

Gonna put some lines
out, trotlines.

We haven't had any luck
on trotlines.

Maybe that's the one.

This is ideal.

We have a perfect setup here
for a fish basket,

and I truly believe
this can be my win,

and I really need one of those.

All right, so you're gonna take
one, two, three, four,

five, almost like in a little
circle, and you're gonna

stick it into the mud.

Then you're gonna take
all five, gather it to the top,

and then you're gonna take
some, like, vines or saplings,

and you're gonna
basket-weave them

throughout the whole thing.
What you end up with

is a round basket
that comes up to a cone.

Then you make a smaller one
and you put it inside.

Fish can go in, but they can't
turn around and come back out.

They're in there.
It's gold.

I've failed at getting food.

It's something that
I'm supposed to be good at.

It's getting very...

heartbreaking and frustrating
right now, um,

to try to hold it together,
knowing that Nicole is

counting on me.

Seen a little catfish.
He didn't take the bait.

He's just kind of pecking
at it.

He swam out
of that hole, though.

About four, five inches long.

It's time to nut up or shut up
and get that fish.

He definitely is in there.
Get your big a*s out there.

Come on.
Come on.

Take it.
Come on.

Come on, baby.
Take this bait.

Take it, baby.
Baby, please take it.

Come on.
Come on.

Take it.

Take it.
Come on.

- [bleep] yeah!
- You got one?

[bleep] yeah!

Come on.
Come on.

Take it.

Take it, come on.

- [bleep] yeah!
- You got one?

[bleep] yeah!

No, don't come off,
don't come off!

- Ah!
- Come here!

Are we having fish for lunch?

Oh, my goodness!

Oh, we are having fish!

I'm gonna get the fire ready.

- This was so worth it!
- Yeah!

All right, this is
a game changer.

Africa had me on my knees
questioning my abilities on

if I could actually do this,
catch any fish.

Been trying to do this
for a couple days now,

and look what we got here.

Big old catfish!

Look at that,
bigger than my head.

I got a big old head.
Look at that.

Africa trying to tell me
I can't fish.

Look at that.
I can [bleep] fish.

Yeah, son!

Listen to that sizzle.
You hear that?

Just sizzling.
Mm, son!

Look at that white meat.

- Look at how delicious.
- Yeah.

- Cheers.
- Cheers.

Mm!
That's good.

God.

Mm.
What do you think?

Oh, my God.
I could cry.

This is so good.
It's just so juicy.

Mm!
Mm-hmm.

- Oh, my gosh.
- Mm.

And you said you needed
some protein?

You provided.

One of my biggest things
that I wanted to do here

was to first time in my life
be proud of myself.

I came from this shy
little boy, battling depression

and a purpose of existence.

This fish tells me that

I deserve to be proud of myself.

I'm a good enough person
to be proud of myself

with what I've overcome in life,
but also even here.

- Big victory today.
- Huge victory.

We caught us a fish.
Bang!

That's some good stuff.

This trip over here was
worth every minute.

Mm-hmm.

I am so thankful and grateful.

We have a fish basket started.
He has a fish in his hand.

Juicy.
I mean, look at that.

Just beautiful.

To me, that is not
a fan anymore.

We are survivalists,
and this is just what we needed

to say, "We got this.
We know what we're doing."

- Mother Nature provided.
- That's right.

What the [bleep]?

I'm so happy this is done.

You should be.

It's a messy one,
but it is going to work.

Do you wanna hold it?

Yeah, I'll hold it
right there.

- I did it!
- You did it.

It fits.

- Look at that.
- I did it.

- Look at that.
- Let's show the world.

Last night was really tough
with all the noises

of the animals all night long.
Andrew didn't sleep well.

I didn't sleep well.
But today is a new day.

So we're gonna catch
some fish today.

- There we go.
- Yeah, right there, like that.

That's what I'm talking about.

And now we bring these in.

The stream that we're in
is set up perfectly

for a fish basket.

It had a natural dam,
so we added to that,

and we are forcing the fish
to go into that basket.

Come on, baby!

There's gonna be fish in there.

[bleep], I do not wanna lose
any water.

- All right.
- Pour another one?

No, no.

I'm not thirsty, so,
but I'll be OK.

Gonna go downstream
and check those lines

real fast.

I wish he would drink more.
This is Africa.

It is hot, right?
It's hot.

It's humid.
You can get dehydrated.

He has not had water
in like three hours, and...

I hand it to him,
he takes a sip,

but I can't force him to drink.

So what do you do?

- It's a struggle.
- Yeah.

- Up and over.
- Mm-hmm.

It's day seven.
We're halfway through

the challenge, and, you know,
we're running on fumes.

