03x08 - Finale

Post by bunniefuu »

[pop music plays]

-[Heidi] Hello, hello, and hello.
-Hello.

-Hello.
-Hi, Heidi.

Here we are, our final three.

I have to say,
speaking for Heidi and me,

it's just been an honor
to be with you on this journey.

The top three is a huge accomplishment
in and of itself.

-Thank you.
-Thank you.

How do you all feel?

-Great. Amazing.
-Great.

Come on, let's see the happy dance!

[all laugh]

[Yannik] The win of this competition
can change someone's life.

It's just amazing.

[all laugh]

Yannik, congratulations again on your win.

Thank you so much.

[Tim] Now, we've already given you
this assignment,

so this is just a little recap.

You were tasked with creating
a ten-look finale collection.

The collection should include
at least four accessible looks

and two menswear looks.

And as you know,
as part of your final assignment,

you will be pitching your brand
to Christine Beauchamp tomorrow.

Oh, my God.

I can't adequately express
how important your business pitches are

to the final outcome of this competition.

It is imperative that Christine
has a clear vision of you and your brand,

and what you plan on doing
with a million dollars.

[Heidi] Wow.

I was in the bottom two just now,
so I can thank my lucky stars

that I wasn't the one that went home.

And I'm not very good at public speaking.
It's daunting.

You will continue to have
the design studio and resources

for the last-minute details
of your collection.

And I don't like saying this.

I will see you tomorrow
for our final Tim Talk.

I know.

[Tim]
So we can discuss your finale collections.

Your finale fashion show
will be on a rooftop

in the heart of the Fashion District
in Downtown Los Angeles.

Oh, my God.

I'm final three. That is...
I wanna say unbelievable,

but I'm always imagining me
in this place.

Well, good luck, and I'll see you
for your final fashion show.

[all cheer]

-See you tomorrow, everyone.
-Bye.

[all] Bye.

We're the final three!

Oh, my God!

Whoo!

[pop music plays]

Hey, Georgia.

Hey. How's it going?

Tired. How are you?

Yeah, good.
I mean, I'm exhausted.

-Good. Exhausted.
-[Georgia] But happy.

Oh, me, too.

[Yannik]
I woke up this morning, I was crying.

I'm in the f*cking final.
Like, seriously, I did it.

I started this journey
feeling as an outsider,

a little bit scared that I'm
going to be judged only using white.

Often people say,
like, my brand is freaky.

I think you completely
come from a different planet.

[Yannik]
I am able to evolve and learn.

It's a beautiful color palette.

[Yannik] Throughout my career
as a designer,

not everybody understood my fashion.

Yannik, you are the winner.

[all cheer]

[Yannik]
So I'm very happy to be seen.

In the past month, I worked so hard
for this final assignment.

It's really an homage to handcrafted,
classic men's tailoring.

It's a classic tailored shirt dress,
which in the back is pretty naked.

It's all about this one million now,

and I just don't want
to show something ordinary.

[pop music plays]

I tried eight times to get fundings
in Switzerland for my brand,

and it never, never worked.

Since I arrived here,
I have the feeling. This is it.

This time in life, I'm on the right time,
on the right place, and it has to be.

-[Georgia] Hello.
-Hi.

-[Georgia] How are you?
-Hey, girl.

Ah, tired and excited.

[Georgia]
It's always a mixture of both, isn't it?

-[Rafael] Yes.
-Yeah.

-[Yannik] Hey.
-Hey, designers.

Hello.

Oh, you all don't look too stressed.

We're hiding it well.

Why don't y'all join me for a chat?

[Yannik] Yay.

[Georgia]
We're all so excited.

Oh, my God, she's amazing.

And she really inspired me a lot
when I watched the last season.

You are the winner of Making the Cut.

-[applause]
-[sobs]

I love her.

-Hi.
-Hey.

[Andrea]
How are you doing?

Oh, my God. Business plan.

[Yannik] Yeah.

-Business presentation.
-Yeah, how did it go for you?

I was very nervous.

-Okay.
-However, I had a moment to myself.

And I said, "You need to be
exactly who you are.

Just sell exactly what you've been selling
this entire time."

In your business plan,
you read or you feel free?

Honestly, I went with the flow.

-Mm-hmm.
-Like, I knew what I wanted to say,

but I had to speak from my heart.

You get one shot at doing this,
and I kind of just... I went with it.

I think I really go with that.
Like, be true to myself.

As you said, like, show who I am.

[Yannik]
I am that crazy, weird dude.

And to be taken, as an artist,
serious is one thing.

It's already super difficult.

But I really want to be taken serious
as a business person.

It's really nice to talk to Andrea.
She has been through that whole process.

And you did that with a child.
I have a child, too.

-Yeah.
-And I left my baby at twelve months.

-Oh, wow.
-I was breastfeeding.

So I was like,
"Okay, I've got to stop breastfeeding

so it allows him
to learn to be on his own."

You're doing such a brave thing.

-Oh.
-I'm so proud of you.

Thank you.

I have an amazing family
that have supported me the whole time,

and I'm going to work
and fight for my life here.

This is so special.

You all have a bond
that is gonna be unbreakable,

so stay close.

-We will. We will.
-Yeah.

We're family.

I can't wait to see who takes my torch.

[all cheer]

-Nice to meet you.
-Thank you.

-See you all.
-Bye.

Is she wearing Louboutin?

Oh, 'cause you can see the red underneath?

Yeah. [laughs]

[pop music plays]

[Yannik]
Hey, guys. Hello.

