02x01 - Episode 1

Post by bunniefuu »

VO: From all corners
of the country...

I collected 18
well-known Dutch people,

for another chilling adventure
from 'The Traitors'.

Faithful or Traitors.

They all compete for that main
prize of 40 kilos of silver.

STEFANO: Impressive.

VO: This blood-curdling game
demands the utmost from the players.

In this game you can't
show your true face too much.

VO: List.
- I'm razor sharp.

Yes, Traitor.
- I?

VO: Manipulation.
- Don't be fooled.

I'm starting to believe it.

VO: Cheating.
- A Traitor has to come out, Stefano,

and you want that too.
VO: Nothing is shunned,

and that causes emotions to run high.
- Don't let it happen again.

"f*ck you." No, seriously.
FRANK L.: Buoys. Well done.

We have silver.

VO: But this morning... This
morning none of them knew

who would be the other pawns in
this chess game of betrayal,

and still nothing happened.

Although...

...subtitle: Red Bee Media

VO: A steam train races
through the hills of Limburg.

On board,
18 well-known Dutch people.

I was happy that I immediately saw a
number of acquaintances in the coupe.

It's reassuring that you
might have some allies.

Hee.

TOINE: Hi.Toine.Good to see you.
- Nice.Hi.Ortal.

VO: The brand new players are divided
into three compartments by sixes.

STELLA: Yeah, there you are.
- I think this is quite fun.

Yes.
- Is everyone okay?

Excellent.
JOEP: Now it's still fun.

Yes, it's still fun.
- Now it's still fun, yes.

STEVEN: It's all well and good, but at
some point it's going to turn around.

'It's a part of the game.'

JOEP: Oh, those pictures.
Those pictures.

Look, we have more pictures.

GIEL: I immediately see six pictures
hanging in that compartment,

and before I can tell
who they are...

Carolina. That's a friend of mine.
- Not at all.

ESMEE: Jamie is
my best friend's ex.

Who is this? I walk behind.
- Sylvia Gersen.

IRENE: Oh, sorry.
ESMEE: Steven Brunswijk.

Yes, Esmee. "Take the lead."

Guys, Stefano is real...
We have to watch out for that

because it can take all kinds
of forms... GIEL: Already?

ESMEE: Yes, I swear to you.
GIEL: Do you know him too?

I don't know if he can lie well.

FRANK L.: Stella Bergsma.

Irene Moors, Joep Sertons.

BABETTE: Esmee is an actress.
- Yes.

Stella.
FRANK E.: This tells me...

I don't know this either.
CAROLINA: We don't know either.

We recognize five of the six.

We are looking for connections
between people

hanging on the window
and who we are.

Jill I see.
GIEL: Frank van der Lende.

Oh Babette.Nice.
STEVEN: Giel, Piece TV.

Dionne. STELLA: Who, what, how?

Giel from StukTV. STELLA:
All those headlines I thought:

You look familiar, you look
familiar, but who are you?

I was already afraid that I
wouldn't recognize anyone.

VO: Final destination of the train
is Castle Erenstein in Kerkrade.

But it's certainly
not a fun candy trip.

Along the way, six kilos of silver
can already be played together.

FRANK L.: Shall I...
- Yes, do that.

DIONNE: What's all this?
- Shall we read it together, Joe?

I'm going to see if you're reading correctly.
- The first mission.

When this train arrives
at the terminus

all the people in these
photos must be in this car.

On the way to that terminus
, the train stops twice.

The first stop takes ONE minute.
ONE of you gets off the train,

and consults with people on the platform
about who should sit in which car.

The second stop takes two minutes.
- Get off the train with your luggage,

and sit in the carriage
where your picture hangs.

This is then…
ESMEE: At the terminus.

Each wagon in which the right people are
sitting yields two kilograms of silver.

We have started.
STEVEN: I don't get it anymore.

Me neither.
IRENE: Someone is going out.

There's someone outside.
DIONNE: Someone else.

He has to talk about other
wagons. Who are there?

Who do we need? That
should be done in ONE minute.

So one of us has ONE minute
to chat on the platform.

TOINE: Any advantage.
I have a feeling that I...

Apart from StukTV, I know them.
I know the other five.

ESMEE: You can go outside
for me then.

I think you can do that well

because you know all those names
well by now.

Yes. FRANK L.: Irene, Stella.

FRANK E.: Joep Sertons, Esmee
van Kampen and miss Unknown.

Yes. Miss Unknown.
- I don't think it's a nice introduction.

DIONNE: It's a matter
of remembering names

communicate to the rest,
come back.

Then we know where to sit.

ESMEE: Jamie Westland, Steven
Brunswijk, Carolina Dijkhuizen...

Stefano Keizers, Frank Evenblij.
- Right.

Super.
- Esmee thinks: 'Huppetee...

I'm taking the lead. I'm the
leader and I'm going for it.'

I like that.
Esmee, it's in your hands.

You have to remember everything.
We await what you will say.

ESMEE: I have a feeling
we're going to stop soon.

Esmee, 'you can do it.'
ESMEE: 'Let's go, let's go.'

IRENE: Grab them.
- Let's go, guys.

Nice already.
- It's saying six names

get twelve back. That's it.

Yes. Hey, Frank.
- The middle one.

Esmee. Are you sitting there
with Toine van Peperstraten?

ESMEE: No, I'm...
- Stefano has to go in there.

Stephen here.
- Stefano and Caroline have to go in there.

Jamie Westland.
- Esmee, you have to be in this one.

Carolina.
ESMEE: Steven Brunswijk.

Take it easy. Who are you
in the group?

It was a messy meeting.
- I have to be in that one?

FRANK E.: Toine, you have to be in this one.
- Stefano, Carolina. You have to be in this one.

I was in all states and I had
said to myself:

"I'm taking it easy." But no.
Of course I was going to scream.

Hey guys.
- Hi.

Tell. FRANK L.: Talk loud.

There were some people hanging
out of the windows of the train,

and they called everything.
- Esme.

Coupe A must Babette...
- At a certain point I indicated:

These six people have
to go to compartment ONE.

Babette must be in AN. Dionne too.
- Dionne, OK.

