but he says he's got one on the burner
right now that we can't pass up.

with what I wanna do to both cars,
so I think it's worth the risk.

[Tony] I feel like
we're not having lunch for a month.

That'll offset the costs.

[Mark] I got big plans for these babies.

We built the Ferrari Spider
off my own design,

and I want to go
even bigger and bolder with these.

Nick already has a buyer lined up
for the white Tributo.

My mind has been going
a million miles an hour

with what I wanna do to it.

Everybody got their good, long look at it?

It ain't gonna look like this
in a few minutes.

Shawn, why don't you pull that up?
I'll get this one inside.

I'll take the yellow one
around the block a few times.

That thing looks wild, man.

[Jake] I've been working
with Nick a long time.

He brought me in last year
to help here at Gotham

along with my boy Brian.

Brian ended up leaving the shop 'cause
he had things he needed to take care of,

but I'm still super stoked to be
working with this team.

This is a little step up
from the last Ferrari, isn't it?

[Tony] A little bit.

Imagine this, we got to mess up a 360
and do what we do to it.

And now we get to do it with an F8.

The Ferrari F8 Tributo
was introduced to the market in 2019

with a sticker price of $300,000

and the most powerful V8 engine
that Ferrari had ever produced,

going from zero to sixty
in under three seconds.

[engine revving]

I've been excited for a while to get
this exact Ferrari model into the shop,

Because with the creative freedom
I'm gonna have,

I can finally transform this Tributo
into the car it was always meant to be.

So I'm gonna send it back old school
and pull it into the future.

I'm going to start by over-accentuating
the sleek Ferrari lines

that made them famous.

It's time to take this stallion
out of the barn and let it run free.

We'll lose the fenders, nose, and hood,

then carbon fiber a new front end look
that's higher and wider,

and exaggerate that inverted hood scoop
to give it a more menacing stance.

For the retro touches,
we're gonna swap out the modern headlights

with old school racing ones
and classic 1960 trim pieces.

Next, we'll widen
the rear quarter panels by a foot,

and add some monster wheels and tires
that eat up the road.

We'll cut deep scallops
into the back window

to show off the beast within,
the 710 horsepower Stallion V8.

To top it off, we'll give it
a retro green, white, and red paint job,

paying homage to the Italian flag
and the legendary Enzo Ferrari himself.

[Caveman] Let's cut it up.

Before he gets the Sawzall,
I need to get the approval of the client.

[Mark] I thought the client
was gonna let us do whatever we wanted.

Yes, hopefully, but he's gotta see
a list of the modifications

that you'll do to his car.

[Mark] I thought
once we proved with the Spider

that we could create desirable vehicles
with 100% creative freedom,

that Nick's other clients
would fall in line.

If you want him to buy the car,

then he has to be in
on the process up to that point,

and approve on
the modifications you wanna make.

[Nick] I know Mark wants free rein
to do whatever he wants to these vehicles,

but we've got to build trust
with these clients,

and that's a slower process.
These are six-figure vehicles.

The wrong decision could k*ll the value.

These clients are gonna want to be part
of the decision-making process

before any massive changes are made.

[Mark] Tell him what I wanna do.

I wanna start
tearing this thing apart right now.

I'll go make a call.

and mapped out on where we gotta cut it,

what we gotta take off and leave on.

He'll do an exhaust, but that's kinda it.

-Where's the profit margin in that?
-Well, it's in and out, and quick.

We're gonna satisfy
another Ferrari customer.

If we can get into that market,
really get a foothold,

then we do what you want.

I don't wanna be in the Ferrari
"put-exhaust-and-wheels-on-a-car" market.

It's a baby step. We have to move slowly.
No one wants to jump in.

So baby steps equals baby profit.

Well, honestly, Nick, um… I'm thinking
maybe we just do our Gotham thing

and try to find a different buyer.

[Nick] Getting one client to pay

for a Gotham Garage build
like the Ferrari Spider,

it doesn't open the floodgates

for other clients to wanna give
Mark carte blanche on a car build.

There's a process
to building this business.

It's going to take time. I've told Mark.

