[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

[CHUFFS]

[NEIGHING]

[ABRAHAM] "And behold a white horse,

and he who sat on it had a bow and

a crown and went off to conquer."

[DEBRA] What?

Revelation 6.

After the Astrodome show [SIGHS]

Selena is off to conquer the world.

So, you want horses

to pull her carriage?

Yes, horses and a carriage.

Also, more fan club calls.

- Same thing?

- Not getting what they paid for, yeah.

But now they're saying

things about Selena.

About Selena? Like what?

Debra, tell me.

That she's a fraud.

Get me Yolanda.

Okay.

[YOLANDA] It's entirely my fault.

Yes, I know it's your fault, Yolanda.

I'm asking how.

How do I have to get sued

to know that we're $20,000

behind on vendor payments?

I gave the checks to Martin to mail,

but I-I just didn't make sure he did.

I should have never done

that. I do not trust that man.

- He's

- Yolanda, please stop.

Don't do the Martin thing right now.

Look, I've paid the vendors. It's done.

But if you can't keep

up with all of this

- Are you firing me?

- No.

I am so grateful for your

work, your friendship.

Really?

Yes, Yolanda.

You're like family.

[SIGHS] I just put I

put too much on you, is all.

With the fan club and the boutique

and the new one in Monterrey,

nobody can do all that.

[SIGHS] Thank you.

So I asked Debra to help

you with the boutique.

[CELL PHONE RINGING]

[RINGING]

[BEEPS]

[SUZETTE SCREAMS]

- Where does it hurt?

- Oh, it's my ankle, Mom.

Oh, it hurts so bad.

- Slow down.

- Okay, okay.

- What did you do?

- I stepped in a stupid hole in the yard.

- Were you running?

- Was I running?

You used to run the yard

all the time and fall.

[GROANS] Yeah, no, I'm not seven, Mom.

- Ooh!

- Why don't you try and stand?

- It can't be that bad.

- [GROANS] Okay.

- Oh, no, no. [GROANS]

- Yeah?

- [SIGHS] Oh, this is bad.

- All right, hold on.

- Put this up here.

- Yeah. Ugh.

[MARCELLA] Here.

- Put these on for a minute.

- Oh, Mom, you got pizza rolls.

- You want me to warm some up for you?

- Yeah.

- Hey! No! I need them.

- We have another pack.

- [SUZETTE SIGHS]

- The kids will love it.

Does no one care about

my shattered ankle?

It's not shattered, drama queen.

- It's probably just a bad sprain.

- Oh, okay, just a bad sprain, AB?

Means I can't play the Astrodome.

You're right. I gotta go.

[MARCELLA SIGHS]

[MAN] There are a few tickets left for

the Houston Astrodome

Rodeo and Livestock

with Selena and Los Dinos,

but they're going fast.

Here's one from Selena

to get you in the mood.

["COMO LA FLOR" PLAYING]

[IN SPANISH] Do you remember that day?

Yes. Do you think she kept it?

I don't know.

Okay, here are another 2,000. [GRUNTS]

- And I think that's it.

- Dad, did you buy the ticket?

- Did you ace your engineering test?

- Yes.

That was the deal, honey.

Let's see.

- Look. [HUMS]

- [GASPS, LAUGHS]

This time you can watch from inside.

- Hmm? [LAUGHS]

- [GIRL] Thank you.

It's gonna be perfect.

[IN SPANISH] I love it.

[LAUGHS]

- Hey!

What do you think?

- [SIGHS] Bell-bottoms?

- Yeah, they're great.

You know the show's

being recorded, right?

Which means you're not gonna be able

to tell people that

you didn't wear these.

- Don't be mean. They're perfect.

- [CHUCKLES]

'Cause we're opening

with a disco medley.

- Disco?

- Yeah.

Why?

- Disco's making a comeback. That's why.

- [LAUGHS]

No, it's not. It's

trying to make a comeback.

And if you do anything to help it

I think I'm gonna have

to find a new wife.

Stop!

[IN SPANISH] Don't listen

to my husband. It's perfect.

turned out good. Yeah.