We're pretty much done,

-but today we have Tim Talk.
-Okay.

-How are you?
-I'm good.

-Good to see you.
-I'm happy you're still here.

[pop music plays]

-You see this?
-All those decent little hand tacks?

-Pleats.
-So that that stays clean?

Yes.

[Rafael]
In all my journey in the competition,

I learned not just in the competition,
in my life.

[pop music plays]

I started the competition so high.

A show-stopper.

Thank you.

[Heidi] Congratulations.
You are the winner.

[applause]

[Rafael]
And then I had my accident.

So hurt.

It was a hard moment for me,
but I'm feeling more strong.

[pop music plays]

I learned a lot. I improved myself.
I improved my English.

Heartbeat.

-Heartbeat.
-Yeah.

Perfect.

Now I just need to finish it.

My inspiration
for my final collection is LA.

[pop music plays]

It's streetwear with a bit of sportwear.

Volumes, colors, a little of glamor.

This jacket was inspired in that building.

And inside the coat,
I have my Downtown LA print.

[pop music plays]

I really believe in energy.
My mother, she fought cancer.

She told me,
"You need to think positive.

You need to work with your heart,
with your soul,

and go and show your work to the world."

When I see everything,
what I do In the last two weeks...

[crying]

I'm from a very small farmland
in Brazil.

Arriving in this final, this means
I give more proud for my mom,

and I really hope she can have
opportunity to watch me.

Hello, final three.

-[gasps] Tim!
-[Yannik] Hello, Tim!

[Tim] How is everyone?

I'm going to check in with each of you.

This is not a critique
of your collections.

If you have questions,
if you have concerns, I'm here for you.

It's just a buoying-up session.

-Okay?
-Okay.

-All right.
-Good.

Georgia, this looks like a show.

Yeah!

The second-to-last assignment,
we did a social media video.

I made a hero piece
as well as an accessible piece.

-You did.
-I learned from that.

And I wanted to bring this
to my final collection.

[pop music plays]

Throughout the journey on
Making the Cut, I've tried to grow.

It has to go in the same family.

-Yeah.
-Yeah, I agree with you.

Obviously had my pitfalls.

I think I was being safe.

I think it was a dangerous move.

[Georgia] I don't crumble.
I really learnt from this process.

[pop music plays]

-I truly loved it.
-Thank you.

And I think I've got the formula.

You are the winner.

What?!

My final collection was inspired
by the assignment that I won

with my sculptural piece
and print dress.

[pop music plays]

So I thought this would be
a very clever way

to grow that into my finale.

And I basically created
a sculpture from paper,

and I photographed that,
and I transferred it onto print.

So this is my collection.

I'm really focused on accessibility
as well as doing show dresses together.

My brand identity is sculptural.

When I was really young,
I wanted to be a sculptor.

I used to make my own clothes.
I would dress my mom.

And I really felt that
that was my calling.

My mother died when I was 18 years old,
and her only wish was for me

to go to university
and do something with my life.

So this is the print.

Winning one million dollars
will help my brand

and obviously, you know,
make her wish.

It would mean everything.

[laughs]

Can't wait to show you. Bye.

So this is not the same print
that you had in the concept store?

-No, no.
-No.

This is completely new.

-It's beautiful.
-Thank you.

Ah, this makes me feel much better.

Well, you should feel good.

-Good. Thank you.
-You've work hard.

-Oh, give me a hug. [chuckles]
-Aw.

Thank you so much, Tim.

-Congratulations.
-Yeah.

Yes!

-Yannik.
-Hi, Tim.

So how are you feeling?

I did a classic men's tailored
inspired collection.

And I always have, like,
a runway version of it

-and an accessible version of it.
-[Tim] Okay.

But in similar fabrics.
Not exactly the same.

Oh, this is smart.

Then my risk piece comes.

Uh-oh. There's a risk piece?

Yes. It's draped on her body
in the front.

[Tim]
Got it.

And your model's okay wearing it?

-Absolutely is.
-Perfect.

[Yannik]
I'm taking a risk.

I'm going to show a bare,
blank a*s, and even Tim likes it.

I have now all the details of a pants.

[Tim] Okay.

[Yannik]
But it's a dress.

Where the pockets are, the arms come out.

You don't say anything?

I... I'll tell you, I have chills.

Okay. Good.

This is stunning.

Okay. Thank you so much. And...

You must be happy.

I... I'm a little scared.

Why? I mean, this is you.

I know.

If you were to hold back from this,
I would be profoundly disappointed.

No one else would create this work.

Thank you so much.
I appreciate that.

Very inspiring.

So it's gonna be emotional tomorrow.

It's gonna be very emotional for everyone.

-Thank you, Yannik.
-Thank you so much, Tim.

Rafael.

Don't tell me this is our last talk, Tim.

Well, we're gonna still see each other,
but it's our last official Tim Talk.

-Aw.
-Yeah.

I already miss you.

Aw, I miss you, too.

-Let me tell you...
-Wow.

I need to bring my colors.

-You have. You have. They're here.
-Yes, yes, yes.

Do you have any questions or concerns?

I really, really, really don't know
if I go to the show with this coat

and, like, this side, more basic,
or my more poppy.

I think you should wear it both ways.

I can... I can try with the model.

Yeah, but have the model
come out with the solid.

-Yeah.
-Yeah, and then this is a surprise.

Yes.

It's fantastic.

Thank you, Tim.

You've done a fabulous job.

-Thank you, Tim.
-All right. Thank you, Rafael.

-Bye. Love you.
-Love you back.

Rafael and Yannik and Georgia,

I have never felt
more excited about a show.

