The average family home
contains thousands of items
we don't really need,
and living in all this clutter
is making us miserable.
But imagine if the entire
contents of your home
were laid out before you...
Oh!
This is unbelievable.
..so you could decide
what to keep...
A coffee machine?
Get rid of it.
I knew before you'd get rid of that.
..and what to lose.
Mummy, let's get rid of these.
No way!
No, I didn't think it would affect
me as much as it is,
kind of going through our stuff.
I know from experience the joy
that can come from sorting
your life out...
A place dedicated
to just all the nice snacks!
Are you ready?
..and I've assembled a dream team
to help me transform
Britain's most cluttered homes.
Iwan!
Why have I got the short straw?!
Let's go.
We'll clean...
Whoa.
..organise...
A lovely little pillow parcel.
..and upcycle what
the families already have.
Happy days. Money saved.
Good, innit?
Can we completely make over
their homes
without breaking the bank...
Whoa! To me, to you.
No, no, no.
Oop!
..all in just one week?
Look at it!
SHE GIGGLES
Wow!
Huh?!
Oh, my God.
Sort your life out in seven days.
Whose idea was that?!
SHE LAUGHS
Oh, my God.
Don't it look like my dad?
Did, didn't it?
This week, I'm
meeting the g*ng closer to home,
so I'm getting a lift with
Joe and my little boy Leighton.
Where have you been so far?
You've been up in Cornwall.
LEIGHTON WHISPERS INAUDIBLY
How far was that?
It was about three hours.
Not too bad.
It wasn't as bumpy as this...drive.
Oh, my God.
You want to moan about it any more?
I'm here to help a family of four
sort out their chaotic home.
That is not Rob's van, is it?
What?!
First.
What time do you call this, guys?
Cannot believe it.
Something's not right.
Up bright and early.
HORN TOOTS
THEY EXCLAIM
Woohoo!
Mwah!
Here they are!
You seen the size of
this place? We need you.
I've, I've got the kids tonight!
Awww! Oh, I like that.
Yay! We're in Essex!
We're in Essex! Whoo!
Well, Kent. Same thing, innit?!
THEY LAUGH
This house belongs
to Kelly and Dan.
Kelly runs two
businesses from home.
Dan works for the police.
They've got two young children
and they've also just moved in
the grandparents,
because grandma is not very well.
So they've had to convert the garage
into an annexe,
and now they need
help inside the house.
Shall we see what we're dealing
with, before we run away
and say, "Let's not help"?!
The family are out for the day so
that we can have a snoop around
and find out what's in store.
It is so big!
That grandma and grandad's house,
I think. Amazing.
Oh, my goodness! Oh!
In this home,
there are four bedrooms,
an office,
kitchen and family room
and with the former garage
being emptied into the house,
all rooms are now bursting
at the seams with stuff.
Is this the front room?
It's a mess, that's what it is.
When they've cleared the garage out
they've just shoved it all in here.
Oh, yeah. I think when you're
converting a space and turning it
into something else,
it's about being practical
and not just doing the easy thing
of let's just spread
it around the house,
find a place for it,
shove it away and that'll do
because what ends up happening is
it will bite
you in the bum later on in life.
There's toys in here, but there's
nowhere to play. But there is a TV.
But how are you going to see it
through all the prams? Yeah!
Maybe this is just the room
that gets everything dumped in
and everywhere else will be clear.
ROB GUFFAWS
Wishful thinking!
In just two days, we are going
to strip the entire house
and then display all the possessions
in a giant warehouse.
To the kitchen.
Oh, my goodness!
Can you even see a surface?
No, but they probably don't have any
systems in their cupboards.
Open a cupboard, Rob.
And yes, you're right. Oh, wow!
It's a lot of paperwork.
Oh, Iwan!
Ah, yay!
My first plait!
Oh, no!
Why are you all "oh, no"-ing?
This is adorable!
Oh, my goodness. It's such a special
time, the first haircut.
This kitchen is next-level
bad in drawers.
It is, but he's got loads
of police medals.
Oh, wow. This should be pride
of place somewhere.
What is that?!
That is not a chihuahua.
No, that belongs to
a rather big animal.
What's he drinking out of that?
He's eating up there, as well!
If that's the size of its food,
I dread to have a look
in the garden!
THEY LAUGH
And so this must be
the master bedroom.
Upstairs, Dilly and I make a start
on mum and dad's bedroom.
This is a really big space. Wow.
I feel like they've not had the time
to finish anything
and to get anything the way
they really wanted it.
It's just such a shame.
Look how much stuff
they've got in here.
People think that big houses
mean less clutter,
but that is absolutely not the case.
There's no order.
When you've got more space, you buy
more stuff, collect more stuff
and hold on to more stuff.
So you end up in a worse position
than if you had minimal space
and you knew that you had to
cater to that space.
Look at all these odd socks!
I have a sock monster.
100% have a sock monster or gremlin
or something that lives
inside my machine,
robs a sock from each pair.
I'll tell you what's happened.
You've walked around your room.
You picked out the washing.
You just picked it up, with
the towel, chucked it in
the washing machine, you thought
you picked up two, you didn't.
I did. You didn't.
There's a sock monster.
What are we going to do
with these socks?
Wow.
There must be a pair among it.
There's a new outfit.
Just...just have a little relax.
I'll rub your tummy.
You just close your eyes. Mmm.
She's like, "Dilly,
sort the socks out."
No, she's like, "Dilly,
don't sort the socks out.
No, she's saying, sort the socks.
No, she's not.
"Put them... Put them in recycling?"
Oh, yes, I think so, too.
She did not say that! She did!
Very busy. Very cluttered.
Rob and Iwan check out eldest
daughter Harriet's bedroom.
I think she might be a gymnast?
All these lovely medals.
You ready?
All right, three, two, one...
BOTH: Aww!
Wow. There's literally hundreds of
them!
Looking at the walls, I think
we've got a bit of a slobbery dog.
Oh, no! It's even on the ceiling.
How's it got up there?
How big is this dog?!
Down the corridor, another room
drowning in possessions.
100% this is an office. There's
filing cabinets everywhere.
I know that Kelly runs
two businesses from home,
but I don't know how she gets
any work done in here.
It must be so stressful.
The paperwork...