Right now, I bet you
we are averaging,

it'd be less
than 100 calories a day

when we're used to eating,
you know, 2,000.

So, the only way to get
out of this thing is we have

to find fish.

All right, fish trap, I know
you're gonna do fabulous.

And...

Nope, not today.

- Nothing.
- Nothing?

- No.
- OK.

Andrew and I have been
busting a*s,

and I've been working
real hard on providing.

I'm a checklist-person,
and having the snare

and the fish basket
and all those

on a checklist and nothing,
like, checked,

I feel like
I'm not contributing.

You're not bringing home
anything, and, you know,

it's frustrating to me.
I just want a success.

I want a win.

Sun's starting to break
through the trees up there.

It's gonna be hot.

Oh, try some.
It's delicious.

Right now, I'm just,
I'm not thirsty right now,

so you know
how I am with chugging.

- Yeah, you're not a chugger.
- I'm not much of a chugger,

'cause...

just doing that just makes me...

- Yeah, we don't want that.
- ...nauseous.

I'm concerned
about my partner.

He definitely doesn't feel
thirsty, so he doesn't think

he needs to drink.
That worries me.

Dehydration is
a danger out here.

We both threw up on day one.

I'm scared that, at the rate
that he's going,

he is gonna be in trouble.

Yeah, I'm getting slower.
I can feel it.

This is a deep hole, too,
and how the sun's shining on it,

might be pretty good fishing

to change things up
a little bit.

Running low on energy,
very, very low.

Getting kind of weak,
getting harder to get up.

When I exert myself, it does--

it's just like breathtaking
in a way.

It just takes your breath away.

I'm hurting, my body hurts.

It feels like every joint
in my body is wanting

to poke out the sides,
whether it's my elbows,

shoulders, spine, ribs.

Getting slower.
Getting kind of weak.

Got them cat-like reflexes.

Uh-oh, [bleep].

It's rough right now,
and the water levels are

dropping, which affects biting.

And with our energy lowering
and lowering, it's harder

to throw that line out there.

May be fish in here.
There are, I'm sure.

Big enough to get on the hook,
but should have brought

even smaller hooks.

I guess their mouths are
shaped smaller or something,

but they are not wanting
to take it.

Got him-- oh!

-
mother[bleep]!

[bleep] tired of this [bleep].

It's just frustrating.

This is supposed to be
what I do.

This is what-- you know,
I catch fish.

But now when the [bleep]
is on the line,

you can't catch [bleep].

I'm tired.
I'm hurting.

Maybe it's time to go home.

Oh.

I'm feeling
kind of-- a little weak.

Every bone in my body hurts.
And my back is k*lling me.

My legs have cramps
starting to creep in.

I'm sorry you're not
feeling fabulous.

It's just real tired
and kind of...

hard to get,
you know, it's hard to think,

like there's a blanket
over my brain or something.

He needs to drink.
I can see it on his face.

It is essential for his body.

He's already in probably
stage three of dehydration.

I am very concerned...

about you...
with water.

Oh, yeah, I mean,
I'm just frustrated right now.

I mean, my brain ain't even
thinking about it.

I know, but do you mind
if I say something

and then just say
if I'm out of line?

Tell me anything you want.

- Your back hurt, mine doesn't.
- Mm-hmm.

- Your calves hurt, mine don't.
- Mm-hmm.

- You're not thirsty, I am.
- Yep.

- You're not sweating anymore.
- Yep.

All of that is dehydration.

It's gonna take, and this is
a fact, it takes triple

the amount of water intake

to get you back
from dehydration.

I absolutely love Nicole.
She's the greatest person.

We take care of one another.
We look out for one another.

Hard-headed, I struggle
accepting help.

But this here, you have to.

You know, if you don't accept
the help and you let the ego

get in the way, you're done.

Look at you chugging!

I love it, uh-huh.

I think relatively close
to the water,

with just how
they were walking.
- Yeah--

Their strides aren't very big,
but they go in groups.

We've been seeing the Egyptian
geese walking along our pond,

same path every day.

Catching one of those geese
will push us through

till day 14.

OK, yeah, I can see
bird prints right there.

- Awesome.
- So, I was thinking,

jab it in, and then put
that snare right there.

I came here with an idea
of what I wanted to do,

and I feel like I'm
running out of time.

I know I'm hard on myself,
but I'm just disappointed

in what I've brought
to the table.

I just wanna be successful,
and I wanna be successful

in the things that I've been
working hard for,

and it's so frustrating.

You may let it stick up,
so then it catches him

a little bit.

His foot gets in there,
he can't, he doesn't pick it up

very high, drags it,
tightens up around his foot,

and he can't get off.