[chuckles]

I don't say those words casually.
It's really thrilling.

Tomorrow you're going into your
business pitches with Christine Beauchamp,

and she cares about you,
which is why she's here.

So use the time with her
to converse, to communicate,

and to celebrate the fact
that you're great designers.

Okay? I will see you there.

Much love. Talk to you later.

-Bye.
-Thank you, Tim.

-Bye.
-Bye.

[pop music plays]

Whoa.

[Yannik] The business pitch
is the one thing I was most scared of.

Maison Blanche is a conscious, vegan,
plastic-free, sustainable fashion brand.

I worked in marketing, I worked in sales.

I was handling millions of dollars,
and I know how it is.

But my concern is that my brand
is really conceptual

and perhaps not
a perfect match for Amazon,

that they feel like Rafael or Georgia
are better fitting.

The Georgia Hardinge customer
is an informed, modern,

and forward-thinking individual.

The business that I have in London
is doing really well.

Collaborations include
the Victoria's Secret Show and Swarovski.

I just need to show Christine
that there is no risk in investing

because I've cracked the code
and I'm making money from my business.

Brazil traditionally has
a high interest rate,

so saving money makes money.

My history is so unique
because I started my brand without money.

And now I have ten collections.

Our productions don't fit at home anymore.

I've worked a lot in the last years,
and this is a great opportunity

to show my passion for fashion.

Oh, my God.

[pop music plays]

[Georgia]
I do feel like my business pitch is solid.

My most important thing
is to explain my product

and where I'm going to take my business.

But I'm not very good at public speaking.

It's difficult because
you have your heart on the line.

Literally, someone can stamp on you.

Feeling ready?

-I'm feeling ready.
-Great.

[pop music plays]

Hi, Georgia. How are you today?

I'm feeling great. Thank you.

The Georgia Hardinge brand
has dressed the likes of Lady Gaga,

Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, to name a few.

The products are easy to manufacture,
increasing profit margins.

The brand has seen
an increased growth by 866%

compared to its annual figure in 2018.

My key areas to invest in:

hiring new staff,
distribution partners in Europe and USA.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for giving me a peek
into your business mind yesterday.

I really appreciated
your clear point of view.

-This is your signature.
-Yeah, actually, it is.

I mean, I recognize it immediately.

You're pleating and you're ruching,
which makes it very wearable

for multiple body types,
which is terrific.

[Georgia] Yeah.

But it could potentially be
a little one-note.

And so I'm wondering how you're thinking
about expanding your vision

to have more dimension
without losing your brand positioning.

So I've thought
about that recently, actually. Um...

I think surface treatments,
prints, um, embellishments,

embellished fabrics
would be more minimal as well.

I know that denim, you can do
lots of different things with washing.

And, uh, yeah.

Thank you. Well done.

Lovely to meet you, Christine, again.

Lovely to see you.

I will accompany you.

[Georgia]
I feel confident.

She seemed like she thought
I was a good business person.

You should feel so good
about that.

So, yeah, feeling happy that
I managed to do this, and I did it well.

[pop music plays]

[Yannik] I'm feeling crazy nervous
about this pitch.

So much at stake because this
is the ninth time I'm doing something

to get fundings for my brand,
and I'm pretty broke, so I have to win.

-Feeling ready?
-I'm feeling ready, yes.

-Let's go.
-Let's go.

[pop music plays]

Hi, Yannik. Congratulations.

Thank you so much.

[Christine]
Well, let's jump right in.

Take it away.

[exhales deeply]

My brand is called Maison Blanche.

We are a very contemporary,
all-gender-inclusive brand,

and everything we use
is 100% sustainable and biodegradable.

We did a T-shirt
which doesn't need any extra packaging.

It has a folding technique with heat.

You have an envelope
and you can send that envelope.

The customer can wash the envelope
and has a T-shirt.

What I would do with the investment,
biggest part I would put into production.

As you see, it sums up to around 270,000.

My last job actually was
working in marketing and sales,

and I did the past year
everything by myself.

But I really need a studio manager,

someone who helps me
with all organization.

I would like, by the end of 2028, to be
a global player in the fashion industry.

I really like that you have
both a business and a creative side.

I appreciate and respect that the shades
of white are the baseline of your brand,

but, also,
customers do love color and print.

And I'm wondering, what are you thinking
about color extensions for your brand?

I have absolutely no problem
with working with colors.

I'm actually excited
when I look at '90s kind of prints,

bright, neon colors.

I would probably
go with something like that.

Well, thank you for your time today
and can't wait for the runway.

Thank you so much for your time.

-Thank you.
-And I will escort you.

You were superb.
It was A+++.

I really hope Tim was right
and it was good.

And the difficult part is behind me.

Now it's just the collection.
It's such a relief.

[pop music plays]

[Rafael] Never have a presentation
like this before,

and my concern is my English.

English, as you know,
is new for me.

[pop music plays]

Rafael, you look so nice.

Thank you.
I try to be more business today.

[both laugh]

-Are you ready?
-Yes.

-Come with me.
-Go.

[Tim]
And there's Christine.

Hi, Rafael.

I'm really looking forward to hearing
more about your business point of view.

Yes. Thank you
for having me here.

So the name of my brand is Chaouiche.

It's the last name from my mother.
She was my inspiration.

With my third collection,
I sold more than 1,000 pieces,

uh, between wholesales
and final customers.

After five years, we finally
feel secure to get our own building.

I have moment for the dogs, for candles.

I invite the clients to make
Japanese therapy with flowers.

