That was the first Broadway show I ever saw.

It was at the Alvin Theatre

and starred Andrea McArdle as Annie

and Reid Skelton as Daddy Warbucks.

It ran for six years and won

the Tony Award for Best Musical.

It was the longest-running

show at the Alvin Theatre,

which is now the Neil Simon Theatre,

until it was surpassed by Hairspray in 2009.

for a musical production of Flowers for Algernon.

The switch was made

because Annie was having problems with