Dionne and Giel in ONE.
- OK, Aran must be in ONE.

ESMEE: Aran, yes.
- And Frank van der Lende has to be in ONE.

It all went chaotic,
but still went smoothly.

FRANK E.: Have you seen me anywhere?
TOINE: You have to go in three.

I like that. Such chaos
that turns out well in the end.

Irene, you and me.
We go in car two.

Right away. At the next stop.
- ALSO.

Dionne, Giel, Aran.
You must go to ONE.

A?
- Joe, I don't know yet.

ESMEE: I forgot about Joep, but
at least he shouldn't go to ONE.

So probably in two. Or not in three,
because we were compartment three.

I passed it all on.
- Carolina and I are going to three

Babette to ONE.
- Robbie also to ONE.

Do you know yourself where to go?
- No, but Toine says:

"If there's nothing there,
you have to go to three."

Then you go to three?
We have to go to ONE.

STEFANO: That's right, because
then we'll be three by three.

FRANK L. Two kilos of silver,
huh? FRANK E: That's not cat pee.

You know, the thing is, sure
you want to win silver

if you are later a Traitor
or Faithful.

But you fight together
for the silver.

As it is now, you have to
split in two. STELLA: Yes.

Do I also have to in two.

And since the rest of the names
haven't been mentioned...

I think you
should put all four in three.

ORTAL: That's a lot.
Four people in three.

All of us know where to go.
Except me.

FRANK L: We have to go forward.
You have to go back.

Suitcase, anyway.

Two minutes.
- And turn off the kettle.

Whistling kettle must be turned off.
Turn off the water. Yes, exactly.

ESMEE: Go, go, go.
Come on, guys. You first.

First outside. Irene.

IRENE: Well, I'm out.
Frankly, I had no idea.

I just thought: I have to go
to a certain number. Of a car.

Is this two or not?

Give me that briefcase.
- Come on, walk fast.

I have a heavy suitcase.

"Oh my gosh."
But am I the first?

I went like crazy
to that other platform.

Someone loved to lift
the suitcase back in there.

I could have done it, but those steps
of the past are really like that.

That's not what you have now,
that you can easily get into it.

STELLA: Let's go.
- This side.

The other Dionne.

In two.

GIEL: It's really hysterical.
We only have two minutes.

Whose bag is this? We
all met people

of which I thought:
You're in too. How nice.

But there is no time to greet each
other, because you have to go on.

Hello. Are you also in ONE?
ROBBIE: Yes.

Check to be sure.

ARAN: Dionne, come on. ESMEE:
Guys, does Joep have to go to AN?

TOINE: Come on, Esmee.
- I didn't even get

whom I had passed.
I thought, I'm going to two.

ESMEE: Joep's suitcase.
- Giel, are you going?

FRANK E.: That all went well

not organized,
but still 'smooth'.

JAMIE: Look. New carriage.
STEFANO: Sure.

FRANK E.: Let's check
the pictures. Is it all right?

JAMIE: How nice, huh?
CAROLINA: Super nice.

STEVEN: We're all complete,
boys and girls.

Am I curious if...
Yes, we certainly did well.

Dionne, we did well.
- You don't want to know

how I walked on those
stones with that suitcase.

Well, that's a kick start right
away. ARAN: Absolutely.

We did this well.
- Yes.

He's right, isn't he?
- We already have two kilograms of silver.

Two kilograms of silver.

FRANK E.: Well, I thought it
was quite a lot of nice people.

We had a nice group.
- Who were you with just then?

Babette van Veen.
- Robbie from Editie NL.

Do we know if there are people
who are good friends?

ESMEE: Yes, Babette and Joep. They are
a married couple in 'Good Times'.

IRENE: And Stella we know
as life-threatening...

STELLA: Writer.
- Yes.

I'm working on a novel and I want
to get some inspiration from you.

I want to investigate that
interpersonal, that group dynamic.

And also how that is for me.
How I relate to this.

I like that. This is what
your next book is about.

Only in your book everyone
actually dies ONE by ONE.

TIJL: Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Watch them go.

Hello.
- Joehoe.

TIJL: 18 fresh candidates
who are so brave...

for the most maddening...

most murderous
game in our country.

They should have completed their
first mission,

and they are all

in the right car.

I'm about to meet them.

I am very curious what kind
of meat we have in the c*ck.

FRANK E.: Look who we got there
. Yeah, yeah.

Good afternooon.
- I didn't expect you here.

Just a quick check.
Sylvia Gersen.

Jamie Westland.
- Present.

Steven Brunswick.

Caroline Dijkhuizen.

Stefano Keizers.
- Here I am again.

TIJL: Frank Evenblij.
- Present.

Car three is complete.

Katsjing. It
won't lie on wagon three.

ORTAL: I see 75 years…
ESMEE: Oh shhhh.

ORTAL: What? What then?
IRENE: Oh, Jesus.

Wagon number two.

Wagon number two.
- Hi, Tyle.

STELLA: Hello, Tyle.
- Hi, Ty.

Toine van Peperstraten.Present.

Stella Bergsma. Ortal Friend.

Irene Moors.
- Hi.

Joep Sertons. Esmee van Kampen.

Wagon two, complete.
IRENE: A curl.

A curl. STELLA: That's money.
That's cash.

ESMEE: Yes, guys.
ORTAL: Two kilograms of silver.

I think it's a good start.

Good afternoon.
Wagon number ONE.

Frank van der Lende.
- Present.

Babette van Veen. Robbie Kammeijer.
- Present.

Aran Bade.
- Present.

Gil de Winter.
- Yes, coincidentally.

Dionne Butcher.
- Yes.

Last wagon also complete.

GIEL: Yes, nice. FRANK
L.: Two kilograms of silver.

TIJL: If you feel my hand,
you've been elected.

If you feel nothing,
you are Faithful.

ORTAL: And then he walks past
you and you don't feel anything.

And then he walks
on the other side.

VO: 'The Traitors' is a high stakes
physical and mental adventure.

The 18 brand new players
immediately showed their best side.

Six kilos of silver
to fuel the greed.

TIJL: Dear friends. Welcome
to Kerkrade station.

I hope your train journey
was nice and enjoyable.