I think I can involve my clients
not just in the clothes.

I have a connection with love,
work, and fashion.

Thank you. I love the glamorous
lifestyle you took us into yesterday.

-Wow.
-Yes, yes.

-That took a lot of work, that dress.
-Yes, yes.

But today a lot of customers
like to wear really casual clothes.

And I'm wondering how you think about

the extensibility of your brand
into casual.

For my runway tomorrow,
I bring some looks

for after the jean
to go to the street,

and I try to create beauty clothes
to transform the energy for the woman.

And I feel I'm doing great. [chuckles]

[Christine]
Great. I can't wait to see.

Thank you very much for your time.

-[Rafael] Thank you.
-And good luck with the show.

-[Tim] I will escort you out.
-Yeah.

[Rafael]
After the pitch, I feel very happy.

I understand everything,
uh, what she asked me.

Rafael, that was beautiful.

-Really?
-You did a great job.

Oh, thank you.

And I feel very proud of me.

And I can't wait for tomorrow.

What a great day.
They have such vision and passion.

Any one of them can be a winner.
It will be quite a show, I can assure you.

[pop music plays]

It's, like, my last moments here,
my goodbye.

It is the last time here in this room.

-I know. [chuckles] Drama.
-I love my table.

Everything passed so fast.

And now I just need to show my own show.

-Last time working in here.
-Can you take a picture?

-Yeah.
-Yeah.

-A selfie with the background.
-Yes.

[pop music plays]

[camera shutter clicks]

All right. Bye, studio.

-[Yannik] Bye, studio.
-Bye.

[Georgia] Bye.

Still don't know how the door works.
[laughs]

[Georgia]
I definitely need a drink.

[pop music plays]

Tomorrow at this time,
one of us is very rich.

-[laughs]
-I hope so.

Who will cry?

-I will cry.
-I think I will cry.

[laughs]

In every situation.

I'm not gonna cry tomorrow. Nope.

-That's why you're lying.
-I'm gonna just... [laughs]

I was really afraid
in the beginning that,

because all the winners
have been from the US...

Who's gonna win? [laughs]

I am. I'm sorry, girls.

-[laughs]
-I'm sorry. I love you, but I will win.

[all laugh]

You can dream. It's okay.

It's okay. You, too.

[Georgia laughs]

[pop music plays]

Tonight is finale.
I'm getting super nervous.

I can't believe it.
This day finally arrived.

[pop music plays]

[Georgia] Whoo!

And the clock is ticking.

Oh, no, we cannot even see you
on your side.

-Oh, there we go.
-Oh.

-[Georgia] See ya.
-Have fun.

-It looks gorgeous.
-Yeah, it does.

This is scary
because who wins this competition

is the winner
of Making the Cut: Season Three.

And I really want to win this
for my family.

No matter what, my family,
they were always there for me.

And I know my mom is freaking out.
I know my mom has sleepless nights.

And now I really want to make them proud.

[pop music plays]

How are you guys?
Nice to see you.

Morning.

Ooh.

[pop music plays]

Oh, my goodness.
I'm so happy to be here.

And you're gonna do this one.
Whoo-hoo.

Got so many little things I want to do.

Make sure I've tried some things
on the models,

maybe switch around some styling bits.

There is shoulder pads in there,
but they're just not enough.

I need to create that drama.
There's a million dollars on the line.

Yeah, that's it.

[pop music plays]

Tada!

Can't wait.
How are you doing?

Uh, a little nervous.

-Yeah, it's okay.
-Yeah.

I want them actually pale,
not really visible eyebrows.

[man] Definitely play
with their naked foundations.

You'll have a fierce skin-tone brow.

My print:
"Fashion is a wonderful life."

Because I'm special,
I will win one million dollars!

[laughs]

My main aim is to flatter the silhouette
of all shapes and sizes.

-Are you rehearsing?
-[Georgia] Yes, I am.

I'm not very good at just, like, blurbing.

No, I'm just gonna blurb.

[Georgia]
I know, but you're good at blurb.

You're good at talking bullshit as well,
so don't worry.

No, I'm not.

Oh, my God.
My models are so beautiful.

[pop music plays]

My idea for her,
we'll do the glam makeup for her.

-[man] So glam, so we're gonna do...
-[Rafael] Yes.

You look so good.

You're a genius.

I love this.

I've learned a look
was always from head to toe.

I love that.

Okay. It's trippy, man.

Can't show my looks with the ordinary.
For me, it just would make no sense.

And then we're still gonna do,
like, no hard lines.

It's smoke and mascara,
so we're gonna use the Perversion mascara.

-That's looking cool.
-It's looking cool. I think so.

I love Rafael's collection.
I want that coat.

He is selling a dream
and he's so convincing,

so it makes me a little bit nervous.

[Georgia] Okay.

[man]
All right, guys, that is time.

[laughs]
You look gorgeous, guys.

All right.

Thank you so much.

Ooh.

-Whoo!
-[laughs]

The vibe.

Everyone feels comfortable?

-[camera shutter clicks]
-[woman] Yes.

Got it.

Oh, it's beautiful.

[pop music plays]

[Tim]
Here we go.

Welcome to our Making the Cut:
Season Three finale fashion show

in the heart of the Fashion District
in Downtown Los Angeles.

And what a spectacular setting
for our final runway show.

Someone is leaving here tonight
with one million dollars

to take their brand to the next level.

And all three of our finalists
are so talented, it could be anyone.

We are looking for
the next great global brand.

And as a reminder,
the designers created

a ten-look finale collection
that represents their brand.