Some will give him creative freedom,

but other people
are gonna want a lot more control.

You could've done so much

We could actually just modify it
and find another buyer.

And I know you want to build this car
the way you want,

and we'd probably make
a ton of money on it,

but because we already have
a buyer lined up,

I mean, maybe we should just
live to fight another day,

and take this one.

I mean, I can agree on this car right now,
but not on the second one.

Um, that being said, we won't be spending
a lot of time on this car now.

This is gonna be a pretty quick flip.

So, you got anything else on standby
or lined up?

I've always got something going on.

So is hot air in a tire,

Exactly. But I almost passed on this deal,

because I thought we wouldn't have time
with the Tributo in the shop,

but the Pechanga Casino wants to do
a promotional giveaway

of a Gotham Garage designed vehicle.

Problem is,
they want to do it in two weeks.

Well, the two weeks is a tall order,
but what's the budget?

-It's 75 grand.

Just in case
we were gonna find time to do this,

I already got Joe at Speedway Motors
to line us up with a really cool car.

He said he'd give us a really good price.

prepping one of the garages

for this upcoming Pechanga build,

I've got Jake and Constance adding
an aftermarket exhaust

to that Ferrari motor.

It's gonna give it more horsepower
and add that unique Ferrari sound.

So, we're gonna go ahead
and pull this one out

and replace it
with an aftermarket titanium one.

-Cool.
-[Constance] It'll be loud, rumbly.

Heads are gonna turn. It's gonna give him
everything that he's looking for.

It'll look a lot better too.

-We just gotta be careful getting it out.
-Yeah. There's so many sensors in here.

I see wires, things clipped into things.

[Jake] There's a sensor in every piece,
it seems like.

I'd give it a little manhandling,

but everything on here is so expensive
that I want to be delicate.

We're replacing the original
two-piece exhaust system in this Ferrari

with an aftermarket
one-piece exhaust system.

[Constance] And generally speaking,
it should be a super simple thing to do,

but with all these sensors
and everything going on in this car,

it feels more like open-heart surgery.

on these premium vehicles,

we just really aren't equipped
to diagnose these things.

Redid the exhaust system,

When the '32 Ford Roadster was introduced,
it was unlike anything ever seen,

launching the hot rod expl*si*n
in Southern California.

With this car,
Ford introduced an all-steel body,

replacing wooden floors
that weathered and rotted,

giving the Roadster a much longer lifespan

and helping to cement its popularity
over the course of the next 90 years.

-Let's get it off the trailer.
-[Shawn] I'm excited about this thing!

Now that you've seen the car,
what do you think?

[Mark] I think we need some inspiration
for this build.

I got so much pent-up creative energy
that I couldn't use on the Ferraris.

I'm going to dump all of it
into this '32 Ford

and create the most badass casino car
that's ever existed.

Starting with
a stripped down '32 Roadster body,

we're going to install a 383 stroker motor
to give this hot rod a thumpin' heartbeat.

We'll add some custom casino themed pieces
to the grill, hood, trunk and air cleaner.

Then we'll take
all the gaming machine parts

that we got from Pechanga
and make our own rolling casino,

complete with working slot machine reels
in the dash as our main attraction.

-I think that's a pretty cool idea.
-Yeah.

First things first,
let's grab the 383 and the transmission.

Get it installed.
Make this thing be a driver.

-[Caveman] Look at that. Purdy!
-[Tony] Oh, man.

[Mark] The 383 stroker motor
is the quintessential hot rod motor.

[Mark] All right, Tony. Nice and easy.

[Mark] With a faster piston speed
and a greater amount of torque,

you barely have to tap the gas
to light up the rear tires.

This car with 440 horse
is going to get it.

on the Ferrari resolved.

Basically, we installed
an aftermarket exhaust on it.

And then after that,
now it's throwing a check engine light.

So, something went wrong
between that install at some point.

Mark can plug into the computer

and he can figure out
what's showing in the system.

[Constance] Yeah, this is fancy.

You know, the tech in these Ferraris
is mind-blowing.