It's everywhere, look!
Ohh!
This is the biggest
house we've ever dealt with,
but there is still one room
we haven't attacked yet.
The "spare" room.
Dilly, there's a whole cupboard.
Whoa! Wow!
There's a whole cupboard of books.
Why are they in the spare room?
What I always say about spare rooms
- I don't think there
should be such a thing.
No. It becomes this.
You've just got to give
it a purpose.
But also, these are baby toys
and the kids are six and 11.
There's no way... Yeah.
Why are we keeping these?
Home away from home?
Ah, that's the tidiest house
in here. Here goes.
My place? My place is tidy!
There are so many rooms to tackle.
You're talking about seven
different rooms
and every single one
of them is major.
This is going to be one
of those projects
that we might not actually...
SHE LAUGHS
Hello!
It's time to meet the family.
That's who the dog food bowl is for!
What's the dog's name? Parker.
Hello, Parker, you are so big!
Parker is like a horse!
So have you been in?
Yes.
We're doing that.
Don't look at me like that!
So I met Dan when I was 21
at a party.
I instantly fell in love. I knew
that she was the woman for me.
We just hit it off immediately.
And the rest is history, really.
Look at that slobber!
Ugh, that's disgusting.
SHE LAUGHS
Kelly and Dan both juggle
working full-time
while bringing up two girls.
We need to chuck those Coco Pops
away. We do.
The messiest in the house is,
I think it's me.
It's like a Barbie as*ault course.
I found one in the sink. The sink?
I have a lot of Barbies.
It's a very busy, messy,
chaotic household.
Phew!
It's always full of noise
and barking from the dog!
WOOF!
Take this in to your mum.
Two years ago, they turned the
triple garage into the annex
for the grandparents.
All right, Dad?
Because of the garage
being converted into an annexe,
all of a sudden we had
to bring it all back in.
We had nowhere to store it.
Most of it is all the old tat,
stuff they don't need anyway.
HE CHUCKLES
Oh, there's Daddy's glasses!
Oh, you found Daddy's glasses?
There's always chaos. There's
the kids running round...
GIRLS GIGGLE
It's just a nightmare.
Mummy's office -
oh, wow, it's messy!
I once got a job to tidy it up
and I just gave up because I
couldn't be bothered to do it.
Oh, where you been all day?
Missed you.
Nanny Linda suffers
from a respiratory illness.
Give us a hug, then.
Kelly, she wanted us to come
here because she wanted to keep
an eye on me because
I've not really been well
for the past couple
of years.
Which, I'm glad. I mean,
it's a lovely little annex.
Give us a kiss, then.
When I first met Linda,
she was an incredible
and very strong businesswoman.
And to look at her now,
she has massively changed,
is a lot more frail.
Kiss me!
To have them living with us means
that we can help look after Linda.
It's the most important thing now.
You've taken on so much,
and it's totally understandable
that it's got like this.
The dream is to give you
that dream space and the dream home
that you've always wanted.
It's for the girls, really.
I go to work, so I escape it.
So, you know, it's kind of...
Don't - you'll upset me!
Oh, no! So... It's... Yeah, if you
could make her a perfect home,
honestly, I'll be indebted forever.
You are such a lovely family,
and we can't wait to get in there
and get into the warehouse
and hopefully make this happen!
Thank you very much.
The team have just eight hours
to help the Wallers
pack up their entire house.
Goodness! As we're packing up
the office,
let's try and get electricals
into one box. OK.
Make sure all the DVDs
go in one box.
Got a lot of teddies! How many
do you think you've got?
Probably about 100.
Are you serious? Yeah.
Are these yours? Yeah, yeah.
You have not been collecting these!
Oh, I don't know why
I had a really sexist opinion
and I thought these were Kelly's!
No, no, I've got this massive fear
that when I find an odd sock,
if I don't...
If I throw it away,
you know what happens, don't you?
The other one appears, doesn't it?
Always. And this is all my fault.
There are probably four bags worth.
Oh, at least.
So you run two businesses
from this office?
I do, yes.
One's a gymnastics company.
The other is a children's
day nursery.
My friend who I run the business
with, she comes over
to work with me sometimes...
She works in here as well?
Yeah, I try and make a space there.
So, it's quite difficult.
And what does she think? She tries
to not come over, I think, so much!
Sometimes I come home,
I drop the girls off
and I don't want to walk through
the door.
I just want to go out again
cos I'm just like,
"I don't want to walk into that."
It is just depressing.
And, of course, you know, your mum
and dad live next door. Yeah.
So what happened to your mum?
She's got COPD... So that's
breathing issues? Breathing, yeah.
And I think just, from then,
she's deteriorated.
So you've got your parents
living with you next door,
two businesses to run,
two children to look after,
a huge dog to look after.
How are you coping?
Oh, I don't know, really.
She needs a cape.
What is this?
I don't know how to answer that.
The idea of this was,
it was going to be a snug.
It's just become a place we try
and hide things
when people coming round. It's a bit
of an embarrassment factor.
You shouldn't be embarrassed.
No, I know.
It's a lovely house, but not with
all this rubbish in here, it's not.
Dan, it's a lovely house and
you shouldn't be embarrassed at all.
Thank you.
The drawers are a little bit random,
aren't they? They are, they are...
They've emptied
their garage, basically,
into every single room of the house.
What is that? I have no idea.
The spare room is full to the brim.
The office is full to the brim.
I'm going to hide in here.
Call me when it's all done.
Even when you open every single
kitchen cupboard,
it's full to the brim.
So you're into gymnastics? Yeah.
So if you want to practise
your gymnastics at home,
where did you do it? I do it
downstairs on Parker's sofa.
Oh, really? Yeah.
Why do you do it there?
That's the only place
that I have room to actually do it.
So you're starting
secondary school soon? Yeah.
I see you've got a desk over here.
Yes. I never use it, though.
Why is that?
Cos there's just too much things
on there.
LAUGHS: There's a lot of stuff
on there, isn't there? Yes.
Do you think, if we could clear
that, you'd be able to use it? Yes.
What would be your favourite colours
in here?
Rainbows. Rainbows?
So, like, all the colours
of the rainbow?
We've got to make a nice space
for your Barbies.
Have you got, like, accessories
where you brush their hair?