The beginning has been made.

That is good news.

Six kilos of silver
is already in the pot.

JAMIE: Six kilos earned. 100
percent of what we could get today.

I say, quite so.

TIJL: After this, the mood
can change very quickly.

In fact, not everyone in this
group will go on this adventure

save to the end.

Many of you will be leaving
the castle between six planks,

or, perhaps worse, tarred
and feathered across the border

be sent to Brabant.

It won't be long before I'm going
to split this group into two.

It will be a group of Faithful.
That will be the largest group.

And a group
of Traitors will come.

Those Traitors have the power

to k*ll one of the
Faithful each night.

STEFANO: Tijl is doing his best
to scare us,

and it's starting to work,

but intimidating texts
only make me feel more like it.

You as a group have
the opportunity every day

to banish ONE person in the hope
that that person is a Traitor.

Whoever lasts the longest
and plays the game best

can look forward
to a pile of silver

which can be up to 40 kilos.

JOEP: We have to
take all the silver there is.

I think everyone should be
fully committed to this.

I want all the silver that
could be made

rake in.

TIJL: To the castle for now.

I would like to say: Have fun.

But what I have to say is:
Very strong.

See you soon. STELLA: Well,
the tone is set. Nice.

On a roll.

ESMEE: Look how cozy this is.
ORTAL: Here we go.

It's really starting now.

ESMEE: Look how nice.

IRENE: Just look how beautiful.

FRANK E.: It's really nice.

IRENE: I thought it
was a magical moment.

Beautiful. Look how beautiful.
I saw the castle and fire,

and like a castle
should be in your mind at dusk.

GIEL: We're going in. ROBBIE:
Is there a fireplace inside?

Not just outside?
- I hope so.

JAMIE: When you see the castle, it's
a moment of realization for you...

I participate in 'The Traitors'.

Home.

Oh, this is great.
Can you play pool well?

JOEP: Good, good. You should never
say that, but it's fun to do.

And darts?
–Are you into the games?

FRANK L.: Sure. Shall we
goose boards?

STELLA: Cheers
to a new adventure.

DIONNE: For
allowing us to be false.

ROBBIE: To a little
cunning and trickery.

FRANK E.: Is it more difficult,
do you think, to be Traitor?

I think it's easier
because you have control.

However? If you are Traitor.
–Well, this is not normal.

GIEL: It's your rules for sure.
–ONE, two, three, four, whoopee.

I wonder if the dynamics
will change in the future.

Sure. JOEP: I hope so.

I hope so.
JAMIE: Way too cozy this.

We're having fun together,
but we're here for a game.

FRANK L.: We can join forces.

That the three of us
fight for each other.

Or do you want to wait for the rolls...
It's nice to know in advance...

I completely agree.
–The downside can be

that one of us is a Traitor. Then
you have stayed in the monkey.

Yes, then you have stayed in the monkey.
- Yes.

I can sign my death warrant, but
I 'd rather go down fighting

than to be led like a sheep
to the slaughter.

Think about it for a second.
FRANK E.: Yes, good idea.

Can we say that now with these.
–Well, great.

FRANK E.: I thought it was strange,
because I had no intention of doing that.

Somehow something came up there.

Cheers. –Shall I get a drink?

GIEL: For me, such an
appointment is worth something.

You need people around you
in the beginning.

Otherwise you'll
be the next day...

VO: The gate is closed.

From now on, the 18 players cannot
escape this psychological adventure.

It is high time to
convene the Council.

ORTAL: OK, now it really starts.
We can't go back from here,

and everything
will be different.

CAROLINA: I felt like my heart
was beating out of my chest.

FRANK L.: This is the moment
we've all been looking forward to.

TOINE: It's going to happen now.

IRENE: Everyone was quiet,
sat down,

and had to look: OK,
where are we? So this is him.

This is that table, this is
where it's going to happen.

People are decided here.

BABETTE: Everyone is looking
at each other all the time.

Everyone is in their head
and constantly trying..

To check if they see
something strange in someone.

FRANK L.: I take a good look
around. I take it in, I smell...

I taste. Let the game begin.

TIJL: This is the
Council Chamber.

And you sit at the Round Table.

The game continues
24 hours a day.

But this is where the difference
can be made.

It's also where the game
really starts.

You can stare at the
treasure here every day

that you can take home with you.

That's how big the
silver pot can get.

Six kilos are already
in your possession.

It will be a while and then
I will point out the Traitors.

Two Traitors.

Or three

four

five.

I think four or five right
at the beginning is a lot.

But yes, anything is
possible in this game.

TIJL: Immediately after arrival
I spoke to you all

in the presence of the silver
and I have asked you the question,

for what purpose you
have come to Castle Erenstein.

I must say that the outcome
of the talks makes me fear

in the future.

O. – Do you see
yourself as a Traitor,

or do you see
yourself as a Faithful?

I am a Traitor.
–No, I am a Faithful.

That it's legal to screw anyone
seems crazy to me.

TIJL: When this is in
front of you, do you think

in sight of the finish line:
'I'm going to share this.'

It depends who's
sitting in front of me.

When I think:
You go for loyalty.

Then I will betray for sure.

I can imagine lying
to these people a little.

I would k*ll to be a Traitor.

I have to say that honestly, because
then the game really gets fun.

As soon as we start
playing the game. Yeah duh.

I want to seek out the dark.

Vicious fanaticism.

That is what I was able
to distill from this group.

That's why it's time we
split you in two.

Soon you will close your eyes,

and point out the Traitors.

I do this by
placing a hand on the shoulder.

If you feel that hand,
you are a Traitor.

If you feel nothing,
then you are Faithful.

The question is...

Who is doomed? The Faithful

who will be k*lled one
by one by the Traitors.

Or the Traitors

who must lie
and deceive an infinite time.

Until they can no longer look
at themselves in the mirror.

I'm going to ask you all
to close your eyes.

It will start.

STEFANO: It's never been so hard
to close my eyes.

Even when I close my eyes I think
: I shouldn't screw this up.

Keep your eyes really closed.

If you feel my hand,
you've been elected.

If you feel nothing,
you are Faithful.

STEVEN: I notice in myself that
every time he walks past me...