The winning collection
will be immediately available

in the Making the Cut Store
on Amazon.

The winning designer
will also have the opportunity

to create an additional collection,
which will be a co-brand with Amazon.

There is a lot at stake here tonight.

Let's welcome our fabulous judges.

The creative director of Moschino,
fashion designer Jeremy Scott.

-[Heidi] Hi, Jeremy.
-Hello.

Actress, entrepreneur,

and creative director
of House of Harlow 1960,

Nicole Richie.

-Hi, Nicole.
-Hi.

And we're honored to have here
with us tonight Senior Vice President

of Consumer Categories,
overseeing many retail sectors,

including fashion, Christine Beauchamp.

Hi.

[Heidi] Welcome. And thank you again
for being here with us.

All right,
let's start our finale fashion show.

-Heidi, let's do it.
-Mwah.

[pop music plays]

Goodnight, party people.

[all cheer]

[Rafael]
Oh, my God.

It's amazing,
this opportunity to present my collection

in this location because I have
opportunity to live here for a few weeks

and my collection is about
the energy from LA, from Fashion District,

and the people who I saw in the street,
in the shopping,

and the stars like yours.

And I really hope you enjoy.

-Thank you, Rafael.
-Thank you.

Thank you, Rafael.

[Christine]
Wow. He just has my heart.

-[Heidi] Yeah.
-[Nicole] Yeah.

[crying]

-You all right?
-Yes.

-What's the matter?
-[sighs] Just emotional.

-A lot of emotion?
-Yes.

But you should feel so thrilled.

[Rafael] Yes.

[pop music plays]

Ooh, yeah.
I would totally wear that suit.

She's giving me '90s, '80s,
everything.

-I do love that print.
-Yeah, into, into.

[Christine] Yes.

[pop music plays]

Okay, coveralls, into.

[Heidi] I don't understand so much
because is it summer?

Is it winter?
I'm not sure what it is.

[pop music plays]

[Jeremy]
This is working here.

The long puffer is interesting.

Bold, colorful, playful.

-[Heidi] Mm-hmm.
-[Christine] There's a lot of dimension.

[pop music plays]

This I would wear.

[Heidi] Yeah, I like this, too.
I like the slouchy vibe, yeah.

Whoa. Oh, why have one coat
when you can have two?

[Tim]
And that was very artfully done.

Knowing that it's reversible,
there's just a lot of drama.

[pop music plays]

Nice combination
of sparkle and structure.

Agreed. She looks beautiful.

[pop music plays]

[Nicole]
I like the silhouette as a dress.

I feel like it would do
really well for you guys.

I agree with you.

[Heidi]
Ah, and this is the coat I had on.

[Nicole]
I love this coat.

The whole outfit is cool.

[pop music plays]

[Christine] These accessories tonight
are very thought-through.

Yeah, absolutely.

Cute, little, multicolored earrings
and the multicolored shoes.

[pop music plays]

[Heidi]
Ooh, yes, this green dress.

[Nicole]
Wow. Love that.

Oh, I love it, too.
We have to fight over it.

I will wear it.

[pop music plays]

The fabric is special. You could imagine
that cut into many different pieces.

[Heidi gasps]
Finally, we see this dress walk.

Definitely drama on the red carpet.

-Yeah.
-Drama wherever you wear it.

[Christine] A really special dress
with a lot of workmanship in it.

-You gave it 1,000%.
-Yeah.

You really did.
Congrats, Rafael.

Thank you, Tim.

[applause]

Thank you.

[pop music plays]

[Heidi] Ooh, I love already
what Georgia is wearing.

Hi, Georgia.

I'm wearing green.

I love it.

So this collection shows
my capabilities as a designer,

and the fact that I've
learned so much in this process.

Also, introduction to menswear.

I took inspiration
from my paper sculptures

and I created
and I transferred this into multimedia.

My main aim today is to show you
how flattering my pieces

go through different sizes
and size variation.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Thank you.

[pop music plays]

She's so sweet.

So sweet.

[pop music plays]

[Heidi]
Wow. Is that a body suit?

It's a body-ody suit.

[Heidi]
I'm so excited about this.

-[Tim] But look at the train.
-[Georgia] It's a 30-meter dress.

[Tim]
It's fantastic.

[Georgia] I did it in an apartment
and I had to do it in corners.

-[laughs]
-It's fantastic.

It's much more drama and glamor
than I expected from her.

Yeah, me, too.
This is setting the tone, Georgia.

[Jeremy] Yes.

[pop music plays]

[Heidi]
And look at the little baby doll.

This is my accessible-look version
of that dress.

Yeah.

[Christine] Much more modern usage
of the ruching tonight.

Yeah. She did something
completely different with her skill.

[pop music plays]

Should have done something
a little more exciting with the styling.

[Christine]
Yeah, this one is a little more everyday.

[pop music plays]

Took our excitement and she turned
the volume down a little bit.

I know.

[pop music plays]

I like the fabric combination
and I think the color is pretty.

I'm a fan of the hair whipping.

Okay, here's her try at menswear.

I think it's very cool.

[pop music plays]

Well, you can tell she's just
trying her hand at menswear.

[Nicole]
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[pop music plays]

[Nicole]
I wouldn't mind this top on its own.

[Christine]
The shade of blue is beautiful, though.

[Nicole]
Yeah, the blue is beautiful.

[Nicole]
Okay. This looks cool.

[Heidi]
Yeah. I'm not mad at that.

The momentum from the beginning
of the show is coming back a little bit.

Yeah. Yeah.
It's bringing it back.