And the tech to check that tech
is also mind-blowing.

[Eric] What do you see?

[Mark the technician] Um…
It looks like we've got a code

for the driver's side
exhaust gas temperature probe.

-Driver's side. That was you.
-I know, but I looked up.

On the secondary cats, there's two probes.
It's possible they could be switched.

That's common when people do the exhaust.

As great as these cars are,
they can be a little fickle sometimes.

-[Jake] Or more like a diva.
-That's for sure.

We'll have to open it back up,
switch it around.

We should be good to go.
No check engine light.

The passenger side over here
looks like it's on right.

-[Constance] Perfect. [giggles]
-Awesome.

Each section of two-piece exhaust system
that we installed

has two temperature sensors.

-[Mark the technician] If they switch--
-These two hoses?

-Yeah.
-Okay.

On the driver's side,
the sensors were swapped,

and that tripped up the car's system.

[Jake] Oh, yeah. That looks a lot better.

So, Jake switched 'em back.
Hopefully we're all good to go now.

-[Constance] Positive thoughts.

So how did it feel knowing that
your side was what put us behind time?

that those hoses being backwards

the marquee part of this build.

So, it's coming along good.
I got a lot done here,

but I got a few little issues also.

I like the steering wheel.
That came out cool.

This is built in layers and comes apart.
So, if we wanna do a little leather wrap--

[Mark] This has to get wrapped.

-You can't touch that on a hot day…
-That's true.

…in a car with no roof.

-Maybe we just wrap this whole plate.
-[Mark] I like that one. It's an easy fix.

-[Tony] Yep.
-I'm seeing another problem right now.

You can't see the gauges
while you're driving.

Well, yeah. I mean, you kinda gotta…
peek over the edge to-- to take a look.

Um…

So, we might have to rig up something…

something different.

So, think about that.
I got another problem too.

The slot machine in the dash,
it looked like there'd be enough room,

but it's got this structure bar in here.

[Mark] So, what if we cut
on this line of the dash?

We could cut it out,
but it'll still hit that bar,

so, we would have to remake
that whole inner structure and move it.

So, I don't know.
How bad do you want these things to spin?

[inhales sharply]

It's kind of the point.

We could fabricate a whole new dash
to fit the reels,

but we have to give it away
in about a week and a half.

With the other stuff we have to do,
there just isn't enough time.

So we have to come up with something else.

[Caveman] Sounds like you got
a lot of work cut out for you, Tony.

-Yep.
-[Mark] Why you gotta point that out?

No, I'm just-- I'm just, you know,
thinking to myself out loud.

That's a lot to think about.

the finishing touches

on this Ferrari Tributo,

and Nick says the client's in love
with the satin white finish,

but he's open
to us putting a splash of color on it.

So, we're adding
a single tricolor racing stripe

that'll follow

to be our next high-end masterpiece.

A sequel, you might say, to what we did
with the 360 Ferrari Spider.

But the client wanted
something more traditional.

Yeah, it's not what I had in mind.

But it's still a Ferrari.

[Nick] Tributo's all done and on the way.

Client's going to be ecstatic.

-It looks fantastic.

-What's with the 488 Ferrari?

[Nick] It's gonna take a while.
I mean, it just is.

We got lucky with the 360 Spider.

But that car was built.
The guy could see the car.

Now we gotta get a guy to see the vision
of the garage.

That's gonna be a tough sell.

Mark has just simply got to be patient.

-Did-- You said patient? Okay.
-[chuckles] I know, right?

Mark is a visionary,
a creative guy, but patient, he's not.

Hmm.

to inject into the shop,

[Mark] Now that the Ferrari Tributo
is delivered,

we can focus all of our attention
on the Pechanga Casino car.

We've only got a few days
to get it finished.

While Constance is outsourcing
some new k*ller wheels and tires,

the rest of us are focused on building out
the casino elements of the car.

I've given Tony the task
of solving our two biggest issues,

figuring out a way
for the driver to see the gauges

and making the slot machine reels
in the dash actually work.

[Tony] Because the steering wheel is solid
and you can't see the gauges,

I went ahead and built this.