Yeah. That is so cool.
I'm very excited to go through
all the Barbies.
These are police medals
in this drawer?
Yes, well, Dan's actually
looking for those.
He wasn't that well, was he,
a while ago?
No, he had Covid over Christmas.
He was really poorly, and he's only
just sort of started to get...
He still can't take a deep breath
and stuff like that from it.
So, has he got Long Covid now?
I think so, yeah.
He's just sort of going through
the doctors and that,
just to see what's going on.
I started getting symptoms,
my breathing started to go.
A couple of times, I woke up
and I didn't honestly think
I'd be here.
Really? It was that bad? Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I've never...
I've never really appreciated
how difficult it must be for Linda
with breathing...
With COPD? Yeah, until you've been
there. I couldn't get my breath.
It was a really scary time
and I was getting up in the night,
just checking he was still breathing
cos he was... He was so bad.
He was really bad.
I just... I don't know
what I'd do without him.
I woke up crying, thinking I was
never going to see my girls again.
And I... Dan! No, I just...
I genuinely have fallen in love
with Kelly and Dan.
They're just such nice, genuine,
down-to-earth people.
You'll see them again soon.
I think they've bitten off way more
than they can chew,
but they're doing it.
They're so humble and genuinely
deserve to have a whole fresh start.
And I can't wait to get in
that warehouse
and help them achieve that.
Bye! Say, "Bye-bye!" Bye!
HE LAUGHS
Family kiss!
It's the big weekend ahead.
Every single one of
the family's possessions
has been removed from the house
and displayed in a 10,000
square foot warehouse.
We're nearly there, girls.
I'm excited to see
how much stuff there is.
I'm nervous and excited.
Now, they must decide what to keep
and what to let go,
so that we can begin to
reorganise their home.
Yay!
You two look so nervous!
Look at the size of it!
So are you ready to go in
and have a look? No. Yes.
THEY LAUGH
Dan, come on!
Right, let's do it!
Here we go.
Here it is.
GIRLS LAUGH
Welcome to your home!
Over 200 boxes have been unpacked
and laid out in sections,
so that the Waller family
can clearly see
how much of everything they have.
We counted 107 board games
and puzzles,
640 CDs and DVDs,
110 nail polishes,
and over 1,500 books.
Oh, my... Oh, my God!
That is absolutely amazing!
Oh, look, your nursery!
What? What are you thinking, Kelly?
No... I don't want to look at
that section. Oh, no! Why?
No, it's just emotional.
Aw! Are you OK?
Yeah, fine. Are you sure? Yeah.
All right.
Take a seat and we'll make a plan.
How are you all feeling?
I'm OK. Are you sure?
Cos I see you get really upset
as you walked in, Kelly.
Yes, I think it's just...
I always get emotional about
old photos anyway.
It sort of hit me.
There will definitely be
sections in here
that will be much more difficult
to tackle than others,
so what we'll try and do
is start with the easier ones.
Hopefully, we'll be going home with
50% or less...
Oh, that would be amazing!
..than what we started.
We definitely need to. You ready?
Yes. Woo!
Come on, team!
The family's possessions
have been divided into zones
so that they can see how many
repeat items they have,
making it easier to decide
what to keep
and what to donate, sell or recycle.
Look at all your toys! Oh, my gosh!
There's kitchen, electricals,
toys and books,
memories, toiletries and clothes.
We found three shopping bags
and an entire washing basket
full of odd socks.
I need to know if you can just
turn around now and say,
"If they're all odd, goodbye."
Are they all odd?
HE LAUGHS
Just get rid of them.
Otherwise, it's going to
cause me anguish.
I can see you're having a dilemma!
Are we ready to let go?
Yeah, yeah. Go on.
But now we can use this linen basket
for actual washing!
This is amazing, cos I actually
thought it was going to be
more of a challenge,
to be honest, Dan!
But if we can't let go off odd
socks, there isn't a hope in hell
for the pyjamas!
THEY LAUGH
It's raining odd socks!
Rob! How do you find anything
in this van?
I can tell you where everything is.
No, you can't.
Yes, I can. No, you can't.
Yes, I can.
Organisation is the key to success!
Back at the house, and the g*ng
have a blank canvas to work with.
I'm wiping slobber.
You get all the best stuff,
don't you? Yeah!
There's a lot of potential
in this room. A lot.
The one great thing about this room
is these traditional features,
the detailing on the ceiling
with all the bead,
and then you've got the coving.
My idea is to bring this look
down here,
panelling and beading to match
the decor in the room.
Panelling is expensive, though,
isn't it?
Er... No, we can make the walls look
like they've been all panelled up.
OK. There's a way around things. OK.
Cos, remember,
we're on a budget, Rob!
And Iwan is getting to grips
with the dog hair.
There's quite a lot of dog fur
and all sorts of things on these.
And I like using a squeegee because
it saves you lugging
a heavy vacuum cleaner
up and down the stairs.
Looks like we've got a small dog
there. Lovely stuff.
HE LAUGHS
LAUGHS: Stacey Solomon
in a Santa costume!
I can't tell you how happy
my kids would be
if I came home looking like this.
It is 1pm,
and the piles of possessions
to donate, sell and recycle
are mounting very slowly.
Do you want every single Barbie?
Yeah. 100%?
What about this guy?
Oh, yeah, that's not
a great look, is it?
This one's missing a limb.
This one's got no arm.
That one looks creepy! Aw!
Now, the family is starting
to tackle their extensive
book collection.
I think altogether,
there's over 1,500 books.
Unless you're living in
the Beauty and the Beast castle,
I don't think anyone can store
this many books. No.
Kelly, if you and Dan do
the adult section and just blast it,
I'll try and blast it with the kids.
Good luck. OK, let's do this.
SIGHS: Where do we start?
Holly Willoughby?
No, I don't want to read...
Don't fancy it?
The girls made a pile really quickly
of the books
that they wanted to keep.
Baby's Big Box of Books. No.
See, I look at these books,
I want to keep them.
Kelly and Dan both really struggled.
Did you pick the ones you want to
keep? Yeah, but I'd keep them all!
There's a real attachment
to this family and books.
Keep that. Keep that.
So is that your keep pile? Yeah.
20 down, 567,000 to go!
We've got so much left to tackle.