I'm going to get something
in my snares or my fish basket.

I'm here to do that.

I mean, that's all you can do.

We got this day, Andrew.

Oh, I know,
it's just frustrating.

It's--

I feel like my momentum has
kind of hit a wall, you know?

I'm exhausted
from being out here.

I'm really tired.

Oh, my God, Andrew.
I see a snake.

Get that stick.

- Do you see it?
- Mm-mm.

- Oh, there he is up there.
- Here's my chance.

Damn, that's a baby
black mamba, be careful.

- Come here, help me.
- All right, let's see.

Come on.

Ugh, where'd you go?

Be careful.
Don't let him bite you.

I know, I know.
Where'd you go?

I just scared him,
and I stirred up the mud.

We gotta get it.

- Andrew, do you see it?
- Mm-mm.

- Went downstream.
- Yeah.

Nicole, that was
your [bleep] chance.

I see a snake in the water.

Perfect, perfect opportunity.
He goes up the bank.

And what do I do?

I fling it back
into the frickin' water

like an idiot.

The one [bleep] snake
we see in Africa.

Mm-hmm.
And try to [bleep].

I just need a minute.
So [bleep] stupid.

You're good, you're good.
Go do what you gotta do.

Like...

All I had to do was take
the side of the stick,

place it on him.
I had the knife in my hand.

I could have just done it,
but you're just so tired

and you don't think,
but that was--

we're so hungry.

Oh, I'm so mad at myself.

I'm disappointed.

I have been-- that's all
I wanted to do here in Africa.

What she's feeling is
the same thing I felt.

And it felt like I was
just this big,

stupid-a*s loser that, um...

talked all this stuff about how
he could fish and survive

and just to let
my partner down.

I have been putting
in the frickin' man hours,

sun up to sun down.
I have not [bleep] stopped.

I've gotten nothing,
nothing accomplished

on my list.
Nothing.

And we only have
four more days.

Maybe I'm not a survivalist.

Maybe I'm not supposed
to be here.

Maybe I'm not a survivalist.

Maybe I'm not supposed
to be here.

Maybe I'm supposed to just
go back doing hair.

Need a little more time,
or can I come talk to you?

You can come talk to me.

Come here, bring it in,
bring it in, bring it in.

It's gonna be OK,
I get the frustration.

It's give-and-take
with me and Nicole.

You know, when she's down
and needing a boost, I'm there.

And then whenever I'm down
and need a boost, she's there.

Who [bleep] flings it back
in the water?

- Who [bleep] does that?
- I know, I know.

I know.

It's OK.
I get it.

And there's gonna be
other opportunities.

We have four days.

- I know.
- We waited 10 days

to see a [bleep] snake.
- I know.

I know I'm good at what I do.

And I don't even have
the time to prove it.

But this is our first

in an environment like this.

There's a lot
of trials and errors.

And you have a right
to feel how you feel.

You have that right.

But do not undermine
what you've done,

what you've accomplished.

Yeah, we've got four days left,
but there's a lot of things

that can still happen.

Africa, it knocks you
on your a*s real fast.

So my message to Nicole to know
that it wasn't catastrophic.

It's OK.
You'll be fine.

Just keep pushing.

We turn that page,
and we move on from it.

OK.

In my daily life,
I've never failed anything.

At home, I'm this confident
mentor, boss-lady, mom.

I'm the one
with all the answers.

I'm the one people go to.

My self-esteem is lower
than I've ever felt before.

But Africa has showed me
that I am hard on myself.

And I gotta give
myself some credit.

At least I'm still trying,
and I won't stop that

till the end.

We have to secure protein.

I'm gonna catch
as many frogs as I need to,

and I'm just gonna fish
the day away.

I just want a success.
I want a win.

I came out here to be
that savage warrior princess.

I'm gonna get fish.
I'm gonna get fish.

Trying to catch
one last frog for bait.

I'm just here to support you.

Oh, that's a big one.

No, no, no, no!

Ah! [frustrated gibberish]!
No!

Oh, you jerk off!

I have not been able
to secure food.

Nothing has been
successful yet, but...

it's on, like, overdrive now.

Got him.

I'm going ba*ls to the wall
and just give it my all.

You OK?

Yeah, just really tired.

Wish we could get some protein,

but I just don't think
it's likely.

And so, for me, it's kind of...

preserve what protein
I've got left, and...

not fight it.
- Hopefully I can step
up for the team

when we need it the most.

I'm discouraged because
the water levels are dropping,

which affects biting.

Very iffy on whether we're
gonna get anything today.

You know, it seemed like a lot
of the fish are probably

moving downstream.

This is the deepest part
of the pond.

Oh.

Oh!

