And I said that my experience

in many football clubs is

that clubs are organised

in various segments,

but it's not really aligned.

Is everyone playing a part

in making sure the team performs,

that 1%, that edge,

that 0.5%, even, if it needs to be?

I think especially

for a club like us,

where we don't have the means

of other clubs in the league,

we're competing against teams earning

what, £400, £500 million a year?

We're a quarter of that size.

Obviously, there's lots of things

in the background

that will hopefully make

the fan experience, which is

my responsibility, better.

What can we do to make

to give it that little bit of extra?

Um Our own home advantage,

for example,

you know, have we thought

about the type of song

that we play

before we go onto the pitch?

Not because it's good for the fans;

for performance.

Have we thought about it,

like,

what it actually does

to either impress the opponent,

or or make our team stronger?

How do we increase

this territoriality feeling?

Because home advantage is

so present in football.

It's not a myth.

It's It's real, home advantage.

Lyle was gonna head back home

and not be involved in the game.

We made the decision

to drive him back up

in the morning of the Saturday

before the game,

so he could be surrounded

by professional support

as quick as we possibly could.

I think we're doing everything

we can

to, um

to get him to a place

where he can do what he enjoys doing

the most, which is playing football.

What is it? One if four people

struggle with their mental health.

Now, we're in a building

with 30-odd men.

How can one of them not

have a problem?

That's more concerning.

I can only begin to imagine what

he's gone through, going through,

but to actually allow

the club to come out

and tell the world is massive,

and it's a testament to Lyle

and his desire to get better.

Yeah, in the last couple of minutes,

Burnley have just released

a statement concerning Lyle Foster.

They say, "Recently Lyle let us know

that he continues to live with

issues around his mental well-being

and he's currently in the care

of specialists," say the club.

Football, in many ways,

is the problem and the solution.

It's the problem because

that's where the pressure comes from,

but it's also the solution because

he wants to be

That's all he knows,

in moments like this,

As a Premier League team,

there's no way to prepare.

You try and simulate it.

You restrict the space and time

the players get to operate in

to try and compensate

for the fact that, when they get out

on the weekend, they're playing

a bigger, faster, better player.

There's a really cool analogy

we came up with

where we started to look

at the difference between Formula

One and Formula Two. So

if you took the fastest

ever Formula Two car,

the fastest lap,

and you did that for 52 laps,

that car would finish

about 11 minutes behind

in a Formula One race, minimum.

So it's a different sport,

essentially.

We have just produced one

of the best Formula Two cars

anyone will have ever seen,

but we're taking it

into a Formula One race.

You're here to compete.

That's why we do it.

Come on, Charlie, come on.

We have the lowest quality players

in the league, pretty much.

You have one of the

lowest budgets in the league.

Can you outplay these teams

technically? Probably not.

All of their players are better

than yours.(CHEERING)

Can you out-muscle these teams

physically?

Probably not.

In the Premier League,

it's every squad,

16 guys who are all mammals.

They give you 34 kilometres an hour.

They give you hundreds

of metres of sprint distance.

They can accelerate and decelerate

like you wouldn't believe.

Can't stop them.

There's nothing you can do.

You're just battling physics,

essentially.

Every pass, every action,

hundreds of actions a game have

to be perfect

cos the one mistake that you make

is gonna cost us a goal.

When you play these young boys,

they will make mistakes.

The mistakes get punished.

They're punished in a way

you can't believe. It's ridiculous.

We're trying to overcome something,

and that requires being brave,

taking risks, trying things that

For me, not trying is

way more depressing

it's all glitz and glamour,

there's a lot of players out there

that go through a lot of stuff.

Injuries is just one example;

confidence; there's many things.

And I feel like, sometimes,

people are too quick to judge.

to understand outside of football

how it is

because they only see the big wages,

but that's not what it's all about.

Like, when you stand on the pitch,

and you don't care about

how much money you get;

you play for the game.