Getting nowhere with the books,
we decide to move on to soft toys.
Right. Do you reckon that
we need 150 teddies?
No.
Is there any in here that you can,
like, straight away say to me,
"I don't love these ones"?
Yes. OK.
Pick them out and bring it to me.
All these four. All of these four?
Amazing! He can go.
Am I staying or am I going?
He looks like Joe, doesn't he?
THEY LAUGH
That's a Christmas one, that.
Yeah.
I saw that, Dan! Are you sneaking
teddies out...?
Just the odd one here and there.
Dan!
No, this was...
This was Neve's from a baby.
This was always above her head,
always at the top of her cot.
Do you know what we do, though, as
parents? Cos it has a memory for us,
we end up thinking that they want
to keep it,
but, actually, they're over it.
What do you want to do, Harriet?
I think we should chuck them
cos we've got them there.
Cos you've got the other
Winnie the Poohs up there?
See, I think it's the other way
around. Yeah. Cos... Why?
Because... Those ones you've had,
since you were a baby...
They were the first things
that were in your room
when we first decorated your nursery
before you were born.
But then which ones...do you love
the most?
Yeah. I'd put the Winnie the Poohs
and the...
Yeah, the Winnie the Pooh
and two Eeyores.
Yeah. We'll keep these ones.
All right, darling.
It took us a while to get pregnant,
and then we had Harriet in 2009.
As soon as I found out, that was it.
I mean, it was...
I was elated, absolutely elated,
that we were going to have a child.
Five, six years later,
Neve came along.
Again, it took us a while
to get pregnant, but...
And that's why I think children
means so much to me.
They're like... They're amazing
things, and I just think...
Yeah, there's a little soft spot
in there for them.
You all right?
I'm all right, yeah.
But it's probably easier
if I don't watch.
The children have brought out
a different side of me.
I've become a lot more emotional.
I kind of cry at the sad Disney
films and all that kind of thing.
It holds a lot of memories of
Harriet's nursery
when she was first born that we
decorated in Winnie the Pooh.
To me, that holds a lot of memories.
But I'd keep loads of them. I...
Aw, Dan!
When you've got an emotional
attachment to a toy and a memory
and your children are ready to
grow out of it and let it go,
it's almost like a grief
because you know that period of time
with your child is gone.
And I can totally relate to that.
There's so many times
I've held on to things,
and then I've kind of got them
out of the memory box and said,
"Oh, here is that stone
that you picked up five years ago!
"Do you remember?"
And they're like, "Oh!"
OK, which room? Neve's room. Neve's!
Oh, back. There are too many rooms!
No, that's the office. That way.
Back at the house, Rob and Dilly
discuss the office layout...
This is very, very important to me,
this room.
I want to change this to
a really functional office.
Over that side is where we'll have
all of our storage
and use the desk to split the room.
So, it's in the shape of a T.
So they can sit on each side?
Exactly. Love it.
..and Iwan gets up close
and personal with a toilet bowl.
Limescale is all built up in here.
You can see a really thick
brown rim.
What I'm going to do is try to
remove as much water as I can.
And look at this!
HE GROANS
So I'm going to use some white
vinegar, and then we're going to
leave it for at least three hours
to work its magic.
It's quite good, cos it can
actually blast it a little bit. Oh!
GROANS: I smell like
a chip shop now!
Here, I have the beading
I intend on using.
Once I've done all of it in here,
we're going to put in
our floating shelves
in our triangular-shaped alcove.
Yeah, fun stuff. They always give me
the easy stuff to do.
No, they don't.
That's coming off lovely now.
You can actually use some sandpaper.
Go for a medium grit.
Right, let's give you
a little flush.
TOILET FLUSHES
That is looking so much better!
I'm getting bored in here!
I just want to go home
and play with some of my toys.
He was my first teddy bear
for my parents. Aw!
And he used to grow. Grr!
But he doesn't do that any more.
THEY LAUGH
Sure it was a growl?
After a slow first morning
at the warehouse,
Dan is starting to sift through
more sentimental items.
Are these all your medals?
Yeah. So there's a couple of Olympic
coins for policing the Olympics.
Good conduct, long service.
Aw! That's so amazing. Yeah.
Do you ever have them out or do you
just sort of, like, hide them away?
No, they're just in my drawer.
I'd love to hang them out,
but it's just...
We've never put things on a wall
because we kind of...
We've never been at that point
where... The walls are clear?
Yeah. It's such a shame, cos you've
got so many incredible achievements.
And your kids must just be like,
"Wow, my dad is so cool!"
Yeah. You need them to see
all this stuff.
I love my daddy a lot.
He teaches me.
He helps me with my 11+.
Wee!
He's funny, although he tells you
terrible dad jokes.
Like, really bad.
Worse than Grandad's.
This is your baby section...
I don't like it in here! Why?!
It's just emotional stuff.
There was so much baby stuff
in that spare room. Why...?
Why do you think that you just
couldn't part
and can't part with that?
I think with everything going on,
with my mum being in and out of
hospital, it's just been piled on,
and we've never had a chance
to sort of go through it and think,
"Right, are we going to
need that all?"
Or even to decide what we would keep
if we did have another baby.
It's just all been packed away,
hasn't it? Yeah.
I'd love to have more children.
It's always been a thing for us,
we've never said that we're not
having any more,
so I think that it's been quite hard
to get rid of stuff because of that.
We've still got all the baby toys,
all the baby clothes,
baby grows, bibs and the cot.
So, we've got the whole lot.
It's such a big decision to decide,
"I'm never going to need
these baby things again."
Yeah. So...I don't want you to leave
here and feel like you've let go
of a potential dream
to have more children. Yeah.
I think that's part of this process,
is that, you know,
we don't need those things.
If we did have another baby at some
point, it's not going to matter
if we haven't got a whole wardrobe
for them.
It's not worth holding on to it,
just in case.
You know, if it does happen,
then we'll deal with it.
And I think that's what we've got to
get our heads around, isn't it?
Yeah. So do you think the way
that the house has got
actually encroaches on
life decisions like that?
Yeah, definitely. Definitely.
Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
That is just a massive revelation -
because if the way their house is
is having an impact
on their big life decisions,
then this couldn't be
more imperative to this family.