- Yes!
- Yeah.

There you go.
Get it in here.

Yes!
Oh!

Here we go.
Here we go.

- Oh, you want me to do it?
- Yeah-- whoo!

Sorry, I thought
I'd never scream.

I hate the people who scream.
I got frickin' lunch.

There you go.

I just caught a fish.
This is so important.

The morale is going to be
so much better.

We really, really needed this.

I could cry right now.

- I literally just...
- There you go.

You did amazing!
We needed you and you did it.

And I really needed this.

Oh, I love it for you.

I'm glad this happened for you.
This is amazing.

Today she had the goal.
She wanted to catch a fish.

She wanted to get protein.

And she teared up and was very
emotional about it, because...

her big thing has been
she doesn't contribute.

And for her to catch that fish,
it was very overwhelming

for her, and I'm
very proud of her

for her to be able to do that
and feel that way.

But always whenever we needed it
the most, one of us delivers.

- Every time.
- Every time.

Mm-hmm.

I couldn't have asked
for a better partner.

I couldn't have either.

I mean, I couldn't have
wrote it.

If I had a script to write it,
I couldn't have done it

any better myself.

- This has been a crazy ride.
- It has.

- Got it?
- Yeah.

Whoop, whoop!

- All righty.
- All right.

So we'll cook this guy.
Yummy.

I could have called it quits,
but I didn't.

I'm so proud of myself.

I knew I can do it
when we needed it most,

and I am so ecstatic right now.

All righty.

Mmm, I'm so excited.

Oh, I'm so thankful
for this right now.

Mmm, mmm, mmm.

Mmm!

Oh, my God.

Mm, damn that good.

Yeah.

I'm picking every damn thing
off this thing.

It's been a real struggle
to catch fish and just

any food in general, you know.

The struggle's real out here.

So, I mean, right now,
both of us are very sluggish.

And there was a fish.
There was lunch.

But it's just exhausting
out here.

You underestimate it
when you're watching the show,

it's just...

that everything takes energy
to just do anything.

Of course, we all want
the big wins, but sometimes

the small ones are what make us.

You know, foraging is just
the last chance to really

secure food to get ready
for extraction.

And I would love to be able
to get that win for both of us.

Aha, yes.

- Andrew!
- Hey.

- Found monkey fingers!
- There you go!

Pick the hell out of 'em.
How many you got?

Oh, made my day, made my day.

- Bunch of 'em?
- Yes!

Do you need help?

Yeah.

I'm gonna try to get
as much as I can.

Oh, this is...

great.

Oh, I see some
over here.

Perfect!

There's some here.
Ah!

This is pure joy right here.

Oh, they look
so ripe and delicious.

We have an abundance
of monkey fingers.

This is exactly what I needed.

- OK.
- All right,
you got 'em all?

Yep.

Ready to head back?

- Mm-hmm.
- All right, let's roll.

Mm.

Out here on "Naked and Afraid,"
you don't have a ribeye steak

on your table.

Mm.

They're good.
That's a boost.

- Mm!
- Mm.

That's what I'm talking about.

And here I am with a smile
on my face, tasting new food,

monkey fingers.

It doesn't have a whole lot
of calories to it,

but it's gonna help us
in the long run.

- What the [bleep]!
- g*dd*mn.

What is that?

Last night was rough.

Last night was a zoo.

We heard all the animals,
hyenas, elephants,

hippos, a water buffalo
I'm sure of.

It was insane.
All in the same

watering hole
and just feet from our boma.

All right.

All right, Andrew.
We are going to get bait.

All right.

I'm really, really feeling
good about the fishing.

To make extraction,
we really need that energy

and that nutrition
to get out of here safely.

So hopefully we get another one
to get a little bit more.

Maybe a grasshopper
will land on you again.

Mm-hmm.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my goodness, elephants.

Oh, my God!

Oh, my goodness, elephants!

Insane.

Yeah, it's an elephant.

Elephants are just so majestic.

But it's big,
it's scary, and it's starting

to become an issue.

There's danger
around every corner.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

I cannot just explain
what just happened.

My heart is like,
.

I gotta calm down.

In recent days, local herds
have been encroaching

on Nicole
and Andrew's location.

Elephants remember
smells and people.

If an elephant feels their
territory is being invaded,

they will perceive it
as a threat,

which would trigger
a deadly charge.

I'm gonna show
y'all something.

That...

elephant.

And that is our boma,

which is right there.

All these tracks.

So the threat in this show
is very, very real.

It doesn't get any realer
than this, you know.

Anybody think,
"Oh, it's staged,

it's this, it's that"
Uhn-uhn.

That's real [bleep].
That is a real [bleep].