These are Bill's

um nephew's uniform. [CHUCKLES]

- What? How do you say T-ball in Spanish?

- You don't. I do.

[IN SPANISH] Uh, I'm helping

Bill's nephew's T-ball team.

- I could've done that.

- Oh, yeah? [LAUGHS]

- Yeah, if you'd give me a minute.

[IN SPANISH] Ah. Would

you like to speak Spanish?

- Yes.

- [LAUGHS]

to speak it to our kids.

I don't want them learning

it late like I did.

We have kids now?

Well, not yet.

[ABRAHAM] "Haven't got my package

yet. When's the package coming?"

They're all calling

about the same thing.

They're lying.

Why would they lie?

They want a second fan package

for free. You know how people are.

I would like to see

the fan club records.

Mr. Quintanilla, I grew the

fan club from zero to 5,000.

And I did it without getting paid

a dime because I believe in Selena.

I'm sorry there are people out there

who wanna take advantage of her.

It's not the people out

there that I'm worried about.

Where are the records?

My office, in the San Antonio boutique.

Good.

Bring them to me.

They're lying.

We'll see.

["BAILA ESTA CUMBIA" PLAYING]

His band already covers our songs.

Yeah. Weddings,

quinceañeras, graduations.

Whatever pays the

bills, right? [CHUCKLES]

We've been there.

Was it fun?

Was what fun?

Back then. It's all kind of a blur.

You mean freezing our

butts off in an old bus?

Never knowing when we were gonna eat?

I don't know, Suzette. I

wouldn't use the word "fun."

[SELENA] What happened?

Suzette, your ankle! Nobody told me.

- We have to postpone the show.

- What? No.

- Yes!

- Selena, it's the Astrodome.

- Yes, it's the Astrodome. It's huge.

- Yeah, I know, and it's sold out.

Y'all are saying the same

thing, but you're yelling it.

Hang on.

Uh, can you give me one second?

Suzy, I don't wanna do

the show without you.

It is what it is, Sel.

It'll be fine. I'll do

the rest of the tour.

Plus, it's too late. We can't cancel.

- Okay, yeah.

- Hmm.

- [CLICKS TONGUE] Hey.

- Hmm?

- Was it fun?

- Was what fun?

[SUZETTE] The early days.

- The van.

- Ah, Big Bertha. Driving all night.

Sleeping on top of each

other. Always exhausted.

- Freezing.

- Hot. My voice always ronca.

[SIGHS]

- No, it was a blast.

- I think so too.

[LAUGHING]

Okay, come on. We gotta go.

Whoa! Where you going?

We have to rehearse.

[SELENA] I have to talk

to those schoolkids.

- Then that perfume thing.

- [SUZETTE] Hmm.

Yeah, Sel, if you

wanna ever do the music

thing again, please

feel free to stop by.

Sure. When you're ready

to do "Dreaming of You."

I already told you. I

don't like that song.

I do. I want it on the English album.

Right. Because I have no idea

what's good for your voice.

No, because I like it. Because

Dad likes it. Suzy likes it.

- I haven't heard it yet but sure.

- See?

Just go.

[LAUGHING]

Come on.

[SIGHS]

[EXHALES]

I get so many fan letters

inviting me to their schools.

And when I can, I always try to go.

Why?

So I can tell you what my most

proudest accomplishment

is in my whole life.

Have any guesses?

- Yeah.

- A Grammy.

[LAUGHS] Yeah.

The Grammy was pretty

good. Not gonna lie.

But, um, much bigger than that.

It was getting my high school diploma.

Now, I'm not saying it was easy.

You try doing your homework in

a van full of snoring musicians.

[LAUGHING]

But [LAUGHS]

But I did it, because

education is just so important.

And if I can do it, you all can

do it. Stay in school! [CHUCKLES]

Um

Okay, I think I have time

for a few more questions.

Yeah.

Do you wanna be my girlfriend?

[LAUGHING]

[CHUCKLES] I'm married!

And you're too young.

Um

- Go ahead.

- Oh, me?