So I'm expecting, then, for us
to sort your life out
and then you to ring me and say,
"We're having a baby!"
And then I get to be the auntie!
This is a bit like therapy!
It's just, like,
unravelling everything.
INDISTINCT DIALOGUE
We can get rid of that stuff.
That's fine.
It's like the fog's lifting a bit
and then you can start to see,
actually, you don't need
all this stuff.
It's just kind of dispersing.
Yeah, we're done here.
It has been an emotional first day
in the warehouse,
but we've not even scratched
the surface.
LAUGHS: Try not to look this way
too much.
And focus on what you have
achieved... Yeah. ..in some sections
that were actually quite difficult.
Tomorrow's a new day.
Dilly's going to k*ll me.
THEY LAUGH
Tell her, send her my apologies!
I'll be honest, this is probably
the worst first day in the warehouse
that we've had. There's piles
with nothing in.
That has never happened!
Tomorrow is Dilly's day.
It might actually turn out OK,
but other than that, I'm just
going to leave it as it is.
There's nothing I can do now.
And I'm turning my phone off.
SHE LAUGHS
I thought there was going to be
a lot more gone than there is,
and it's just so full.
It's almost like nothing's happened.
And I can see... Look at the piles!
It's the beginning of Day 2,
and Sergeant Dilly is not happy.
I mean, was she even here yesterday?
I know she's pregnant, and
she's feeling soft, but come on!
I've got to be tough today.
Good morning!
How are you? I'm very well.
How are you? Good.
I'm going to be really honest
with you.
This is probably the worst
position we've ever been in.
Excellent. Thank you.
All of this stuff, if you equate
this to a room, is not going to fit
back in your house. No.
There's no way it will. Yeah.
We have to come in today
like this is our first day.
Right, OK. We're not missing
the areas that you went
through with Stacey yesterday. We're
going back through those areas.
Right, OK. So we're going to have
some fun with it.
OK! Yeah? I wondered when the smile
was going to reappear!
I was starting to worry a bit.
It's not being at work!
Yeah, good! D'you think I'd make
a good police officer?
Right! Ready? We are. Yes,
yeah. Let's do this.
Shall we go to the kitchen first?
How many mugs do we really need?
I mean, how many have we got?
One, two, three, four, five,
six, seven, eight, nine...
There's about six here. ..26, 28,
20... I mean, I'm losing count.
Go through them, minimise them
because they are not all staying.
A kitchen needs to make sense.
Think of it logically.
We don't need much.
You know, we need just the minimal
amounts of things to get by there.
Donate these. Do I love it? Do I
need it? Do I use it?
Does it bring me joy?
Do you not want it? Right,
onto the next section.
The Wallers own 107 board games
and puzzles.
Six different types of Monopoly.
So do we need ALL the variations
of Monopoly?
No.
Let's go to toiletries next.
We counted 30 razors,
59 perfume bottles and 17
open toothpastes.
Now we all have children that are
poorly, obviously, all the time.
But do we always need one, two,
three, four, five, six, seven,
eight, nine, ten, 11 Calpols and
Nurofens?
No. What we're doing is we're
over-buying
things because we can't see what
we've got. Yes.
They're all in different cupboards.
Yeah. Yes. So what we need to do is
create a section that's just
medicals.
42 syringes! Never have enough
syringes.
You can never have enough syringes!
With both of your children,
it's not quite just a cough
and cold situation, is it?
No. No. Neve was born and at four
months old, she had pneumonia.
Harriet got diagnosed with epilepsy
just before lockdown. Mm.
We've just got hospital appointments
all over the place, haven't we?
Yeah. So how are you managing that?
Um...
SHE CHUCKLES
I don't... It's just part of our
life and there's nothing you can do
about it. Yeah. We do worry
constantly. Yeah.
But it's... You put it to the back
and then you just sort of carry on,
really.
And with Neve so poorly, I thought
we were going to lose her
at one point, she was hooked
up to tubes and she got to the point
where she was too weak to...to drink
milk and stuff,
so she had to be fed through
the stomach.
Push me really hard.
Before I go to bed every night, I
still check that they're breathing
and silly things like that because
it hits home how fragile life is.
Here we are, girls.
For after dinner.
Since my mum's been really poorly,
it's just an added stress
with everything else.
If people hear me talking,
they'll sort of underestimate
how bad things have been.
I'm going to get upset now,
but, um, I try and see
the positive in everything.
Um...sorry.
I said I wasn't going to cry!
Um, but it's been quite hard,
the last few years.
Kelly, as a wife, she's strong,
she's independent
and she's an incredible mother.
And for her, she's all about them.
That's what she's about.
She-she's very nurturing.
She's, um...
I think as a child, I don't think
you could ever want a better mother.
The girls are quite strong
in their character as well.
I mean, especially Harriet, she's...
Yeah, she's doesn't let it get...
She doesn't let it affect,
bother her.
But they've obviously got that,
that toughness from you in that,
you know... Oh, probably from their
mum, I think, yeah, more than...
I'm a... Oh, I don't know about
that.
Kelly, you are a lot tougher than
you think you are. Yeah, no,
absolutely.
The slobber is getting to all
heights!
Back at the house,
Rob is about to fit the floating
shelves for the snug.
This is the first out of eight.
As great as it's going to look,
oh, it's a pain to build,
I'm not going to lie!
We've got a few cobwebs in here,
so I'm attaching this long cardboard
tube, so that I can get them
within easy reach.
VACUUM WHIRS
The moment of truth. Now, let's see
if this fits.
Oh-h*-h*! Like a glove!
Because it's cardboard,
it's not going to be scraping
and scratching any of the paintwork.
Kelly's new office storage
is also taking shape.
When building your units,
I'd advise using kitchen legs.
Reason being, they're adjustable.
So no matter how unlevel your floor
is,
your units will always be spot on.
Now Rob can move on to Kelly's
T-shaped desk.
These are reclaimed floorboards.
Yes, they look a bit tattered with a
few scratches and some nail holes.
But that is what's going
to make this so unique.
Neve, Neve, calm, calm, please!
Paperwork was just insane.
Try and create some type
of grid system.
You've got a pile for whoever's
medical it is.
DVLA. Paperwork is always
such a negative thing.
It's something that no-one really
enjoys doing, unless you're me.