I'm sort of more excited about that
in the store than to walk down the runway.

Yeah. Yeah.

All right. Oh, Georgia,
congratulations to you.

Thank you, Tim.

[Tim]
Beautiful, beautiful job.

[pop music plays]

[applause]

[pop music plays]

[applause]

[pop music plays]

-Hi, Yannik.
-[Yannik] Hi, guys.

Tonight's collection
is a homage to artisanal work,

to classic men's tailoring

showed on different kind of bodies
and all genders.

I hope you enjoy.

Thank you.

[pop music plays]

Do you think
we're going to be seeing all white?

I think he'll bring color in. I do.

[pop music plays]

-[Nicole] Ooh.
-[Christine] Wow.

-[Nicole] I love this fabric.
-[Christine] Me, too.

-[Nicole] I love it.
-[Christine] It's very special.

[pop music plays]

[Christine]
It's theatrical.

[Heidi] I mean,
that gives you a mood.

Doesn't she look amazing?

She does look amazing.
And look at this move.

[Yannik] Yeah.

This is an accessible piece
that is cool and exciting.

[Christine] Yeah.

Oh, my God. Look at the braids.
Forward-braided. That's so cool.

[Nicole]
This is cool.

[Heidi]
Oh, look. It's not white.

[Jeremy]
It's an upside-down pair of pants.

[Nicole]
Super cool.

I mean, it took me a minute to
figure out what it was. I was like, wow.

[Christine] And the print is special.
It's a really modern, blown-out floral.

[Nicole] It is.

Yeah, it's amazing how people
always come up with something new.

[pop music plays]

[Christine]
Upside-down pants.

[Nicole]
These are also upside-down pants.

-I love it.
-He's such an intellectual designer.

You wonder what he's saying
about the upside-down.

[Nicole] Yeah.

[pop music plays]

Oh, my gosh.
Look at this jacket. It's so great.

[Jeremy] Yeah.

[Heidi] It's the same print
like he had in the concept store,

-but in a different color scheme.
-[Jeremy] Oh, yeah.

[pop music plays]

[Heidi]
Cute, little dress.

[Jeremy]
Sexy and conceptual at the same time.

[Heidi] Yeah.

You could put this with pants,
a layer,

a whole Nicole system under it
of thermals.

-Exactly, thermals and...
-And you are set.

[pop music plays]

This is a cool reinvention of the crisp...

Love, like,
the oversized button-down, yeah.

-[Christine] Very modern proportions.
-[Nicole] Yeah.

-[Heidi] His branding down the front.
-[Nicole] Yeah.

[pop music plays]

Oh, wow.
Here we have a pant again.

And I guess that the place
where you put your hands in,

-you stick your arms out.
-Yep.

-[Nicole] I love this silhouette.
-[Heidi] Very cool.

[pop music plays]

-[Heidi] Oh, my God.
-[Nicole] Oh, my God.

-[Heidi] Look at this little shirt.
-[Nicole] Look at this. It's a shirt.

-[Heidi] Is it floating?
-[Christine] It's super playful.

[Jeremy]
So cute.

[pop music plays]

I can't wait to see when she turns around
what's at the back.

Is there anything at the back?

[all] Whoa!

Oh, there's the...
There it is. [laughs]

[all laugh]

Not quite wear-to-work, though.

-[Jeremy] I think you just... [laughs]
-[Heidi] I want it.

...strap it on,
flip up the computer laptop...

-[Nicole] Yeah. Yeah.
-...and go.

[pop music plays]

-Oh, look at this.
-Cool.

I mean,
he just keeps on surprising me.

This is so cool,
the way he separated this blazer.

[Jeremy] He's doing a great job
of really making things his own.

And that's what's so exciting.

[pop music plays]

[Yannik]
Any last words?

Just celebrate it.

Okay. Good.
Thank you so much.

[pop music plays]

[applause]

[pop music plays]

[applause continues]

What a show.

So many surprises.

Georgia. I was like, "Wait, wait, wait,
wait, wait, who is this?"

[Jeremy]
Most people save the best for last.

I feel like she saved the best for first.

Yeah.

That was unexpected for Georgia
to have something so fresh and dramatic

and new walking down the runway.

If it is so fresh and so new, does that
then showcase who she is as a brand?

It's almost as if she was designing
for what she believes we want to see.

[Nicole] Yeah, she's really trying
to do the right thing.

She's getting a lot of different messages.

I want to know how the business pitch was.

She clearly understands
the business side of it,

and she had a clear point of view
around who her customer was

and how she'd spend the million dollars.

I just felt a little bit like her ideas
were a little bit classic and traditional,

and wasn't necessarily yet embracing some
of the newer things going on in fashion.

Yeah. All right.
Rafael, what a party it was.

I mean, he brings so much joy
to the runway.

And, you know, as much joy as he has,
so does his clothes.

I think it's representative of him
and of where he's from,

-and the feeling that he wants to bring.
-Yeah.

-Because he's so passionate about it.
-Yeah.

I loved his bold color mixing

'cause I think it is actually
very kind of avant-garde.

-All the different greens together.
-Yeah.

Most people would
not even think to do that.

But I also would worry if that's a little
bit too much for some customers, too.

But then customers can just take one piece

and then, you know,
work it within their own closet.

And he really knows how to sell a dream,
and he knows how to sell a true lifestyle.

Yeah. I mean, I was buying right into it.

How was his business pitch?

I would say Rafael
probably could really benefit the most

from mentorship and guidance.

He's a relatively younger designer
who's got a lot of great experience,

but his plan was the most risky.