Oh, hi. My name is Sebastian,

and I wanna be a singer.

- I'm even in your fan club.

- Oh, that's really nice. Thank you.

I mean, I never actually got

my fan club stuff in the mail,

but that's okay.

No, no, that's not okay. Um

Why don't you meet me after, and

I'll take care of that for you, okay?

- All right. What's your question?

- Uh, how can I be just like you?

[LAUGHING]

Just embrace who you

are, and don't be afraid.

- Thank you.

- [SELENA] Hmm.

[SLOW-TEMPO MUSIC PLAYING]

[SINGING]

[CHUCKLES]

- I didn't know you had this.

- [LAUGHS]

- [CLICKS]

- [MUSIC STOPS]

- You were young, huh?

- Hmm.

- Our outfits have definitely improved.

- [BOTH CHUCKLE]

This is a number for a boy who

didn't get his fan club materials.

- [ABRAHAM GROANS]

- I gave it to Debra.

She said talk to you. What's going on?

You know

I worry about you now the same

way I worry about that little girl.

But I can't always be

where you are now

to keep you from getting hurt.

- Yolanda doesn't

- Dad, Yolanda's fine.

I talked to her about the vendor

lawsuit, and she feels really bad.

But if things are slipping through

the cracks, then that's on me,

- for taking on too much right now.

- [CHUCKLES]

I gotta keep a better

eye on things, that's all.

[SIGHS]

But I need Yolanda.

Okay? I got this.

[LAUGHS, KISSES]

Tell her I'll be fine.

- Okay.

- [CHUCKLES]

[SIGHS]

[RINGS]

Hello, who's this?

[WOMAN IN SPANISH] Who's this?

Abraham Quintanilla.

Mr. Quintanilla?

[ABRAHAM] My daughter

Selena said your son

didn't receive his fan club package.

[WOMAN] No, sir. He worked so hard

every weekend to pay for the membership.

The poor thing gets sad every time

he checks the mail, and it's not there.

Look, give me his name and address

and I'll make sure he gets his package,

and what would you say to a

pair of complimentary tickets?

Yes! My son's name is Sebastian.

Of course! Yes, please.

Thank you very much, Mr. Quintanilla.

Great.

Thank you, ma'am.

[SIGHS]

[NO AUDIO]

- [GEARS CLICK]

- [ENGINE SHUTS OFF]

Yes. Hello. Uh, I need to get inside.

Oh, okay. Now?

- Is Yolanda here?

- No.

Sorry. Everyone's gone home.

Selena sent me. There are some things

she needs from inside the office.

- I can go get them.

- Ah.

- Personal things. [CHUCKLES]

- Mm-hmm.

[KEYS JANGLE]

[CHUCKLES]

[UNLOCKS DOOR]

- Just pull the door shut when you go.

- Okay.

- And nice to meet you, sir.

- Yes.

[SIGHS]

- This is gonna k*ll her.

- I know. Selena trusts everybody.

But why, Dad?

Yolanda begged to be

the fan club president.

Yeah, like the wolf that

wants to guard the sheep.

It's up to the shepherd

to keep the watch.

Dad.

[PANTING] Yolanda called.

She said that you went

to San Antonio last night.

- No. Sit down.

- No. What is going on?

[HESITATES, SIGHS] I didn't

want you to worry about this.

- You got the Astrodome show

- Dad!

[HUFFS]

Yolanda's been stealing

from the fan club.

What are you talking

about? No, she's not.

I found these checks

and bank statements.

[SCOFFS]

And not just from the fan

club, Sel, from the boutiques.

And you.

No, I asked her about this. I

asked her about the missing money.

She said that it was

a mistake of Martin's.

And did you ask Martin?

I didn't wanna believe it

either, Sel, but it's true.

All this time she's been pretending.

She never cared about you.

- Dad, stop!

- Dad!

[SELENA] Don't say that.

She did care! She did! She

was my friend. She's helped me.

Selena!

[EXHALES]

Does a friend do this, huh?

I mean, sometimes money

makes people do crazy things.

We're just gonna ask her. That's all.