Like, the storm is like
super, super close to us.

I just felt a raindrop.
The wind is shifting, um...

I'm kind of freaking out
a little.

All right, so we're kind
of in a [bleep] spot right now.

There's lightning from 11:30...

[bleep] about 2:30-ish--
it's all light.

And Nicole's worst fear is
being wet and cold.

We have a little canopy,
but that doesn't matter

if it's a complete torrential
downpour with lightning.

And I hear the hyenas
in the background.

No, I'd rather be surrounded
by hyenas than this.

This is like, one
of my worst nightmares.

Oh, [bleep].

We go from elephants
to having my worst fear,

wet and cold.

Africa has not let me down.

Ah!

Everything is wet right now,
but we have been able to save

our fire in a downpour rain.
So I think that is a win.

Our feet was getting
covered with, um...

It was a pond in here.

Yeah, it was getting
to be a pond.

And most people may not
believe it and be like,

"Oh, it didn't rain
that damn hard,

if they still got a fire going
like that."

Oh, no, it rained that hard.

We made it, but it sucked.

Crazy, crazy morning.

An elephant was 10 feet
away from us.

There's big animals here
that could hurt us.

I know.

We're getting closer
to extraction.

Do you wanna have that convo?

It may be more beneficiary
to us to, um...

try to go a little ways,
build a temporary boma,

and, um...

- Do it in two...?
- Do it in two days.

We just have to be careful,
'cause we all know the area,

and watch for predators, yeah.

So I think it would be
a good idea.

- Let's do it a two-day trip.
- All right, so, yeah.

- Mm-hmm.
- I agree.

All right.

Elephants are getting closer.
It's time to move on.

I did not work this hard
just to fail my extraction.

So you're 100%,
we're leaving today?

Not a doubt in my mind.
You?

All right.

- Let's do this.
- Let's open this boma.

All right.

Africa's not letting us
out easy.

You know, she's gonna throw
every punch she can

before we go down.

You just keep rolling
with the punches.

- All right, so we're here.
- Mm-hmm.

- Extraction is there.
- Mm-hmm.

We just walk as far as we can
safely and figure out

the best spot to stop at?
- That's right.

I don't see any, like...

like, super sweet spots,
so I guess it's whatever

we think we can handle
and go from there.

After 13 days in Zambia's
Luangwa River Valley,

Nicole and Andrew have decided
to begin their extraction

one day early due to the threat
of local elephant herds

encroaching on their location.

To reach their extraction point
in the next two days,

they'll face a six-mile trek
through dense forest

along steep creekside
drop-offs, stopping midway

to shelter overnight.

Definitely don't wanna exert
a lot of energy building

the boma, so we need this
to be, um...

already almost built for us.
- Absolutely.

I had a little freak-out
session last night

because the elephants
came through.

I was confident in the boma
we built for protection,

but they can come really close,
and it is a dangerous situation.

Our first priority is
protect this fire.

- We'll get us a coal real fast.
- All right.

And some of these are soaked
and still burning.

Go us!

We're gonna get this big coal
here because it is wet

and we may need it to help us
get our fire going.

Absolutely.

We'll get one more
just to be safe.

- Yeah, get that.
- Yeah.

Yeah, that'll be perfect.

There we go.
All right,

well, let's get this show
on the road.

Careful, it's slippery.

Mm-hmm.

- Bye, boma!
- Gotta get it going.

Thank you!

Some people I see on the fan
Facebook pages, they say,

"Oh, Africa is one
of the easier spots."

No.
Big fat lie.

Nope, nope, nope.

You're wrong.
Africa's hard.

Be careful.

Of course, we just went
through the mud

with footing.
- Yeah, that was tough.

You know, don't wanna
break an ankle.

- It's so slippery.
- But also,

it could be that snakes
and other things could be

on the move, too, so gotta be
mindful of that.

All right.

You gotta keep your head
on a swivel because, I mean,

you don't know
what's hunting you.

You know, it's tall grass.

Snakes, lions could be
in there.

I mean, it's ridiculous
of all the different things

that could get you
and you can't see 'em.

I hope that the weather
stays like this.

Yes.

'Cause the sun is not
gonna be our friend.

- No.
- Especially we got

a little late start
'cause of that storm.

Yeah.

Lean back and let your staff be
your extra foot.

Jab it and kind of lean on it
a little bit and put

that weight on them heels
so if you do fall,

you fall backwards
instead of on your face.

Extraction is taking a toll
on the body right now.

The feet with new thorns,
grass whipping across my legs,

opening up wounds,
a little razor grass,

the bugs biting.

This trek is harder
than what we did coming in.

Oh, yeah.
I mean, absolutely.