With only three hours to go,
the piles are finally stacking up.
But there is one major section
still to be tackled.
Right, clothes. We want to try
and build a capsule wardrobe.
Just choose your favourite thing.
OK. If we don't love it,
it doesn't stay.
Half an hour. Let's blitz
this section. OK. Yeah?
OK. Yeah. And we're off.
That dress? Yes. Yes.
No.
It's... That can't be mine. Is that
yours?
That's Harriet's.
Dan, are you being ruthless?
Yeah.
11, 12, 13 casual T-shirts.
We're happy with that? Well, I am,
but you're obviously not!
When did you last wear this
T-shirt? Er, Father's Day.
That's my Father's Day one.
Oh, it's your Father's Day T-shirt.
OK, so that gets worn
once a year.
This morning, I was worried.
I was panicky.
I was thinking, "We are never
going to get through this."
Come this afternoon, although
there's still a lot,
they're doing better than I thought.
Well done, g*ng, look. This will
work. Yeah.
It's 100 times better. Yes.
So well done.
So the bad news is, we've only
got 40 minutes left
in this warehouse. Right.
We have to go around every
section and just blitz it.
And then when you walk out
those back doors, that's it.
It's the final push for the family
to get rid of as much clutter
as they can.
We have over 500 CDs and 200 DVDs.
I'm a massive George Michael fan.
Don't mess with his George Michael
CDs.
Right, George Michael, George
Michael.
What box sets do you want to keep?
The Only Way Is Essex?
15 minutes, guys!
You don't want to have things
come back to your house
that you don't want. No.
No, absolutely.
Can we lose this broken basket?
Yeah. Yes.
Ten minutes left.
Truncheon?
OK, a few more minutes.
"To Mummy, I love you because you
have lovely hair."
Right. That's it.
Well done.
A week ago, the family were drowning
in clutter.
But after two cathartic days
in the warehouse, they have let go
of more than half
of their possessions.
That's it. Well done. Huh! Yeah...
This is the end.
Oh, my God. How do you feel?
Excited. Excited. Yeah. Just hoping
that we've done enough.
We've done enough, yeah. It's great.
You've done an amazing job.
You should be really proud of
yourselves. Thank you. Thank you.
Let's say goodbye. Bye! Bye!
Bye to everything!
Good riddance!
It's 8am and all of the family's
kept possessions are back
from the warehouse and we have got
just one day
before the Waller family come back
and see what we've done.
Hey! Oh, hi! Good to see you.
Dils, how's was warehouse, day two?
It was hard. Really hard.
I'm sorry. I do apologise.
I'll take some responsibility.
Good.
Right, let's get on with it.
We've got loads to do,
and I've actually got something
that I really need you to do, Rob.
I'm still trying to build
an office desk!
Just a tiny little project
I want you to have a look at.
It's this big.
I found some leftover wood
at the back of the garden
that might come in handy.
Help me cut a chunk out of
like the best bit of wood.
Yeah. And then I wondered if we
could use our saws
to make a couple of slots in it.
ROB LAUGHS
So like one to hold a phone,
to hold the pens and pencils
and have like a little stationery
slash essentials block.
I do like that idea.
I love you.
Oh, no, I lost nail!
It's going to be in here somewhere.
Oh, my God, you absolute
beautiful man! There we go.
Got any Gorilla Glue?
I have got something very exciting
to show you.
How to make your cereal boxes look
neater, but also to save space.
We're going to fold the back
flaps and the side in,
and then we're going to use this
flap here to tuck it in to itself.
And then we're just going to fold
it like that.
And then you've got this beautiful,
neat, gorgeous cereal box.
I mean, how amazing is that?
And the best thing about it is,
look, if you've got a row of boxes,
suddenly they look very chic
in your cupboards.
All of these toys are looking
a little bit dusty.
So what I like to do with cuddly
toys is throw them into a bin bag
and then sprinkle in some
bicarbonate of soda.
And then you give it a good shake.
They're living their best life
in here, having a little party!
And that will help them
be nice and dust-free.
I'd like to welcome you
to Rob's Nail Salon.
Firstly, what not to do at home
is go out in the garden
with your pretty nails and rummage
through bits of timber.
I strongly advise against super
glue, but desperate times call
for desperate measures.
Put a little bit on here.
Um, you might need a bit down the
bottom.
There we go. That's it.
Oh, my God! Laura, my nail lady,
better watch out.
Listen, they're rough hands,
but they can do delicate work.
I've never had a better mani, Rob.
I'm actually going to do
a little freezer inventory.
Most freezer food actually only
lasts 12 months,
you know, some three months,
some six months.
So it's important that you check
the date when you freeze it.
Chicken curry in freezer, Monday
31st...
So then, you know, six months
later,
Oh, God, that was only
meant to be in there three months.
Keeping an inventory of your
freezer, it just means
it's going to save you time
in the long run.
It means that you can prepare
the meals knowing what you've got
in your freezer and it means you're
not going to overbuy.
Rob's working on my stationery
holder I made from reclaimed wood.
Its aged look will go perfectly
with my desk.
This is where you need your chisels.
Going to make them some nice
home-made air freshener.
I've got some water.
I'm just adding a few drops
of essential oil.
Get a bit of lavender involved.
To help that combine,
what I'm going to do is add
a little drop of vodka,
so I borrowed Dilly's!
It's making me very relaxed,
actually.
It is already 1pm...
Who's labelled the box wrong?
Oh, my goodness. Who was the last
person in the warehouse?
..but I haven't even started
on my idea for a painted headboard.
I've tied some string to a pencil,
and I'm going to measure
between these two plug sockets,
nail this piece of string right
into the wall, so then I can stretch
it out and draw the perfect
semicircle.
Would that be tall enough,
do you reckon?
High, high enough?
If I can touch each plug socket,
then the rough middle is my nose.
The space between the two
plug sockets is...
You're not going to believe it.
It couldn't be any more centre,
could it?
It couldn't!
The perks of being Jewish.
SHE CHUCKLES
This is going to be the dream
office,
everything beautifully organised.
I've given everyone
in the family their own file.
This is going to make Kelly's life a
dream. Especially when you're
running your own business, now she's
going to be able to find everything
that she needs. I've labelled
everything in alphabetical order.