That scares me, because
I don't want to be a Traitor.

FRANK E.: I doubted at one point
whether I had felt it or not.

A lot goes through your mind
at a time like this.

ORTAL: Then he walks past you
and you don't feel anything.

Then he walks on the other side.

Then all of a sudden I felt
his hand on my shoulder.

Then I thought:
No, I am a Traitor.

f*cking exciting. Really cool.

STEFANO: It happens.
Ty touches me.

Yes, yes, yes. I am a Traitor.

Meanwhile, my heart starts
beating in my throat.

I can feel my whole jacket
moving.

I think: Everyone is going to
get this.

JAMIE: Then all of a
sudden you feel that hand.

Then you feel something like:
Intense, but then again not.

Will my heart get into
my throat? No, not either.

Oh, yes. I am a Traitor.

TILE: Good.

I now address the
Traitors alone and alone.

I'll count down from three
to zero.

At zero, the Traitors open,
and only the Traitors

their eyes for that one look
of understanding.

Three

two...

A.

STEFANO: I open my eyes
and I immediately see

that Jamie and Ortal
also have their eyes open.

ORTAL: Look, look, look.
Did I miss anyone?

No, I didn't miss anyone.

Super happy with my fellow
Traitors. Stefano has his head on.

I think Jamie is very innocent
and that's his strength.

Then I see those
penetrating eyes.

Stefano Keizers. I think: OK.

I think this is
a very good trio.

I really think so.

TIJL: Traitors, you close
your eyes again.

Now the whole group...

Three

two...

A.

Just look around you.
Where is that innocence?

Where is that purity?

IRENE: It's crazy right away.

Then you suddenly realize
that everyone is suspicious,

but everyone thinks
you're suspicious too.

TIJL: See anything?
Another look? Suspicious smile?

FRANK L.: I open my eyes
and I look at Esmee.

I see

a tight mouth, while she is
giggle the giggle all the time.

So I think: Hela, hela, hola.
What happened here?

TOINE: I look at Frank Evenblij
and I see a rigidity in Frank.

A feeling of: I shouldn't show anything
, I shouldn't do anything for a while.

ESMEE: We have a lot to discuss.
TIJL: Well, dear friends.

You have plenty to discuss.

Tonight we have a delicious
dinner planned for you.

And if possible, I'd like to
see you all there.

ONE more thing.

In time many of
you will be k*lled or exiled.

Then there are three left.

If you are in the majority, you decide
together how to collect the silver pot

that you all fill,
are going to divide.

Either way, it's important
to support each other.

I wish you a lot of wisdom, strength,
but above all 'happy hunting'.

It has begun.
IRENE: Different story this.

STEVEN: It also suddenly feels
different. SYLVIA: Very different.

STEVEN: The fun...
It's not gone, but it's...

There are a few seamstresses
in between. That's crazy.

IRENE: I think you're
pretty panicked right now.

You're just
saying, "Yeah, ooh, ah."

I think: This is not right.
You are draining.

STEVEN: I always talk a lot.
– Did you realize

that he was standing to the right of my chair?
- Yes I have..

To my right? There sat Sylvia,
Stefano and Dionne.

There he stopped.

It's one of those three.

I looked at Stefano
for half a minute,

and every muscle in
Stefano's face moved.

Under his lips,
his nostrils, under his eyes.

Every muscle twitched.

Or that was excitement
of him joining the game.

Is it fear, because he knows
what role he has now?

I'm bursting my shirt here.

Ah, man. I totally hit...
- Are you okay?

Yes, I really got a thump in my throat.
- Yes, me too.

A whole lot is happening next to
me, because Stefano is very nervous.

His face trembled.
He found it super exciting.

That's the first
thing I noticed.

GIEL: A weight was lifted from
my shoulders. I am a Faithful.

I don't have to put on a play.

I have to go
expose the Traitors.

STEFANO: We have to
play flawlessly from now on.

Be sharp all day long.
There is no other option.

If one of us falls,
it can happen very quickly.

ORTAL: Well, how did you like it?
- I have a feeling about people.

For example Stefano. I don't
expect him to be a good Traitor.

Not or yes?
- No, because he's too sweet.

And maybe a flapper.
- Oh yeah.

SYLVIA: I have some people
I have my doubts about.

I trust myself
and I trust Stefano.

I already love that very much.

You have a stoic face.

You are a constant suspect.
You really are.

I heard that sleeve go somewhere.
That I think: Where? Left? Right?

GIEL: You don't know
how many Traitors there are.

DIONNE: I don't know.

I'm guessing four.
- Yeah, four, huh?

STEFANO: They would have
said otherwise.

GIEL: That would mean there's
one in here right now.

He stands with
his hand against the wall.

Leans nicely.

They don't stand together now.
I know that for sure.

JOEP: Why do you think that?
- They're not going to sit together now.

JOEP: No? – No,
I don't think that's smart.

Would you visit each other immediately?
–No, you just made eye contact.

I think you look
at each other for a moment...

And just like that: Hey.
How are you?

DIONNE: Maybe that,
but at most that.

JAMIE: I've heard
from several people

an older guard, like Joep, who are
more irritated by someone busy.

It would be nice for the peace
in the group if they...

STELLA: Who are we talking about here?
–About Steven. He's high in his...

STELLA: Irene also said to him:
You are very busy.

ARAN: That was right after that.

ROBBIE: Who
opened their mouth first?

JAMIE: That was Steven
and then Sylvia.

ARAN: Irene. Irene also immediately
said: Oh, how exciting this.

STELLA: I wouldn't be surprised
if Irene is a Traitor.

Me neither. –Could she?

Very much. One hundred thousand
percent. –I think she could do well.

IRENE: Do you suspect me yet
? I'm just going to ask.

ORTAL: I think you're
a nice, good Traitor.

I can say it isn't. That's
what I say and that's true.

You're there, but I
also have my doubts about you.

Who? Babette?
- Yes.

But I do like you. BABETTE:
Irene is all the time

been in the background and now
she is much more present.

She goes for the man.

I feel a clear
change of energy in her.

Is this a good place?
- I do not know

just quick. She'll be right back.
I don't trust Sylvia at all.