And so this is gonna be
the center console for the '32.

I water jet cut this panel,

and it's going to sit right between
the driver and the passenger.

So we can see all of our gauges,
and we can focus on the road.

[tool whirring]

[Tony] These buttons fit
right into our center console.

If I can get the slot machine
to work in the dash,

I definitely want one button
to make the reel spin.

So, now that I got a solution
for the gauges,

the bigger problem
is going to be the slot reels.

They're just too big to fit in the dash,
and they won't spin.

And now…

looks like I have to build
a slot machine from scratch.

This is the one upside
to never throwing anything away.

Power window motor from the Daytona.
This will work perfect.

I can make that spin.

That's the one.

Uh, Mark won't miss this.

[soft rock music playing]

[Tony] The problem with the Pechanga reels
is that they were too big for the space.

So to make our new reels work in the dash,

we're gonna shrink the circumference
but keep the width the same.

That thing hums.

That's gonna allow us
to use these reel symbols from Pechanga

in our slot machine dash.

Think that's gonna be it right there.

-[Tony] Hey, Mark!
-[Mark] Yep.

[Tony] You wanna check out
the slot machine?

So you got three independent reels.
They all spin on one axle. Ready?

[suspenseful music playing]

[Tony] She's alive.

Well, that's pretty slick.

I like how they don't take off
at the same time, like a real machine.

It's pretty impressive, dude.

-Those'll definitely fit in the dash?
-[Tony] Yep. They'll fit.

[Mark] Tony's mechanism is perfect.

With the slot machine reels working,
the other pieces will come together,

and we will have
a personal mini casino on wheels.

I like it. It looks cool.

I knew there was a reason
why I hired that guy.

[Tony] So, center console's in.
Dash is done.

Um, I think that's the last big problem
that I had to fix.

Now we just pull this stuff out
and roll it to the paint booth.

[upbeat music playing]

[Mark] This '32 Ford Roadster
has to be authentic.

So, for the paint job,

I'm gonna make sure that it represents
Pechanga Casino in all its glory…

by using the main color scheme
of the casino itself.

First, I'm gonna start
with a high gloss, jet black paint job

to give that car a sleek finish.

From there, gold accents will be added
to represent the Pechanga color scheme.

Then I'm going to top it all off
with a candy red, aluminum trim.

[Mark] And check that out.

-[Caveman] That's a pretty color.
-[Mark] That's a McLaren.

That is one shiny, badass ride.

-I like this.
-[Caveman] This is pretty.

-[Mark] This is what they call a car.

I do like it.

-This deal, you're gonna like.
-Yeah?

[Nick] I'm yet to see any real success
with a buyer for the yellow 488.

But I've been working through my contacts,
and this popped up.

It's a young guy,
and the family's got money.

-Yeah?
-This is his car.

-[Mark] Man.
-Really?

He understands the vision of the shop
and your vision.

He wants all the bells and whistles
Gotham Garage can give him.

-Really?
-[Tony] Is this a prank?

-[Mark] I'm waiting for the joke.

[Mark] The only way
the high-end business model works

is if we get top of the line, exotic cars
in here, and we totally Gothamize 'em.

Nick gets it, and he's totally stepped up.

I'm already seeing what this car can be,

This is a full-blown step
'cause it'll be on his Instagram,

it'll be on his YouTube channel
and God knows wherever else.

All his friends will want it.

This is where we need to be.

we need to make.

So Tony and I are mocking up these ideas
with tape and layout board,

so they can get a vision
of what it's gonna look like

when it's done.

This is a lot of creativity
and work that goes into it.

I'm really trying to think
about the functionality

and how it'll work day-to-day driving.

Like, the front-- the front splitter,
how are we gonna get up the driveway?

I mean, we talked about customization
and doing something,

but I was thinking something…

This is something.

When I talked to you
and I said you could customize it, man,

I was thinking something small like rims,

maybe paint the calipers,
a vinyl wrap, but there's no way.

Look at this.
Look how far this sticks out!

So that adds the fun.

That adds character.

It was perfection before it came in here.
