05x06 - Deep Freeze

Post by bunniefuu »

Dr. Sledkin, please calm down.

- Calm down? It's been three days.

How much longer do I need to be observed?

This is ridiculous! I'm fine.

- Dr. Sledkin, we still don't know
what happened to you.

You say something stung you,
but we don't know what it was.

- I told you what it was.

There is a creature out there,
a very large creature.

And until we find it,
we are all in danger.

- Tom, we need to talk.

So that's it.

My mom's going to tell everyone
about the dragons. Tonight.

She says if she doesn't
tell the adults her way,

Sledkin's going to find
the dragons eventually.

There's gotta be a way to stop her, right?

Wait. Are you guys...

Do you want
the secret to come out?

- Well, you know
I don't like keeping secrets...

- And my moms miss Glowmer and...

- It might not be so bad.

- Unbelievable!

I thought we all agreed on this.
- Woo!

It is frosty out there!
What's up with that?

Whoa! What'd I miss?

- They were all just telling me
they wanna spill the dragon secret.

- Huh. Well, I don't know about you guys,

but I like having a secret
Dragon Rider identity.

Makes me mysterious.

- That's a-a great reason, Eugene.

But once the other adults know,
there's no turning back.

More people will find out.

Some good, sure.

But also more Buzzsaws.

Dragons will be in danger.

Are you sure you're ready to risk that?

This is probably it.

She's gonna tell them.

- :
Phil. Try not to scare them.

- If she thinks I'm just gonna be cool
with this, she can forget it.

- Alright, alright!
Settle down, please.

I'm not one to sugarcoat,
so I'm going to level with you all.

I was just informed about something.

Something that puts us all in real danger.

The winter storm isn't over.

In fact, it's only going to get worse.

A severe deep freeze
is headed this way,

and temperatures are going to plummet.
- Oh. Oh, no. That's-- That's bad.

- The batteries that
store ICARIS' power

are already frozen and--

- What was that?
- The auxiliary power failing.

Make no mistake, people,

this is an emergency situation.

Given our remote position
and limited resources,

we are extremely vulnerable.

No power means no heat.

We need to see to it
that the data and samples in the lab

are shielded from the cold.

Otherwise, all of the research
we've done so far

will have been for nothing.

We'll be using blankets

and anything we can find for that purpose.

Our communications are down,

but Director Wong will remain
in the operations center

in hopes we can update
the nearest ranger outpost

and receive aid.

Dr. Sledkin continues
to recover in the infirmary.

We'll update her as necessary.

Linda, last we checked,
is on her way from a supply outpost

with winter coats
and other gear for all of us.

Dr. Kullersen and myself
will be attempting to bring

the emergency generator
back online.

The line that connects us
to civilization is a thin one,

and if we're going to survive this,
we all need to work together.

Lastly, I need all of you kids

to stay in one place,
so we don't have to worry

about your safety
while we handle this.

You are to remain in Dr. Kullersen's dome
and wait for word from us.

- A trip to the Fire Realm
would be real nice right about now.

- Yeah. I could work on my tan.

- At least the dragons
are safe down below.

And my mom is waiting
until this is over to let the secret out.

One less thing we have to worry about.

- I'm sure Linda will be back
with the winter gear soon.

- Yeah. No need to panic.

Linda's totally reliable.

- Yeah!

Ah!

Huh?

Oh, come on!

- I can't hear you. Linda!

You're break--
I got a whole box--

- Where are you? Linda?
I'm-- fine--

- Linda! Ah! Dang it!

Lost her.
- What?

- She slid off the road. Van won't start.

Bet she was listening
to Tchaikovsky again.

She says she's fine.

She's got plenty of winter gear.

It's us who have to worry.

- I wish I had some better news, but...

So the winter gear is not coming.

How about the generator? Any luck?

That's a negative.
Generator's frozen over.

- Just turn it off, Alex.

- You don't wanna hear what's going on?

Ah...

Hey, does spicy mustard freeze?

You know, since, by nature, it's hot.

- We're all gonna freeze to death
with him.

- We can't just sit here.
We need to do something!

- The dragons could help.

They could start a fire
and warm everyone up.

- I don't know, Jun.
Adults are all over the place.

One wrong move, and there goes the secret.