DIONNE: She wants to
convince everyone it's not her.

She yells that all the time.

I sat next to her and the first
thing she said was:

"I trust you completely."
Within three seconds.

OK.

My instinct says:
I want to say that back.

Because she says something nice, but
I couldn't get it out of my mouth.

I noticed that... Anyway,
let's get some air.

FRANK E. There's someone coming
down the stairs.

Do you already have someone
in mind that you suspect?

I find it very difficult.
– It's hard to say.

The question is rather
who can I trust.

At first I thought:
I trust Steven.

But suddenly I don't trust him
at all anymore.

STEFANO: What did he do? –I don't
know. I think he's so different.

I also find Irene so different all of a sudden.
- Yes.

DIONNE: Yes,
Irene is running a campaign.

SYLVIA: She's really running
a campaign. She's all in.

She is blood fanatic.
WHISPERS: I suspect Irene.

I find her striking.
–I cannot deny it.

I don't think it's you.

That's nice. Do you doubt me?

I do not know it either.
Trust me, I really can't lie.

I really can't.

STEFANO: You don't want to know how
different this group has suddenly become.

What I especially like is how many
Faithfuls immediately become suspicious.

As if they are doing their best
to keep the Traitors unknown.

I feel like trusting you,
let me put it this way.

I also feel like trusting you.
So far I trust you.

Hey.
- Hey.

You were in the basement in the beginning...
–Joep, I can't get any height from you.

DIONNE: No, indeed.

JOEP: Then you have to keep me
in it to gain altitude.

I find it difficult. Yes.

Do you already have suspects?
- Yes, of course.

Everyone has suspects.
- I think it's...

I jumped in too fanatically here
.

Jumped in too fanatically?
- Yeah, I came out and I thought...

'Nice, I listen everywhere
and drop names everywhere.'

I get it back like a boomerang,
because everyone suspects me now.

So what should I do
to make it right?

I'm always talkative. I talk a
lot. ORTAL: Just be yourself.

I like testing my jokes.
STELLA: Is it bad to talk a lot?

I think that's not so bad.
- That could be your downfall.

IRENE: Apparently. ORTAL:
You'd be a really good one.

STELLA: Wasn't it...
- I'm not going to say anything more about it

because I'm digging
my own grave. Really.

I would like to say one more line.
- Why did you suspect...

I think Babette is suspicious...
STELLA: I thought Toine was suspicious.

Joe is always like that.

STEVEN: Bumps, Irene.
Sodeju.'Cannot miss that.'

VO: In the east wing of the
castle, secluded from the rest

a small group
put their heads together

to make plans
for the Round Table.

Somewhat premature, because I have a
completely different surprise later

in store for them.

Who do we think
is the strongest player to go?

FRANK E.: Do you know what the problem is?
In the beginning you want to stay in it.

Then you choose
someone at random.

Someone has to get out
and that's the motivation.

That makes it less personal
. That makes it complicated.

FRANK L.: Who do we find strong?
STEFANO: Take Steven for example.

He is able to pull the group
towards himself.

ESMEE: Me too. I think
he likes this game too much

which makes him rub
shoulders with everyone.

STEFANO: So that could
be one to...

FRANK E.: If you do that with
more people and we support that...

FRANK L.: Now you don't know yet,
but are we going to spread this?

ESMEE: I'm for. I'm sure
Jamie would come along.

Jamie just started talking about
Steven himself, for five minutes.

Aran would go too.
Irene has a soft spot for me,

so I could throw that in too.
- I don't quite trust Irene yet.

ESMEE: No, but Irene is also
a strong player.

You shouldn't underestimate her.

STEFANO: So let's not randomly
say to everyone...

FRANK E.: No, I wouldn't either.
–So what are we going to do, Frank?

Steven.

I'm already
finding it difficult.

Do you understand?
Because I think it's stupid too.

BABETTE WHISPERS Carolina,
will you close the door?

Listen. I thought I need
to talk to you.

We had... I feel
like we're on the same page.

Let's meet... This is a bond.

Are we going to get someone
else there? –I do have an idea.

I have an idea too. Esmee.
- Yes.

I also think she would make
a good Traitor candidate.

I think so too.
- I do not care.

Shall I try to do it now?
- Yes.

CAROLINA: I know Esmee.
I trust Esme.

'Still', this is 'The Traitors'.

But Esmee is one of
the few people I know well.

BABETTE: We have a bond.
- OK.

Do you want to join our bond?
- Because she called your name,

and I thought of you too.

But I'm going to be honest.

I thought you were suspicious.
- I thought you were suspicious too,

but we don't mind
if you are a Traitor

if you don't stab our backs yet.

I can help you.
I am not a Traitor.

Say that again, looking at me.

I am not a Traitor.
- And you?

I am not a Traitor.
- I'm not a Traitor either.

CAROLINA: We agree:
This is a bond 'till the end.

VO: It's barely been an hour
since I pointed out the Traitors,

and yet the castle is already
buzzing with suspicions

conspiracies and collusion.

It's time
to invite the group to dinner,

and again bring two silver bars
into play.

"Off we go."
- Yes. Where are we going?

Exciting.
- We're on our way. And where to?

A mission?
–But what are we going to do?

FRANK L.: What are you hoping
for? – Nice in a cafe.

Good food.

Who then?
- Carolina.

BABETTE: Many people suspect Ortal,
but I don't see it that way either.

Yes, I have that too.
–It could be.

Ortal, yes.
- Look, you know what the thing is

when you act? There
comes a time, exhaustion

then you can't be anything
but yourself.

But so does Ortal.
- I?

Why?
–Because you are such a person

that you don't suspect,
so that you could.

No, it's not me.
- Yes Yes.

GIEL: I have
n't spoken to Stella much.

She is writing a book
about this.

People who appear on a
reality TV show...

I don't feel like
getting into that book.

No, nobody. Get out.

ROBBIE: Then they may be different
names, but they know who Giel is.

ARAN: That's a reason
to vote her out.

I don't feel like getting
into that book. Get out.

Chic, say.

ORTAL: We arrive
with temperament.

ESMEE: Kind of like that. –You
drive straight into the moat.