So when you're looking,
council tax, DVLA...
The great thing about these files is
they're super cheap.
Anyone can grab them.
You know, this is going to be
a game changer for Kelly.
Hello! Do you mind if I open this?
I just wanted to apologise
for all the noise.
So sorry if we've been really loud.
No, it's been interesting, hasn't
it?
We're going to miss you when you're
gone! Oh!
Come back for a cup of tea. Oh, my
God, I would love that, Linda.
Nice to meet you, darling.
God bless.
See you soon. Bye. See you soon.
But I mean it, Linda. I'll have that
cuppa. Yeah.
That'd be lovely. Brilliant.
This is art.
I'm like Picasso, but with two ears.
Oh, that was Van Gogh, weren't it?
SHE GIGGLES
The piles of items
at the warehouse that the Waller
family decided to let go of are
taken to be sold and donated...
Got some board games in here.
Excellent. Thank you very much.
..and recycled.
Yay! Oh, good shot!
ROB: Not enough hours in the day!
Back in the house, we only
have five hours left.
This is our coffee table that's
going to be going inside our snug.
Still a bit too modern.
So the furniture needs to catch
up to that.
By adding our beading, completely
changes the feeling of furniture.
Wall panelling is really expensive.
If you ever wanted to try
it yourself at home,
it's not as difficult as it looks.
You can go to your local wood shop
or wood merchants and just ask them
to cut the angles for you.
A bit of wood glue on the back.
And then, because you've had it all
cut, it should line up.
This was the bookcase in the snug.
It's been painted, beaded up.
By the time this is finished, it's
going to look like it cost
three times as much.
This is cleaning putty that I found
on the internet, and I'm going
to use this to have a go at cleaning
this dirty old keyboard.
Go on, I want to see this.
Ah! Yeah, and it's all sticking.
When you've finished with that,
I'll take it home for the boy.
All right!
How about that?
I'm just organising the family's
medicine.
Especially with children
with medical conditions,
like Dan and Kelly have,
it's really important that they can
grab their medicine really easily.
So I'm making sure that everyone has
their own tub and that everything
is really easy to access.
Oh, there we go.
These two teddies make
Harriet, Kelly, Dan so happy.
I think they look quite
sweet sitting there.
I can use these bars.
I could even just sticky-strip 'em.
Sorry, Pooh!
SHE GIGGLES
It's all for your own good.
I really feel like I'm manhandling
you, Pooh, but...
..it's only because I
want what's best for you.
They've got this beautiful
leather sofa.
So you can use some clear shoe
polish.
We've only got one hour to go.
That has come up so nicely. How
about that?
Dils? Iwan? Yeah! Coming!
The snug is not done. Oh!
With you in two minutes, then,
my darling.
Where is it? We're just so behind.
..at all. Where's Rob?
He's supposed to be bringing in
that furniture.
Big push. Big push. Fast.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Wowzers.
Shall we just...? All right, hold
on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on.
Oh, come on, you lot.
It's not that hard!
Pivot.
Someone's getting a little bit
stressed.
They call it a throw, but
it's just not that easy, is it?
Kelly and Dan are such nice people
and they work extremely hard,
and I just want by the end
of this process to have taken a lot
of stuff off their plate.
Hey!
THEY CHEER
And there was light! Well done,
g*ng!
How cosy is it in here?
ROB SIGHS DEEPLY
Well done, team. Well done.
You've all worked so hard today.
We've achieved so much, really,
when you think about the size of the
house.
Come on. Let's bring it in.
Come on. Hold on. This is it! Yes.
The hug, the hug bugs!
Well done, family. Well done,
family. Well done.
And the new little one
coming along.
I hope you're proud
of what we've done.
I'm nervous for tomorrow.
I get the best feeling out of
it when people are happy,
but it's actually the most
scary day.
So I'm just going to go to bed,
sleep it off,
get the morning out of the way
and then I can't wait.
I really just hope they love it.
Oh, I really hope they love it!
A week ago, the Waller family home
was in complete chaos.
Ram-packed with clutter, it left
them feeling disorganised, anxious
and out of control.
Yay!
Now it's time for them to find out
if bringing us in to help
was worth it.
Oh, my God, I'm so excited
to see you.
Oh, hello. Hello! How are you
feeling?
Very nervous.
Weird, a mixture of emotions.
Shall we get inside and have a look?
Yes.
Come on, then. Come on, then!
I'm actually scared. I'm scared,
too.
Are you?
Welcome to your new snug.
Wow. Oh, my God!
Oh, wow! Oh, my gosh!
That's amazing.
No, I'm going to...
HE SNIFFS
Get in here, Dan!
My God. Thank you.
Oh, don't thank me!
It was to start with like a garage
overflow room, wasn't it?
This is amazing.
We cleaned their old leather sofa,
painted the wall panelling made
from low-cost beading in dark blue,
upcycled their existing book
shelves
and created floating shelves
for their book collection.
Love panelling, I just love it.
I did that! Did you? Yeah, it's a
bit of beading!
This is your bookcase.
Oh, is that...? No way, really?
This is yours.
And your coffee table, yeah.
Oh. So we just added some beading,
the same as we did the walls. Wow.
Painted it, new handles.
Thank you.
All your medals are out.
Dan's police awards and his
50-year-old teddy now
take pride of place. Things
that should be out
that shouldn't be shoved
in the knife and fork drawer.
And your teddy bear.
Thank you.
Could stand in here for the rest
of the day and not move.
Oh, but you can't!
We've got more to see!
I like Parker's bowl.
Come in to your clear kitchen. Oh,
wow. Oh, wow, look at that.
This is a kitchen! That's excellent.
Wow.
What do you think?
I'm just in shock!
Before, all surfaces and drawers
were bursting
with random possessions, but
not any more.
It's how it was supposed to be.
It was always so beautiful. Yeah.
But you just had so much
stuff in it!
Dilly's been hard at work,
reorganising and labelling
this once chaotic kitchen.
Everything is properly sorted.
Oh, my goodness! Yeah.
You're just not going to have
out-of-date stuff.
You're not going to not know
what you've got cos everything
has got a proper place,
there's systems.
This is my dream. It's...
It's our dream as
well, don't worry! Yeah.
All of your medicines are organised
now,
so everything that you need
is right up there.