- It's really bad out there, Tom.
The power's out,

Linda is who knows where
with all the winter gear,

and the temperature
is dropping by the minute.

We're talking about life and death.

- And no Wi-Fi.

Life and death.

- Okay. You guys are right.

Our dragons have the ability
to help everyone get through this,

but we can't risk them being seen.

- Super stealth mode. Got it.

- We need to keep humans and dragons safe.

There's only one road to Rakke Town.

If Linda's anywhere, she'll be there.

D, Eugene, can you guys search the road?
Make sure to--

- Stay low. I know.
Don't worry. Nobody will see us.

- Which is a shame
because my hair is on point!

- I think a lightning blast from Thunder
could power up the generator's battery.

- Wu, Wei, and I will go with you.

Wait.

How do we get your mom and Phil
away from the generator?

- We'll run interference.
- How?

- Leave that to us.

Rakke Corp has insurance, right?

- We are gonna get in so much trouble.

- Who will they blame? Dragons?

Dragons don't exist, right ?

- Uh, my mom knows they exist.

- Tom is gonna get in so much trouble.

The temperature in the lab is dropping.

Our samples are starting to freeze over.

- We're doing everything we can.

Any luck?
- This thing's all shot to...

This just went from really bad to worse.

- We should check it out.
Make sure nobody's hurt.

- It's freezing up here!

And pitch black down there!

I can barely see anything.

- Who needs to see
when you've got Plowhorn's trusty nose?

Right, girl?

- Uh, I need to see. Me! I do!

I like seeing. So does Webmaster.

- It's all good.
When you know Plow like I do,

that worry goes away.

Look out!

- D! My dude!

We're supposed to be following
the road, right?

Looking for Linda?
Uh, girl?

Take us down.

- I don't see the road.

Lemme guess. She lost the scent?

- Yeah...

Her sense of smell
gets weak in the cold.

I thought it would hold up
a little longer.

She's been doing okay
in the Ice Realm, but...

It's okay, girl. You tried.

- So, we're lost as the world
becomes one giant icebox?!

Fan-freaking-tastic.

- We're not lost! We just gotta
find our way back to the road.

In the dark...
- We don't have time to wander around!

It's freezing out here!

- Well, our dragons don't come
standard with headlights!

- Wait. But what if they did?

- I gotta admit, Eugene.

This is a pretty ingenious idea.

- Yeah, I know it is.
I'm full of great ideas.

Dragon armor. Wheeled dragon boots
for smooth landings.

Dragon jet packs.

- They already fly.

- Yeah, but dragons with
jet packs would fly even faster.

See? Faster is cooler.

You gotta have vision, my man.

Webmaster gets it.

- No. I think he sees something. Look.

- You know how these things work?

- Never seen one this big before,
but they all work the same.

Let's get the battery restarted.

It's completely frozen.
Can't do a thing until it's thawed.

- Leave that to me.

Wei, thaw the sucker out.
Gimme a heat blast.

- It worked! Nice job, Wei.

- Hurry!
They could come back at any second.

- Alright.

I need a concentrated blast
on this electrode.

- What are you doing?

There you are! Whatever you are.

- We should k*ll the lights.

Eugene, what are you doing?!

I'm going in for a closer look!

- She might see Webmaster!

- Relax. The windows are frosted over.

I can't really see,
but I think she's asleep.

- She seems to be breathing.
- Good.

- Don't wake her.

The less she's aware of this, the better.

- Alright. Light it up, pal.

- Make a fool outta me, huh?

Let's see how you like
a tranquilizer dart.

- Quiet, you two.

Wu, we need cover now!

- You can't hide from me.

That's the thing about
stinging this scientist.

She stings back.

- Hurry!
- Almost. Almost...

We got power!

Way to go, pal.

- Bullseye. Now, one more of these

to put you fast asleep.

Hey, you!

- Alex!

- Don't worry.
She's, uh, she's alive.

Mostly.

- Are you okay, pal?

- What happened?

- Tranquilizer dart.

- The generator!

- Oh, we fried it. This is bad.

It's okay, pal. It's not your fault.

Let's check the generator again.
Something's going...

- We gotta go. Someone's coming.

- I can't move him.
The dart, it-it made him woozy.

- We can't just stay here.