[ABRAHAM SIGHS]

I could just hear Dad thinking it.

"Focus on your music. Don't

spread yourself too thin."

- No, come on. He's not thinking that.

- No, he probably is, and

and he'd be right. I've been stupid.

No, Selena, you're not stupid.

You just have a really open heart,

and she took advantage of that.

It was just nice to have a

friend. I haven't had many friends.

- No?

- Mnh-mnh.

I don't think I knew that about you.

Yeah, we were always traveling.

Gigging on the weekends.

It was just family.

And then you.

It was nice to have somebody who

believed in me who didn't have to,

who thought everything I was

doing was okay no matter what.

Yeah, I know.

You're gonna have a lot of

people like that in your life.

I still think people are good.

I'm not gonna stop thinking that.

Well, good. You shouldn't.

But this one really, really needs to go.

Maybe she can explain.

She is not gonna take

this well. [EXHALES]

[MARCELLA] Food's ready.

That's why coming up, I only ever

trusted the business to family.

You still do.

That's right. Well, for good reason.

Ah, this woman. I just

I must have missed

something when I met her.

[SIGHS] Abraham, you

can't blame yourself.

Yeah, but I introduced

them. You [GROANS]

[EXHALES] She seemed harmless.

You know, and I've dealt with

shady characters. You know that.

[SIGHS]

I thought that she was okay.

You did the best that you could.

The kids, they're adults. They're

gonna make their own decisions.

But Selena's too trusting.

And AB thinks that he knows everything.

Suzette's the only one with

a lick of sense. [GRUMBLES]

You're still watching out for them.

Well, Selena's lucky you did.

We would have never known.

Let's eat.

It's a simple question.

I don't know.

You don't know who María Elida is?

She's my sister.

And yet she gets to write

checks from the fan club account?

And has exactly the

same handwriting as you?

Yolanda, say something.

This is your chance.

I didn't do anything.

[ABRAHAM] Who's Yvonne Perales?

I don't know.

But you wrote a check to her for $3,000.

- Selena.

- Don't look at her. Answer the question.

I don't know anything about this.

[SCOFFS LIGHTLY] Okay.

- I'm going to the police.

- No! Selena!

I'll I'll find the records. I swear.

And there's going to

be an investigation.

I will never hurt Selena.

I have spent 14 years

building her image up.

And I'm not gonna watch you destroy it.

And I can't fire you because

you don't work for me.

Only Selena can do that.

But I will tell you

that you are no longer

allowed to set foot

on Q Production properties ever again.

Are we clear?

I would never hurt my best friend.

[ABRAHAM] Hey.

Leave.

[GASPS]

[BEEPS]

Hi, Selena.

Uh, I don't know if you

got my message. Um

I just wanted to tell you that we got

the approvals for the

Monterrey boutique,

so I can have it open in

a month, if you want to.

- Um, so that's good news. [CHUCKLES]

- [BEEPS]

whole thing is a misunderstanding.

- [SELENA] Yolanda.

- [GASPS] Selena!

[LAUGHS] Uh

- Thank you for picking up.

- I'm sorry, Yolanda.

- What?

- I can't do this anymore.

Sounds like they belong to Selena.

[ABRAHAM GRUNTS, SIGHS]

What did I tell you?

You're gonna see who

I am, Mr. Quintanilla.

I promise.

[SELENA] Yeah, it's crazy.

When I was 15 years old, Michael

Jackson played here at the Astrodome,

and I actually thought, "No, I'm

gonna do that one day." [LAUGHS]

[MAN] Did you say

"want to" or "going to"?

I think I said "going to."

Did you think you would?

Yeah! Oh, that sounds bad,

huh? I just mean that

I don't know, I never really

think about things not happening.

I just I just do 'em.

- Now it's your third time here.

- Yeah, right?

And the crowds, they're just

getting bigger and bigger every time.

- What are you gonna open the show with?

- Oh, should I say?

[LAUGHS] I don't wanna spoil it. Um

- I'll just say "disco."

- Disco! Okay.

Giving the fans a taste

of your English album.

No, no, there's no disco on that.