I'm so glad we didn't do this
all in one day, Andrew.

Me too.

The river that we are on,
it is muddy.

It is wet.
I am shivering.

I'm cold.

So I think right here is
the closest clearing

we're gonna get,
you [bleep]...

a lot of critters have
been crossing.

So if the critters say
it's OK, then...

All right.

I'm a little nervous
about crossing this, Andrew.

- Mud is not my friend.
- OK.

Damn critters.

Be real careful
and watch them ankles.

Do not roll an ankle.

And use your stick
as like a third leg.

OK.

And if you fall,
fall backwards.

I have to go sideways.

Let's see.

That is not my forte.

I'm sorry I'm being
a baby about this.

You're fine.
You'll be safety first.

Don't roll no ankle.

There you go.
Dig them feet

and dig them toes
in that ground.

Oh, [bleep], [bleep], [bleep].

Use that staff.
Use that staff.

All right.
OK.

All right.

All right, now the next
challenge is going

across here carefully.

You ain't going see no croc
in that, you know,

and other snakes that are
moving because they got

washed out.
So here we go.

You ready?
Use your staff as a third leg.

All right.

But do not let the point get
past any part of your head

so that if you fall,
it won't stab you.

I suck at this part.

The terrain, it's treacherous.

It's a challenge
and very difficult.

But the only way out
is through.

I suppose, is that light
at the end of the tunnel

that this is almost over,

and it gives that body,
those feet,

just a little bit more oomph.

All right, be careful,
it's getting steep again.

Uh, I thought you were
prepared for everything.

Made it to the bottom.

- Damn.
- You OK?

Yeah.
Of course, at the big a*s hill,

I'm fine.

And then,
the little one gets you.

Uh-oh...

It's just gonna be
a little harder.

Yeah.

If we can't get fire,
we won't have water

for the rest of this extraction.

Makes me a little nervous.

I feel like we're halfway.

It's a good time to look at,
see if this will be a spot

for our...
- Oh.

To spend the night.

Something small,
something easy,

little energy as possible
to make.

Somewhere in here
would be good.

I mean, we have coverage
from the rain if it rains,

a little bit.

Build it in this area here.

Circle it here.

This tree here helps us
not need as much material.

OK.

And then you circle it back
around, back to that tree.

And then now we've gotta
build fire.

- Yeah.
- In this very humid, wet...

environment.

- OK, let's make it happen.
- Yeah, OK.

But anything somewhat dry,
even if it has thorns,

I'm putting out here.

Takes a little bit of energy
building another boma.

It's too early to tell
if it's a good payoff

or if it's a gamble
that'll cost us.

I'm already tired,
I'm already hungry.

This could be the end of us
because of dehydration

or burning calories.

The biggest risk is not
making extraction.

I just hope we can get us
a fire started.

We need to get
some water going.

All right, some of this has
thorns, but it's super dry.

Mm-hmm.

The sun's going down.
Time is of the essence.

We are building a boma,
collecting firewood,

starting a fire.

All of that is going
to exert energy.

And we're gonna get
so much magnesium.

We're gonna use that really,
really dry leaf.

Our plan was to bring a coal.
That failed.

So we had to start
from scratch,

start a brand new fire,
just like we did on day one.

We are [bleep] if we cannot get
the fire going.

It's not just water,
but even the predators

keep them away.

- Andrew.
- Mm-hmm.

- we have fire!
- We have fire.

Fire.

Now we just gotta
keep it together.

All right.
Oh, [bleep].

It's like, all right, I gotta
go find smaller pieces.

That scares me.

It's like already almost out.

Yep, it burned
all the small stuff

and all the big stuff just...

it don't wanna take
'cause it's so wet.

Yeah, we gotta
keep that going.

All right, this wood's dry,

it has green,
but like, it's almost out.

We have to get this back.

We cannot let that
happen again.

I don't know, you sure
this green stuff good?

I mean, it's burning,
so any of this will work.

Yeah, but I mean, look
at that, what you just gathered,

it's soaking wet, you know, so.
- But it's burning, so.

Well, not that one.

It's these little things
that are burning.

The hard stuff that we have
on here, it's not.

I got water sizzling
and boiling out one of these

'cause it's so saturated.

Very frustrated with Andrew.

I don't know if it's because
he genuinely wants to help

or if it's... he wants
to outdo me.

I'm not sure.

We're not outdoing each other.

We're just here to survive.

'Cause right now,
none of the stuff that we've got

is usable other than this little
stuff unless we can get

this stuff to dry out
within the next couple minutes

'cause the stuff that's being
gathered is...

is very, very, very wet.

She's just throwing wet
green wood on the fire,

and it's gonna k*ll it,
I mean...