All right, let's talk about Yannik.

It wasn't all that white. I mean,
it was very nice to see a print.

[Jeremy]
No. A couple prints.

I think he totally has demonstrated to us
that he is willing to continue

to come out of this, let's say,
box of white and continually grow.

[Nicole]
And he does it every time.

Like, he takes our notes
and he applies them

and he keeps himself in it,

and that is something very special,
and it's something to look at.

Yannik's business plan impressed me.

What I didn't realize is that he has
a background in business and marketing

before he forged off
into his passion for design.

For sure, yeah.

[Christine]
And there were a few wearable pieces:

the beautiful trench dress,
the oversized, crisp, white, woven shirt.

But will he be willing to and able to
take these very creative, visionary ideas

and translate them into pieces that
are more approachable for more customers?

Yeah. Well, we have to make a decision.

Do we all know what we're doing?

I feel like we should talk to them.

[Heidi] I mean, there's definitely
a lot of questions that I have.

Christine, thank you so much
for being here again.

Good luck with this decision tonight.

We can't wait to bring
the winner to our customers.

Yes.

[pop music plays]

-Hello.
-Hello.

[Rafael] Hello.

I want to say
congratulations to all of you.

-Thank you.
-Thank you.

I feel like I'm dreaming.

This was your final opportunity
to show us what your brand is all about.

The winner of Making the Cut
will win a mentorship with Amazon Fashion,

the chance to sell a collection
in the Amazon Making the Cut Store,

and, of course, one million dollars
to bring your brand to the next level.

We have discussed each
of your collections, and based on this...

[sighs]
we sort of made some decisions.

But as you know,
this conversation can change our minds.

This could be
a one-million-dollar conversation.

Oh, my God.

Christine has given us some feedback
on your business pitches,

and that feedback will be taken
into some serious consideration.

Georgia, gonna talk to you first.

I've created a collection
that's my paper sculptures,

and then I photograph them, put them
on all different surface treatments,

and I really want to show you that I
can use color, and I really pushed myself.

Loved how you started the show
with that pink dress.

Feminine, dynamic, it was like she
parachuted out of the sky onto the runway.

Also, really happy to see
your little, blue minidress.

It was like a signature,
and it felt great in that blue.

With some of the accessible pieces,
they were almost too accessible.

It felt like you could have had your DNA
in there more than just with a print.

[Georgia] Mm-hmm.

First look, when it came out,
I was like, "Wait a minute, who is this?"

It was very strong. After that,
it kind of went a little bit down for me.

When you do a print, let's just say
we all don't respond to this print.

[Georgia]
Print, yeah, okay.

Diversify.

Yeah, you want to give people
a lot of different options.

Didn't want to go crazy
with too many different pieces

-for it not to be consistent.
-[Heidi] Right.

It's a delicate balance.
You're totally right.

It's the tightrope
that we walk as designers.

Mm.

You're also getting so many notes
from so many different people, right?

Like, of course you wanna be accessible,
but you don't wanna lose your signature,

which I think that you mastered.

I truly do.

You truly are an artist.

I work really hard for this, and I want
to dress everyone, not just the stars.

I want to dress every customer on
the planet, and I do have a unique voice.

I can feel that
through your entire collection.

[chuckles] Thank you.

[dramatic music plays]

Georgia, I think
you're a fantastic designer.

I really do.

I'm sorry, but you're not making the cut.

Thank you, everyone.

Thank you.

I've had the most incredible time
being with you,

and having your feedback
has been phenomenal.

Thank you for the opportunity here.

-I love you.
-I love you, too.

[Georgia]
You're the best.

It's disappointing, and it's sad,
but I feel incredibly proud of myself.

It hasn't been an easy road for me.

I left my son for so long,
and it was so difficult.

-I love you. [chuckles]
-I love you, too.

[Georgia] But I've grown so much
as a designer within this environment,

and I've realized
things about myself

that I'm gonna
take back to London,

and, yeah, I'm just looking forward
to going back to my family now.

I couldn't be happier.

[chuckles] Thank you guys so much.

[Heidi] Thank you, Georgia.
All the best to you.

Bye.

She's very special.

-[Heidi] Yeah.
-[Nicole] She is.

Yannik, Rafael, one of you
will be leaving here as the winner.

The tricky thing is, we all feel like
the both of you really have what it takes,

so this conversation
is going to be very important.

Rafael, we're gonna talk to you first.

As you know,
my brand is not just about design.

It's about feelings.
It's about emotions.

When I started the collection
with the print

first inspired here in Downtown LA

and I had the birds
on the Santa Monica Beach,

and I think the collections
really tell a little

about my last days
and my experience here in LA.

I loved the show.
I felt like it spoke to who you are.

It did feel like
it was multiple collections.

But I think that you are
such an important artist and creator

in this moment because you are
such a dreamer and you are selling

a lifestyle that maybe people
don't even know that they want to have.

I want you to take a moment and realize
that everyone in Brazil right now

is so proud of you
for what you just showed.

You brought all the love and flavor
and color of your country

and put it on the runway.

The one critique,
I didn't find it always cohesive.

There was parts that looked like
it could be different collections.

-[Rafael] Mm-hmm.
-[Jeremy] But I love the colors.

I love your special voice.

That was very beautiful to see,

just like you tonight
with all your colors.

[Heidi]
I love you, Rafael.

I love how vibrant you are,
and it all reflects

in all the beautiful pieces
that you sent down the runway.

Thank you, Heidi. Yeah.

Why should you win
Making the Cut?