JOEP: Can I take you?
–Chateau Joep.

JOEP: Come on. – Well, Joep,
how beautiful. How luxurious.

ARAN: Wow. –No.Look.

ARAN: Fat chic, say.

We get a glass of prosecco
in hand in a beautiful cave.

How great does this look.
- Thank you.

JOEP: I loved it.
I loved it so much.

Are we going to eat already?
- Yes.

This looks like a candy cane.

Only you know:
It's 'The Traitors'.

So there must be a catch
in the grass.

ARAN: Suddenly Tijl appears
behind us in a corner.

Everyone is called
away ONE by ONE to Tijl.

TILE: Carolina. ARAN: Then
things go wild in the group.

Everyone wants to know what
is being discussed there. Why?

TIJL: If you ask people
about their biggest fear

then stands on
two fear of death.

Do you have any
idea what's on ONE?

CAROLINA: I mentioned something
moronic, which was spiders.

No. Oddly enough, that
's public speaking.

So it turns out that
's public speaking.

Funnily enough,
speaking in public.

Oh, is that on ONE?
- Yes.

Oh, are you serious?
- Yes.

I didn't believe that one bit.
I didn't believe it.

Well, speaking in public.

That is my biggest fear.

That's why I want to ask you to,
later when everyone is at the table

take the floor and say something
to your fellow candidates.

It doesn't matter what.
Your own story, your own words.

OK.
- Two minutes?

OK, and does everyone
have that job? Or will this...

Is this an interview, Giel?
- No.

This is information. I have your name
here on a nice piece of wood.

It's a chain.
You can take that with you.

You will hear later what
the purpose of this is.

Take it with you. You will
hear more about it soon.

Tijl asked everyone separately.

In hindsight I wonder why
he spoke to us separately

because as far as I know
everyone had the same assignment.

Hai. – Hey, Jamie.

I'm going to keep it exactly as
long as the other candidates,

so I'll go a little faster, because
you'll get more information.

I've asked everyone to
take the floor later,

and say something to the rest
of the group for two minutes.

This is very important,
what I am about to say.

If you and your fellow Traitors
during ONE corridor

sitting right next to
each other. If that works

two extra kilos of silver goes
into the pot.

Chaos in my head.
I think: Hey, what?

STYLE: All Traitors ONE corridor
directly next to each other.

That is your assignment. The other two
Traitors also receive that information.

I think it's a difficult mission,
because if there's not three of us

sitting next to each other,
we have to play a weird trick

to make it succeed.

You are now going to take an amulet
and then you immediately walk back.

What have I remembered? Did
he say something about a speech?

It went a little fast.
– Were you a little overwhelmed?

Yes, really. sh*t.

We need to speak.
- Quiet.

I'm not quite sure
what the point is.

So if he does… –Oh, nice.

My brain could n't handle it today
because so much has happened.

GIEL: I feel like there
are people in the group

who had to do something else.
Maybe Ty

given another
assignment to a Traitor.

Oh wait. Wait a minute.

With me he said ONE of the courses,
so if it's three courses...

Should we, if the three of us
have to give a speech...

You have to watch your words.
I keep thinking...

Shut your mouth.
–Faithful and Traitors.

You can sit at the table. It is a
free layout. Sit where you want.

Out of the corner of my eye I see
Jamie hanging his coat on a chair.

Like a pool tourist
claiming his spot.

That's good, because that's a sign
for Ortal and me to take action.

ORTAL: I'd like to be in the middle
of the table. Clever work on the jacket.

I have to give that to him.
Cheers.

STEFANO: Come on. JAMIE: Nice.

BABETTE I'll soon lose him.

Dear friends.

This is the place to speak.

Who can I give the floor first?

I heard we had to do that
and then I immediately thought:

I hope I can be first.
Ladies and gentlemen.

Welcome here in my house.

I'm glad we can be together again
after that nasty corona period.

Glad all my exes are here.
- Hi honey.

Also your current girlfriend.

Glad the witnesses
to my wedding are all here.

So I am one of those people
who finds this terrifying.

I might even rather die.
- You can do this, honey.

OK.

Fellow Faithfuls, some Traitors.

First of all, how nice to be a
part of this.

With 17 Dutch celebrities
and ONE drummer.

Hallelujah, grass and semen.

Everything...
I can't remember my lines.

I immediately forgot my text,
because I was tense anyway.

Hallelujah, grass and semen.
Everything blows.

BABETTE: What is she doing?
Oh, it's a poem.

Would she have written it
herself? A poem about sperm?

About who then?
Whose sperm is that about?

That's how it starts in my head
and then I'm 'lost'.

Then I think: That
minute is over for a while.

Everything is blooming and ripe.
The wind blows in our hair.

And what I like best.
You say my name when I suck you.

IRENE: Wait a minute.
What literary work is this from?

From her own literary work.
STELLA: From my own literary work.

I found people's reactions
were mixed

They liked it,
but also had something of…

"What a strange b*tch this is."

If you think: 'It's getting
boring.' Then you must bless it.

IRENE: That's kind of it.
- Oh, that's it.

My tactic is to, like
Joep Sertons, very often

theatrical... pauses...
dropping.

STEVEN: Is that Joep? ARAN:
What I like about the job

what I do at 'Boulevard'
is that I always listen

to your stories and now I am
part of it myself.

STEVEN: At first I was thinking
about what jokes to tell.

Two minutes full, I do easily.

Then I thought: No.
TILE: Steven.

I wanted to deliver a message.

Unfortunately, my mother passed
away on November 3 last year.

I am proud of what
I have achieved,

and what I want to pass on to...
You all know.

You can achieve anything you want
as long as you work hard for it.

When I stood at the door
as a catering porter, I said:

'I would like to become a
comedian.' Then many people said:

“Steven, put it out of your mind.
That is reserved for few people.'

In corona time I have
not been one to complain

about the measures

even though my mother passed
away. Then I always get emotional.

Life sucks,
life isn't always easy.

We lose people, but
all those people we lose

would all like
us to get on with our lives

stay happy
and stay with friends.

I really liked Steven's speech.

This was a vulnerable side
of him that I hadn't seen yet.

And which is also 'tricky'
to show.