- Well, I can't carry him!

That's why I'm the rider
and not the other way around.

- That's the signal, Plowhorn.

Pull with all your might!

Ee... What?

Huh?

: Come in, ICARIS.
I don't know if you can hear me,

but I think I'm being abducted.

By aliens.

- He's improving.
Attaboy, Thunder.

- A dart that size
won't affect him for too long.

- Guys, guys, guys.

- Tom! What did you do?

- Mom!
I know this looks bad,

but... Okay, I admit this is bad.

- Did you destroy the windmill, too?
Was that you?

The generator is fried.

Now, we have no hope of restoring power.

- That was not on purpose.

- Tom! Don't you see
that keeping this secret

puts everyone at risk?

I've nearly been k*lled.

Your friends, you, everyone.

Now the generator! Dr. Sledkin!

- She was attacking us--
- Enough is enough!

Olivia! Everything okay down there?

- Not really!
- Mom.

I'm sorry. Please. Don't say anything.

They can't learn like this.

- Take the dragons below.

I've got enough to worry about now
with cleaning up your mess.

- Come on, everyone.

- Dr. Sledkin?

The generator!
Wh-- What happened?

- : Did you see them?
The giant lizards.

- Oh, boy. She's hallucinating again.

Better get her back
to the infirmary stat.

- Way to keep up, Thunder.

Sledkin's dart's wearing off,
so that's good.

- Yeah, I guess.

My mom could be right.

The harder I try to keep
the dragons secret,

th-the more I put everyone in danger.

- Then, maybe it's time
for the secret to come out.

- But that could be worse.
I'm no Hiccup.

I can't bring humans
and dragons together.

- We're humans.
We get along with the dragons.

- And that's kind of thanks to you.

- Are you sure this is
the best course of action?

- With the generator
completely out of commission,

all communications down,
Linda's van crashed,

our best bet for getting
everyone through this

is to go for help ourselves.

- The nearest ranger station
isn't too far away by air.

Hopefully, they'll have some
spare parts for the generator,

supplies, and winter gear.

- I thought those winds were
too harsh up there for takeoff.

- We can't afford to risk not going.

The temperature is dropping, and every
minute that passes, the risk grows.

- Good luck.

- Whoa! Keep her steady.

- I'm doing my best!

But Mother Nature
is giving me a hard time.

What was that?
- We got a problem!

The rotor's freezing!

- Huh? Look!

What's going on?
Oh no!

- Phil!
- Somebody do something!

- The blade's jammed! It must be frozen!

- Oh no!

- I can't look!

- I can't stabilize it!

Hold on!

Olivia!

- What was that?!

- Tom! Thunder! You...

- What? How?

- Hold on, you two. You can do it!

- You got this, Feathers! Come on!

No!

- What?

- No! Ah!

- Uh... Hiya, Pop.

- D'Angelo?!

What is this thing?!
- Her name is Plowhorn.

Don't worry, girl. He means thank you.

- Whoa!

- Need some help?

- I'm so glad to see you.

- You know, this would
all be a lot easier

if our dragons had jet packs. Swoosh!

- What?
- Let that one percolate.

- Tom? You...

Everyone can see us.

- It's okay.

Someone told me it was best that
the secret come out now, anyway.

- W-- B-- Wha?

- Hi, Mom!

So... I have a dragon.

- Oh, me, too! And look.

See the headlights? I invented them.

Alejandra.

- You have a lot of explaining to do.

- Uh...

- Uh... Hey, everyone!

I'd like to introduce
you all to our friends,

the dragons.

I know they look big and fearsome,

but they can be great friends and allies

if we show them respect.

And protect them.

- And luckily, all Rakke employees

are under strict secrecy guidelines.

And that means no telling anyone
outside of here about dragons.

Right?

Out of the way! Move it!

I made it back, and I brought
plenty of winter coa...ts.

- Everyone, listen!
There are dragons!

We have to do something! I saw...

- You're not gonna believe this,

but there are also aliens
out in the forest.

- Hey, riders!
Let's warm this place up.

- Light it up, Plow.

- Webs can help
warm everybody up, too.

Flame it out, Webmaster!

- Look out!

Incoming!

- No! Wait!

- Uh... This is gonna take some work.