Thank you. And now you won't be
searching high and low for it. Yes.
It's amazing. Now you've got a fully
functioning kitchen.
Come on, then, gorgeous.
Come in to your new bedroom.
What do you reckon?
Is it good? Yeah.
Yeah?
We turned an existing book shelf
into bespoke teddy bear storage.
And do you remember in the
warehouse... Yeah.
..we couldn't let go of Winnie and
Eeyore.
But they now take centre stage
on Harriet's bed frame.
And all of your other teddies
that you didn't want to let go
of are all organised now with all
your make-up, glasses, jewellery.
Can you see your desk over there?
Yeah.
We've also moved the bed
so Rob could fit a bigger desk.
We thought it was really important
to try and make you a desk area
cos you're starting secondary
school this year, aren't you?
So you're going to need
somewhere to do all your homework.
You'll be doing your GCSEs one day.
And then we put all your medals
up there so you can look at all
of your achievements
and be really proud of them.
Do you love it? Yes.
Yeah? Are you sure? Sure.
Are you ready?
Here it is!
Neve's bedroom is now the perfect
place to sleep
and play, right under a magical
rainbow.
Do you like your rainbows
and your rainbow pillow?
Are you OK?
Once full to the brim
with toys and clothes...
..the room is now fit for a
six-year-old,
and even Harriet's old
desk found a new home.
Now you can do all your drawing
and your arts and crafts
and everything in your room
and on your desk.
This is all yours. And we've put
some of your favourite Barbies
on the side.
So you can just pull them
down and play with them
whenever you want and then hang them
back up again and then they don't
end up on the floor.
Dilly organised and labelled
the entire wardrobe.
Knickies, PJs, vests, swimwear,
school socks.
An upcycled wardrobe, now covered in
Dalmatian spots,
houses Neve's toy collection.
In this wardrove, we've got
all your favourite teddies,
so now they're not all over the
floor taking up loads of space.
Thank you. You're welcome!
Oh, wow. Come into your bedroom.
KELLY LAUGHS
Oh, wow.
Oh, that's so much better.
This isn't our room, is it?
A week ago, Kelly and Dan's bedroom
was suffocating in odd socks
and random stuff.
Now the painted headboard finishes
off the decluttered room.
You both work so hard and deserve
to come home
to a sanctuary to relax in.
I've got to show you some of the
best organisation
I have ever seen Dilly do.
Ta-da! Oh, wow.
Once overflowing with clothes,
it now houses two capsule wardrobes
and a dedicated toiletries section.
I'm speechless. Yeah, yeah.
THEY LAUGH
Yay!
It's just, like, wardrobe goals.
It is wardrobe goals!
Dilly is just an angel. It's the
dream.
We've got a spare room.
Talking of spare rooms, shall we?
Oh, yeah, let's.
Welcome to what was the spare room.
And now is a multi-functional room.
Oh!
Once ram-packed with so-called
toot from the garage,
it is now the perfect space for
gymnastics.
We've decided to put all
of the gymnastic stuff in here.
Now the girls can do their
gymnastics in here. That's amazing.
And also, this built-in storage
is not just built-in storage.
So....
..basically... No way!
..if you're ever having somebody
stay... Gosh.
No w... Oh, my goodness!
..it's a spare room, innit?
Oh, that's...
Incredible.
This is where I'm staying.
Yeah! You're always welcome.
there's only one room
left to have a look at.
Come in to your new office.
SHE GASPS
Oh, my God. Oh, wow.
Oh, my... It's like we're
in a magazine!
Kelly has finally got the home
office she has always dreamed of.
SHE SNIFFS
How much easier is that going to
make it?
SHE SOBS
Thank you.
You are so welcome.
Rob created not only built-in
storage throughout...
Oh, I've always wanted something
like this.
..but also a bespoke desk
made from recycled oak.
The desk was shoved up against
the wall. Yeah. Yeah.
But this is the genius that is Rob.
He's incredible.
I would never have thought to put
that there, would you?
I just... No. He made it like this
so you can work together
if you want to. Yeah. So talented.
I could sleep here!
DAN LAUGHS
That's just from the bottom
of your garden.
Your phone goes in there and all
your stationery goes in there.
Genius, honestly. You were saying
that you'd get up
and you just didn't even want
to come in here to work. Mm.
We wanted it to feel like a home
as well as an office.
You and your team are amazing.
Absolutely amazing.
We are, we're very lucky.
Well, we love you, and we think
to be able to do
this has been an absolute pleasure,
so... Thank you.
I can't wait to see how
this improves their life.
To be able to see them in a home
that they truly deserve, one that's
going to work for them, one that's
going to give them some time back
that they need is...
Oh, honestly, it's the most
heart-warming feeling ever.
Are they in here? Hey!
How you doing, mate? No way!
Hello, hello!
DILLY: You happy? How are you, guys?
Oh, thank you so much.
Mate, oh, man...
Seriously, you don't know what
you've done for me.
ROB: Seriously, you're a
legend.
Kelly, shall we see if Mum and Dad
want to come and have a little look?
Yes, that's a good idea.
Stand there.
I genuinely love being with these
people who get a real sense of pride
and happiness from what they do.
And yeah, I've just loved every
second of it and I'm so lucky
to have such a good team.
It's incredible. Absolutely amazing.
I'm so pleased for you! I know.
So, yeah, we're lucky, aren't we?
Lovely! You've done a wonderful job.
That's the seal of approval, that
is! Right?
Job done. Come on.
Life has changed a lot, hasn't it?
Yes. It's really easy to keep
organised.
Clothes can actually fit in drawers,
and I've got the fine art
of folding now.
You're Chief Folder.
My office is a dream.
My business partner has been here
probably more in the last few weeks
than she has in the last year.
It makes me more productive as well,
because I like actually
going to work now. Yeah!
Harriet loves her room.
If she had tried to go to secondary
school with the house how it was,
I think she wouldn't have settled
in as well as she has done.
Knock-knock! Who's there?
Chicken. Chicken who?
He never crossed the road.
THEY LAUGH
The snug is actually now a snug.
Mum loves it.
They've actually been in for dinner
as well, which was lovely.
Yes. It's brought us closer
together as a family, all this.
Such a beautiful house now, it
is actually our home.