I'm a radio maker at 3FM and that's
why I want to make radio briefly

in this minute and a half.
I think of a shape

that I'm going to make radio.
I like that.

That's my favorite thing
in the world.

So I want to ask you
to close your eyes.

We're used to that by now. Close your eyes.
Nothing crazy is going to happen.

You too, Joep. I want you
to listen to what you hear.

Because sound sometimes says...
You too, Sylvia. Close your eyes.

SYLVIA: I almost felt that hand
on my shoulder again.

DIONNE: Sylvia had
just lost herself a bit.

I remembered that one.

When you hear this...
TAP TO WINE GLASS

do you fancy a drink.

But when you hear this...

Sinterklaas on his white horse.

Amerigo or what is his name these days?
- Ozo fast.

Ozosnel.

Frank L. I think you've
been given another assignment.

Why did you deliberately
ask to close your eyes.

Lovely people.

To me, there is
something special going on.

I thought: A good moment to

to attract extra love to me.

Ever since I got on the train,
I feel an incredible love.

That means a lot to me.

That worked very well.
People even get emotional.

There is indeed far too
much evil in this world.

It would be nice if we could
love each other a little more.

BABETTE: Jamie said
at the beginning of the evening:

"I heard something about having to
say something at a certain hallway."

"f*ck you." Are you going to do this
now? Then I'll k*ll you tonight.

If you do this now,
I'll kick you out tonight.

Dear people, dear people. SYLVIA:
What's happening. I won again...

Also in the back, Joep, Sylvia.

This is a short break
for a spicy intermediate dish.

Grab your amulets.

STELLA: I've been waiting for it.
- This is going to be short and sweet.

Who starts?

Yes that's OK. TIJL: Yes? OK.

Stella, you can have your amulet

by letting me hang around
the neck of someone you think:

"That's a Traitor."

STELLA: Oh.

JAMIE: 'Holy sh*t.'

TIJL: We're short on time.
- Toine.

TIJL: Toine.
ESMEE: Well, that's fast.

TIJL: Your turn. I'll also pass
it on to my neighbor, Aran.

TILE: Aran.

I give mine to Joep.
- Why does everyone give it to the one next to them?

SYLVIA: Joep gives it
back to me. TIJL: Well, Joe.

JOEP: Great. Could you give this
to Frank Evenblij?

TIJL: Absolutely.
- I didn't like that very much.

I thought: Why, Joe?

What have I done to you that
makes you see me as a Traitor?

Give this to Joep Sertons.

Yes, refunded in kind.
TILE: Sylvia.

Yes? Oh, wait. Can I?

TILE: No.
- Just say it.

OK, you, Stella.

ORTAL: 'Take one
for the team', Stella.

TIJL: Please, Stella.Esmee.

ESMEE: Aaron.
- Yeah, dude. Go ahead.

TIJL: Steven, I'm coming to you.

STEVEN: Stella.
- O.

STEVEN: Sorry.

TILE: Dionne.
- Sylvia.

TIJL: Sylvia.Look.Ortal.

I say...

Babette. TILE: Babette.

There you are.
- Oops.

TILE: Jamie.
- Then I thought: You know what I'm doing?

I do it to her too. Sorry, baby.

BABETTE: Really?
ORTAL: Somehow I like it

that Jamie also gives the necklace to
Babette and on the other hand I think:

Is that really smart, Jamie?

TIJL: Stefano Keizers.

Robbie.

ROBBIE: Really? Stefano.
ESMEE: Totally offended.

STEFANO: As I expected,
he feels it through.

Robbie is such a sweet boy. He ca
n't handle those accusations.

That's good to know, because
I can do that at a later stage

pressure, I think.

TILE: Irene.
- Actually, I have no idea.

We all play bluff poker.

Gill.

BABETTE: Jill?

Irene.
- Is he going back to Irene?

TILE: Carolina.
- sh*t. Am I really going to do a suspicion?

Am I going to say openly who I'm on
or am I going to randomly go on someone.

Stella.

ESMEE: Suppose she is.
TILE: Robbie.

Then Stella already had
some necklaces and I thought:

"I'm not going to
show the back of my tongue."

'No way' that I'm going to tell
who I suspect.

It's really hard
for me to point someone out.

Then I thought: Walk
to Stella one more time.

FRANK L.: It suits you.
- Maybe I'm so exiled.

Four.
- Four already? Oh dear.

Babette.
- Yes, Stella.

I did not like it.
I didn't expect it at all.

Really not expected.

But it happened.

It was a strange sensation.
I had all

not feeling that people
suspected me all day.

Suddenly everyone, a number of
people, started calling my name.

I give it to Aran.
- Aran.

ARAN: Then I thought, I have
three. What does this say?

Why? Is it a feint of people?

Is it to make me suspicious?
TIJL: It starts

in this loving and joyful group.

Most of everyone.

I had a whole forest of wood
in front of the door.

TIJL: Because you were absorbed
in each other's wonderful stories,

and because of this commotion
have lost sight of things...

FRANK L.: The silver bars.
- You have

recently earned two silver bars.
Congratulations.

DIONNE: Why did we have to
make a speech?

A few people probably
had a different assignment.

It can't be
that we earned silver

by talking to a group
for two minutes.

TIJL: So nice. A round
of applause and no one knows why.

IRENE: This program is not about
who can give the best speech

because I don't think anyone
is interested in that.

Something else was going on
and I'm breaking my head over it.

ESMEE: He didn't say how much
we could make tonight.

JOEP: That's absolutely true.
DIONNE: Why are there two rods?

IRENE: What did we miss?
We missed something.

That irritates me.
We missed something.

DIONNE: Does it have to do with the number
of chains that have been laid correctly?

We have two silver bars,
but why?

BABETTE: Jamie said at
the beginning of the evening:

"I heard something about having to
say something at a certain hallway."

Yes, that was a small
mistake on my part.

Really?
- I didn't hear that.

Has anyone else heard
that at one point...

No, I wanted to know when
I was going to give a speech.

BABETTE: Yes, I mean speech.

JAMIE: f*ck you. Go do this now,
because I'll k*ll you tonight.

If you do this now,
I'll kick you out tonight.