My brand is about passion for fashion,

but it's also for who wishes
to feel good, to feel confident.

My brand is younger.
I'm in a good place.

I'm selling my clothes in good stores.

I'm already selling for other companies.

And I think if I win,
this prize will give me more power

to be the next global brand.

All right, Rafael,
we're gonna talk to Yannik,

and then we are
going to make our final decision.

-[Rafael] Okay.
-Thank you.

[exhales deeply]

I chose those classic
men tailored pieces

and tried to show
a contemporary, modern vision

how clothes can be worn
in a different way,

and that men's tailoring doesn't mean
it needs to be on a man's body,

and that a look doesn't have

to have 3,000 pieces to be convincing.

I think you did
a great collection tonight.

You did a tour de force of menswear,

turning it upside down
literally sometimes.

It was a very beautiful,
artistic vision from a designer.

Watching your show was really incredible
because, every piece,

it just kept getting better
and better and better.

You make me see color in a different way.

And white's not even a color,
it's a shade.

And you make me see that
in a different way, too.

You bleed authenticity to me.

I loved all of it.

I'm also someone who would wear
all of those pieces that are art pieces.

But some people, yes, don't want
their jacket up here. [chuckles]

They want it maybe fitting the shoulders.

[laughs]

And I know that you can give that to them.
I know that you understand that.

Why should you win
Making the Cut?

It's time for this kind of brand.

Like, my brand is to conquer the market.

Sustainability is not only
to want to do something,

it also takes a lot of research
and knowledge.

The fashion industry is the
second biggest polluter in the world,

and something has to change.

And therefore, I believe that
my fashion brand is the future.

And the future should start now.

All the way around.

Yannik is shivering and shaking,
and I can't take it any longer.

-I'm giving you my jacket.
-Thank you.

-Here.
-I don't wanna...

No, no, no, no, here,
just put it over your shoulders.

Okay.

-[Tim] You got it?
-Thank you.

But it's not white.

I'm wearing blue.

[Heidi]
Yeah, I know.

It's midnight.

[all laugh]

Rafael, will you come and join again?

[dramatic music plays]

[Heidi]
Yannik. Rafael.

One of you will win
Making the Cut.

Jeremy, who do you think
should win Making the Cut?

[dramatic music plays]

I'm gonna go with Yannik.

[Heidi]
Nicole, what about you?

[dramatic music plays]

You both are incredible designers.

Tonight I'm picking Yannik.

I also pick Yannik.

[Heidi]
It's unanimous.

Yeah. [chuckles]

-[crying]
-Good job.

[applause]

-Congratulations. Congratulations.
-[Tim] Congratulations.

Thank you so much.

Yannik, you're the winner
of Making the Cut!

[all cheer]

[laughs]

Thank you. This means really...
everything to me.

I tried eight times to get fundings
for my business,

and every time
I got knocked down.

[crying]

[Tim]
Well, you have funding now.

[chuckles]

Thank you so much.

And, Rafael, I do have
some very good news for you as well.

Christine Beauchamp
wants to mentor you herself.

Oh, my God. [chuckles]

And Amazon would like to launch
your brand in the Making the Cut Store.

-Oh, my God.
-Congratulations.

[chuckles]

It was not an easy decision
because you also are a fantastic designer.

Thank you.

I hope you won't forget us.

-[all laugh]
-No.

-Mwah.
-[Yannik] I will never.

Rafael, I'm gonna be calling you
for custom pajamas.

Please. Please.

I have lots of people
to entertain in the morning.

-[Heidi] Thank you, Rafael.
-Thank you.

I feel happy. I'm so excited about
selling the collection with Amazon.

I think I will give a lot
of pride for my country.

-Congrats.
-Thank you.

Mwah.

[Rafael]
My mom, I think she is very proud of me.

I'm so proud of me, too,
'cause my history don't end here.

We have some VIPs for you.

[speaking German]
He won!

[speaking German] No!

[speaking German]
He won!

[both cheer]

Yes!

[speaking German]
Well done, Yannik! Well done.

[speaking German]
Thank you, Mom.

[speaking German]
He just won one million.

[speaking German] No!

[Heidi] Yeah.

[all laugh]

[speaking German]
We're so proud.

[speaking German]
We're so proud of you.

[speaking German]
Thank you.

-They said they're really proud.
-Yeah.

[Tim]
They should be.

Bye.

-Congratulations.
-Thank you so much.

-Very proud.
-Yes.

[all laugh]

Let's have a glass of champagne
and celebrate!

-Okay, let's do it!
-Come on, g*ng! Let's celebrate!

-[Tim] Here we go.
-[Jeremy] Yep.

[pop music plays]

[Yannik]
I feel amazing.

It's incredible.

It's very emotional
because I always believe in myself,

but I was always doubting they will.

[crying]

Sorry.

[♪ "Born to Survive"
by Lee Richardson plays]

[Yannik] This competition
has changed my perspective

on how I believe
that people receive me.

Not only the fashion, they believe in me
as a person and as a human and...

That means a lot.

Just gave me strength to be who I am.

That's amazing.

[♪ "Born to Survive"
by Lee Richardson plays]

[Yannik]
I'm sitting on top of the world.

To anyone who has a dream,

it's not only about
believing in your dreams,

it's actually to do something
for your dreams

and have the courage to step up.

[♪ "Day One"
by Rupert Pope plays]

[Yannik]
It is a dream come true.

I'm going home with a million dollars.

I still can't really believe it.

I am the next global brand.

[♪ "Today's the Day"
by Michelle Lewis plays]