It was hard enough to light
because we don't have a coal.

She might as well be
throwing water on it.

I don't get it.

I'm thirsty.

- No, I know.
- I'm worried.

I'm not trying to be mean.

I just, like, this is
literally like .

No, there's nothing to be
mean about.

It's just, I'm just simply
stating is that everything

that you're bringing is soaking
wet, which is everything.

- But it's burning.
- So we have to try
to dry it out.

This is not usable stuff.

We came here with no water.

This could be the end of us
if we cannot stay positive

and keep our heads together
and get this fire started.

Like, we can't just not
put something on it

because it's wet.

I mean, you wanna throw
some of this wet stuff on it

and see what happens?
- We can put one,

at least, a smaller one,
just to, like, start it.

Let's throw this wet one
on here and see what happens.

Don't be a d*ck about it
and, like, smother it.

You know, so we're
on our extraction walk,

and as fans, you know,
you're watching the show,

you're watching
your survivalists,

and you don't think
about the crew.

Who's up?
Who's up?

Take it slow
and be careful, OK?

They go through the same crap
as we do, the same nasty mud,

slick mud.
- Oh, [bleep], here I go.

- I'm gonna fall.
- --
you're sliding.

- You're definitely sliding.
- I believe in you, Phil.

Technique.

- Technique!
- Oh!

Silver Surfer!

Ooh!

Yeah, so, you just gotta
commit to it.

Oh!

Send it.

Oh, god!
Ooh!

They're in it with us,
so you got to see how they did.

There they are, one big family.

I mean, you wanna throw
some of this wet stuff on it

and see what happens?
- We can put one at least,

a smaller one,
just to, like, start it.

OK, let's throw this big
wet one on here

and see what happens.

Don't be a d*ck about it
and like, smother it.

No, we're gonna set it
right next to it,

and that's how it'll go.

That's looking better.

It's getting there, and I can
hear it boiling more and more...

water out of these logs.

I thought we might be screwed,
but in my frustration,

dumping that big pile of wood
on top heated up the fire

enough to get a big chunk
of it to ignite.

Listen, I'm sorry.
I'm thirsty.

- No, I know.
- I'm worried.

I know, but I mean,
I'm not criticizing or anything.

I feel the same emotions as you.

I shouldn't have reacted
that way.

It was not your fault at all.

If I had an issue,
I should have just said,

"Hey, Andrew, this is
how I'm feeling,"

and I didn't do that,

and I took it out on you,
and that wasn't fair.
- Yeah, right.

So I really do apologize,
and that should not

have happened.
- No, it's all good.

I'm not worried about it
either way, I just--

- It's just not fair, though.
- No, it's all good.

- I ain't worried about it.
- Can you forgive me?

I forgive you, there wasn't
nothing to forgive.

I was already, you know--
no-- no big deal with it.

Andrew, thank you.

Thank you for being
kind, caring,

a true southern gentleman.

Even at my worst,
we were able to communicate,

and that just means
the world to me.

I could not have asked
for a better partner.

Gotta finish it out
strong, 'cause this is it.

Right.
And we've been a team

from the beginning,
and we're doing it together.

- We only have each other's
best interest at heart.
- Yep.

Something out here
that I learned is that

you gotta give a little,
take a little,

and I'm so thankful that I have
Nicole with me on this journey.

She's a bright spot
to this world.

You know, she's, you know,
the world's better with her.

And I got me
a new best friend.

- We got this.
- Yep, we just got

a few more hours, then...

we go to sleep and have
to do this long, long hike,

and get the hell out of Africa.

We're skinny, we're tired,
we're weak.

And, you know, just even
seeing that elephant so close

and personal even takes
a lot of energy.

So to take two days of travel,
build another boma,

start another fire,
it's definitely a risk.

Has it been done?
I can't think of it, but...

On the fan challenge,
I don't think...

On the fan challenge.

We got this, though.
We can do this.

And go out...

smiling.

- Andrew.
- Yes.

- It is day 14.
- Yes.

I mean, it felt like
the longest night

of my life.

I think part of that was just
being anxious for being

today's day 14.

Everything we've endured,
everything we've learned

comes to play right now.

It's time to put it all
together, all the pieces

together for one final showdown
between us and Africa

to show that we're gonna
win it here in the end.

This is it.

Wow.
Whoo!

- All right, let's do this!
- Mm-hmm.

I cannot believe
we almost completed

a 14-day experience
in Zambia, Africa.

I know.

This is probably the weakest
I have felt in 14 days.

Lions, they definitely lurk
on prey that are weak,

and we are weak,
and we are slow.

Yep.

Just gotta be very,
very careful.

We still going the right way?