I thought: Then I can sit down.
Then I'm done with it.

So is it at a certain hallway?

You were also unsure about
what Tijl had told you?

JAMIE: I was unsure about
my speech, but it happened so fast.

'I can't handle that.'

I don't believe Tyle told me

that I had to do something
at a specific moment.

Only that I
had to speak for two minutes.

I didn't want to make a mistake.
I think I did well.

We really have to play
flawlessly from now on.

Be sharp all day long.
There is no other option.

If one of us falls, it can
suddenly happen very quickly.

Here we go again.
STEFANO: Towards the night.

I find that night
already exciting.

We have earned
two bars of silver,

and we have no idea
what we did right.

Could we have made more silver
or was it just two,

STEFANO: Two silver bars for an entire
job doesn't seem like much to me.

For an entire evening.
- I want to know why...

Everyone is
addressed individually.

Maybe a few people have
been on a different assignment.

That's a very smart...
- A few people have been given a different assignment.

Sure.
- That has to be.

GIEL: I thought it was said that someone
had to give a speech in a hallway.

That was called at the end.
- But I don't know.

Something about Jamie.
ORTAL: I think he said it.

That he asked: 'Does that have to be done
during a certain course?' I do not know.

Such was the explanation.

STEFANO: Although my general
feeling about today is good...

I think I have two strong
fellow Traitors on my side.

But I have to admit Jamie
made a stupid mistake.

What if we're all right about
Stella being a Traitor?

How do the
Traitors react to this?

Then you also get tension
within the Traitor Group.

Suppose there are three
or four of them.

They're together tonight.

Stella may be among them.
Then it is said:

"Stella you're under suspicion."
STEFANO: They get angry.

Good detective
work is being done here.

I hear so many clever things.

I don't know how I'm in the
group. I think I'm a danger.

That could also k*ll you.

I wouldn't be surprised if
I didn't survive the night either.

That I will be k*lled.

STEFANO: I think anyone
who doesn't have a pendant

is in the danger zone.
- Do you think?

Anyone without a pendant...

Isn't suspected enough
for a Traitor to think:

"We can do something with that."

That could be a tactical choice
.

No, what I think. If Stella
is gone tomorrow

the Traitors think that's
a good idea, I think.

Then it is a collective decision
that someone has to leave.

You're not going to k*ll someone
who will soon be banished.

STEFANO: Exactly.
- You keep it in.

STEFANO: That would be a stupid thing to do.
- Can also.

Stella is a crazy girl, but
she's not a Traitor. I think.

Can't say it bothers me much

except I didn't expect it.

I then think: Would people
not like me? But further.

A lot can happen
in the meantime.

That's true, but there's work
to be done on your end.

What should I do then?
- I do not know.

Guest.
- I don't know. I don't know.

Individuals.
- There's work to be done.

This is a function call.
- Funny.

The only thing that scares me
about that is that people think

that I'm unpopular and they
can k*ll me tonight.

SYLVIA: It would be very
'obvious' if they k*lled you.

You're a prime suspect,
so that would be stupid.

Is that stupid? JAMIE: Yeah,
you're a prime suspect.

If you think about it, that's not smart.
- No?

No not at all.
STELLA: What does this say?

Do I need to do something with this?
Maybe if I want to continue in the game.

Maybe I'll be k*lled tonight.
*Hello, darkness, my old friend.*

*I've come to talk to you again*

TIJL: Nothing is more difficult
than k*lling a friend.

With that feeling, the Traitors
will enter the turret tonight.

That's where Ortal, Stefano
and Jamie

the brand new Traitors,
choose their first victim.

There they begin
their bloody crusade.

STEFANO: I walk to the conclave
with a burning sensation.

It just took and it just took.

Now we can finally
talk to each other.

Total liberation.

So. ORTAL: Guys.

ORTAL: Now is the time to finally
join my fellow Traitors...

We are mean.

Just chatting
and that feels very nice.

We're f*cking good.

I was glad none of the three
of us got those suspicions.

At that game at the table.

That may also mean that they are
still keeping it to themselves.

I don't dare to trust it yet.
- Nobody played fair.

That's what they said.
- I felt strong,

so the three of us at the table.

End of day ONE and then
all three without such a chain.

I am very happy
with my fellow Traitors.

I think they're doing great.
If I were a Faithful...

Pfoe. Then you have a difficult
assignment for the three of us.

STEFANO: I recommend infiltrating
as many leagues as possible.

I don't know if I should
do bonds. I play it ignorant.

Play it the way you like it.

JAMIE: I'm supposed to be
confused and I'm really excited.

A happy,
playful labrador: Oh, nice.

Be careful in that, because there
was a short moment at the table.

Some people had heard of you

that you had to do
something between courses.

STEFANO: That was our assignment.
- Ooh, that was tricky.

Did you spoil yourself?
- Yeah, a little bit. That sucked.

I saw you turning red and I thought,
I'm looking the other way.

So that you were soon no longer red.
- Giel realized it too.

Yeah, that sucked.

Who are we going to k*ll?

I want to make a
proposal for that.

At first in theory.
ORTAL: I'm curious.

As far as I'm concerned, we need
to make sure that we all

who thinks independently, works
it out as quickly as possible.

What I'm most afraid of

is that at the Round Table someone
suddenly comes up with a good idea

with which he or she gets
the whole group on board.

There are a number of
individual thinkers.

They can suddenly realize something.
- Yes.

The people who go along more with each
other or are still anxious about it

we can still use.

Then I know someone.
That's Joep.

Only there is ONE thing with Joep...
- Joep trusts me.

Joep is not good in the group. Do
you see Joep getting the group with him?

People suspect him a little
and find him vague.

The ones I had in mind
were Radio Frank,

but no one suspects him.

I think Gil is a good one.
Giel fits well in the group.

It can easily get people.
- Good one, for what? To keep it?

To k*ll.
- Real?

Sure.
- Can I just... Think aloud...

What we think about this. You vote
for Babette with your necklace.

You think she's suspicious.
I think: I'm coming.

The two of us suspect her.
What if she gets k*lled tonight?

One thing is certain.
Blood must flow tonight,

and it will happen anyway.