Oh, yeah.

Remember, trust me.
Trust unconditional.

- I got us.
- All right.

We're following the stream,
and that's what the map

says to do.
- This could be, like,

super snake area,

especially hiding from the rain.
- Yep.

- You hear that?
- Yep.

Yeah, I wonder what that is.

O-M-G.

Andrew, there are elephants
all up in this area.

All of them.
Look at that.

Elephant, elephant, elephant.
Crazy.

And that's scary 'cause
you can't even hear 'em,

and so, if they were literally
on top of you,

you wouldn't know it until...

...crushed.

You feeling OK?

I'm starting to get a little...

dizzier and weaker,
but I'm good.

OK.
Well, just let me know.

Want me to help you?

All right, I'm gonna
step on it.

Mm-hmm-- just watch
the sticks down there.

There you go.
Mm-hmm.

As the days went on,
I realized you can't

do this alone.

Andrew and I,
complete opposites or not,

if something's bothering us,
we talk about it.

If somebody's down,
the other one lifts them up.

You need your partner out here.

We're almost there.

Wait, do you hear that?

There's a waterfall.

That might be the river.
Oh, that might be the river.

- Hope so.
- Oh.

Please be the river.

So this creek should lead us
directly to the river.

It ends there,
it pours into that river.

I think we're there.

We gotta be there, right?

Oh, my goodness.
It opens up.

God damn!

This is it.
We're here.

We're here!

We're here.

Ah.

After 14 days...

we made it.
- That was so hard.

- It was hard.
- But we did it.

But we did it.

Made it to the end.

On "Naked and Afraid."

Africa, you're so beautiful,
but you're such a beast.

Mm... I got a different word
for it, but yeah.

I see something.
I see something!

- That's it,
that's it! Look!
- That's gonna be our ride.

Ah, we made it!
We did it!

And it's such a crazy,
surreal just experience

to finally feel that
in your soul.

I don't feel bad
at all anymore.

- We did it.
- I'm not dizzy.
I'm not anything.

Yeah.
Look at that.

That's our ride home.
That's our ride home.

- Come on over here!
- Hello!

Whoo!
We are no more fans.

- We are survivalists.
- That's right.

And we're going home.

I will never judge another
survivalist or fan challenge.

It is so much harder
than it looks on your couch.

Longest 14 days of my life,
and we are about to be home.

I was a fan coming into this,
but I am now officially

a "Naked and Afraid"
survivalist.

I have learned so much
about myself out here.

The good, the bad, the ugly.
It all came out.

I did not discover this crazy
demon warrior princess,

but I have discovered
a pretty cool Zambian queen.

Nicole completes the 14-day
challenge, losing 14 pounds.

Her final primitive survival
rating, or PSR,

jumps from 5.7 to 6.0.

- Let's go! Whoo!
- Let's go-- yeah, let's go!

- We freaking did this!
- We did it!

- All right, come on.
- All right.

What I've learned out here,
to give yourself credit,

you work your a*s off.
Be proud of yourself.

I advise to anyone that has
scars that they're hiding

or trying to heal from,
you don't have to regret

your past.
You don't have to wish

you could go in time machine
and fix it.

That amazing person
you are right now

is because of those things.

So heal from them,
but understand that that built

the character that you are
right now.

I was just a fan,
you know, keyboard warrior,

and now I'm a certified
"Naked and Afraid" survivalist.

To be able to say that
is like...

"What in the hell
are you talking about?"

Andrew lost 16 pounds.

His final PSR rises
from 6.6 to 7.0.

- Whoo!
- Yeah.

Goodbye, Africa.
Goodbye, Zambia.

- We did it.
- Mm-hmm.

We frickin' did it, Andrew.

- We made it.
- Goodbye, Zambia!

Whoo!

We gotta scoop some of this.

That's your mashed
potatoes, right?

- Yep.
- So you got 'em.

Want one of these bad boys?

I-- I'll take one.

- Aw.
- Damn, those are insane!

Steak and the mash,
rice, and the chicken.

You got your burger,
and you got your fried pickles.

What is that?
What is that?

That's the chicken.

Even though I just ate bugs
and [bleep] for the past

things mix.

It's everything
I've dreamed of.

Oh.

Like, I never thought you could
feel something like this

over some food.
Like, it's crazy, like...

You forget the small things.

- Mm-hmm.
- Extra boiled.

- Mm-hmm.
- Look how clear that is.

- Mm-hmm.
- No more monkey [bleep].

- That good?
- Yeah.

I know my body needs
to go slow, but you just...

You just can't.

- We did it.
- We did it.

- Last diary cam.
- That's it.

Done.

Love y'all.
Peace.

Peace out.
